• IF Statement has strange behavior

  I've developed a 'custom' cout, so that I can display text to console and also print it to a log file. This cout class is passed a different integer on initialization, with the integer representing the verbosity level of the message. If the current verbosity level is greater then or equal to the verbosity level of the message, the message should print. The problem is, I have messages printing even when the current verbosity level is too low. I went ahead and debugged it, expecting to find the problem. Instead, I found multiple scenarios where my if statements are not working as expected. The statement if(ilralevel_passed <= ilralevel_set) will sometimes proceed even if ilralevel_set is LESS then ilralevel_passed. You can see this behavior in the following picture (my apologizes for using Twitpic) http://twitpic.com/1xtx4g/full. Notice how ilralevel_set is equal to zero, and ilralevel_passed is equal to one. Yet, the if statement has returned true and is now moving forward to pass the line to cout. I've never seen this type of behavior before and I'm not exactly sure how to proceed debugging it. I'm not able to isolate the behavior either -- it only occurs in certain parts of my program. • Hotfixing Code running inside Web Container with Groovy

  I have a webapp running that has a bug. I know how to fix it in the sources. However I cannot redeploy the app as I would have to take it offline to do so. (At least not right now). I now want to fix the code "at runtime". Surgery on the living object, so to speak. The app is implemented in Java and is build on top of Seam. I have added a Groovy Console to the app previous to the last release. (A way to run arbitrary code at runtime) The normal way of adding behaviour to a class with Groovy would be similar to this: String.metaClass.foo= { x -> x * x } println "anything".foo(3) This code added the method foo to java.lang.String and prints 9. I can do the same thing with classes running inside my webapp container. New instances will thereafter show the same behaviour: com.my.package.SomeService.metaClass.foo= { x -> x * x } def someService = new com.my.package.SomeService() println someService.foo(3) Works as excpected. All good so far. My problem is now that the container, the web framework, Seam in this case, has already instantiated and cached the classes that I would like to manipulate (that is change their behaviour to reflect my bug fix). Ideally this code would work: com.my.package.SomeService.metaClass.foo= { x -> x * x } def x = org.jboss.seam.Component.getInstance(com.my.package.SomeService) println x.foo(3) However the instantiation of SomeService has already happened and there is no effect. Thus I need a way to make my changes "sticky". Has the groovy magic gone after my script has been run? Well, after logging out and in again, I can run this piece of code and get the expected result: def someService = new com.my.package.SomeService() println someService.foo(3) So the foo method is still around and it looks like my change has been permanent... So I guess the question that remains is how to force Seam to re-instantiate all its components and/or how to permanently make the change on all living instances...?

• compiling a program to run in DOS mode

  I write a simple program, to run in DOS mode. Everything works under emulated console in Win XP / Vista / Seven, but not in DOS. The error says: this program caonnot be run in DOS mode. I wonder is that a problem with compiler flags or something bigger. For programming i use Code::Blocks v 8.02 with such settings for compilation: -Wall -W -pedantic -pedantic-errors in Project \ Build options \ Compiler settings I've tried a clean DOS mode, booting from cd, and also setting up DOS in Virtual Machine. The same error appears. Should i turn on some more compiler flags ? Some specific 386 / 486 optimizations ? UPDATE Ok, i've downloaded, installed and configured DJGPP. Even resolved some problems with libs and includes. Still have two questions. 1) i can't compile a code, which calls _strdate and _strtime, i've double checked the includes, as MSDN says it needs time.h, but still error says: _strdate was not declared in this scope, i even tried to add std::_strdate, but then i have 4, not 2 errors sazing the same 2) the 2nd code is about gotoxy, it looks like that: #include <windows.h> void gotoxy(int x, int y) { COORD position; position.X = x; position.Y = y; SetConsoleCursorPosition(GetStdHandle(STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE), position); } error says there is no windows.h, so i've put it in place, but then there are many more errors saying some is missing from windows.h, I SUPPOSE it won't work because this functions is strictly for windows right ? is there any way to write similar gotoxy for DOS ? UPDATE2 1) solved using time(); instead of _strdate(); and _strtime(); here's the code time_t rawtime; struct tm * timeinfo; char buffer [20]; time ( &rawtime ); timeinfo = localtime ( &rawtime ); strftime (buffer,80,"%Y.%m.%d %H:%M:%S\0",timeinfo); string myTime(buffer); It now compiles under DJGPP. • C# Extend array type to overload operators

  I'd like to create my own class extending array of ints. Is that possible? What I need is array of ints that can be added by "+" operator to another array (each element added to each), and compared by "==", so it could (hopefully) be used as a key in dictionary. The thing is I don't want to implement whole IList interface to my new class, but only add those two operators to existing array class. I'm trying to do something like this: class MyArray : Array<int> But it's not working that way obviously ;). Sorry if I'm unclear but I'm searching solution for hours now... • Rails: How do I unserialize from database?

  Hello, I am currently trying to save information for an invoice/bill. On the invoice I want to show what the total price is made up of. The procedures & items, their price and the qty. So in the end I hope to get it to look like this: Consult [date] [total_price] Procedure_name [price] [qty] Procedure_name [price] [qty] Consult [date] [total_price] Procedure_name [price] [qty] etc... All this information is available through the database but i want to save the information as a separate copy. That way if the user changes the price of some procedures the invoice information is still correct. I thought i'd do this by serializing and save the data to a column (consult_data) in the Invoice table. I tried defining a variable to the consult_data attribute and then doing "variable.consult_problem" or "variable[:consult_problem]" (also tried looping) but it only throws no-method-errors back at me. Unfortunately, the string that I am trying to quote is rather messy, but I will post it here in case anyone wants to paste it into WinMerge or KDiff3, etc. I am trying to store an entire Delphi form into the database, rather than into a .DFM file. It has only one field, a TEdit edit box. What am I doing that is obviously, glaringly wrong?

• deleted gen folder, eclipse isn't generating it now :(

  I accidentally deleted my gen folder and now, predictably, my resources are all messed up. I just created a gen folder myself and tried to project clean - that didn't work. Tried right-clicking project and going to android tools fix project properties - didn't work. Tried unchecking build automatically...didn't work. cleaned, closed project, closed eclipse, restarted, etc, etc. Nothing is working and I keep seeing this error: gen already exists but is not a source folder. Convert to a source folder or rename it.   I'm using itextsharp to join mutiple pdf documents and add a footer. The given example works for PdfReader but not for PdfCopy. Edit: Why do I need PdfCopy? I tried copying a word pdf export. Is there an easy way to do this or am I going about this the wrong way? (note: this is a console project only, no GUI) ========== code edited I've changed the code to the above following the recommendations, and it works almost as I expect however the thread still doesnt seem to end properly. I was the while loop would die and control would eventually come back to the main method. Any ideas?

Right now I am getting "The system cannot find the file specified" on Assemblies referenced in my so called modules. I cannot really get how to use the AssemblyResolve event... The longer version I have one application, MODULECONTROLLER, that loads separate modules. These "separate modules" are located in well-known subdirectories, like appBinDir\Modules\Module1 appBinDir\Modules\Module2 Each directory contains all the DLLs that exists in the bin-directory of those projects after a build. So the MODULECONTROLLER loads all the DLLs contained in those folders using this code: byte[] bytes = File.ReadAllBytes(dllFileFullPath); Assembly assembly = null; assembly = Assembly.Load(bytes); I am, as you can see, loading the byte[]-array (so I dont lock the DLL-files). Now, in for example MODULE1, I have a static reference called MyGreatXmlProtocol. The MyGreatXmlProtocol.dll then also exists in the directory appBinDir\Modules\Module1 and is loaded using the above code When code in the MODULE1 tries to use this MyGreatXmlProtocol, I get: Could not load file or assembly 'MyGreatXmlProtocol, Version=1.0.3797.26527, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. So, in a post (like this one) they say that To my understanding reflection will load the main assembly and then search the GAC for the referenced assemblies, if it cannot find it there, you can then incorparate an assemblyResolve event: First; is it really needed to use the AssemblyResolve-event to make this work? Shouldnt my different MODULEs themself load their DLLs, as they are statically referenced? Second; if AssemblyResolve is the way to go - how do I use it? • IE8 isn't resizing tbody or thead when a column is hidden in a table with table-layout:fixed

  IE 8 is doing something very strange when I hide a column in a table with table-layout:fixed. The column is hidden, the table element stays the same width, but the tbody and thead elements are not resized to fill the remaining width. It works in IE7 mode (and FF, Chrome, etc. of course). Has anyone seen this before or know of a workaround? This work for the usercontrol within RowDetailsTemplate but not in the CellTemplate. I'm building a map editor and to put more tiles on the map, i'll have to add values to this json object. • HTML5 Video Tag in Chrome - Why is currentTime ignored when video downloaded from my webserver?

  I want to be able to play back video from a specific time using the HTML5 video tag (and currently only need to worry about Chrome). This is possible by setting the currentTime property of a video element. That works fine in Chrome with a video sourced from html5rocks.com, but is ignored when the same file is loaded from my own local webserver. But if I download the webm file in the source src to my local webserver, and change src to point locally: <source src="chrome_japan.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'/> ...then setting currentTime is complete ignored. No errors are showing in the developer tools console. Now, my webserver is serving this with mime type "video/webm", but it will be served like any old file -- not streamed. Do I need a webserver that streams in some specific way? What else could be at fault here? Note: The webserver is a proprietary platform and won't have any of the same exact settings or controls one might expect of Tomcat or some other commonly used webserver, though there may be other ways to achieve the same effect.

  On Rails 2.3.8 (but I think Rails 3 might have this issue as well, not sure): I get an error when trying to execute a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE query after reconnecting to a database. I have a process that parses a file that can potentially take a bit of time. During the parsing, Mysql closes the connection due to timeout. This is fine, I do a ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! and I get the connection back (I do this in several places through my app). However, running a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE statement, I get this error: Mysql::Error: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version It's not a permission issue, I know that for sure. • Maven2 not compiling source

  Hi, I am new to Maven2 and have been having an issue with the compiling of the source for a RAR. Maven currently copies all the information located at my sourceDirectory instead of compiling it even though the console states that the source is being compiled. If I navigate to the sourceDirectory I find all my source files with no compiled class files. I have tried changing my outputDirectory to a different location and when I inspect this directory I find that it only copied my source files instead of compiling them. I have added an example of my POM. • Problem with tcp server when converting to service

  Hello lads, I'm working on monitoring some object (cdr-packets). I'm setting up a tcp-server and am listening on port 50043 for the packages. The program as a console application is working just fine, my server is working like it should and i'm receiving the packets. When i try to use it as a service, i cannot seem to get a client connected to my server. Is there something i need to change to deploy this as a service?   Below is my original question. I kept investigating and found out that the type of the button I allocate is of type UIButton instead of the subclassed type CustomButton. the capture below is the allocation of the button and connection to target. I break immediately after the allocation and check the button type (po rightButton at the debugger console). It's turned out tht the type is UIButton instead of CustomButton. CustomButton* rightButton = [CustomButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; [rightButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showDetails:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; I have a mapView to which I add annotations. The pin's callout have a button (rightCalloutAccessoryView).
