  • Tokenizing a string with unequal number of spaces between fields

    I am tryint to tokenize entries from a file. However I am not able to use the line.split("") option because of unequal number of spaces between files. I am copying a few lines from my file below: "08-09-2010 21:21:46 00:22:7f:a6:9b:69 -79" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:b4:49:49 -79" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:31:4e:59 tikona 18002090044 -83" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 00:22:7f:26:9b:69 tikona 18002090044 -74" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:34:0d:c9 tikona 18002090044 -82" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:71:4e:59 -85" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:34:21:89 tikona 18002090044 -75" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:34:49:49 tikona 18002090044 -77" "08-09-2010 21:21:46 04:4f:aa:74:0d:c9 -85" "08-09-2010 21:22:47 18 APs were seen " I need to access the first column (which is a datetime object) the second column (00:22...) and the last column (-79 etc.). I have no trouble accessing the first and second columns, but not the last column. When I do a info=line.spilt(""), since the third column might or might no entries, I am not able to determine the token number. How do i access the 4th column? Is there a way i can use info[i].contains(" -")?

    I am trying to read the data in a text file which is separated by commas. My problem, is that one of my data pieces has a comma within it. An example of what the text file looks like is: a, b, "c, d", e, f.     I am a developer of an open source project which is hosted in SourceForge. It started out as a little app then after some releases, it got more and more popular and it started consuming more time and responsibility from me. So I have enabled the donation option in SourceForge. I'm passionate to continue developing it for free but if (ever) any money comes in, how should I split it with my team? Should I split the amount equally among the number of team members? (50-50 as it is two-member team now) Number of classes, commits or any other valuable submissions by team members? Any other idea? What would you do in such situation? Please give your opinions. I hope this question will be useful for others.

  • How to split currently used partition on Ubuntu server?

    I would like to split a currently used partition that is mounted to /usr directory. I did this because / only had 1 gb of data allocated to it. Now, I did not account for the /home directory when I made this partition (or I would have made two partitions). So I have 14 gb mounted to usr/ with 12 gb free. Is there a way I can reclaim the free space on this partition to make another partition to mount to /home? Here is the result of a df -h: I have tried to split the /dev/mmcblk1p4 into 2 different partitions but I was not able to save the partition table correctly.

  • Alternative to array_shift function

    Ok, I need keys to be preserved within this array and I just want to shift the 1st element from this array. Actually I know that the first key of this array will always be 1 when I do this: // Sort it by 1st group and 1st layout. ksort($disabled_sections); foreach($disabled_sections as &$grouplayout) ksort($grouplayout); Basically I'd rather not have to ksort it in order to grab this array where the key = 1. And, honestly, I'm not a big fan of array_shift, it just takes to long IMO. Is there another way. Perhaps a way to extract the entire array where $disabled_sections[1] is found without having to do a foreach and sorting it, and array_shift. I just wanna add $disabled[1] to a different array and remove it from this array altogether. While keeping both arrays keys structured the way they are. Technically, it would even be fine to do this: $array = array(); $array = $disabled_sections[1]; But it needs to remove it from $disabled_sections. Can I use something like this approach... $array = array(); $array = $disabled_sections[1]; $disabled_sections -= $disabled_sections[1]; Is something like the above even possible?? Thanks.

  • Advanced Array Sorting in Ruby

    I'm currently working on a project in ruby, and I hit a wall on how I should proceed. In the project I'm using Dir.glob to search a directory and all of its subdirectories for certain file types and placing them into an arrays. The type of files I'm working with all have the same file name and are differentiated by their extensions. For example, txt_files = Dir.glob("**/*.txt") doc_files = Dir.glob("**/*.doc") rtf_files = Dir.glob("**/*.rtf") Would return something similar to, FILECON.txt ASSORTED.txt FIRST.txt FILECON.doc ASSORTED.doc FIRST.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.rtf FIRST.rtf So, the question I have is how I could break down these arrays efficiently (dealing with thousands of files) and placing all files with the same filename into an array. The new array would look like, FILECON.txt FILECON.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.txt ASSORTED.doc ASSORTED.rtf etc. etc. I'm not even sure if glob would be the correct way to do this (all the files with the same file name are in the same folders). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
