  • current_user and Comments on Posts - Create another association or loop posts? - Ruby on Rails

    - by bgadoci
    I have created a blog application using Ruby on Rails and have just added an authentication piece and it is working nicely. I am now trying to go back through my application to adjust the code such that it only shows information that is associated with a certain user. Currently, Users has_many :posts and Posts has_many :comments. When a post is created I am successfully inserting the user_id into the post table. Additionally I am successfully only displaying the posts that belong to a certain user upon their login in the /views/posts/index.html.erb view. My problem is with the comments. For instance on the home page, when logged in, a user will see only posts that they have written, but comments from all users on all posts. Which is not what I want and need some direction in correcting. I want only to display the comments written on all of the logged in users posts. Do I need to create associations such that comments also belong to user? Or is there a way to adjust my code to simply loop through post to display this data. I have put the code for the PostsController, CommentsController, and /posts/index.html.erb below and also my view code but will post more if needed. class PostsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate auto_complete_for :tag, :tag_name auto_complete_for :ugtag, :ugctag_name def index @tag_counts = Tag.count(:group => :tag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @ugtag_counts = Ugtag.count(:group => :ugctag_name, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes @vote_counts = Vote.count(:group => :post_title, :order => 'count_all DESC', :limit => 20) conditions, joins = {}, :votes unless(params[:tag_name] || "").empty? conditions = ["tags.tag_name = ? ", params[:tag_name]] joins = [:tags, :votes] end @posts= current_user.posts.paginate( :select => "posts.*, count(*) as vote_total", :joins => joins, :conditions=> conditions, :group => "votes.post_id, posts.id ", :order => "created_at DESC", :page => params[:page], :per_page => 5) @popular_posts=Post.paginate( :select => "posts.*, count(*) as vote_total", :joins => joins, :conditions=> conditions, :group => "votes.post_id, posts.id", :order => "vote_total DESC", :page => params[:page], :per_page => 3) respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @posts } format.json { render :json => @posts } format.atom end end def show @post = Post.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @post } end end def new @post = Post.new respond_to do |format| format.html # new.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @post } end end def edit @post = Post.find(params[:id]) end def create @post = current_user.posts.create(params[:post]) respond_to do |format| if @post.save flash[:notice] = 'Post was successfully created.' format.html { redirect_to(@post) } format.xml { render :xml => @post, :status => :created, :location => @post } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @post.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end def update @post = Post.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @post.update_attributes(params[:post]) flash[:notice] = 'Post was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(@post) } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @post.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end def destroy @post = Post.find(params[:id]) @post.destroy respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to(posts_url) } format.xml { head :ok } end end end CommentsController class CommentsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate, :except => [:show, :create] def index @comments = Comment.find(:all, :include => :post, :order => "created_at DESC").paginate :page => params[:page], :per_page => 5 respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @comments } format.json { render :json => @comments } format.atom end end def show @comment = Comment.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @comment } end end # GET /posts/new # GET /posts/new.xml # GET /posts/1/edit def edit @comment = Comment.find(params[:id]) end def update @comment = Comment.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @comment.update_attributes(params[:comment]) flash[:notice] = 'Comment was successfully updated.' format.html { redirect_to(@comment) } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @comment.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end def create @post = Post.find(params[:post_id]) @comment = @post.comments.build(params[:comment]) respond_to do |format| if @comment.save flash[:notice] = "Thanks for adding this comment" format.html { redirect_to @post } format.js else flash[:notice] = "Make sure you include your name and a valid email address" format.html { redirect_to @post } end end end def destroy @comment = Comment.find(params[:id]) @comment.destroy respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to Post.find(params[:post_id]) } format.js end end end View Code for Comments <% Comment.find(:all, :order => 'created_at DESC', :limit => 3).each do |comment| -%> <div id="side-bar-comments"> <p> <div class="small"><%=h comment.name %> commented on:</div> <div class="dark-grey"><%= link_to h(comment.post.title), comment.post %><br/></div> <i><%=h truncate(comment.body, :length => 100) %></i><br/> <div class="small"><i> <%= time_ago_in_words(comment.created_at) %> ago</i></div> </p> </div> <% end -%>

  • Which file format to use for simple video editoring

    - by Craig HB
    I've just bought a Sanyo VPC-CG10 camcorder which saves clips as MPEG-4 (specifically, High-Definition 720p MPEG-4 AVC/H.246) I want a simple, cheap way to edit the clips and as, I'm using Windows Vista, I though Windows Movie Maker would be a good choice. But you can't import mp4 files into Windows Movie Maker. I've tried various codecs, but I'm not sure what is the best format to convert to, so that I can edit the files in Windows Movie Maker. AVI, MPG, WMI... I'm not sure what format is best. Should I try to keep the movie clips in MPEG-4 and edit them in that format (and then which editor do I use?) or is there a better format that I should convert to before editing (and what format is that?) ?

  • Distortion in format of data in wordpad file when shifted from windows XP to winows 2007

    - by Harpreet
    I have many data files which were set to open in wordpad file in windows XP. Those files have a particular format for data, like following: Name of Data file No. of data columns Name of data in column_1 Name of data in column_2 . . . Name of data in column_n column_1 column_2 column_3 ... column_n Now my computer has been formatted and OS is changed to windows 2007, however when I open my data files in wordpad the above format of data is no more present. The format in wordpad in windows 2007 seems to be distorted. Does anyone knows what to do to restore the format as shown above, which is what the data used to look like in XP? I have attached the snap shot of the new distorted format of data as seen in wordpad in windows 2007. The snap shot shows 100 column names, however the data columns present are only 5 when it should be actually 100 data columns.

  • Thunderbird: Change the Format of the Date Column

    - by TheOmega
    I want to change the format of the "Date"-Column in the messagelist in Thunderbird. For mails from today, I want to display only the time, not the date. For mails from before today, I want to display only the date, not the time. This is btw the same setup mutt uses. I know of the this wiki article, which describes how to change the dateformat, but you can only switch between 5 predefined formats, and non of them is "Date only". I also know of this Extension, but it got the same limitations, you can't define a new date format. Thanks!

  • Why am I getting a ParseException when using SimpleDateFormat to format a date and then parse it?

    - by Greg
    I have been debugging some existing code for which unit tests are failing on my system, but not on colleagues' systems. The root cause is that SimpleDateFormat is throwing ParseExceptions when parsing dates that should be parseable. I created a unit test that demonstrates the code that is failing on my system: import java.text.DateFormat; import java.text.ParseException; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import java.util.TimeZone; import junit.framework.TestCase; public class FormatsTest extends TestCase { public void testParse() throws ParseException { DateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyyMMddHHmmss.SSS Z"); formatter.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getDefault()); formatter.setLenient(false); formatter.parse(formatter.format(new Date())); } } This test throws a ParseException on my system, but runs successfully on other systems. java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date: "20100603100243.118 -0600" at java.text.DateFormat.parse(DateFormat.java:352) at FormatsTest.testParse(FormatsTest.java:16) I have found that I can setLenient(true) and the test will succeed. The setLenient(false) is what is used in the production code that this test mimics, so I don't want to change it.

  • What file format can I use to output a formatted text file straight from a program without having the markup be too complicated?

    - by Matt
    Premise: I am parsing a file that is quite nearly XML, but not quite. From this file I would like to extract data and output in a file that a user could open up in some program and read. To make the data reasonable, I would almost certainly need to format the text. In case it matters, I will probably be using Java to write the program. Problem: I cannot find a file format that supports formatting without having terribly complex rules and encoding problems. Attempts: I looked into a basic .txt extension first, but it does not have enough formatting advantage. I then tried a .rtf extension, but the rules for outputting text seem to be terribly complicated. It was then suggested that I used XML, but I do not understand how this file would be viewed. This appears to be probably the best solution, but I don't understand much about it. Perhaps somebody could shed some light here. In Other Words: Could somebody suggest and easy to use file format and/or shed some light on how to use XML for text formatting and viewing?

  • How Do I Loop Through a Date Range in Reverse?

    - by Russ Bradberry
    I have a date range that I would like to be able to loop through in reverse. Give the following, how would I accomplish this, the standard Range operator doesn't seem t be working properly. >> sd = Date.parse('2010-03-01') => Mon, 01 Mar 2010 >> ed = Date.parse('2010-03-05') => Fri, 05 Mar 2010 >> (sd..ed).to_a => [Mon, 01 Mar 2010, Tue, 02 Mar 2010, Wed, 03 Mar 2010, Thu, 04 Mar 2010, Fri, 05 Mar 2010] >> (ed..sd).to_a => [] as you can see, the range operator works properly form start to end, but not from end to start.

  • Rails Active Record find(:all, :order => ) issue.

    - by CodingWithoutComments
    I seem to be unable to use :order_by for more than one column at a time. For example, I have a "Show" model with date and attending columns. If I run the following code: @shows = Show.find(:all, :order => "date") I get the following results: [#<Show id: 7, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 2>, #<Show id: 1, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 78>, #<Show id: 2, date: "2009-04-19", attending: 91>, #<Show id: 3, date: "2009-04-20", attending: 16>, #<Show id: 4, date: "2009-04-21", attending: 136>] If I run the following code: @shows = Show.find(:all, :order => "attending DESC") [#<Show id: 4, date: "2009-04-21", attending: 136>, #<Show id: 2, date: "2009-04-19", attending: 91>, #<Show id: 1, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 78>, #<Show id: 3, date: "2009-04-20", attending: 16>, #<Show id: 7, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 2>] But, if I run: @shows = Show.find(:all, :order => "date, attending DESC") OR @shows = Show.find(:all, :order => "date, attending ASC") OR @shows = Show.find(:all, :order => "date ASC, attending DESC") I get the same results as only sorting by date: [#<Show id: 7, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 2>, #<Show id: 1, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 78>, #<Show id: 2, date: "2009-04-19", attending: 91>, #<Show id: 3, date: "2009-04-20", attending: 16>, #<Show id: 4, date: "2009-04-21", attending: 136>] Where as, I want to get these results: [#<Show id: 1, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 78>, #<Show id: 7, date: "2009-04-18", attending: 2>, #<Show id: 2, date: "2009-04-19", attending: 91>, #<Show id: 3, date: "2009-04-20", attending: 16>, #<Show id: 4, date: "2009-04-21", attending: 136>] This is the query being generated from the logs: [4;35;1mUser Load (0.6ms)[0m [0mSELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 1) LIMIT 1[0m [4;36;1mShow Load (3.0ms)[0m [0;1mSELECT * FROM "shows" ORDER BY date ASC, attending DESC[0m [4;35;1mUser Load (0.6ms)[0m [0mSELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 1) [0m Finally, here is my model: create_table "shows", :force => true do |t| t.string "headliner" t.string "openers" t.string "venue" t.date "date" t.text "description" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.decimal "price" t.time "showtime" t.integer "attending", :default => 0 t.string "time" end What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? UPDATE: Thanks for all your help, but it seems that all of you were stumped as much as I was. What solved the problem was actually switching databases. I switched from the default sqlite3 to mysql.

  • Perl date function/module able to understand full unabbreviated months.

    - by s2cuts
    Let's say I read in a string from somewhere that contains a date, and it's date format doesn't abbreviate the month. Is there a module that can handle reading it in, and then outputting it to whichever format I choose? I've taken a quick look through CPAN, and every date module I looked at didn't seem to accommodate an unabbreviated month. Thanks for any help EDIT: As an example, say we have a string like this; "2 February 1988". Now we want to convert it into "1988-02-02" (YYYY-MM-DD).

  • Measuring Usability with Common Industry Format (CIF) Usability Tests

    - by Applications User Experience
    Sean Rice, Manager, Applications User Experience A User-centered Research and Design Process The Oracle Fusion Applications user experience was five years in the making. The development of this suite included an extensive and comprehensive user experience design process: ethnographic research, low-fidelity workflow prototyping, high fidelity user interface (UI) prototyping, iterative formative usability testing, development feedback and iteration, and sales and customer evaluation throughout the design cycle. However, this process does not stop when our products are released. We conduct summative usability testing using the ISO 25062 Common Industry Format (CIF) for usability test reports as an organizational framework. CIF tests allow us to measure the overall usability of our released products.  These studies provide benchmarks that allow for comparisons of a specific product release against previous versions of our product and against other products in the marketplace. What Is a CIF Usability Test? CIF refers to the internationally standardized method for reporting usability test findings used by the software industry. The CIF is based on a formal, lab-based test that is used to benchmark the usability of a product in terms of human performance and subjective data. The CIF was developed and is endorsed by more than 375 software customer and vendor organizations led by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), a US government entity. NIST sponsored the CIF through the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards-making processes. Oracle played a key role in developing the CIF. The CIF report format and metrics are consistent with the ISO 9241-11 definition of usability: “The extent to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use.” Our goal in conducting CIF tests is to measure performance and satisfaction of a representative sample of users on a set of core tasks and to help predict how usable a product will be with the larger population of customers. Why Do We Perform CIF Testing? The overarching purpose of the CIF for usability test reports is to promote incorporation of usability as part of the procurement decision-making process for interactive products. CIF provides a common format for vendors to report the methods and results of usability tests to customer organizations, and enables customers to compare the usability of our software to that of other suppliers. CIF also enables us to compare our current software with previous versions of our software. CIF Testing for Fusion Applications Oracle Fusion Applications comprises more than 100 modules in seven different product families. These modules encompass more than 400 task flows and 400 user roles. Due to resource constraints, we cannot perform comprehensive CIF testing across the entire product suite. Therefore, we had to develop meaningful inclusion criteria and work with other stakeholders across the applications development organization to prioritize product areas for testing. Ultimately, we want to test the product areas for which customers might be most interested in seeing CIF data. We also want to build credibility with customers; we need to be able to make the case to current and prospective customers that the product areas tested are representative of the product suite as a whole. Our goal is to test the top use cases for each product. The primary activity in the scoping process was to work with the individual product teams to identify the key products and business process task flows in each product to test. We prioritized these products and flows through a series of negotiations among the user experience managers, product strategy, and product management directors for each of the primary product families within the Oracle Fusion Applications suite (Human Capital Management, Supply Chain Management, Customer Relationship Management, Financials, Projects, and Procurement). The end result of the scoping exercise was a list of 47 proposed CIF tests for the Fusion Applications product suite.  Figure 1. A participant completes tasks during a usability test in Oracle’s Usability Labs Fusion Supplier Portal CIF Test The first Fusion CIF test was completed on the Supplier Portal application in July of 2011.  Fusion Supplier Portal is part of an integrated suite of Procurement applications that helps supplier companies manage orders, schedules, shipments, invoices, negotiations and payments. The user roles targeted for the usability study were Supplier Account Receivables Specialists and Supplier Sales Representatives, including both experienced and inexperienced users across a wide demographic range.  The test specifically focused on the following functionality and features: Manage payments – view payments Manage invoices – view invoice status and create invoices Manage account information – create new contact, review bank account information Manage agreements – find and view agreement, upload agreement lines, confirm status of agreement lines upload Manage purchase orders (PO) – view history of PO, request change to PO, find orders Manage negotiations – respond to request for a quote, check the status of a negotiation response These product areas were selected to represent the most important subset of features and functionality of the flow, in terms of frequency and criticality of use by customers. A total of 20 users participated in the usability study. The results of the Supplier Portal evaluation were favorable and exceeded our expectations. Figure 2. Fusion Supplier Portal Next Studies We plan to conduct two Fusion CIF usability studies per product family over the next nine months. The next product to be tested will be Self-service Procurement. End users are currently being recruited to participate in this usability study, and the test sessions are scheduled to begin during the last week of November.

  • SQL Server: What locale should be used to format numeric values into SQL Server format?

    - by Ian Boyd
    It seems that SQL Server does not accept numbers formatted using any particular locale. It also doesn't support locales that have digits other than 0-9. For example, if the current locale is bengali, then the number 123456789 would come out as "?????????". And that's just the digits, nevermind what the digit grouping would be. But the same problem happens for numbers in the Invariant locale, which formats numbers as "123,456,789", which SQL Server won't accept. Is there a culture that matches what SQL Server accepts for numeric values? Or will i have to create some custom "sql server" culture, generating rules for that culture myself from lower level formatting routines? If i was in .NET (which i'm not), i could peruse the Standard Numeric Format strings. Of the format codes available in .NET: c (Currency): $123.46 d (Decimal): 1234 e (Exponentional): 1.052033E+003 f (Fixed Point): 1234.57 g (General): 123.456 n (Number): 1,234.57 p (Percent): 100.00 % r (Round Trip): 123456789.12345678 x (Hexadecimal): FF Only 6 accept all numeric types: c (Currency): $123.46 d (Decimal): 1234 e (Exponentional): 1.052033E+003 f (Fixed Point): 1234.57 g (General): 123.456 n (Number): 1,234.57 p (Percent): 100.00 % r (Round Trip): 123456789.12345678 x (Hexadecimal): FF And of those only 2 generate string representations, in the en-US locale anyway, that would be accepted by SQL Server: c (Currency): $123.46 d (Decimal): 1234 e (Exponentional): 1.052033E+003 f (Fixed Point): 1234.57 g (General): 123.456 n (Number): 1,234.57 p (Percent): 100.00 % r (Round Trip): 123456789.12345678 x (Hexadecimal): FF Of the remaining two, fixed is dependant on the locale's digits, rather than the number being used, leaving General g format: c (Currency): $123.46 d (Decimal): 1234 e (Exponentional): 1.052033E+003 f (Fixed Point): 1234.57 g (General): 123.456 n (Number): 1,234.57 p (Percent): 100.00 % r (Round Trip): 123456789.12345678 x (Hexadecimal): FF And i can't even say for certain that the g format won't add digit groupings (e.g. 1,234). Is there a locale that formats numbers in the way SQL Server expects? Is there a .NET format code? A java format code? A Delphi format code? A VB format code? A stdio format code? latin-numeral-digits

  • Secure an Application/Software by expiration with Date?

    - by JNL
    I have been working on some software application and I update them every 6 months. Currently, the way I track the date is by extracting the date from the system when the user installes the application, encrypt it and store it in a file locally. Whenever the application is started, it checks if 6 months have passed, then it works or it doesn't, in which case it shows an error message telling the user to update. I wonder whether there is a better way to do this. Any comments or suggestions would be highly appreciated

Server does not need            //to be notified            evt.cancel();          }         //check for input Date component               else if (component.getTypeName() == 'AdfRichInputDate') {           //the inputDate af:popup component ID always is ::pop           var popupClientId = component.getAbsoluteLocator() + '::pop';           var popup = component.findComponent(popupClientId);           var hints = {align : AdfRichPopup.ALIGN_END_AFTER,                        alignId : component.getAbsoluteLocator()};           popup.show(hints);           //event is handled on the client. Server does not need           //to be notified           evt.cancel();        }              } } </af:resource> The af:clientListener that calls the JavaScript is added as shown below. <af:inputDate label="Label 1" id="id1">    <af:clientListener method="launchPopUpUsingF8" type="keyDown"/> </af:inputDate> As you may have noticed, the call to open the popup is different for the af:inputListOfValues and the af:inputDate. For the list of values component, an ADF Faces AdfLaunchPopupEvent is queued with the LOV component passed s an argument. Launching the input date popup is a bit more complicate and requires you to lookup the implicit popup dialog and to open it manually. Because the popup is opened manually using the show() method on the af:popup component, the alignment of the dialog also needs to be handled manually. For this, the popup component specifies alignment hints, that for the ALIGN_END_AFTER hint aligns the dialog at the end and below the date component. The align Id hint specifies the component the dialog is relatively positioned to, which of course should be the input date field. The ADF Faces JavaScript API and how to use it is further explained in the Using JavaScript in ADF Faces Rich Client Applications whitepaper available from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/1-2011-javascript-302460.pdf An ADF Insider recording about JavaScript in ADF Faces can be watched from here http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/adf-insider-javascript/adf-insider-javascript.html

    As a follow up to my post the other day on converting a JD Edwards date to a .Net System.DateTime, here is some code to convert a System.DateTime to a JD Edwards date: public static double ToJdeDate(DateTime theDate) {   double jdeDate = 0d;   int dayInYear = theDate.DayOfYear;   int theYear = theDate.Year - 1900;   jdeDate = (theYear * 1000) + dayInYear;   return jdeDate; }

  • List files with last access date in linux

    - by kayaker243
    I'd like to clean up a server that my webmaster let turn into a mess. I know how to list all files not accessed within the last x days using find and -atime, but what I'm looking for is to come up with a listing of the last access date for files one level down in directory /foo: /foo/bar1.txt Dec 11, 2001 /foo/bar2.txt Nov 12, 2008 /foo/bar3.txt Jan 12, 2004 For folders one level down in directory /foo, list the date of the most recently accessed file within the directory (no limit on depth for identifying last access date) /foo/bar1/ Feb 13, 2012 /foo/bar2/ Oct 11, 2008 Where /foo/bar1/ has a file modified Jan 1, 1998 and Feb 13, 2012 and /foo/bar2/ has 30 files, most recent of which was accessed Oct 11, 2008. This question is similar to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5566310/how-to-recursively-find-and-list-the-latest-modified-files-in-a-directory-with-s but rather than the modification date, the date of interest is the last accessed date.

  • How to Format a USB Drive in Ubuntu Using GParted

    - by Trevor Bekolay
    If a USB hard drive or flash drive is not properly formatted, then it will not show up in the Ubuntu Places menu, making it hard to interact with. We’ll show you how to format a USB drive using the tool GParted. Note: Formatting a USB drive will destroy any data currently stored on it. If you think that your USB drive is already properly formatted, but Ubuntu just isn’t picking it up, try unplugging it and plugging it back in to a different USB slot, or restarting your machine with the device plugged in on start-up. Open a terminal by clicking on Applications in the top-left of the screen, then Accessories > Terminal. GParted should be installed by default, but we’ll make sure it’s installed by entering the following command in the terminal: sudo apt-get install gparted To open GParted, enter the following command in the terminal: sudo gparted Find your USB drive in the drop-down box at the top right of the GParted window. The drive should be unallocated – if it has a valid partition on it, then you may be looking at the wrong drive. Note: Make sure you’re on the correct drive, as making changes on the wrong hard drive with GParted can delete all data on a hard drive! Assuming you’re on the right drive, right-click on the unallocated grey block and click New. In the window that pops up, change the File System to fat32 for USB Flash Drives, NTFS for USB Hard Drives that will be used in Windows, or ext3/ext4 for USB Hard Drives that will be used exclusively in Linux. Add a label if you’d like, and then click Add. Click the green checkmark and then the Apply button to apply the changes. GParted will now format your drive. If you’re formatting a large USB Hard Drive, this can take some time. Once the process is done, you can close GParted, and the drive will now show up in the Places menu. Clicking on the drive will mount it and open it in a File Browser window. It will also add a shortcut to the drive on the Desktop by default. Your USB drive is now ready to store your files! • What is the format of DXGI_FORMAT_D24_UNORM_S8_UINT?

    - by bobobobo
    I'm trying to read the values in a depth texture of type DXGI_FORMAT_D24_UNORM_S8_UINT. I know this means "24 bits for depth, 8 bits for stencil" "A 32-bit z-buffer format that supports 24 bits for depth and 8 bits for stencil.", but how do you interpret those 24 bits? It's clearly not going to be a 32-bit int, and it's not going to be a 32-bit float. If it is an integer value, how "far away" is a value of "1" in the depth texture?
