• Who spotted the omission?

  In my entry OFM 11g: Install OAM 10.1.4.3 (32-bit) on 64-bit RedHat AS 5 I explained how to install OAM 10.1.4.3 (32-bit) on 64-bit RedHat. This is great and works. If you seriously want to use OAM 10.1.4.3 you should consider OHS 11g 32-bit. But this installation is a bit tricky. Nearly all tricks to get this done are described in the above mentioned entry. Today I realized that I missed a small bit to get the installation successfully done.The missing part is within the script to create a vital piece of the OHS 11g package. This part is called genclientsh and resides in $OHS_HOME/bin. This script uses gcc to link binaries. By default this script works great, but on a 64-bit Linux it fails. To get around this, find the variable LD and change the value of gcc to gcc -m32.Done. Caveat On support.oracle.com you will find a Note that suggests to build a small shell script named gcc and includes the -m32 switch. Actually, I consider this as dangerous, because we are humans and tend to forget things quickly. Building a globally available script that changes things for a single setup has side effects that will result in unpredictable results.

• Grouping a comma separated value on common data [closed]

  I have a table with col1 id int, col2 as varchar (comma separated values) and column 3 for assigning group to them. Table looks like col1 col2 group .............................. 1 2,3,4 2 5,6 3 1,2,5 4 7,8 5 11,3 6 22,8 This is only the sample of real data, now I have to assign a group no to them in such a way that output looks like col1 col2 group .............................. 1 2,3,4 1 2 5,6 1 3 1,2,5 1 4 7,8 2 5 11,3 1 6 22,8 2 The logic for assigning group no is that every similar comma separated value of string in col2 have to be same group no as every where in col2 where '2' is there it has to be same group no but the complication is that 2,3,4 are together so they all three int value if found in any where in col2 will be assigned same group. The major part is 2,3,4 and 1,2,5 both in col2 have 2 so all int 1,2,3,4,5 have to assign same group no. Tried store procedure with match against on col2 but not getting desired result Most imp (I can't use normalization, because I can't afford to make new table from my original table which have millions of records), even normalization is not helpful in my context. • SOA Starting Point: Methods for Service Identification and Definition

  As more and more companies start to incorporate a Service Oriented Architectural design approach into their existing enterprise systems, it creates the need for a standardized integration technology. One common technology used by companies is an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). An ESB, as defined by Progress Software, connects and mediates all communications and interactions between services. In essence an ESB is a form of middleware that allows services to communicate with one another regardless of framework, environment, or location. With the emergence of ESB, a new emphasis is now being placed on approaches that can be used to determine what Web services should be built. In addition, what order should these services be built? In May 2011, SOA Magazine published an article that identified 10 common methods for identifying and defining services. SOA’s Ten Common Methods for Service Identification and Definition: Business Process Decomposition Business Functions Business Entity Objects Ownership and Responsibility Goal-Driven Component-Based Existing Supply (Bottom-Up) Front-Office Application Usage Analysis Infrastructure Non-Functional Requirements  Each of these methods provides various pros and cons in regards to their use within the design process. I personally feel that during a design process, multiple methodologies should be used in order to accurately define a design for a system or enterprise system. Personally, I like to create a custom cocktail derived from combining these methodologies in order to ensure that my design fits with the project’s and business’s needs while still following development standards and guidelines. • ThinkPad TrackPoint Buttons Not Working Well

  The TrackPoint itself works fine. But the three buttons below the spacebar don't. For example if I were to copy these lines, 1-10, using trackpoint buttons it'd start highlighting at 7. If I use the main TrackPad (the part every laptop) and it's buttons it works normal, 1-10: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 It's like the button doesn't register right away. I use the TrackPoint ALL the time. I love it and I don't think I can go back to the normal TrackPad, so is there anyway to fix this? An app or setting? Also, the middle button to scroll isn't working at all I tried: Middle Button on ThinkPad Not Working with 10.10 update And put it in /usr/share/... and /usr/lib... neither seem to work. They USED to work. I used to be able to use that method of fixing it, but it seems in 11.04 this doesnt work? I dont wanna give up on Ubuntu yet...

• Calculating a child Position, Rotation and Scale values?

  I am making my own game editor(just for fun) anyway I have problem that I had several days trying to resolve but I have been unsuccessful. Here goes... I have an object "A": Position: (3,3,3), Rotation: (45,10,0), Scale(1,2,2.5) And an object "B": Position: (1,1,1), Rotation: (10,34,18), Scale(1.5,2,1) I now make a parent/child relationship. "B" is a child of "A": A |--B When I do the relationship I need to re-calculate the Child("B") Position, Rotation and Scale such that it maintains its current position, rotation and scale(Location in world). So for child position "B" it would now be (-2, -2, -2) since now "A" it is center and (-2, -2, -2) will keep the object in its same position. I think I got the Position and scale figure out, but rotation I cant. So I was trying to figure out what to do and what I did is opened Unity and run the same example and I did noticed that when making an abject a child object the child object did not moved at all but had its Position, Rotation and Scale values changed(Related to the parent). For example: Unity (Parent Object "A"): Position: (0,0,0) Rotation: (45,10,0) Scale: (1,1,1) Unity (Child Object "B"): Position: (0,0,0) Rotation: (0,0,0) Scale: (1,1,1) When making it a parent child relation("B" is a child of "A") the child object("B") in its Rotation values now has: X: -44.13605 Y: -14.00195 Z: 9.851074 If I plug the same values to my editor(To the child "B" rotation X, Y, Z values) the object does not move at all. So I basically need to know how did Unity arrive at those rotation values for the child(What are the calculations?). If you can help and put all the equations for the Position, Rotation or Scale then I can double check I am doing it correctly but with the Rotation I really need help. Thanks!

• How to loop section from a song correctly?

  I'm programming a little Music Engine for my game in C# and XNA, and one aspect from it is the possibility to loop a section from a song. For example, my song has an intropart, and when the song reached the end ( or any other specific point ), it jumps back where the intropart is just over. ( A - B - B - B ... ) Now I'm using IrrKlank, which is working perfectly, without any gaps, but I have a problem: The point where to jump back is a bit inaccurate. Here's some example code: public bool Passed(float time) { if ( PlayPosition >= time ) return true; return false; } //somewhere else if( song.Passed( 10.0f ) ) song.JumpTo( 5.0f ); Now the problem is, the song passes the 10 seconds, but play a few milliseconds until 10.1f or so, and then jumps to 5 seconds. It's not that dramatic, but very incorrect for my needs. I tried to fix it like that: public bool Passed( float time ) { if( PlayPosition + 3 * dt >= time && PlayPosition <= time ) return true; return false; } ( dt is the delta time, the elapsed time since the last frame ) But I don't think, that's a good solution for that. I hope, you can understand my problem ( and my english, yay /o/ ) and help me :)

• Can't install or update Ubuntu after using parameter acpi_osi = Linux

  I recently had an issue with my acer 4736z notebook because I was having a blank screen after booting the OS, then someone told me to use the parameter GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_osi = Linux" after quiet splash inside the grub. It worked for me, but since then I can't install a thing or update anything on Linux because it says Removing linux-image-extra-3.5.0-17-generic ... • Can't connect to or see my wifi ssid

  Today I installed ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop. I am unable to see my home SSID or even connect to it. I've tried to connect as a hidden SSID but I always get prompted for authorization although my key is correct. I'm in in Europe but my laptop is from US. I'm not sure if that is relevant. I've read around this site and saw something that has to do with setting the channel above 11. I'm not sure I did that correctly I did this : How to use Wi-Fi channels above 11? Did't help. I'm able to connect with cable but not via wifi either windows or linux. Other devices in my home can connect without any issues, even the kindle. • Flashback Data Archives: Ein gutes Gedächtnis für DBA und Entwickler

  Daten werden gespeichert und zum Teil lange aufbewahrt. Mitunter werden Daten nach ihrer ersten Speicherung geändert, vielleicht sogar mehrfach. Je nach gesetzlicher oder betrieblicher Vorgabe müssen die Veränderungen sogar nachverfolgbar sein. Damit sind zugleich Mechanismen gefordert, die sicherstellen, dass die Folge der Versionen lückenlos ist. Und implizit bedeutet das zusätzlich, dass die Versionen auch vor Löschen und Verändern geschützt sein müssen. Das Versionieren kann über die Anwendung, mit der die Daten auch erfasst werden, erfolgen, über Trigger oder über besondere Werkzeuge. Jede dieser Lösungen hat ihre eigenen Schwächen. Zusätzlich steht die Frage nach dem Schutz vor unerlaubtem Löschen oder Ändern versionierter Daten im Raum. Flashback Data Archives lösen diese Frage, denn sie bieten nicht nur einen wirksamen Mechanismus zum Versionieren von Datensätzen, sondern sie schützen diese Versionen auch vor Veränderung und löschen sie schließlich sogar automatisch nach Ablauf ihrer Aufbewahrungsfrist.Ursprünglich wurden die Archive als eigenständige Option zur Enterprise Edition der Oracle Database 11g unter dem Namen Total Recall eingeführt. Ende Juni 2012 verloren die Flashback Data Archives ihren Status als eigenständige Option. Weil die Archive aber grundsätzlich komprimiert wurden, hat Oracle sie stattdessen zu einem Feature der Advanced Compression Option der Enterprise Edition (ACO) gemacht. Seit der Version 11.2.0.4 der Datenbank ist das Komprimieren aber für die Archive nicht mehr zwangsläufig, sondern optional. Damit gibt es lizenzrechtlich erneut eine Änderung: Wer die Kompression verwendet, der muss nach wie vor ACO lizensieren. Wer die Flashback Data Archives dagegen ohne Kompression verwendet - also zum Beispiel Entwickler -, dem stehen sie ab 11.2.0.4 aufwärts im Lieferumfang aller Editionen der Datenbank zur Verfügung. Diese Änderung ist in den Handbüchern zur Lizensierung der Versionen 11.2 und 12.1 der Datenbank dokumentiert. • Adaptive Case Management Modeling with CMMN by Jessica Ray

  A new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with Adaptive Case Management (ACM) is now available, so what will that mean for requirements gathering? BPM project requirements can be documented using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0). For ACM, there is a new notation in the works. It is called Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN). For now, this notation isn’t included as a modeling tool in the new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with ACM, but it is possible that a modeling tool could be included in a future release. What is CMMN? CMMN is a standard intended to capture the common elements that Case Management Products use, the same way that BPMN is a standard for BPM products (such as Oracle BPM). CMMN is created by the Object Management Group (OMG) and is still in the beta version. In April 2014, OMG released the second beta version the CMMN 1.0, and the most recent version is available here. CMMN captures some of the elements that are commonly used when talking about ACM such as Cases, Milestones, and Tasks. It also introduces some elements that you may not automatically hear when talking about ACM such as Stages, Events, and Decorators. • Server 2008R2 in Extra Small Windows Azure Instance?

  Windows Azure hosting for an Extra Small (XS) Windows VM seems to come out to be about $10 a month right now. I think this XS instance gives you the equivalent of a 1 GHZ CPU with 768MB of RAM. I think the minimum requirements for Server 2008 is 1GHZ CPU with 512MB of RAM. Also, I think the minimum requirements for SQL Server Express is 1GHZ CPU with 256 MB of RAM and that the minimum requirements for Team Foundation Server Express 11 Beta is 2.2 GHZ CPU with 1 Gig of RAM (this 2.2 GHZ part could be a problem for my 1 GHZ XS VM...). Given the performance of the XS Azure instance, would I be able to install: a very basic MVC web site; a free instance of SQL Server Express; a free single user instance of Team Foundation Server Express 11 Beta and run the XS VM instance without serious crashing? I know there are other Shared WebHost providers that can provide these features for me, but those hosting providers have the following disadvantages: They sometimes cost a lot of money after all of the "addons" are in place They probably don't provide the level of security and employee integrity that Microsoft can provide They don't provide the total control that an Azure VM seems to provide

• Launching php script through comman line - keeping terminal window open after execution

  Oh, my girlfriend really likes it when I launch php scripts! There's something special about them, she says ... Thus, I coded this script to run throught the CLI (Command Line Interface) - so it's running locally, not on a web server. It launches just fine through right click open run in terminal but closes right after execution. **Is there a way to keep the terminal window open? Of course I can launch it through a terminal window - which would stay open - but I'm looking for a one click action. With bash scripts I use $SHELL but that didn't work (see code below). So far, the only thing I came up with is sleep(10); which gives me 10 seconds for my girl to check the output. • Essbase Excel Add in - S.o.D.

  #cross { font-size: 72pt; } sadly another long lasting friend is about to be buried in the wet, cold data void that holds past programs (... and AOL CDs). The Essbase Excel Add In is about to be de-continued (see  Doc ID 1466700.1) in January '13. The (already out) version 11.1.2.2.x of the Excel Add In must be considered the last release of this particular program (Unless the guys from Applied OLAP bring out their own version next to the openOffice Add In that they already sport). As expected, SmartView achieved parity in functionality with Release 11.1.2.1.102 and ever since then it was just a question of time when our old buddy would get the shoe. For all users out there like me that have known and worked with the Excel Add In for the last decade(s) this is a loss. SmartView may have functionality parity, and may altogether be the stronger, open technology - capable of Planning forms, connection to HFM etc. .But (from my personal point of view) it will not give the end user the same direct access to his databases, with nothing between him and his Essbase Server. Of course it was to be expected that only one of the two could survive and it was obvious that this would be SmartView, so this does not come as a surprise. Still.A minute for an old friend . . . . . . Thank you, and let us look forward! Unless you had other plans for the upcoming season, why not spend it investigating SmartView for your Essbase interaction needs. We hear that the days between Christmas and new year hold unlimited potential to test out new things. Or take it as a new year resolution: "I will switch to SmartView at the earliest possible moment".

• AsyncBridge? Async on .NET 4.0 using VS11

  I've just found something quite cool. It's a code snippet that lets you use the real VS 11 C#5 compiler to write code that uses the async and await keywords, but to target .NET 4.0. It was published by Daniel Grunwald (from SharpDevelop).That means I can stop using the Async CTP for VS2010, which is not at all supported anymore, and a pain to install if you have windows updates turned on. Obviously I couldn't ask all my users to install .NET 4.5 beta, but .NET Demon is a VS 2010 extension, so we already have .NET 4.0. At the time of writing, VS11 is in beta still, but hopefully it's stable enough for my team to use!I would have written the code myself, but I had the wrong impression that the C# 5 beta compiler only looked in mscorlib for the helper classes it needs to implement async methods. Turns out you can provide them yourself. You can get the code here: https://gist.github.com/1961087You just add it to your project, and the compiler will apparently pick it up and use it to implement async/await. I'm at my parents' place for Easter without access to a machine with VS 11 to try it out. Let me know whether you get it to work!This reminds me of LINQBridge, which let us use C# 3 LINQ, but only require .NET 2. We should stick up a webpage to explain, with a nice easy dll, put it in nuget, and call it AsyncBridge.If you were really enthusiastic, you could re-implement the skeleton of the Task Parallel Library against .NET 2 to use async/await without even requiring .NET 4. Our usage stats suggest that practically everyone that uses Red Gate tools already has .NET 4 installed though, so I don't think I'll go to the effort.

  I tried several times, but wasn't able to make it work. I tried all recent types of Ubuntu but it didn't work. Then I tried acpi=off at the beginning of the installation. In this way I could finish the installation. But after the restart Ubuntu didn't work. Only a black screen appeared. Before that I tried it on the VirtualBox and it work.   When booting my laptop, it will try to connect to my wireless network, however a window keeps popping up asking me for my security password, which has already been saved. I have to keep deleting my network settings, and reconnecting, otherwise it keeps failing to connect. My wireless is set up with a WPA, I do not want to lower my security because of this, but it is a pain and can take me 15mins plus to finally connect. The problem has only become apparent since a fresh install of 11.10. IPV6 disabled. • When was sys.dm_os_wait_stats last cleared?

  The sys.dm_os_wait_stats DMV provides essential metrics for diagnosing SQL Server performance problems. Returning incrementally accumulating information about all the completed waits encountered by executing threads it is a useful way to identify bottlenecks such as IO latency issues or waits on locks. The counters are reset each time SQL server is restarted, or when the following command is run: DBCC SQLPERF ('sys.dm_os_wait_stats', CLEAR); To make sense out of these wait values you need to know how they change over time. Suppose you are asked to troubleshoot a system and you don't know when the wait stats were last zeroed. Is there any way to find the elapsed time since this happened? If the wait stats were not cleared using the DBCC SQLPERF command then you can simply correlate the stats with the time SQL Server was started using the sqlserver_start_time column introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2: SELECT sqlserver_start_time from sys.dm_os_sys_info However how do you tell if someone has run DBCC SQLPERF ('sys.dm_os_wait_stats', CLEAR) since the server was started, and if they did, when? Without this information the initial, or historical, wait_stats have less value until you can measure deltas over time. There is a way to at least estimate when the stats were last cleared, by using the wait stats themselves and choosing a thread that spends most of its time sleeping. A good candidate is the SQL Trace incremental flush task, which mostly sleeps (in 4 second intervals) and in between it attempts to flush (if there are new events – which is rare when only default trace is running) – so it pretty much sleeps all the time. Hence the time it has spent waiting is very close to the elapsed time since the counter was reset. Credit goes to Ivan Penkov in the SQLOS dev team for suggesting this.
