  • gnu screen - changing the default escape command key to ALT-X?

    In GNU screen, I want to change the default command binding to Alt-s (by tweaking .screenrc) instead of the default C-a, the reason is I use emacs hence GNU screen binds the C-a key, sending "C-a" to the emacs becomes tedious (as @Nils said, to send "C-a" I should type "C-a a"), as well as "C-a" in bash shell, and I could change the escape to C- but some of them are already mapped in emacs and other combinations are not as easy as ALT-s . If anyone has already done a ALT key mapping, please do let me know.

Basically I will receive line of text in English from the server and I want to convert it to iPad's Locale language settings and display it. Is there anyone I can achieve this?     I have dictionary like d = {'user_id':1, 'user':'user1', 'group_id':3, 'group_name':'ordinary users'} and "mapping" dictionary like: m = {'user_id':'uid', 'group_id':'gid', 'group_name':'group'} All i want to "replace" keys in first dictionary with keys from second (e.g. replace 'user_id' with 'uid', etc.) I know that keys are immutable and i know how to do it with 'if/else' statement. But maybe there is way to do it in one line expression?

    Trying to write a deployment script, working on a repo in a different path. The "git-dir" flag seems to work fine for most commands, but not for submodule work. Am I missing a path directive? Works: git --git-dir=/tmp/repo_path/.git log Doesn't work: git --git-dir=/tmp/repo_path/.git submodule init Error: No submodule mapping found in .gitmodules for path 'path_to/submodule' Much thanks for any help.

    Is it possible to move files from a network location that requires credentials to another network location that also requires credentials without mapping any drive. Person2 Person3 And i would like the package to put this information in a database with standard columns 'Person', 'Day', 'Value'. Does anybody know how to do this - at the moment because the days are going along the top, the package is assuming these are seperate data columns when they are not really and the mapping is not working.

Unfortunately I cannot attach a username and password to requests, ( the request are generated from a GIS mapcontrol) I can think of two ways around it Intercept all web requests from my .NET app and add a username/password Set up an Apache webserver and use proxypass to pass along my request adding a username/password Does anyone know how to do either of these?
