overflow-y hides page contents in a webkit browsers (Chrome and Safari)

Hi, I am currently making our website to be supported by all major browsers and I've met a very strange problem - oveflow-y attribute caused my data to be hidden. Below I've got an oversimplified code sample that works in IE and Firfox, but which doesn't work in Safari and Chrome. I don't do very much jquery / javascript but wanted to ask for some advice on the following piece. I have tried to cut out as much as possible. Most of this was semi-inherited code with catching a bunch of events just hardcoded in. I'd like to generalized them more by putting the object name in the html and accessing via jquery on processing (by_date, by_popularity). I retriev as string and access the object via window[current_obj]. Is this a good way to do this or am I missing something? I have a Silverlight app that has to load an image dynamically, depending on the image name. Changing CSS Rules using JavaScript or jQuery

Initial Research I am aware of using .css() to get and set the CSS rules of a particular element. I have seen a website with this CSS: body, table td, select { font-family: Arial Unicode MS, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; } I never liked Arial Unicode as a font. Well, that was my personal feel. So, I would use Chrome's Style Inspector to edit the Arial Unicode MS to Segoe UI or something which I like. Is there anyway, other than using the following to achieve the same? Case I $("body, table td, select").css("font-family", "Segoe UI"); Recursive, performance intensive. Doesn't work when things are loaded on the fly. Case II $('<style>body, table td, select {font-famnily: "Segoe UI";}</style>') .appendTo("head"); Any other better method than this? Creates a lot of <style> tags!

IE8 CSS Table Effect

I've been trying to make this cross browser (specifically IE), but I do not want to use tables. I will not be able to specify the container width with CSS because its contents (the image) will dynamically change with Javascript, so I need the container to 'auto-size' horizontally. The desired effect would be a centered image with two sets of text (one of the left and one of the left) directly underneath the image, aligned to it's inner edges. Javascript hide/show classes with checkbox

I am just learning javascript, so please bear with me! I want to be able to use checkboxes to choose to hide/show div classes (to basically filter the amount of info being shown). It is done in this... but I'm try to figure out something much simpler (since I don't need to dynamically generate the checkbox options.) Text over floated images

I need to put some text over a series of images in a gallery. I found many tutorials about the text part however the images need to be floated. Whenever I add float:left though the trick no longer works. My Fail tries I have all ready try some thinks but I fail. For example this fails. txtQuestion.RenderingCompatibility = new Version("3.5"); I also locate the point that this attributes renders and is on public virtual void RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag tagKey) function, there every attribute have a flag if he wish to be encoded, but I do not know how can anyone set it or not. [Qt] How to get rid of OCI.dll dependency when compiling static

Hi, My application accesses an Oracle database through Qt's QSqlDatabase class. I'm compiling Qt as static for the release build, but I can't seem to be able to get rid of OCI.dll dependency. I'm trying to link against oci.lib (as available in Oracle's Instant Client with SDK). Here's my configure line : configure -qt-libjpeg -qt-zlib -qt-libpng -nomake examples -nomake demos -no-exceptions -no-stl -no-rtti -no-qt3support -no-scripttools -no-openssl -no-opengl -no-phonon -no-style-motif -no-style-cde -no-style-cleanlooks -no-style-plastique -static -release -opensource -plugin-sql-oci -plugin-sql-sqlite -platform win32-msvc2005 I link against oci.h and oci.lib in the SDK's folder by using : set INCLUDE=C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\include;%INCLUDE% set LIB=C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\lib\msvc;%LIB% Then, once Qt is compiled, I use the following lines in my *.pro file : QT += sql CONFIG += static LIBS += C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\lib\msvc\oci.lib QTPLUGIN += qsqloci Then, in my main.cpp, I add the following commands to statically compile OCI plugin in the application : #include <QtPlugin> Q_IMPORT_PLUGIN(qsqloci) After compiling the project, I test it on my workstation and it works (as I have Oracle Instant Client installed). When I try on another workstation, I always get the message: This application has failed to start because OCI.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem. I don't understand why I still need OCI.dll, as my statically linked application is supposed to link to oci.lib instead. Is there any Qt people here that might have a solution for me ? Thanks a lot ! Internet Explorer table 1 pixel spacing problem

I've found a strange problem with Internet Explorer related to table spacing and cannot find a way to work around it. An empty table results in a single pixel white space with Internet Explorer (6 and 7, 8 not yet tested), while all other browsers ignore the empty table. windows beneath not being painted when using a layered window

Hi, I will try to explain my problem the best i can, I'm creating a layered window in c++ (using windowsXP), all works fine until i drag my created window near the windows start button, and then when i press the star button of windows taskbar and close it again all the windows beneath of my layered window aren't being painted (only in the area of the start window that pops over my window). My create window is like this: CWnd::CreateEx( WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW | WS_EX_LAYERED, AfxRegisterWndClass(0), lpstr_name, WS_POPUP, 0,0,0,0, pc_parent-GetSafeHwnd(), 0); ... When i create the window with this styles the problem ocurrs, but if i create with the extended style WS_EX_TRANSPARENT and all the others the problem does not occur any more. And if instead of a WS_POPUP window is a WS_CHILD or WS_OVERLAPPED then this also doesn't occur... Can anyone please explain why when i create a WS_POPUP window with the WS_EX_LAYERED style all the beneath windows aren't updated, and if i add the style WS_EX_TRANSPARENT this works fine. Note: why i do not use the WS_EX_TRANSPARENT style if it works right? if i use it then my window can not be dragged and i need it to do it :) Thanks

Listen to double click not click

I'm just wondering why click event happening when I dbclick an element? I have this code:(JSBIN) HTML <p id="hello">Hello World</p> JavaScript document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); this.style.background = 'red'; }, false); document.getElementById('hello').addEventListener('dbclick', function(){ this.style.background = 'yellow'; }, false); It should do different things for click and double click, but it seems when you double click on the p it catch click event in advance and ignore double click. I tried preventDefault the click event too. How can I listen to just dbclick? UPDATE I had a typo in my code. dbclick is wrong. It's dblclick. Anyway the problem still exist. When user double clicks the click event happens. div stacking/layout with css or javascript

so i have 4 divs (i actually have many more but this will simplify the question). i want to display them in two columns. the 4 divs vary in height. the number of actual divs in the end will vary. so if i have this <div id="1" style="height: 200px" class="inline">some content here</div> <div id="2" style="height: 600px" class="inline">some content here</div> <div id="3" style="height: 300px" class="inline">some content here</div> <div id="4" style="height: 200px" class="inline">some content here</div> with styling thus .inline { display: inline-block; vertical-align: top; width: 48%;} so #1 would go left and then #2 would shove up beside it to the right, great, but the #3 will not slide up the 400px to fit nicely below #1. (of course)... it goes on the left side but at 600px from the top clearing the bottom of #2. etc... how would i get the divs to slide up into the empty spaces, is it possible with css? jquery maybe? i know i could write column divs to mark it up, but since the number of divs constantly change and the heights vary according to content. It would be nice to just get rid of the space since we dont really care about the order. any thoughts?

Here's the original style of the document: **FOODS - TYPE A** ___________________________________ **PRODUCT** 1) Mi Pueblito Queso Fresco Authentic Mexican Style Fresh Cheese; 2) La Fe String Cheese **CODE** Sell by date going back to February 1, 2009 And the successfully-running PHP Regex match code that only returns "true" if the line is surrounded by asterisks, and stores each side of the "-" as $m[1] and $m[2], respectively. if ( preg_match('#^\*\*([^-]+)(?:-(.*))?\*\*$#', $line, $m) ) { // only for **header - subheader** $m[2] is set. if ( isset($m[2]) ) { return array(TYPE_HEADER, array(trim($m[1]), trim($m[2]))); } else { return array(TYPE_KEY, array($m[1])); } } So, for line 1: $m[1] = "FOODS" AND $m[2] = "TYPE A"; Line 2 would be skipped; Line 3: $m[1] = "PRODUCT", etc. The question: How would I re-write the above regex match if the headers did not have the asterisks, but still was all-caps, and was at least 4 characters long? I have been trying to write a regex that will remove whitespace following a semicolon (';') when it is between both an open and close curly brace ('{','}'). I've gotten somewhere but haven't been able to pull it off. Here what I've got: <?php $output = '@import url("/home/style/nav.css"); body{color:#777; background:#222 url("/home/style/nav.css") top center no-repeat; line-height:23px; font-family:Arial,Times,serif; font-size:13px}' $output = preg_replace("#({.*;) \s* (.*[^;]})#x", "$1$2", $output); ?> The the $output should be as follows.
