  I am using JdbcTemplate.queryForInt to insert a Row into the DB, and then get the ID back. The Query is "INSERT INTO metadocs(NAME) values (?) RETURNING METADOCID". If I run the statement in Flamerobin, it works fine. However, if I run it from Java, I get the following error: org.springframework.jdbc.UncategorizedSQLException: PreparedStatementCallback; uncategorized SQLException for SQL [INSERT INTO metadocs(NAME) values (?)   I've just started playing with The Django Form Validation Framework on Google App Engine (from google.appengine.ext.db import djangoforms) and I got stuck googling how to customize forms using it. I was wondering whether the following are possible using the package: Add help texts beside/below input/select fields and textareas (e.g. "This field is required", "Example: qwerty123") Add/modify attributes for the input/select fields and textareas (e.g. adding the following attributes: class, id, name, maxlength, minlength, etc.) Add custom validations like checking whether a particular field should be unique or checking a value against a regular expression Modify the error messages Add another column to the table generated by the form Also note that djangoforms.ModelForm is different from django.forms.Form.

  Hi guys I have a weird problem with mysqli timeout options, here you go: I am using mysqli_init() and real_connect() in order to set MYSQLI_OPT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT $this->__mysqli = mysqli_init(); if(!$this->__mysqli->options(MYSQLI_OPT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT,1)) throw new Exception('Timeout settings failed') $this->__mysqli->real_connect(host,user,pass,db); .... Then I am initiating query on locked table (LOCKE TABLE users WRITE) and its just hanging, ignoring all my settings even: set_time_limit(1); ini_set('max_execution_time',1); ini_set('default_socket_timeout',1); ini_set('mysql.connect_timeout',1); I understand why set_time_limit(1) and max_execution_time is ignored but why other timeouts and especially MYSQLI_OPT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT are ignored and how to solve it. I am using PHP 5.3.1 on Windows and Linux boxes, please help.

• C# Dynamically created LinkButton Command Event Handler

  So I have a weird situation here... I have an System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.EditorPart class. It renders a "Search" button, when you click this button, it's clickHandler method does a DB search, and dynamically creates a LinkButton for each row it returns, sets the CommandName and CommandArgument properties and adds a CommandEventHandler method, then adds the LinkButton control to the page. The problem is, when you click a LinkButton, its CommandEventHandler method is never called, it looks like the page just posts back to where it was before the ORIGINAL "Search" button was pressed. I have seen postings saying that you need to add the event handlers in OnLoad() or some other early method, but my LinkButtons haven't even been created until the user tells us what to search for and hits the "Search" button... Any ideas on how to deal with this? Thanks!

• ODBC Connection String Problem

  Hi there, I am having major trouble connecting to my database via ODBC. The db is local (but I have a mirror on a virtual machine), so I am trying to use the connectionstring: Dsn=MonetDB;host=TARBELL where TARBELL is the name of my computer. However, it doesn't connect. BUT, this string does: Dsn=MonetDB;host=localhost as does Dsn=MonetDB Can anyone explain this? I am at a complete loss. I have taken down my firewalls (at least until I get this figured out), so that can't be the problem. I eventually want to change the TARBELL to the mirrored virtual machine running another instance of the database. Many thanks, Brett

  I have a problem with the mapping of Oracle Float double precision datatype to Java Double datatype. The hibernate schema validator seems to fail when the Java Double datatype is used. org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in DB.TABLE for column amount. Found: float, expected: double precision The only way to avoid this is to disable schema validation and hope the schema is in sync with the app about to run. I must fix this before it goes out to production. App's evironment: - Grails 1.2.1 - Hibernate-core 3.3.1.GA - Oracle 10g

  Hi, I have started using the s#arp architecture which uses FNhibernate and GeneratedBy.HiLo to generate primary keys (there is also table hibernate_unique_key). Apparently, this is recommended practise and I would like to stick with this. Now to my problem. I have used NHibernate and hbm mapping quite a bit and usually used identity columns for my primary keys. This allowed me to seed the database using SQL. Can I do this with the aforementioned setup (hibernate_unique_key table etc.). I need to do this as SQL insert is much more efficient than using NHibernate + C# to seed the db with a million entities. Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Christian

  Im new to ActionScript and Flex 3... im trying to develop an MVC 100% OOP application with Flex 3 using MXML,AS3 and PHP. M (PHP) V (MXML) C (AS3) The 3 layers i choose for my development. I have 10 AS3 classes that are object related between them and some inherit or implement interfaces. The only problem here is how to interact 100% OOP with my model. In this case my model has to be a PHP Class that needs to be called from AS3 (the controller). For example the AS3 class : Patient have a method called Save: public function Save(data:Array) : void { /* PHP call - model layer */ } I want to create an instance of my PHP Patient Model class that connects to the DB and insert the data array into it.   Hi, I am building a web scraping application. It should scrape a complex web site with concurrent HttpWebRequests from a single host to a single target web server. The application should run on Windows server 2008. One single HttpWebRequest for data could take from 1 minute to 4 minutes to complete (because of long running db operations) I should have at least 100 parallel requests to the target web server, but i have noticed that when i use more then 2-3 long-running requests i have big performance issues (request timeouts/hanging). How many concurrent requests can i have in this scenario from a single host to a single target web server? can i use Thread Pools in the application to run parallel HttpWebRequests to the server? will i have any issues with the default outbound HTTP connection/requests limits? what about Request timeouts when i reach outbound connection limits? what would be the best setup for my scenario? Although similar to the discussion at this SO conversation, my situation is slightly different: My server returns the pk of the new record and additional information that is to be associated with the new record in the grid. My server returns the following: {'success':true,'message':'Created Quote','data': [{'id':'610'}, {'quoteNumber':'1'}]} Where id is the PK for the record in the mysql database. quoteNumber is a db generated value that needs to be added to the created record.   Hi, I am getting Out of Memory error: Memory Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at org.apache.xerces.dom.CoreDocumentImpl.createElement(CoreDocumentImpl.java:564) I have a standalone Java program which fetches data from DB and create an XML file using DOM. I get the above error if the data fetched is huge, in my case it is 1,000,000 records. I have defined 2GB as heap size while calling the Java class from unix. I tried it with JAXB, but still do not any significant improvement. Any suggestions how to improve the code.

  Hi, everybody! Currently in our project we are using Entity Framework and LINQ. We want to create a search feature where the Client fills different filters but he isn't forced to. To do this "dynamic" query in LINQ, we thought about using the Like operator, searching either for the field, or "%" to get everything if the user didn't fill that field. The joke's on us when we discovered it didn't support Like. After some searching, we read several answers where it's sugested to use StartsWith, but it's useless for us. Is the only solution using something like: ObjectQuery<Contact> contacts = db.Contacts; if (pattern != "") { contacts = contacts.Where(“it.Name LIKE @pattern”); contacts.Parameters.Add(new ObjectParameter(“pattern”, pattern); } However, we'd like to stick with linq only.   Hi, Currently, I created my custom PerWebRequestLifetimeManager using HttpContext.Current.Items as backing store. I used that lifetime manager for Linq2Sql DataContext. Eveything is working fine until I need to use Cache for storing data (for 5 min). After 5 min, I need to retrieve data from DB and put it into the Cache. To do so, I need to use Linq2Sql DataContext for retrieving data. But during that time, HttpContext.Current is null because which was happened when cache is expired; not in Web Request. So, what kind of LifetimeManager should I use for this scenario? Thanks in advance.

  Hi all: I'm currently using SPWeb's ProcessBatchData to update a lot of list items/folders into Sharepoint database. For example, in one batch update I have ~1200 objects to update. I also run it numerous times during different phases in my app. I found that it is generally faster and more efficient in updating large amount of items. But lately the performance of the app has decreased as more processes get added to the app (and also more batch updates). I was wondering whether the ProcessBatchData would be a suspect in slowing down the app? E.g. temporarily locking up db, draining resources, lagging network, etc. Thanks.

  Hey SO, So I'm new to both Joomla and Expression Engine, and want to know if I can use it like I'd like. I've already made a full site, and would like to integrate blogging into the site. The site is on CodeIgniter. Is there a way that I could create a form template for submitting a post which would then save to my Joomla/CodeIgniter DB. Then, on a different page, use a different Joomla/CodeIgniter template to display the blog in the form I would like. Note that this wouldn't necessarily be powered by EE or Joomla. From what I understand, and from all the examples I've seen, you have to make the html of the entire page inside of their templates. At worst, if neither work, is there anything I can use to do this? There are a number of questiosn on StackOverflow that ALMOST hit this topic head on, but they are either for other technologies, reference obsolets information or don;t supply an answer that I can suss out. So pardon the almost duplication :) I have a working ADO.NET Data Service, and a WPF client that hits it. Now that they are working fine I want to add authentication / security to the system. My understanding of the steps so far is... Turn on forms authentication and configure it on the server (I have an existing asp.net membership service DB for other aspects of this app, so that isnt a problem) so that it is required for the service URL In WCF apply for and recieve a forms authentication "ticket" as part of a login routine Add that "ticket" to the headers of the ADO.NET service calls in WPF Profit! All well and good - but does anyone have a line on a soup to nuts code sample, using the modern releases of these technologies? Thanks!
