• Windows authentication - MVC 2 ASP.Net

  Hi there Having real problems moving my app over to windows authentication. the sql error messages are to do with problems creating in the aspnetdb.mdf file. • ASP.NET MVC 2 / Localization / Dynamic Default Value?

But there is one exception: If the user requests the page for the first time, like calling "http://www.mysite.com" I want to set the initial language if possible to the one "preferred by the browser". How can I distinguish in an early procesing stage (like global.asax), if the default parameter has been set because of the default value or mentioned explicit through the URL? (I would prefer a solution where the request URL is not getting parsed). Is there a way to dynamically provide a default-value for a paramter? Something like a hook? Or where can I override the default value (good application event?).   I am currently using Visual Studio 2008 for my ASP .NET application. I am trying to Export some reports with Japanese Characters to Excel via the Response object. When I try to Export, all the Japanese characters looks garbled. It works fine with Chinese Characters. • Binding Entity Framework Collections Simply Using ASP.NET MVC

  To begin with: Using Entity Framework v4.0. ASP.NET MVC 2.0. Visual Studio 2010. I have a model that consists simply of an order & order items. What I want to do is simply bind that model without too much hassle where possible (avoiding type converters, etc). Simply the model looks like this: public class Order { public int ID { get; set; } public string OrderNumber { get; set; } public EntityCollection<OrderItem> Items { get; set; } } public class OrderItem { public int ID { get; set; } public string Qty { get; set; } } This is as simple as I want to keep it. This model is coming directly from the code generated by the entity framework generator. I would prefer to use the model directly from the entity framework (I know there are views saying this is a bad thing, but alas). • DropDownList not working 100% in ASP.Net MVC

  I am quite confused with how to effectively use the Html.DropDownList helper for ASP.NET MVC. Background: I have a 5-page form, which saves data to the form each time "Next" is clicked. Users may navigate back and forth between sections, so previous sections will already be pre-populated with previously-entered data. This works for TextBoxes. But not DropDownLists.   We have 2 servers, 1 already configured with .net which works fine and a new one which appears to be configured the same but when I open an xml page in Internet Explorer it complains about the <% tag. We have IIS on win srvr 2003 SP2. The website is configured with .NET 1.1.4322. In ISAPI extensions have set the .XML extension to use c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_isapi.dll But the page: <property name="documentmaxage" value="0"/> <property name="documentmaxstale" value="0"/> <var name="m_Prompt_Path" /> <form id="InitVoiceXmlDoc"> <block> <assign name="m_Prompt_Path" expr="&quot;<% Response.Write(Request.QueryString["m_Prompt_Path"]); %>&quot;"/> </block> </form> gives the error: The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. • Getting an ASP.MVC2/VS2010 application to work in IIS 7.5

  I've recently downloaded beta 2 of VS2010 and started playing with ASP.NET MVC2. Initial development was done with Casini, but now I wanted to run the application from IIS 7.5 (I'm running Windows 7). I've installed the IIS6 metabase compatiblity and I run VS2010 as administrator so I can use the "Create Virtual Directory" button from the "Web" tab of the project settings. This created the web application entry in IIS, but it doesn't work. When I go to the main page (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/) I get a HTTP 403 error. When I go directly to one of the sub-pages (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/Home/) I get an HTTP 404. So I guess for some reason the URL routing isn't working. I've already added UrlRouting as a module and a handler to the web.config. In my searches this is offered as a solution for some similair problems. But for me this still doesn't work.   Hi I'm using Steve Sanderson's BeginCollectionItem helper with ASP.NET MVC 2 to model bind a collection if items. That works fine, as long as the Model of the collection items does not contain another collection. I have a model like this: -Product --Variants ---IncludedAttributes Whenever I render and model bind the Variants collection, it works jusst fine. The refresh works ok when I just open the page, but when I click on one of the treeviews and expand it, the refresh stopps working and the page isnt being refreshed. Any ideas why this can happen? Is there any connection to the treeview being expanded? • Why oh why doesn't my asp.net treeview update?

  I'm using an ASP.net treeview on a page with a custom XmlDataSource. When the user clicks on a node of the tree, a detailsview pops up and edits a bunch of things about the underlying object. All this works properly, and the underlying object gets updated in my background object-management classes. Yay! However, my treeview just isn't updating the display. Either immediately (which i would like it to), or on full page re-load (which is the minimal useful level i need it to be at). Am i subclassing XmlDataSource poorly? I really don't know. Can anyone point me in a good direction? Thanks! • layout is not included in all pages in asp.net mvc4 application

  I am developing an asp.net mvc4 application with Bootstrap 3 and i've _Layout.cshtml in "Shared" folder , in Views, i've two pages, "Index and "Register" and i've included Layout in both of these Views but It seems that Layout is included in only "Index and not in "Register" View.
