  • Parsing NTFS Partition in C

    Hello all, I'm just a beginner and I have a need to parse a NTFS partition for the purpose of extracting Security Descriptors. (I been trying to use the native functions of the Windows API, but my conclusion is that something is seriously wrong with the functions' behavior, or their documentation.) I was wondering if anybody here experienced with such requirement, and could give me few hints, references, guidance... where to begin? (I've found www.ntfs.com, seems to have NTFS structure information, but I'm afraid I'll need something more to get started...) My intention is to use it under Windows XP.     I'm making a tool to track calls to house/senate reps, and I have 2 tables of importance here: reps rep_id rep_name # and more info comments rep_id status # enum about result of contact comment I want to query for all reps joining the most recent associated comments and in some cases joining comments of a specific status, but there might not be any comments associated with that rep yet.     Suppose I have a MySQL table called MyTable, that looks like this: +----+------+-------+ | Id | Type | Value | +----+------+-------+ | 0 | A | 1 | | 0 | B | 1 | | 1 | A | 2 | | 1 | B | 3 | | 2 | A | 5 | | 2 | B | 8 | +----+------+-------+ And, for each Id, I want to insert a new row with type C whose Value is the sum of the type A and B values for the rows of the same Id. The primary key on this table is (Id, Type), so there's no question of duplication of Id,Type pairs. I can create the rows I want with this query: SELECT MyTable_A.Id AS Id, 'C' AS Type, (A_Val + B_Val) AS Value FROM (SELECT Id, Value AS A_Val FROM MyTable WHERE Type='A') AS MyTable_A JOIN (SELECT Id, Value AS B_Val FROM MyTable WHERE Type='B') AS MyTable_B ON MyTable_A.Id = MyTable_B.Id Giving: +----+------+-------+ | Id | Type | Value | +----+------+-------+ | 0 | C | 2 | | 1 | C | 5 | | 2 | C | 13 | +----+------+-------+ But the question is: How do I use this result to insert the generated type-C rows into MyTable? Is there a relatively simple way to do this with a query, or do I need to write a stored procedure? And if the latter, guidance would be helpful, as I'm not too well versed in them.

EDIT : Finger friendly means big icons, big buttons , scrollable screens with a simple touch of the thumb... Because the Winforms in Compact framework are made for the stylus, not fingers !!

  • Beginner, learning as I go - how to get C#/SQLite db set up and ready for testing?

    I've messed with Access a little bit in the past, had one class on OO theory, and one class on console c++ apps. Now, as a hobby project, I'm undertaking to write an actual app, which will be a database app using System.Data.SQLite and C#. I have the db's table structure planned. I have System.Data.SQLite installed and connected to VS Pro. I entered my tables and columns in VS, but that's where I'm stuck. I really don't know how to finish the db set up so I can start creating queries and testing the db structure. Can someone give me guidance to online resources that will help me learn how to get the db properly set up so I can proceed with testing it? I'm hoping for online resources specific to beginners using C# and System.Data.SQLite, but I'll use the closest I can get. Thanks.

    I need a way to track all allocations in a .NET application that happen during a single step in the process of debugging my application. I mean, when I'm in the debugger, stepping through code, I would like to see for a single step what allocation took place. Is there a tool or a way to do it? I tried several memory profilers including CLR profiler, JetBrains and .NET Memory Profiler 3.5 and none of them seems to provide this kind of funcionality.

  • Prevent an element from being the target in a document mouseover

    I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted. Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target. Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.

    when i open a new xxx.xml file it doesnt write to the R.id my new var example when i write in xml : <__Button android:text="New Game" android:id="@+id/newGameButton" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"</Button (the _ r from this web format boundaries ) in R it should write : public static final int newGameButton=0x7f050013; note : this is a xml i added as new to my project should i make something so the eclipse tool will write automatically to the R file?

  • How does Google implement Microsoft Exchange access?

    I know with Android 2.x there is the ability to tap into Microsoft Exchange, for at least email, if not calendar and contacts. I would like to see how this was accomplished. Particularly because Microsoft Exchange exposes SOAP web services, and I understand there is no native Android support for SOAP. Since this is open source, shouldn't I be able to find something in the Android source? If so, can you point me in the right direction of where to find it in the ~4Gig (!) source? I want to develop an application that accesses Exchange contacts and calendars, but don't want to reinvent that piece. Any other guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Changing the modified date of a message in Exchange 2010

    My organization is in the middle of a process to move their Exchange 2010 messaging system from one archiving platform to another. As part of this process, we need to restore all archived messages back into users' email accounts, and then let the new system import them again. The problem is that when the messages are dumped back, the modified date on the message is set to the date it was restored, which trips up message archiving and basically means nobody will have anything archived for six months. So you don't have to ask: no, our archiving platform only uses the modified timestamp on the message and cannot be altered to temporarily use the sent or received timestamp instead to determine whether to archive it. We and others have asked for the feature, but it doesn't exist right now. What we're looking for is a method to go through the user's mailbox and alter the modified timestamp of each message (or preferably received more than X months ago) to the received date of the message. We also don't want to spend more on this tool per user than we're spending on the archiving solution in the first place. We've run across a few tools that are something ridiculous like $25 per user. I don't think we're even paying close to that for Exchange and the archiving solution put together. Whatever we settle on should function on a live mailbox with no downtime. Playing around with PST imports and hacky little things like that isn't going to work. We're fine with programming/scripting, if anyone knows the best way through PowerShell, COM automation or some other way to best handle this.

Printing to file would be a last resort, I would prefer a small-footprint command line tool or API that will do the job. The problem is that the data is completed correctly on the form but the images are not uploaded. Can anyone help with advices/code/guidance?
