• SCCM 2012 - Windows 8 WSUS

  We're using SCCM 2012 to deploy Windows Updates on our domain, and our Windows 8 clients have started failing with error 80240438 when they try to update. Windows 7 clients update fine, but Windows 8 clients refuse to do anything. I've done a search online and it seems to only reference Windows InTune. Has anyone seen any similar behavior on Windows 8 machines? If we don't get that error, we're getting 80244021 which seems to indicate that the server can't be found.... but they can resolve it just fine and our exceptions are defined on the proxy too. • Attempting to update multiple partial views from a single Ajax.ActionLink

  I have a a partial view which contains other partial views. I am trying to the main partial view ( "MainPartialView" ) from an Ajax.ActionLink in a partial view contained by the main partial view ( "DetailsView" ). Everything appears to be called just fine and I can step through and it executes all of the code on the pages. However, after that is all done it throws this error in a popup box in visual studio: htmlfile: Unknown runtime error This error puts the break point in the MicrosoftAjax.js file, Line 5, Col 83,632, Ch 83632.   I'm with a really weird bug with asp.net mvc2 (rtm) and ValidationMessageFor. The example below throws a System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException on Response.Write(Html.ValidationMessageFor(n = n[index].Name)); Any ideas why thats happening? I'm accessing the same dictionary twice before, but it only throws the error on ValidationMessageFor, any thoughts? • AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll files deleted

  I'm using the ASP.NET Ajax toolkit. In addition to the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in my bin directory, I have language directories named es, de, fr, etc... The single file, the AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll disappears from these directories every once in a while - I can't figure out why. I manually copy them back, but I've purposely done rebuild and clean solutions and they are still there. Somewhere during my normal course of work, when I'm not looking, they're gone. Any clues?

• PowerShell: New-PSDrive error handling

  Hello, I have a script where I mount with the command "New-PSDrive" a network drive. Now, since the script is running as a "cronjob" on a server I want to have some error detection. If for any reason the command New-PSDrive fails the script should stop executing and notify that something went wrong. I have the following code: Try { New-PSDrive -Name A -PSProvider FileSystem -Root \\server\share } Catch { ... handle error case ... } ... other code ... For testing reasons I specified a wrong server name and I get the following error "New-PSDrive : Drive root "\wrongserver\share" does not exist or it's not a folder". Which is OK since the server does not exists. But the script does not go into the Catch clause and stop. It happily continues to run and ends up in a mess since no drive is mounted :-) So my question, why? Is there any difference in Exception handling in PowerShell? I should also note that I'm a noob in PowerShell scripting. Bye, Martin

  Alex Papadimoulis' Smart Paster is a great little tool that can paste text in programmer-friendly ways (e.g. as a StringBuilder, as a language-specific string literal, etc.). However, it doesn't seem to be available for VS2010. Anyone know of a similar extension or of plans to port Smart Paster?

• Converting a WPFToolkit DataGrid from 1D list to 2D matrix

  Hello - I am wondering if anyone has attempted the following or has an idea as to how to do it. I have a WPFToolkit DataGrid which is bound to an ObservableCollection of items. As such, the DataGrid is shown with as many rows in the ObservableCollection, and as many columns as I have defined in for the DataGrid. That all is good. What I now need is to provide another view of the same data, only, instead, the DataGrid is shown with as many cells in the ObservableCollection. So let's say, my ObservableCollection has 100 items in it. The original scenario showed the DataGrid with 100 rows and 1 column. In the modified scenario, I need to show it with 10 rows and 10 columns, where each cell shows the value that was in the original representation. In other words, I need to transform my 1D ObservableCollection to a 2D ObservableCollection and display it in the DataGrid. I know how to do that programmatically in the code behind, but can it be done in XAML? Let me simplify the problem a little, in case anybody can have a crack at this. The XAML below does the following: * Defines an XmlDataProvider just for dummy data * Creates a DataGrid with 10 columns o each column is a DataGridTemplateColumn using the same CellTemplate * The CellTemplate is a simple TextBlock bound to an XML element If you run the XAML below, you will find that the DataGrid ends up with 5 rows, one for each book, and 10 columns that have identical content (all showing the book titles). However, what I am trying to accomplish, albeit with a different data set, is that in this case, I would end up with one row, with each book title appearing in a single cell in row 1, occupying cells 0-4, and nothing in cells 5-9. Then, if I added more data and had 12 books in my XML data source, I would get row 1 completely filled (cells covering the first 10 titles) and row 2 would get the first 2 cells filled. Can my scenario be accomplished primarily in XAML, or should I resign myself to working in the code behind? Any guidance would greatly be appreciated. • Using ILDASM with Visual Studio 2008

  I just installed Visual Studio 2008, and am looking to use the Microsoft Intermediate Language Disassembler (ILDASM.exe) to look at some DLLs. Problem is, "ildasm" is not recognized on the command line, and I cannot find ildasm.exe anywhere in my VS 2008 install directory (e.g. c:\programs\Visual_Studio_9.0\). Any ideas? UPDATE: Found it! At C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin This answer helped.
