• How to clear unshown OSD notifications

  I am a webmaster of 2 active websites. Every time I start Thunderbird, it downloads all the new messages from the admin mail addresses of these sites - [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. There are about 20 of them - this includes my personal email accounts. Now, am not always connected to the internet and there arises cases where I need to access already downloaded mails. Thunderbird then tries to connect to the internet, which it can't coz am offline, and then displays about twenty OSD notifications, one after the other, telling me that connection for each email address has failed. That's frustrating and it really eating me up. Am looking for a way, either: 1. To tell Thunderbird NOT to connect to the internet when am offline, or 2. To clear all these notifications after like the first one shows. And if it will help, am using ubuntu 13.04 and Thunderbird 24.0 and I always keep my computer fully updated. Any help is welcome. • Huge spike in traffic tracked by Google Analytics from Safari browsers

  My site urbanindo.com recently experienced huge spike in traffic tracked by Google Analytics. The huge spike sometime shows in several same pages. This is odd because I rarely experienced that much traffic before. Some pages can have hundreds of visitors at the same time. But when I read the webserver log, those pages only showed up in only one or two entries, not hundreds like the GA showed. But the only similar thing about the entries is that they are using similar browser agent. Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; CPU OS 5_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B206 Safari/7534.48.3 Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B206 Safari/7534.48.3 And when I opened the Google Analytics Audience Technology Browsers & OS and I plotted the chart based on the browsers, I saw that the huge spike came from Safari. This huge spikes started to happen since the beginning of this August, which happens to be when I use multiple webservers behind load balancer (although I'm pretty sure those two are not relevant). Is there something wrong with my GA configuration?

• Why does Windows Firewall show "Unidentified network" as one of my "Active public networks"?

  I have a machine that has wifi and ethernet. I have wifi active, and am not using ethernet. My Windows firewall shows two active networks, one is the wifi network I connect to, and the other is "Unidentified network". What is this unidentified network? I can't seem to be able to get rid of it because I can't find where it is even defined. How can you detect this and know whether this is just something appropriate or possibly a security problem? I am on Windows 7 64bit.

  Is there tool or a regexp that can convert shell escape characters to HTML code? As an example, here is a logfile from GNU screen: ^MESC[K$ ^MESC[K$ exit Executing .bashrc ESC[00;31;31mserver.xyz.com: ESC[00;34;34m~ which I would like to convert to something like this: $ exit Executing .bashrc <font color=red>server.xyz.com</font>: <font color=blue>~</font> and send as HTML e-mail to an e-mail address, to archive my work. Here is a related question, which shows how to convert it to regular text, but it would be nice to convert to HTML and not just throw the escape characters away.

• Windows 7 - Home Drive Map Fails

  Server 2003 SP2 (not R2) with 2 new Win 7 Pro workstations. Home Drive is set in AD (not GP) to map to \\server\users\username. Home Drive map fails, other network drives map correctly. No error logged on server or PC, Win 7 shows "Could not reconnect all network drives." There is no Y: (Home Drive) listed, either in the GUI or via Net Use. Manual map via batch file in startup group with the same path works correctly? Home Drive map works correctly on XP workstations.

• FeedValidator & Feedburner get 404 when accessing wordpress RSS feeds when permalinks are enabled.

  I'm helping a friend set up a self-hosted Wordpress blog + feedburner and I'm seeing a problem with the feeds that I'm finding somewhat mysterious. Using the default permalink structure (e.g., ?p=123) everything works as expected; I can follow the feed in Google reader, navigate to it manually, and set it up in feedburner. However, once I switch away from the default permalink structure, feedburner and feedvalidator both report that accessing the feed is returning HTTP-404 and Google reader no longer shows new posts (I'm assuming for the same reason), but I can navigate to the feed using a browser. When I do that it appears as though nothing is wrong; there is a feed there and it contains all the posts I expect it to have. I've re-started the feedburner & reader set-up from the beginning after changing the link structure, so I don't think they're doing anything silly like looking at the feed at its old address. I've seen people with similar problems in various other places but there doesn't seem to be a good answer anywhere.

• IISReset to remote server fails

  I'm attempting to run iisreset 192.168.100.182 (against a Windows Server 2003 machine) from another machine on the same domain (running Windows 7 Professional) and am receiving the following error message: Attempting stop... Restart attempt failed. Access denied, you must be an administrator of the remote computer to use this command. Either have your account added to the administrator local group of the remote computer or to the domain administrator global group. I'm running the command from an elevated command prompt with my domain account added to the Administrators group on the target machine. I've attempted this when being a member of the administrators group both directly and by virtue of membership of a domain group that's a member of the administrators group. I've reviewed the event log on the target machine and it shows a selection of Success Audits for my domain credentials immediately after attempting the iisreset, but no failure audits.

• Dell D630 - Touchpad does not move the mouse cursor

  Windows XP - Dell D630 - Synaptics Touch Pad driver installed. The system tray icon that shows the movement of your finger on the touchpad registeres movement. The scroll feature of the touchpad works on any window with a scroll bar. The double click works even. But it never actually moves the cursor on the screen. An external mouse works with out problems, and I've replaced the palm-rest/touchpad and it continues to happen. The touch stick in the middle of the keyboard works without problems. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Why has my Mac been running fsck_hfs for two days now?

  I first noticed that fsck_hfs was running, taking up 50-75% of a CPU, yesterday. It continues to run today. ps shows that it is doing /sbin/fsck_hfs -f -n -x -E /dev/disk3. Only problem: I don’t think I have a /dev/disk3. Why is it running? Will it ever finish? Can I kill it? What is /dev/disk3? Could it be my Time Machine volume, which is not mounted at the moment? System Info: MacBook Pro (2008). It has two disks installed—the internal disk (/dev/disk1) and a PC Card SSD (/dev/disk0, surprisingly). It connects to a remote Time Machine volume attached to an Airport Extreme base station.

• How can I force my browser to search Google in English?

  I'm too bored of seeing sites like Google and such show up in my native language, I would rather like them to be in English. Yet, I have to explicitly change the URL to .com and en and that kind of parameters in order for them to show up in English. Can I somehow force this? So, how is Google configured? However, it is set to English on the site itself so it has to be my browser: Then, how does my browser land up on non-english pages, like Google? It usually shows up in non-English when I'm performing a search, which uses: {google:baseURL}search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:searchFieldtrialParameter}{google:instantFieldTrialGroupParameter}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s When performing a search, it fills these variables in with non-english values. • Is there a command to "manually automount" an attached disk?

  I have an extra hard drive which I use for backups. The label on its one and only partition is "backup". When I open nautilus and click on "backup" it mounds the drive in "/media/backup", and then there's a little eject button next to it's icon in nautilus. If I manually mount the drive by creating a directory and using "sudo mount /dev/sdx /some/dir", the eject icon still shows up in nautilus, but when I press it I get an error because the device was not mounted via whatever it is that mounts it the other way. What I would like is to be able to do this "mount to /media/backup and enable the eject button" via the command line. The goal is to have the device mounted by a script which needs the drive, but then leave it mounted until I manually eject it... if I want to. P.S. I'm aware that I can have the drive auto mounted at startup, but that's not what I'm looking for here, and I'd like to know if this is possible. Clarification: I'm looking for a command to "mount the drive the way nautilus would". This should create the directory "/media/backup", mount the device to that directory, and then when I press the eject button from nautilus, it should unmount the device and delete the directory.

Log into My Oracle Support - Select Patches and Updates - Select Product or Family (Advanced Search). 2. In the product line enter: Ethernet and select the product name from the menu. 3. • Finding spoofed IP address on network

  I have a few IP spoof dropped messages coming out of my Sonicwall firewall, we'll call them Source A and Source B. Both of these sources have the same mac address indicating they're coming from the layer 3 switch behind my firewall. Source A has an ip within a valid subnet on my network and it shows up in the ARP table of my layer 3 switch. I was able to trace the exact location and fix the issue. Source B's ip however, is not within valid subnet on my network and it's not showing up in my layer 3 switches arp table. Any idea how I can trace the location of this device within my network? • Server refusing access from every host except itself

  I have media content on a hosted server that I want to be accessed by another domain. In the configuration file, even if I "Allow from all," all hosts except itself will fetch the hosting company's generic landing page, which puzzles me. I test it with curl, with the command: curl -H "Host: anything.com" http://mydomain.com and it just shows the hosting company's page. If I do: curl -H "Host: mydomain.com" http://mydomain.com it will show my content. How do I allow other hosts to access my content? I thought it would work with "Allow" in .htaccess, but it doesn't.

  I have a cups server with one shared printer configured on it. • problems texture mapping in modern OpenGL 3.3 using GLSL #version 150

  Hi all I'm trying to do texture mapping using Modern OpenGL and GLSL 150. • install android sdk on kubuntu

  I'm trying to follow the instructions for installing the android sdk found here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/adding-packages.html After i've unpackaged and i run the android program under tools, I don't get all the options that I'm supposed to. The only 2 folders that show up are tools, and extras. Under tools, it only shows the "Android SDK Tools" with the status "Installed". Under the "extas" folder, I have nothing. I've made sure that my http: proxy settings are correct. And I've checked the logs. there are no errors. According to the android developer site, I'm supposed to install the SDK platform tools. has anyone tried this on ubuntu? I also checked and saw others were instructed to do an apt-get install ia32-libs but it failed for me. Besides which, I am running the 32bit os... so I don't think i would need to install that... ?? I've also tried following the instructions found here: http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/showthread.php/772 But... • Gmail not accepting mail

  I'm setting up a new mail server with postfix dovecot and things are working fine except this strange thing. I'm unable to send email to gmail addresses. The log shows status sent. However, I checked there is no email in gmail mailbox. Jul 8 13:10:08 example postfix/smtp[5294]: B53B637C233: to=<[email protected]>, relay=gmail-smtp-in-v4v6.l.google.com[173.194.79.26]:25, delay=2.2, delays=1.5/0.08/0.49/0.14, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 OK 1341727808 nc7si50672387pbc.75) However, my other account can send to gmail. After several testing, then I found that if I first send email from gmail, then subsequently I can send from my server and email received by gmail. I don't have this issue with Yahoo. What could be the problem?

  When I want to learn a vast topic on wikipedia, I don't know where to start. For instance say I want to learn about Binary Stars, I then have to know other things linked on that pages and linked pages on all the linked pages and so on for the specified number of levels. I want to write a web crawler like HTTracker or something similiar, that will display a heiarchy of the links on a certain page and the links on those linked pages.I wish to use as much prewritten code as possible. (Please tell me how I should explain this ) --- In otherwords, the child node of the top pages first sentence, ternary_operation, does not have any child nodes that reference the children of the top pages other children nodes- N-ary and operation. Thus it is safe to read this first. Since N-ary has a link to operations we shoudl read the operation page second and finally read the N-ary page last. Again, I wish to use as much prewritten code as possible, and was wondering what language to use and what would be the simpliest way to go about doing this if there isn't already somethign out there? • Ldap access lists users even if user has no rights...

  I am trying to set up a more complex Active Directory structure for some testing purposes. What I did so far: set up 2 windows (one 2008 and one 2003) to control the same domain set up an Organizational Unit (ou): Developers set up 2 child OUs: "one" and "two" each OU has it's admin: adminOne and adminTwo I denied all access to OU "two" by removing on the Security tab all the groups I don't want to access it. now, when I log in as adminOne and I try to click on OU "two" it says I don't have permissions to see the users and properties of "two" - this is perfect, it's what I want Here comes my problem: I do a LDAP query with the adminOne user on the "Developers" What I expect to happen: I expect to retrieve the users from Developer - One I expect to NOT be able to retrieve the users from Developers - Two What actually happens: ldap shows all the users, both from Developers - One and Developers - Two, even if the user should not have permissions to Developers - Two And now my question: is there any specific settings on Windows 2003 or 2008 Active Directory servers which allow or deny access over LDAP? I could not find any.

• .gitignore, hidden file

  I have some problems with the hidden files. I can see a file in cmd (it is a .gitignore file), but I cannot see it when I open it normally in a folder. I have changed alredy an option to see all hidden files. And I cannot see it as well in a git command prompt. What should I do to be able to see it? Thanks. PS. I can see it normally in a folder BUT it has no name. When I click on this file's settings it shows me: Datatype: Textdocument(.gitignore) Is it normal`?

• Cannot view dates of emails(no date field), in my CSV file exported from MS Outlook

  I am using Outlook 2010 - I have my emails showing in there. and exported my emails, into a csv file. (file..options..advanced...export..export to a file.. I have opened that csv file in excel Here is a list of the fields it shows. I see "Date" doesn't appear among them. Also, (and less importantly, and as a very secondary issue) is there a convenient way to read the csv file? reading an email with a long body, in excel, is not convenient, I need to select all of the body from the cell and copy/paste it into notepad.

• Why does my excel document have 960,000 empty rows?

  I have an excel document, Office 2007, on a Windows 7 machine (if that part matters any, I'm not sure but just throwing it out there). It is a list of all employee phone numbers. If I need to generate a new page, I can click on page 2 and the table will automatically generate again. The problem is, someone messed it up since it's on a network drive and now shows I have over 960,000 rows of data, when I really don't! I did CTRL+END to see if any data was in the last cell, so I cleared it out, deleted that row and column, but still didn't fix it. It almost seems like it duplicates itself after the deletion. How can I fix this instead of recreating the entire document?

  our servers need to update the libxml2 version from 2.2.26 to 2.9 (latest version). It is no problem that we have been installed the libxml2-2.9 version on our servers. but the problem is how can we config the libs path of libxml2 path in php? Since it still show the old version on phpinfo(). What we have do is 1. Install libxml2 2.7.X on CentOS 5.X Using yum to install local files, and typed yum info libxml2, it shows 2.9 was installed.
