• Excel 2007: "Format as Table" Increments Column Names

  I love using the formatting styles for tables in Excel 2007, but in my data I'm using the same column name for multiple columns. When I format my table using the pre-defined styles, it automatically adds an incremental number to each subsequent column name which I don't want. Is there any way to stop this from happening? If I attempt to manually rename the column back to the original name, it automatically appends the incremented number.

• How to export User cert with private key in PKCS12 format

  I'm running Win2008R2, and have installed an Enterprise CA. I can create user certs, but no matter what I do, I cannot export the private key. I'm using the un-touched User certificate template, and the "allow export of private key" option is selected. Still, whenever I go to the "export" dialogue of the certificate (both as user and as administrator), I don't get asked if I want to export the private key, and the option to select PKCS12 format is grayed out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

• Importer or converter for ClarisWorks cwk format?

  I have several ClarisWorks documents (*.CWK) that I'd like to import into a more modern format like Microsoft Word or Open Office. It seems Star Office can apparently open cwk files, but the product is discontinued and cannot be downloaded any more. There has been a feature request to add a cwk importer to OpenOffice since 2002, so I doubt that OpenOffice will support cwk files any time soon. Are there any utilities that can open a cwk file besides ClarisWorks itself?

  I'm trying to prevent people from modifying (most) of my spreadsheet while still alowing them to use the sort function of the AutoFilter. What I've done so far is used the Worksheet_Change event and Application.Undo to automatically undo any values entered into cells that I don't want to be modified. This works great, except that it can't detect changes in formatting. Does anyone know of a means to trigger an event when the format (text/background color) of a cell is changed? Thanks!

• SWF -> Compatible YouTube format and retain ActionScript

  I have an swf (just a sequence of slides with audio, timing controlled by actionscript) that I want to convert to a compatible YouTube format (flv, mp4, etc.). I've tried using the Moyea SWF4Tube software but when it was converted all of the timing was gone. I'm fine with uploading as a swf, but the problem was (when I tried) that the codecs weren't appropriate. Any help regarding this is much appreciated, thanks.

  hi folks, I have a DataGridView bound to a table from a .sdf database through a BindSource. The date column display dates like "d/M/yyyy HH:mm:ss". e.: "27/2/1971 00:00:00". I want to make it display just "27/02/1971" in its place. I tried to apply DataGridViewCellStyle {format=dd/MM/yyyy} but nothing happens, event with other pre-built formats. On the the other side, there's a Form with a MasketTextBox with a "dd/MM/yyyy" mask to its input that is bound to the same column and uses a Parse and a Format event handler before display and send it to the db. • Format Java Code in Netbeans / Eclipse, but save it differently

  Hi all, I asked a related question before, but I guess the root of the question is. Let's say I have 2 developers on the team and they both like to look at code in different formats. One likes the braces to be on a new line and the other doesn't. The approach I was using before is that anytime we run a build, the code is automatically formatted according to the Java/Sun standards using Jalopy; however, I would like the developers to be as happy as possible. They can change the font size, font color, background color, etc. If I am currently using the Jalopy Maven plugin to format code, can/should I write a hook to SVN that calls mvn jalopy:format on the project when it's checked in? Is this reliable? That solution doesn't work 100% because it requires the developer to manually format the source code to their liking every time they open a file that hasn't been formatted yet. I was thinking an IDE plugin would be nice as it could automatically format the source to their liking and then save it as another. What other options do I have to ensure the code is formatted nicely on checkin? Thanks, Walter

  I am trying to create a an function that formats US phone numbers -- hopefully without looping through each digit. When 10 digits are passed in all is fine. How ever when more than 10 digits are passed in I want the String.Format method to append the extension digits on the right. • Self-describing file format for gigapixel images?

  In medical imaging, there appears to be two ways of storing huge gigapixel images: Use lots of JPEG images (either packed into files or individually) and cook up some bizarre index format to describe what goes where. Tack on some metadata in some other format. Use TIFF's tile and multi-image support to cleanly store the images as a single file, and provide downsampled versions for zooming speed. Then abuse various TIFF tags to store metadata in non-standard ways. Also, store tiles with overlapping boundaries that must be individually translated later. In both cases, the reader must understand the format well enough to understand how to draw things and read the metadata. Is there a better way to store these images? Is TIFF (or BigTIFF) still the right format for this? Does XMP solve the problem of metadata? The main issues are: Storing images in a way that allows for rapid random access (tiling) Storing downsampled images for rapid zooming (pyramid) Handling cases where tiles are overlapping or sparse (scanners often work by moving a camera over a slide in 2D and capturing only where there is something to image) Storing important metadata, including associated images like a slide's label and thumbnail Support for lossy storage What kind of (hopefully non-proprietary) formats do people use to store large aerial photographs or maps? These images have similar properties.

  Hi, I need to split a date string into pieces and I'm doing it using the public final StringBuffer format (Object object, StringBuffer buffer, FieldPosition field) from the java.text.DateFormat class. However, the implementation of this function is really slow, hence Android has an own implementation in android.text.format.DateFormat. BUT, in my case, I want to extract the different pieces of the date string (year, minute and so on). Since I need to be locale independent, I can not use SimpleDateFormat and custom strings. I do it as follows: Calendar c = ... // find out what field to extract int field = getField(); // Create a date string Field calendarField = DateFormat.Field.ofCalendarField(field); FieldPosition fieldPosition = new FieldPosition(calendarField); StringBuffer label = new StringBuffer(); label = getDateFormat().format(c.getTime(), label, fieldPosition); // Find the piece that we are looking for int beginIndex = fieldPosition.getBeginIndex(); int endIndex = fieldPosition.getEndIndex(); String asString = label.substring(beginIndex, endIndex); For some reason, the format() overload with the FieldPosition argument is not included in the android platform. • Python: Convert format string to regular expression

  The users of my app can configure the layout of certain files via a format string. For example, the config value the user specifies might be: layout = '%(group)s/foo-%(locale)s/file.txt' I now need to find all such files that already exist. This seems easy enough using the glob module: glob_pattern = layout % {'group': '*', 'locale': '*'} glob.glob(glob_pattern) However, now comes the hard part: Given the list of glob results, I need to get all those filename-parts that matched a given placeholder, for example all the different "locale" values. I thought I would generate a regular expression for the format string that I could then match against the list of glob results (or then possibly skipping glob and doing all the matching myself). But I can't find a nice way to create the regex with both the proper group captures, and escaping the rest of the input. For example, this might give me a regex that matches the locales: regex = layout % {'group': '.*', 'locale': (.*)} But to be sure the regex is valid, I need to pass it through re.escape(), which then also escapes the regex syntax I have just inserted. Calling re.escape() first ruins the format string. I know there's fnmatch.translate(), which would even give me a regex - but not one that returns the proper groups. Is there a good way to do this, without a hack like replacing the placeholders with a regex-safe unique value etc.? Is there possibly some way (a third party library perhaps?) that allows dissecting a format string in a more flexible way, for example splitting the string at the placeholder locations?

  I'm using the zend currency module to manage currencies in a web app. I can't figure out how to create a custom format for my currencies, since there are no examples on the documentation pages: http://framework.zend.com/manual/en/zend.currency.options.html From what I read there, I could use the format parameter to set a format, but I can't find a way how. Does anyone have a good code example for this problem? currently I do the following: $currency->setFormat(array (display' => Zend_Currency::USE_SYMBOL)); That works to display only the symbol, but I'm also interested in putting an extra space after or before the symbol and to display currencies like this: "$ 1,234.56 USD" "€ 1.234,56 EUR"

  Hi, I have an input field that captures a date in my form <%= f.text_field :from_date, :style => 'width:80px;' %> The user enters the date in the following format MM/DD/YYYY. However, when there is a validation error in the model and the form is displayed back to the user with the entered values, the date format is converted to YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS UTC. Where do I format this to show MM/DD/YYYY, when the form is displayed to the user. thanks.
