• MVVM Prism Nested Regions Can't Find Child Regions

  I have a Menu (Telerik RadMenu) that has nested regions defined in the Shell. In my modules I will register the modules menu or toolbar items with these regions. Everything works fine for the root regions, but when I try and add something to a child region, such as the File region on the Menu, I get the error "The exception message was: The region manager does not contain the FileMenuRegion region." However like I said if I change this code regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.FileMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); to this regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.MainMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); everything works fine. Below is the XAML for my menu so you can see the region names and how they are constructed. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this is bewildering and driving me crazy. • Determine size of SizeToContent WPF Window before its rendered

  I have a window in my WPF application that is displayed on occasion. When it is shown it is faded in with an annimation, and when closed it is faded out. Nothing fancy, just a storyboard that modifies the opacity. Actually the window is never really closed, the opacity is just faded out to 0 where it remains until its to be displayed again. This window is an informative window and doesn't always show the same content. It is sized to content (Width and Height) and works well in that regard. The user chooses the basic area of the screen for it to be displayed (TopLeft, TopRight, Center, BottomLeft, BottomRight). Before the window is faded in the content is updated. Because the window is sized to content it increases or descreases in size. The width and height can change. When positioning the window, lets say, in the bottom right corner, I simply take the WorkingArea of the screen (width and height) and then minus the width/height of the window to get the Top and Left position that I need. The logic works, but the trouble I am having is the Window's Height and Width is not returning the size it is after the content was updated, but is returning the size it was the last time it was displayed. I am assuming this is because it hasn't yet been rendered with the new content. This causes me grief becuase if the Window is larger than it was the last time it obviously extends off the screen. I tried positioning the window in the OnContentRendered event, but this only fires once when the Window is created, not after the content has been updated, when the opacity is set to 0. Does anyone have any idea how I might get an accurate width and height of this window before it is faded in? Any help would be appreciated!!

• iPhone SDK 3.2 UIGestureRecognizer interfering with UIView animations?

  Are there known issues with gesture recognizers and the UIView class methods for animation? I am having problems with a sequence of animations on a UIImageView from UIGestureRecognizer callback. If the sequence of animations is started from a standard callback like TouchUpInside, the animation works fine. If it is started via the UILongPressGestureRecognizer, then the first animation jumps to the end and the second animation immediately begins. Here's a sample that illustrates my problem. In the .xib for the project, I have a UIImageView that is connected to the viewToMove IBOutlet. I also have a UIButton connected to the startButton IBOutlet, and I have connected its TouchUpInside action to the startButtonClicked IBAction. The TouchUpInside action works as I want it to, but the longPressGestureRecognizer skips to the end of the first animation after about half a second. • External JS usage in FBML - Cannot access external script

  Hi, I am trying to create a small facebook app and associate it to a fan page in a tab. I am trying to include an external javascript file in my page and call a method on a button click event. Below is a part of the code <script language="Javascript" src="http://mysite.com/fb.js"></script> <input type="button" value="Click....." onClick="javascript:showDialog();" /> content of fb.js is as below function showDialog() { new Dialog().showMessage('Dialog', 'Button clickeed'); } When I load the tab in my fan page, it shows an error "Cannot allow external script", whereas when I load the canvas url [http://apps.facebook.com/...] directly and click on the button, it works [shows the dialog]. Does script include works only on the canvas and not on the profile page? I have another question though Initially I had the script src as a relative path but it errored out with the same error - "Cannot allow external script". Can't I use relative path for the external scripts?

• Android: Autoscrolling HorizontalScrollView

  I'm using the following code to simulate tabs and since there are more tabs that width can accommodate user can scroll left or right to make a tab button visible. It all works, however I also provide user with ability to fling between tabs by swiping finger left or right on the tab contents. Again - it works. But when I fling to the rightmost tab its corresponding button is barely visible. I want to autoscroll table inside the HorizontalScrollView so the selected tab button will be visible but when I execute HorizontalScrollView.smoothScrollTo(300, 0) nothing happens. It doen't matter how high I set first x parameter nothing will ever move (yes I do have an algorithm to calculate exact position). • JavaFX Datagrid

  Hi All. Im in the verge of starting a new RIA development. We've been using Flex/Flash for the last 2 years but we were considering using a more OS approach so we though giving JavaFX a try since it seams the only solid option available. However after a couple of days of research we found out that there is not such thing as a datagrid for it, at least not in the core API. For those unfamiliar with Flex, a Datagrid is a component that allows you to display a collection of data in column-row layout (much like a HTML Table on steroids). The beauty of it is that you only need to worry about the data itself as the component does pretty much the rest (sorting, column dragging, etc). Im afraid to ask... but is there something slightly similar for JavaFX? We require nothing as fancy as Flex Datagrids/AdvancedDatagrids, we only require a easy, straight forward way to display grids of data that are able to have a little of interaction like clicking, sorting and that are able to display images, buttons, etc. without having to download a ton of different jars. If there isn´t something out there... This would be a shot in the back of the head to the idea of giving javaFx the chance to compete with flash on our project (which is sad). I really cant believe the SUN people didnt include something like this on the core API...

• Entity Framework with MySQL - Timeout Expired while Generating Model

  I've constructed a database in MySQL and I am attempting to map it out with Entity Framework, but I start running into "GenerateSSDLException"s whenever I try to add more than about 20 tables to the EF context. An exception of type 'Microsoft.Data.Entity.Design.VisualStudio.ModelWizard.Engine.ModelBuilderEngine+GenerateSSDLException' occurred while attempting to update from the database. The exception message is: 'An error occurred while executing the command definition. See the inner exception for details.' Fatal error encountered during command execution. Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. There's nothing special about the affected tables, and it's never the same table(s), it's just that after a certain (unspecific) number of tables have been added, the context can no longer be updated without the "Timeout expired" error. Sometimes it's only one table left over, and sometimes it's three; results are pretty unpredictable. Furthermore, the variance in the number of tables which can be added before the error indicates to me that perhaps the problem lies in the size of the query being generated to update the context which includes both the existing table definitions, and also the new tables that are being added to it. Essentially, the SQL query is getting too large and it's failing to execute for some reason. If I generate the model with EdmGen2 it works without any errors, but the generated EDMX file cannot be updated within Visual Studio without producing the aforementioned exception. In all likelihood the source of this problem lies in the tool within Visual Studio given that EdmGen2 works fine, but I'm hoping that perhaps others could offer some advice on how to approach this very unique issue, because it seems like I'm not the only person experiencing it. One suggestion a colleague offered was maintaining two separate EBMX files with some table crossover, but that seems like a pretty ugly fix in my opinion. I suppose this is what I get for trying to use "new technology". :(

• Android: Adding extended GLSurfaceView to a Layout don't show 3d stuff

  I make a game extending the class GLSurfaceView, if I apply SetContentView directly to that class, the 3d stuff and input works great. Now I want to show some items over 3d stuff, so I create a XML with a layout and some objects, and I try to add my class manually to the layout. • ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

  I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected.   OK I've seen a few people with this issue - but I'm already using a file path, not a relative path. My code works fine on my PC, but when another developer goes to upload an image they get this error. I thought it was a security permission thing on the folder - but the system account has full access to the folder (though I get confused about how to test which account the application is running under).   I have C++ project in the Ubuntu OS, Eclipse CDT. My final goal is to build the project binaries for FreeBSD OS. The first test. I create simple C++ CDT project with main.cpp file: cout << "OK" << endl; and build it.   Hi, I am generating a PDF with fPDF. I need to strikethrough a long text inside a MultiCell. The text is justified to left and right, which probably is the source of the problem. • Problem with jqGrid in Internet Explorer 8

  I have developed an ASP.NET MVC (version 2 RC) application with a ton of jqGrids. It's working like a champ in Firefox, but I've discovered a problem in IE8. The "Main View" grids can be filtered by a search box or one of a few dropdowns above the grid. The IE8 client-side debugger is like flint and tinder compared to Firebug's flamethrower, so I'm not having much luck figuring out why it breaks in IE8. Has anyone seen this? Also, the jqGrid "trigger" method here is swallowing the AJAX exception. Is there a way to get it to bubble up so I can get to the exception details? UPDATE: The problem was with the syntax in my "onchange" event for the dropdowns. I was using: onchange="filterByMnemonic($('#drpMnemonic')[0].value); Which Firefox apparently doesn't mind but IE sees that as nuthin'.   In ASP.net web service if the above isn't specified , what is the response format by default? I took the basics of combining Jquery's ajax with asp.net from Encosia side, and the response type wasn't mentioned there - I read it on another site and am I not sure how vital it is.

• Calling C# object method from IronPython

  I'm trying to embed a scripting engine in my game. Since I'm writing it in C#, I figured IronPython would be a great fit, but the examples I've been able to find all focus on calling IronPython methods in C# instead of C# methods in IronPython scripts. To complicate things, I'm using Visual Studio 2010 RC1 on Windows 7 64 bit. IronRuby works like I expect it would, but I'm not very familiar with Ruby or Python syntax. What I'm doing: ScriptEngine engine = Python.CreateEngine(); ScriptScope scope = engine.CreateScope(); //Test class with a method that prints to the screen. scope.SetVariable("test", this); ScriptSource source = engine.CreateScriptSourceFromString("test.SayHello()", Microsoft.Scripting.SourceCodeKind.Statements); source.Execute(scope); This generates an error, "'TestClass' object has no attribute 'SayHello'" This exact set up works fine with IronRuby though using "self.test.SayHello()" I'm wary using IronRuby though because it doesn't appear as mature as IronPython. If it's close enough, I might go with that though. Any ideas? I know this has to be something simple.

• Javascript or CSS hover not working in Safari and Chrome

  I have a problem with a script for a image gallery. The problem seems to only occur on Safari and Chrome, but if I refresh the page I get it to work correctly - weird! Correct function: The gallery has a top bar, which if you hover over it, it will display a caption. Below sits the main image. At the bottom there is another bar that is a reversal of the top bar. When you hover over it, it will display thumbnails of the gallery. The problem: In Safari and Chrome, the thumbnail holder will not display. In fact, it doesn't even show it as an active item (or a rollover). But oddly enough, if you manually refresh the page it begins to work correctly for the rest of the time you view the page. Once you have left the page and return the same error occurs again and you have to go through the same process. • Getting rid of scroll bar for position: absolute inside of position:relative inside of overflow:auto

  Hey guys, my first question here on stack overflow. Trying to get something pretty simple to work, I'm sure I'm missing something quite obvious. Still getting used to the "standard" css, too many years working with non-functional ones! Heh. So, sample of what I'm doing: <div style="overflow: auto; border: 1px solid"> hello <div style="position: relative; z-index: 99999; top: 0px; left: 0px;"> <div style="z-index: 99999; overflow-y: hidden; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; height: 200px; left: 0; auto: 0"> <ul> <li >New</li> <li >Old</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> In essence: The first div is a container, that I would like to automatically overflow as content is added. Inside of that container, I have a popup menu, which I have simplified here. The popup menu appears (as it should) directly under "hello". My problem, however, is that instead of the popup menu "coming out" of the parent, as would be expected by the absolute position, it is actually causing a scrollbar to appear on the parent. I know that if I take otu the "position: relative" it works, but then it no longer appars where I want it (directly under the previous element). What am I missing here?   Hello, i am using the ghostscriptsharp wrapper for c# and ghostscript. I want to generate thumbnails out of pdf-files. Further Information on the sample-code are given here. There are different Methods imported form the ghostscript-c-dll "gsdll32.dll". [DllImport("gsdll32.dll", EntryPoint = "gsapi_new_instance")] private static extern int CreateAPIInstance(out IntPtr pinstance, IntPtr caller_handle); [DllImport("gsdll32.dll", EntryPoint = "gsapi_init_with_args")] private static extern int InitAPI(IntPtr instance, int argc, IntPtr argv); //...and so on I am using the GhostscriptWrapper for generating the thumbnails in a webapplication (.net 2.0). This class uses the methods imported above. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e){ GhostscriptWrapper.GeneratePageThumb("c:\\sample.pdf", "c:\\sample.jpg", 1, 100, 100); } When i debug the Web-Application in Visual Studio 2008 by hitting key "F5" it works fine (a new instance of webserver is generated). When i create a WindowsForm Application it works too. The thumbnails get generated. When i access the application with the webbrowser directly (http://localhoast/mywebappliation/..) it doesn't work. No thumbnails are generated. But there is also no exception thrown. I placed the gsdll32.dll in the system32-folder of windows xp. The Ghostscript Runtime is installed too. I have given full access in the IIS-Webproject (.Net 2.0). Does anybody know why i can't access Ghostscript from my webapplication? Are there any security-issues for accessing dll-files on the IIS-Server? Greetings Klaus

• How to get only one rounded corner with border-radius htc hack and MSIE v:roundrect?

  I have a problem with partially rounded corners. See the first working example for most browsers: .box { display: block; width: 100px; height: 100px; border: 1px solid black; background-color: yellow; -moz-border-radius-bottomright: 10px; -webkit-border-bottom-right-radius: 10px; } You can see that only bottom right corner should be rounded. Natural choice would be adding a border-radius.htc hack inside a conditional IE statement: .box { border-bottom-right-radius: 20px; behavior:url(border-radius.htc); } This is not working because border-radius.htc file is only accessing normal border-radius value (this.currentStyle['border-radius']). VML used by the hack is roundrect which only supports one percentage value for arcsize. So I was wondering if there is any other way around the problem by using some other VML elements? Another problem is that htc-file doesnt's support borders but that can be fixed with VML's stroked attribute. Nifty corners for example doesn't work well with corners at all.

• Powershell Transcript is empty when running script from SQL Agent Job in 2005 SQL Server

  I have a complex Powershell script that gets run as part of a SQL 2005 Server Agent Job. The script works fine, but it uses the "Start-Transcript $strLogfile -Append" command to log all of it's actions to a transcript file. The problem is that the transcript is always empty. It adds the header and footer to indicate that the transcript is starting and stopping, but it doesn't actually log anything. Example: ********************** Windows PowerShell Transcript Start Start time: 20100304173001 Username : xxxxxxxxxxxx\SYSTEM Machine : xxxxx-xxx (Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2) ********************** ********************** Windows PowerShell Transcript End End time: 20100304173118 ********************** When I execute the script from a command prompt or start - run everything works just fine. Here is the command used to run the script (same command used in the Operating system CmdExec step of the SQL Agent Job) powershell.exe -File "c:\temp\Backup\backup script.ps1" I first thought it must have something to do with the script running under the System account (default SQL Agent account), but even when I tried changing the SQL Agent to run under my own personal account it still created a blank transcript. Is there any way to get PowerShell Transcripts to work when executing them as part of a 2005 SQL Server Agent Job?

However, I also need to have the column names exported with the data and I can't seem to get that to work. • How do I properly host a WCF Data Service in IIS? Why am I getting errors?

  I'm playing around with WCF Data Services (ADO.NET Data Services). I have an entity framework model pointed at the AdventureWorks database. When I debug my svc file from within Visual Studio, it works great. I can say /awservice.svc/Customers and get back the ATOM feed I expect. If I publish the service (hosted in an ASP.NET web application) to IIS7, the same query string returns a 500 fault. The root svc page itself works as expected and successfully returns ATOM. The /Customers path fails. • Binding "Text-Property" of a derived textbox to another textbox doesn´t work

  Hello, i have a class 'MyTextBox' that derives from the default TextBox in Silverlight. This class currently contains no additional code. I set up a binding in xaml to bind the Text-Property of MyTextbox to another Textbox to reflect the input made in the Textbox. The effect is that MyTextBox doesn´t update and not display the text of the other Textbox. Additional i made an equal binding for a normal Textbox. And this works. PS: I tried a binding to a dummy object with INotifyPropertyChanged and set it as DataContext for the existing Textboxes. This test works as expected and my derived textbox gets updated.
