  • Wordpress XML-RPC call from Objective C: wp.newComment

    - by radesix
    I'm using Eric Czarny's Cocoa XML-RPC framework to make a call to the Wordpress API's. I've downloaded the sample app from Wordpress which gives some good examples. Unfortunately the good examples are for every call EXCEPT wp.newComment. I'm trying to post a comment using the code below and I keep getting an error with a localized description that tells me to check my input parameters. I've checked and rechecked and I don't understand what is wrong. Any ideas? NSDictionary *commentStructure = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:[NSNumber numberWithInt:0], @"comment_parent", @"xmlrpc anonymous comments plugin now enabled", @"content", @"Test Author", @"author", @"http://iphone.someurl.com", @"author_url", @"[email protected]", @"author_email", nil]; NSArray *args = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[NSNumber numberWithInt:0], @"", @"", [NSNumber numberWithInt:[self.parentFeedItem.postID intValue]], commentStructure, nil]; // the param(s) NSString *server = [[[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"http://www.someurl.com/xmlrpc.php"] autorelease]; // the server NSString *method = [[[NSString alloc] initWithString:@"wp.newComment"] autorelease]; // the method XMLRPCRequest *request = [[XMLRPCRequest alloc] initWithHost:[NSURL URLWithString:server]]; [request setMethod:method withObjects:args]; id response = [self executeXMLRPCRequest:request]; [request release]; if( [response isKindOfClass:[NSError class]] ) { //return nil; NSLog(@"There was a problem"); NSLog([response localizedDescription]); }

  • RPC for java/python with rest support, HTML monitoring and goodies

    - by Ran
    Here's my set of requirements: I'm looking for an RPC framework such as thrift, avro, protobuf (when adding services to it) which supports: Easy and intuitive IDL. No serial numbers, no manual versioning, simple... avro is a good example for this. Works with Java and Python Supports both fast binary prorocol, as well as HTTP based restful style. I'd like to be able to use it for both backend-to-backend communication (java-java or python-java) as well as frontend-to-backend communication (javascript to java). The rest support needs to include &param=value input as get/post requests (configurable per request) and output in three possible formats: json, jsonp, XML. Compact, fast, backward compatible, easy to upgrade etc... Provides some nice monitoring interfaces such as: JMX, web page status reports (e.g. packets in, packets out, error rate etc) Ops friendly... no need to take the whole site down to release new versions Both sync and asyc communication ... other goodies are welcome... Is there something out there? So far I've looked at thrift and avro and they are both nice in some ways, but don't check all my list. Thanks

  • GWT: Populating a page from datastore using RPC is too slow

    - by Ilya Boyandin
    Is there a way to speed up the population of a page with GWT's UI elements which are generated from data loaded from the datastore? Can I avoid making the unnecessary RPC call when the page is loaded? More details about the problem I am experiencing: There is a page on which I generate a table with names and buttons for a list of entities loaded from the datastore. There is an EntryPoint for the page and in its onModuleLoad() I do something like this: final FlexTable table = new FlexTable(); rpcAsyncService.getAllCandidates(new AsyncCallback<List<Candidate>>() { public void onSuccess(List<Candidate> candidates) { int row = 0; for (Candidate person : candidates) { table.setText(row, 0, person.getName()); table.setWidget(row, 1, new ToggleButton("Yes")); table.setWidget(row, 2, new ToggleButton("No")); row++; } } ... }); This works, but takes more than 30 seconds to load the page with buttons for 300 candidates. This is unacceptable. The app is running on Google App Engine and using the app engine's datastore.

  • Cross-platform general purpose C++ RPC library

    - by iUm
    Here's the task: Imagine, we have an applications and a plug-in for it (dynamic library). Interface between the application and the plug-in is completely defined. Now I need to run the application and the plug-in on different computers. I wrote a stub for the plug-in on a computer where the real applications is running. And the application loads it and calls its functions like if it were a native plug-in. On the other computer there's a stub instead of the real application, which loads the native plug-in. Now I need to organize RPCs between my stubs over the network, regardless the very transport. Usually, it's not difficult. But there're some restrictions: Application-plug-in interaction can be reenterable (e.g. application calls f1() from plug-in, in f1() plug-in calls g1() from application, in g1() application calls f2() from plug-in and so on...) Any such reenteration should be executed exactly by the same thread, which started the sequence Where can I find a cross-platform C++ RPC library with such features?

  • RPC command to initiate a software install

    - by ericmayo
    I was recently working with a product from Symantech called Norton EndPoint protection. It consists of a server console application and a deployment application and I would like to incorporate their deployment method into a future version of one of my products. The deployment application allows you to select computer workstations running Win2K, WinXP, or Win7. The selection of workstations is provided from either AD (Active Directory) or NT Domain (WINs/DNS NetBIOS lookup). From the list, one can click and choose which workstations to deploy the end point software which is Symantech's virus & spyware protection suite. Then, after selecting which workstations should receive the package, the software copies the setup.exe program to each workstation (presumable over the administrative share \pcname\c$) and then commands the workstation to execute setup.exe resulting in the workstation installing the software. I really like how their product works but not sure what they are doing to accomplish all the steps. I've not done any deep investigations into this such as sniffing the network, etc... and wanted to check here to see if anyone is familiar with what I'm talking about and if you know how it's accomplished or have ideas how it could be accomplished. My thinking is that they are using the admin share to copy the software to the selected workstations and then issuing an RPC call to command the workstation to do the install. What's interesting is that the workstations do this without any of the logged in users knowing what's going on until the very end where a reboot is necessary. At which point, the user gets a pop-up asking to reboot now or later, etc... My hunch is that the setup.exe program is popping this message. To the point: I'm looking to find out the mechanism by which one Windows based machine can tell another to do some action or run some program. My programming language is C/C++ Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

  • C++ RPC library suggestions

    - by Oxsnarder
    I'm looking for suggestions regarding RPC libraries implemented in C++, for C++ developers. Some requirements constraints: Should work on both linux/unix and win32 systems Be able to execute free function and class methods Hopefully written in modern C++ not 90's/java-esque C++ Be able to function over networks and hetrogenous architectures Not too slow or inefficient Hopefully provide interfaces for TR1 style std::function's et al. My example usage is to invoke the free function foo on a remote machine. ---snip--- // foo translation unit int foo(int i, int j) { return i + j; } ---snip--- ---snip--- // client side main int main() { //register foo on client and server //setup necassary connections and states int result; if (RPCmechanism.invoke("foo",4,9,result)) std::cout << "foo(4,9) = " result << std::endl; else std::cout << "failed to invoke foo(4,9)!" << std::endl; return 0; } ---snip--- Something that can achieve the above or similar would be great.

  • Job queue manager with RPC interface

    - by admr
    I need a job queue manager that I can control over the Internet. It should be able to execute and stop processes, check on their status (ideally notice and execute some code when a process exits), respond to commands and also be able to report back to a server. Background: I have a GWT application that allows to create jobs to execute on a cloud instance (currently EC2). I want to push a "job packet" (data for a process to operate on etc) to S3, start a Linux EC2 instance (or use one that's already running), and tell a job manager on the instance to execute that job (possibly parallel to other jobs). It should then pull the "job packet" from S3, run a process that operates on that data and report back to the server that is running the server part of my GWT application with some information (e.g. exit code, stdout, stderr). If I have to write e.g. stdour/err to a file from the process and read that file, that's OK too. I would really like the manager to be "close" to the processes it runs, meaning I want to avoid using something like Runtime.exec from the JDK. It seems like I would have to do that if I used Quartz for example. I'm fine with the calls in both directions being asynchronous. I'm fine with any reasonable technology for the calls as long as I can easily build an interface for that in my GWT server side (e.g. HTTP requests to a servlet over SSL would be nice and trivial). The job manager does not need to have a very sophisticated queueing system. Running several processes either sequentially or in parallel should be fine. Determining how much compute time a process received during its lifetime would be nice (AFAIK, this might be challenging). I did not yet find any existing software that does this, including http://java-source.net/open-source/job-schedulers. I suspect I might have to build an RPC interface (with authentication etc, of course) around a job manager; maybe use something like Apache Commons Exec. In that case, I would prefer Java or Python for the job manager part. I would be happy to hear suggestions for either the former or latter scenario!

  • Queuing rpc calls

    - by alfa64
    i'm designing a system wich listen to json rpc calls from clients, piles it up inside a list, and if it gets full it should store them in a DB and keep recieving calls. My original plan is to listen to the rpc calls from Perl with the json-rpc and put them in the array. The clients do some long polling in another server to get responses as they appear. What is this blocking/noblocking thing? Should i do a script for node.js to listen to the calls? What do you think is a good practice in this case? The objective is to listen as much calls as possible.

  • Cannot install FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions on Server 2003

    - by Sentax
    Hi everyone, I've followed the Microsoft article to install FPSE 2002 on my Windows 2003 server: To install and enable FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components. 4. In the Windows Components Wizard, double-click Application Server, double-click Internet Information Services, and then select the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions check box. 5. Click OK twice, click Next, and then click Finish. But on step 4 "FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions" does not show up in the list in the IIS details window. How do I get FPSE 2002 installed on my server? From what I can understand it's supposed to be there and I just have to enable it. But that's not an option for me. Thanks.

  • Identify valid server in XML-RPC request using PHP

    - by Ian
    I'm working on a client-server system, where the client makes XMLRPC requests to the server. The client part of the system is handed to a third-party, meaning that he could eventually modify the code or re-route the xmlrpc requests. Now, hoping the third-party won't modify the code, I need a way to make sure that the server the client script is contacting is actually MY server (cause, the person could somehow reroute the requests to his own server where he could make up some xml responses, not what I want). Is there a way to identify a server using PHP? Some sort of SSL connection? Hope you guys understand me. Cheers.

  • Preventing browser loading indicator with Chrome + GWT-rpc.

    - by Jeeyoung Kim
    Hello. I'm writing a ajax chatting webapp, just to test working with GWT. To simulate server side push of chat messages from the server to the browser, I have a XHR request running behind. It all works fine - except on Chrome, the browser is displaying a loading icon (a spinner) because of the XHR request on background. Is there any way to avoid this? I've tested it in Firefox, and it doesn't display such behavior.

  • GWT RPC and GoDaddy Shared Hosting

    - by Mike Apolis
    Hi, I've deployed the sample Stock Watcher app to my GoDaddy Hosting site, and I get the error below. I've tried compiling the Project in Eclipse with JRE 1.5 because my Host is using jre 1.5. I think the issue is the "gwt-servlet.jar" is not compatible with jre 1.5. Can anyone confirm this. The project runs fine on my local machine using JRE 1.6. • Flex: client / server messaging question (RPC or socket ?)

    - by Patrick
    hi, I'm building a Flex application, which is going to perform many server requests (let's say, that almost all interactions require an update from server). At the moment I'm using remote procedure calls for it. But I was wondering if using a socket would be better. In other terms, is maybe better to keep the connection alive rather then performing many calls in sequence ? For my demo app I only have 1 client. Is the number of clients connecting to the server a factor for this choice ? thanks

  • Twisted Spread: How to authenticate each RPC with digital signature

    - by kronat
    I have remote objects which talk each others with RPCs, using Twisted Spread. I want that objects authenticate messages, before using them, with digital signatures, but I don't know where to start to implement this. In my head, the Root object must have a public/private key pair, and the Client too. When a message is sent, a digital signature of the hash is added, and when it is received, the signature is checked. Is the Protocol part where I need to add these adds and checks? Thank you

  • Protect all XML-RPC calls with HTTP basic auth but one

    I set up a Django project for smartphone serving XML-RPC methods over HTTPS and using basic auth. All XML-RPC methods require username and password. • ZeroMQ REQ/REP on ipc:// and concurrency

    - by Metiu
    I implemented a JSON-RPC server using a REQ/REP 0MQ ipc:// socket and I'm experiencing strange behavior which I suspect is due to the fact that the ipc:// underlying unix socket is not a real socket, but rather a single pipe. From the documentation, one has to enforce strict zmq_send()/zmq_recv() alternation, otherwise the out-of-order zmq_send() will return an error. However, I expected the enforcement to be per-client, not per-socket. Of course with a Unix socket there is just one pipeline from multiple clients to the server, so the server won't know who it is talking with. Two clients could zmq_send() simultaneously and the server would see this as an alternation violation. The sequence could be: ClientA: zmq_send() ClientB: zmq_send() : will it block until the other send/receive completes? will it return -1? (I suspect it will with ipc:// due to inherent low-level problems, but with TCP it could distinguish the two clients) ClientA: zmq_recv() ClientB: zmq_recv() so what about tcp:// sockets? Will it work concurrently? Should I use some other locking mechanism to work around this?

The problem is with the NFS folders not mounting, here's a verbose log. # mount -v myserver:/nfs_shared/tools /tools/ mount: no type was given - I'll assume nfs because of the colon mount.nfs: timeout set for Mon Oct 1 11:42:28 2012 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: Connection timed out My IP is 109, the server is 22. Just before the last upgrade, I was able to mount normally. Other PCs on my network are able to mount too, it's not a server issue. How can I analyse the problem? Certain log files? Any help?
