Problem switching to a VT from X

Hello, I have trouble switching to a VT from X I only have VT 6 defined in inittab, however once in X, ctrl + alt + F6 does not work. I see no errors of any sort, and my keymapping is correct. How would I determine the source of, and solve this problem?

Why does the "Logon Help" dialog show up on every boot?

Every time I boot Windows XP Professional on my notebook, the Logon Help dialog (the one which tells you how to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete) automatically opens. How do I disable this? This did not always happen, but has been going on for quite a while now, with both SP2 and SP3. I'm using the classic logon screen, where you have to type in your username and password.

Trouble binding WPF Menu to ItemsSource

I would like to avoid having to build a menu manually in XAML or code, by binding to a list of ICommand-derived objects. However, I'm experiencing a bit of a problem where the resulting menu has two levels of menu-items (i.e. each MenuItem is contained in a MenuItem): My guess is that this is happening because WPF is automatically generating a MenuItem for my binding, but the "viewer" I'm using actually already is a MenuItem (it's derived from MenuItem): <ContextMenu x:Name="selectionContextMenu" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:Note.MultiCommands}}" ItemContainerStyleSelector="{StaticResource separatorStyleSelector}"> <ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Viewers:NoteCommandMenuItemViewer CommandParameter="{Binding Source={x:Static OrangeNote:App.Screen}, Path=SelectedNotes}" /> </DataTemplate> </ContextMenu.ItemTemplate> </ContextMenu> (The ItemContainerStyleSelector is from http://bea.stollnitz.com/blog/?p=23, which allows me to have Separator elements inside my bound source.) I am using CruiseControl.net for continous integration. I've created a repository for my project using VisualSvn server (uses Windows Authentication). Both the servers are hosted in the same system (Os-Microsoft Windows Server 2003 sp2). Sublime Text 2 'text bubbling'?

In vim and Notepad++ I have an awesome feature either mapped or built in that I've seen called text bubbling. I know about the Sublime documentation for mapping my own, but wanted to make sure I wasn't duplicating functionality: Basically when I have either block of text selected, or just a cursor on a line, I push (ctrl + up/down) or some other mapping, and the text is moved up or down, in a block, and the rest of the text 'flows' around it. Is this a native feature in Sublime Text or should I script it in?

Writing Russian in XML

Hi, I am writing a Xml Tag Renamer class with Java which reads in a XML, renames the tags and write them back into another XML file using DocumentBuilderFactory and TransformerFactory (text nodes are preserved). It worked fine before with German and English texts, until today, when I tried to rename a XML file with russian text. Instead of the source texts I got ????? in the newly created XML file. I've tried setting Encoding Any idea how to correct this? Thanks! PS. Strings were correct before entering TransformerFactory, as I checked in the debugger. I've tried setting OutputKeys.ENCODING to UTF-8 and ISO-8859-5. None of them helped. Does Chrome have a quick find shortcut similar to ' in Firefox?

I absolutely lived on the ' shortcut in Firefox, which allows you to do a find that applies to text links, and it focuses on them so you can hit Enter and proceed to that link. Chrome only has ctrl-f which focuses on links as well, but you have to ESC out and then hit Enter, which is not as immediate as the Firefox shortcut. Is anyone aware of a Chrome shortcut that replicates this functionality? Or is there some hidden shortcut/key that does this in Chrome which I'm simply unaware of?

Customizing VNC Client Keymapping for PC to Mac Connections

I'm currently using UltraVNC to connect to my Mac Mini from my Windows 7 machine. I'm running into annoyances/issues because I'd like to use activate certan Mac key combinations from my Windows keyboard but can't, and I may even want to remap explicitly what Windows Shift, Alt, Ctrl, and Win do on the Mac when I'm using the VNC client. Does anyone know if it is possible to customize this in UltraVNC, or if there is some other client that can do that?

NSOutlineview - strange behavior after reloading data

I have a NSOutlineView which loads data from a data source. The table is displayed in a panel. The items shown in the table are items which belong to an object (the relation is one-to many between the object and the items). I have a list of objects in a combo box (in fact a NSPopupButton), and when I select another object in the combo box, I want it's items to be shown in the table (the NSOutlineView). I managed to do all this , however when I select another object from the combo box, not all of it's items are displayed. I have put some logging messages in the data source and it seems that there are some items that are being returned from the data source , but are not shown in the table (and are not queried for children). Now the strange part is that when I click the main window (as I said, all that I described here is in a NSPanel loaded on top of the window) , all the data is displayed correctly. It seems as if clicking the main window triggers something in the NSOutlineView that makes it display the missing items, but I can't tell what it is.

How does VS 2005 provide history across all TFS Team Projects when tf.exe cannot?

In Visual Studio 2005, in the TFS Source Control Explorer, these is a top-level node for the TFS Server itself, with a child node for each Team Project. Right-clicking either the server node or the node for a Team Project gives a context menu on which there is a View History item. Selecting this gives you a History window showing the last 200 or so changesets, either for the specific Team Project chosen, or across all Team Projects. It is this history across all Team Projects that I am wondering about. The command-line tf.exe history command provides (as I understand it) basically the same functionality as is provided by the VS TFS Source Control plug-in. But I cannot work out how to get tf.exe history to provide this across-all-Team-Projects history. At a command line, supposing I have C:\ mapped as the root of my workspace, and Foo, Bar, and Baz as Team Projects, I can do C:\> tf history Foo /recursive /stopafter:200 to get the last 200 changesets that affected Team Project Foo; or from within a Team Project folder C:\Bar> tf history *.* /recursive /stopafter:200 which does the same thing for Team Project Bar - note that the wildcard *.* is allowed here. However, none of these work (each gives the error message shown): C:\> tf history /recursive /stopafter:200 The history command takes exactly one item C:\> tf history *.* /recursive /stopafter:200 Unable to determine the source control server C:\> tf history *.* /server:servername /recursive /stopafter:200 Unable to determine the workspace I don't see an option in the docs for tf for specifying a workspace; it seems to only want to determine it from the current folder. So what is VS 2005 doing? Is it internally doing a history on each Team Project in turn and then sticking the results together?? note also that I have tried with Power Tools; tfpt history from the command line gives exactly the same error messages seen here

How to display a subview loaded from a separate NIB file

I'm developing a Cocoa desktop application that uses a source list in the style of iTunes: different elements in the source list cause the main content area to display different views. The content area is entirely filled with a (vertical) NSSplitView; on the left is an NSOutlineView source list. When the user selects an item on the left, the relevant view appears on the right side of the splitter. I can make it work well enough by putting everything in one NIB file and putting a borderless NSTabView to the right of the splitter; to switch views, I just have to change the selected tab. But putting all the views in one NIB is bad practice, so I'm trying to move each of the subviews into their own NIB files. I have a pretty good idea of most of this process — I've created an NSViewController subclass for each of these views (EntityDetailViewController, GroupDetailViewController, and so on), set the File's Owner of each new NIB to the relevant controller class, set the view connection in each NIB, and reworked the bindings. What I don't know is how to actually change which subview is being shown on screen. I've tried using the default generic NSView on the right side and sending it addSubview: messages; I've tried connecting to it as the first subview and calling NSView *newSubview = /* get subview from the new subview controller */ [[subview superview] replaceSubview:subview with:newSubview]; [self setSubview:newSubview]; But everything just leaves the space blank. How do I display a subview loaded from a separate NIB?

Advanced search in Outlook 2007 - can I turn on Search subfolders by default?

When I do an Advanced Search (CTRL-SHIFT-F) in Outlook 2007, the Search subfolders option is always off by default. I have to click the Browse button and enable the checkbox at the bottom of the dialog every time. In Outlook 2002, it remembered the setting. Can Outlook 2007 be made to remember this setting?

Is it possible to get around this class-path size bug?

Right-click menu - properties does not provide a "Security" tab if more than one file/directory is selected (i.e. ctrl-click multiple files). What I do: Copy an xml file (ctrl+C) on a Win Server 2008 machine. Minimize mstsc.exe (remote connection app). Paste the xml file on to my WinXP machine (ctrl+V). The result: All of the original contents are still present but another bit is appended at the end of it. If I do a copy/paste from a Windows Explorer window that's opened to the folder on the remote machine, I do not have the same behavior. I.e. the file copies properly and without any extra surprises. Switching from Sourcesafe - What to look for in a product

We're looking to move off of sourcesafe and on to a more robust source control system for our .Net apps. We're also looking for scripted/automated deployments. I'm a .Net developer (web and winforms). However, most of our development staff is RPG for the IBM iSeries and the devs use Aldon's LMI for source control and deployment. Our manager would prefer to stick with Aldon so all of our products are in the same system. However, I don't have experience with Aldon's products on the .Net side. I've used TFS and Subversion with Tortoise a bit, but not enough to recommend one or the other, especially in comparison to Aldon's product. Does anybody have experience with Aldon's products? If so, thoughts please? Also, other than the obvious things source control systems do, are there things I should avoid or are there must haves? I'm open to any system. A bit of background, I'm the only .Net dev in our company but I let operations do the deployments. I do want the ability to support concurrent checkouts if we hire a new dev.

Interestingly (or buggily?), when I try pasting the style tag into a subcomponent (lower than the top level container), I get a bunch of warnings in the subcomponent editor view stating that CSS type selectors are not supported in.. (all the components in the style sheet). Yet, they do work when the application is executed. Huh? This is how I'm embedding the fonts in the root level container: [Embed(source="/assets/segoepr.ttf", fontName="Segoe", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype", embedAsCFF='false')] public static const font:Class; [Embed(source="/assets/segoeprb.ttf", fontName="Segoe", mimeType="application/x-font-truetype", fontWeight="bold", embedAsCFF='false')] public static const font2:Class; So, is there a way to get embedded fonts to work in design view or what?
