  • Adobe edge animation fails to load first time in Opera, Crome but works in Firefox and Safari

    I have quite a serous problem here since I work on this animation for a while, I have a Adobe Edge Animation (done in CC) that fails to load the first time in Opera and Crome but does work in Firefox and Safari. It fail to load every time coming from another page. Only work if you reload. The problem persist both locally and online. It does work in preview every single time.     Some of my users download several pdf files from an internet website regularly. They'd like to automate the process to save a few minutes every day, and most importantly, to minimize errors. I tried mechanize but failed as mechanize does not process javascripts. Since the download links in the remote site are all triggered by javescript, I am looking for solutions to automate the browser itself.   • Using jQuery to parse an RSS feed, having trouble in firefox and chrome.

    I used a jQuery library called jFeed to parse and display my blogs rss feed on my personal website. It worked perfectly well at first, but upon checking later it simply displays nothing, except in Internet Explorer, where it seems to work fine. After checking the javascript console using Firebug in Firefox, it shows an error in the 'XML' tab as follows: XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: moz-nullprincipal:{3f8a0c62-32b4-4f63-b69c- 9ef402b40b64} Line Number 1, Column 1: ^ Though I have no idea what to do with this information.   • Inheritance of list-style-type property in Firefox (bug in Firebug?)

    Let's have a look at some comments on a page generated by Wordpress (it's not a site I maintain, I'm just wondering what's going on here). As these pages might disappear in the near future, I've put some screenshots online. Here's what I saw: Obviously, the list-item markers shouldn't be there. So I decided to look at the source using Firebug. As you can see, Firebug claims that the list-style property (containing none) is inherited from ol.commentlist. But if that's the case, why are the circle and the square visible? When checking the computed style, Firebug shows the list-style-types correctly. What's the correct behaviour? I just did a quick check in Chromium, whose Web Inspector gave a better view of reality (the list item markers were also displayed in this browser): According to WebKit, list-style of ol.commentlist isn't inherited, only the default value of list-style-type from the rendering engine. So, we may conclude that the output of both browsers is correct and that Firefox (Firebug) shows an incorrect representation of inherited styles. What does the CSS specification say? Inheritance will transfer the list-style values from OL and UL elements to LI elements. This is the recommended way to specify list style information. Not much about the inheritance of ol properties to uls. Is Firebug wrong in this respect? BTW, I managed to let the markers disappear by just changing line 312 of style.css to ol.commentlist, li.commentlist, ul.children { When also explicitly defining the list-style of ul.children to none, the markers are not painted. You can have a look at screenshots of Firebug and WebKit's Web Inspector in this case, if you like.

  • Why do Firefox and Opera ignore max-width inside of display: table-cell?

    The following code displays correctly in Chrome or IE (the image is 200px wide). In Firefox and Opera the max-width style is ignored completely. Why does this happen and is there a good work around? Also, which way is most standards compliant? Note One possible work around for this particular situation is to set max-width to 200px. However, this is a rather contrived example.     I am attempting to preload images using JavaScript. I have declared an array as follows with image links from different places: var imageArray = new Array(); imageArray[0] = new Image(); imageArray[1] = new Image(); imageArray[2] = new Image(); imageArray[3] = new Image(); imageArray[0].src = "http://www.bollywoodhott.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/arjun-rampal.jpg"; imageArray[1].src = "http://labelleetleblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/josie-maran.jpg"; imageArray[2].src = "http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_22EXDJCJp3s/SxbIcZHTHTI/AAAAAAAAIXc/fkaDiOKjd-I/s400/black-male-model.jpg"; imageArray[3].src = "http://www.iill.net/wp-content/uploads/images/hot-chick.jpg"; The image fade and transformation effects that I am doing using this array work properly for the first 3 images, but for the last one, imageArray[3], the actual image data of the image does not get preloaded and it completely ruins the effect, since the actual image data loads AFTERWARDS, only at the time it needs to be displayed, it seems. This happens because the last link http://www.iill.net/wp-content/uploads/images/hot-chick.jpg is not a direct link to the image. If you go to that link, your browser will redirect you to the ACTUAL location. Now, my image preloading code in Chrome works perfectly well, and the effects look great. Because it seems that Chrome preloads the actual data - the EVENTUAL image that is to be shown. This means that in Chrome if I preloaded an image that will redirect to 'stop stealing my bandwidth', then the image that gets preloaded is 'stop stealing my bandwidth'. How can I modify my code to get Firefox to behave the same way?

  • How do you submit an authenticated HTML form using XUL (Firefox extension) Javascript?

    I am working on a Firefox extension, and in that extension I am trying to use AJAX to submit a form on a webpage. I am using: var request = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/xmlextras/xmlhttprequest;1"].createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsIXMLHttpRequest); request.onload = loadHandler; request.open("POST", url, true); request.send(values); to make the request, and it works ... mostly. The one problem is that the form has an authentication token on it, and I need to submit that token with my POST. I tried doing a GET separately to get this token, but by the time I made my second (POST) request my session had (evidently) changed, and the authenticity token was considered invalid. Does anyone know of a way to use the XUL/Chrome Javscript to maintain a constant session across multiple requests (all "behind the scenes") for something this? I'm still a XUL n00b, so there may be a totally obvious alternative that I'm missing (eg. hidden IFRAME; I tried that briefly but couldn't get it to work).

  • Is there any reason why jQuery Sortable would work in IE/Chrome but not Firefox?

    I have a fairly straightforward list of horizontally floated items, like this: <div class="my-widget-container"> <div class="my-widget-column">...</div> ... </div> Both the container and each column have a fixed width, set using jQuery's .width(). The container is position: relative and the column is float: left and overflow: hidden. Not sure if any other styles/properties are relevant. When I apply a jQuery-UI sortable to this, the result is exactly what I'd expect in Chome 8 and IE 8; the columns can be dragged around to change their order. But in Firefox 3.6 I can click an item and drag to create a new sort-helper, yet the actual sort never happens; the real item's position in the DOM never changes. I dug around a little in Sortable, and added a debug print to _intersectsWithPointer. Whenever the drag helper moves, Sortable runs through its list of elements and uses this method to determine whether the drag helper has passed over one. What I saw was that item.left had the same value for all my columns, which is obviously not correct, and probably the source of the problem. It looks like all columns had a left position corresponding to that of the first column. I'm using jQuery 1.4.3 and jQuery UI Sortable 1.8. Those aren't the very latest versions, but they're pretty recent, and I don't see anything in the Sortable release notes that indicates any such problem has been fixed. Does anyone know what might be happening here, or have any ideas for further debugging?

  • Why does my JQuery Image swap not work in firefox or chrome, but fine in IE?

    In Firefox forward slash is mapped to quick find. Is it possible to let forward slash behave the same in Google Chrome as in Firefox? To find a link and follow it in a page in Google Chrome I now have to type: Ctrl + F, <search query>, ESC, Enter In Firefox this is: /, <search query>, Enter Not being able to use forward slash to find in page has been a real show-stopper for me as I use it all the time in Firefox to browse documentation.

I use several computers and different browsers on them so I would like a easy solution to keep all of the bookmarks in sync on various computers and browsers in the same organizational structure throughout. Also, I would prefer to have my bookmarks only synced to my account, not necessarily visible to the whole world as on Delicious. Is there any service that could handle this?

  • How do I block a single css file from being loaded with firefox or chrome?

    I want to be able to block one css file from loading on my system. The site has multiple sheets that I do want to load but it has one hideous theme.css file that I just have to get rid of. I would prefer to use Chrome but FF is ok too. A system wide ban on the file would be ideal. I want to specify a single url that the computer becomes incapable of fetching it. I will then use stylish to create my own replacement. BTW its a SharePoint theme and it has way too many rules to have to override. Thanks
