• Handling button presses in Gtk2::Image objects

  I've been trying to get an Gtk2::Image object in this perl Gtk2 application to get to react to button presses, but to no avail. The image shows as expected but the button events don't get handled.   Hi all, This is about "inheritance" in JavaScript. Supose I create a constructor Bird(), and another called Parrot() which I make to "inherit" the props of Bird by asigning an instance of it to Parrot's prototype, like the following code shows: function Bird() { this.fly = function(){}; } function Parrot() { this.talk = function(){ alert("praa!!"); }; } Parrot.prototype = new Bird(); var p = new Parrot(); p.talk(); // Alerts "praa!!" alert(p.constructor); // Alerts the Bird function!?!?! • Exception declared on ANTLR grammar rule ignored

  I have a tree parser that's doing semantic analysis on the AST generated by my parser. It has a rule declared as follows: transitionDefinition throws WorkflowStateNotFoundException: /* ... */ This compiles just fine and matches the rule syntax at the ANTLR Wiki but my exception is never declared so the Java compiler complains about undeclared exceptions. ./tool/src/main/antlr3/org/antlr/grammar/v3/ANTLRv3.g shows that it's building a tree (but I'm not actually positive if it's the v2 or v3 grammar that ANTLR 3.2 is using): throwsSpec : 'throws' id ( ',' id )* -> ^('throws' id+) ; I know I can make it a runtime exception, but I'd like to use my exception hierarchy. Am I doing something wrong or should that syntax work?

• How can I set a highlighted image on a table view cell?

  I've followed the code in Apple's AdvancedTableViewCells and built a table view with a background image for cells. Now I want to change it so that instead of the blue highlight colour, it shows a darker version of my image. What are the steps I need to follow to do this? I'm using a UITableViewCell subclass with a custom NIB. My background image is implemented as the cell.backgroundView. The steps I've take so far are: Change the selectionStyle of the cell to "None" Set the Highlight colour on my UILabel subviews to a light colour Create a darker version of my background as a separate image Override setSelected: animated: I'm wondering about the next steps.

  Hi, I am trying to convert a flat array to a nested array depending on the 'level' data of each array item. 'level' data shows us if current array item is a child, a parent or a sibling. • Plotting 3-tuple data points in a surface / contour plot using matplotlib

  I have some surface data that is generated by an external program as XYZ values. I want to create the following graphs, using matplotlib: Surface plot Contour plot Contour plot overlayed with a surface plot I have looked at several examples for plotting surfaces and contours in matplotlib - however, the Z values seems to be a function of X and Y i.e. Y ~ f(X,Y). I assume that I will somehow need to transform my Y variables, but I have not seen any example yet, that shows how to do this. So, my question is this: given a set of (X,Y,Z) points, how may I generate Surface and contour plots from that data? BTW, just to clarify, I do NOT want to create scatter plots. Also although I mentioned matplotlib in the title, I am not averse to using rpy(2), if that will allow me to create these charts.

• UIScrollView resizes when a UIViewController is pushed in UINavigationController. Why?

  Hi! When I push a UIViewController within a UINavigationController, the UIScrollView in the view changes dimensions. Now even I am trying to resize the UIScrollView. It wont simply resize. It maintains the framework dimensions. Any idea why this would be happening. Example: My NIB has a view which has a scrollview with dimensions (320, 430) now when I push the UIViewController associated with the view the scrollview still shows dimensions has 320, 430, but is drawn much smaller then 320,430 Any suggestions in this regard.

  Hi All, I'm trying to work out a query that self join itself on a table using the eventnumber. I've never done a self join before. What i'm trying to query is when a client has started off in a city which is chester to see what city they moved to. But I dont want to be able to see if they started off in another city. I would also like be only see the move once (So i'd only like to see if they went from chester to london rather then chester to london to wales) The StartTimeDate is the same EndDateTime if they moved to another city. Data example as follows if they started off in the city chester :- clientid EventNumber City StartDateTime EndDateTime 1 1 Chester 10/03/2009 11/04/2010 13:00 1 1 Liverpool 11/04/2010 13:00 30/06/2010 16:00 1 1 Wales 30/07/2010 16:00 the result I would like to see is on the 2nd row - so it only shows me liverpool.   I have created a WinForm app (VB.NET 2008) that references to a webservice which was added via "Add Service Reference". The app works ok. Question is about distribution of the app. It looks like I need to install the app's config file with the EXE, however I don't want that because the config files shows the actual url of the web service which is not whatt I want. So, is it possible to use a webservice in a WinForm app and only have to install the resulting EXE?

• Netbeans 6.8 groovy files in src/main/java

  I have a new netbeans maven/groovy project, and I actually prefer to mix my java and groovy files in src/main/java and src/test/java (I find it easier to navigate this way and my pom reflects this configuration). However, when I have my project setup this way in Netbeans 6.8, it always shows the generated-sources folder in error. The stubs generated from groovy files in src/test/java can't be opened by netbeans and given an error that they can't be parsed. However, in windows explorer the files are in tact. Netbeans can run the project but it continues to prompt me that some files are in error (even though I know they're not). It's like netbeans isn't refreshing itself. Any thoughts on how to fix this? thanks, Jeff

• Is using jquery to call a WCF Data Service from the UI violating the MVC pattern.

  I'm fairly new to ASP.Net MVC 2 and understand the MVC pattern in itself. But my question is what's the best way to populate dropdownlists in the UI sticking to the MVC pattern. Should I be going through the controller? Every article I've seen to do this shows how to do it using javascript and jquery. I have a test application that I'm re-writing in MVC2 I have my dropdowns working with jquery basically calling a WCF Data Service that returns JSON which populates the dropdowns. Seems to me though that this is bypassing the controller and going straight to the model therefore strictly violating the MVC pattern. Or am I missing something obvious here. You thoughts or best practices would be greatly welcome here. Thanks

• gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 iphone

  Hi, I've seen this error with different variations on discussion forums but being a non programmer I'm not sure how to progress this. Basically I have code which I found to help me with changing the background colors of cells on a grouped uitableview. The code introduced a line as such: CGContextAddArcToPoint(c, minx, miny, midx, miny, ROUND_SIZE); This gave an error indicated that it wasn't declared, so I added to my .h file the following under import uikit: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #define ROUND_SIZE 10 Now it shows that I have an error: Command/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2 failed with exit code 1 iphone Some discussions talk about libraries but because I don't have a programming background I don't understand what to do. I also see that some people show a log output but I'm not sure where that comes from as I don't get any debug windows because I'm guessing it doesn't get that far. I simply click 'Build and Go' and I get this error in the Message window. Any thoughts?

  I have some data in Excel and need to import into database. Is there any tool that can validate and maybe clean the data? Does Red Gate have such tool? The input will be Excel. Given table constraints, eg. CHECK, UNIQUE KEY, datetime format, NOT NULL. Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format. I know using Python can build such a script. But just wonder what's the popular way to do this. Thanks.

• Too many open files error in Glassfish3 while using https listener

  I have a problem running webservice that requires https connection(Glassfish3). After running for a while, it eventually crashes. Log file show "Failed to load keystore type JKS with path ....config/keystore.jks due to ...config/keystore.jks (Too many open files)". lsof shows that a number of open files are constantly increasing (among others, I noticed that there are many files with type 'sock' and undefined protocol that never get closed). I tried changing the limit of open files, but it resulted in a longer time before crashing... I blamed the webservice, but everything works fine if the application doesn't require confidential protocol. Did I miss anything in http listener configuration ? Or it is rather an application error? • OnPage Load display one sentence - hide others

  Hi I have created http://techavid.com/design/test3.html and when you load the page you see there are 3 images. The sun image is focused(in color), while the others are greyed out until clicked. That is how it should be for the images. Under each image you see a sentence 1st: Sun, 2nd: Airplane & 3rd: Nano, but when page loads you see all three sentences. How to make it so when page loads the first sentence underneath the active image (sun) shows only and the others do not show, they only show when clicked (though that works just need to figure out onpage load only show "1st: Sun")? thanks :) paul J.

• Linking to non-home panel in JQTouch site

  I'm trying to create a link from an external site that arrives at a particular, internal panel on a JQTouch site I'm building. However the browser always opens the home panel of the JQT site no matter what anchor tag I use in the link. e.g. If I try to link to the User Interface panel in the official JQTouch demo I use http://www.jqtouch.com/preview/demos/main/#ui but the home panel shows in the browser and not the sub-panel I requested. Any suggestions would be very welcome. I have control of the both the linked and linking sites so can tweak code is necessary. Thanks

• SSRS: Report loading external images, image not found, can I hide the image control

  My SSRS report loads logo images for each customer from a customer number specific folder on the report server. I write an expression, to form my URL to the image based on th customer number. ..."http://localhost/images/" + iCustomerNumber.ToString() + "/logo.gif" I am able to get this working, but the problem I face is, when a particular customer doesn't has an image, then my report shows a red X mark in place of the logo. In this case, I expect to hide the image control itself. Any thoughts???? The other dirty solution will be to ensure that each customer specific folder has the designated image! even if there is no logo for a customer, I'll place a blank.gif or a spacer.gif of probably a square pixel in dimension!.

• How to draw QGraphicsItem in a MFC view

  I'm starting using Qt in my application. My application is MFC based. I want to draw some QGraphicsItems in my currect MFC view, is it possible? You may say that it could be done by hosting QGraphicsView with QWinWidget in the MFC view, that don't work, however. Because my Canvas (MFC view) supports zooming and rotating while the QGraphicsView itself don't. When I zooming the QGraphicsItem, the QGraphicsView shows scroll bar instead of enlarging itself. Any suggestion? Thanks!
