    I have a list L of objects (for what it's worth this is in scons). I would like to create two lists L1 and L2 where L1 is L with an item I1 appended, and L2 is L with an item I2 appended. I would use append but that modifies the original list. How can I do this in Python? (sorry for the beginner question, I don't use the language much, just for scons)

    I'm wondering specifically what experienced programmers thought when they started developing in Python. I'm sure the answer depends on your background, but my own personal answer is the conversion of basically anything in the language to a True/False value in boolean contexts. Resulting in "oddities" like: if x: not meaning the same thing as: if x == True: I understand why, but it bugs me, and I certainly had to think about it a bit when I first ran into it.

Essentially what I am trying to do is change the color of each pixel in a 256 x 256 texture that is within a certain radius from a specific pixel (Using the Unity3d Game Engine). The whole thing contains millions lines of code, so rewritning it all in some other language is not an option. We could write some extra code or make isolated changes, but rewriting everything is out of the question. Now we'd like to put it on a cloud.     I came upon a comment on another forum today and one user responding to another suggested that a CS degree is really only good for one through two years at the most, and after that its as if you never had it. Is this really true? is this what employers think? When I did CS I never learned anything new, we learned fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, time complexity, OS fundamentals, language characteristics. Most of this stuff has been around for the past 20 years or so.
