• rails: "unknown action" message when action is clearly specified

  hi, I had hard time to figure out why I've been getting "unknown action" error message when I was do some editing: Unknown action No action responded to 11. Actions: bin, create, destroy, edit, index, new, observe_new, show, tag, update, and vote you can see that Rails did mention each action in the above list - update. And in my form, I did specify action = "update". • Strange error with VS2008 on Windows 7

  We have a solution with two projects, one of them is a Silverlight 3 application which is embedded on the other ASP.NET MVC project. Just recently an error started to appear which makes the build fail. Now here is the really odd thing, under Windows XP the very same code compiles and runs perfectly.... under windows 7 it gives us these errors. It is the very same code, we have tested it on 3 different Win7 machines to no avail. Help will be really really helpful. Thanks in advance.

• MSBuild condition across projects

  I have tried several solutions for this problem. Enough to know I do not know enough about MSBuild to do this elegantly but I feel like there should be a method. I have a set of libraries for working with .net projects. A few of the projects utilize System.Web.Mvc - which recently released Version 2 - and we are looking forward to the upgrade. Currently sites which reference this library reference it directly by the project(csproj) on the developer's computer - not a built version of the library so that changes and source code case easily be viewed when dealing code from this library. This works quite well and would prefer to not have to switch to binary references (but will if this is the only solution). The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine. • Maven not setting classpath for dependencies properly

  OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.32-27-generic" arch: "i386" Family: "unix" Apache Maven 2.2.1 (r801777; 2009-08-06 12:16:01-0700) Java version: 1.6.0_20 I am trying to use the mysql dependency in with maven in ubuntu. If I move the "mysql-connector-java-5.1.14.jar" file that maven downloaded into my $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext/ folder, everything is fine when I run the jar. I think I should be able to just specify the dependency in the pom.xml file and maven should take care of setting the classpath for the dependency jars automatically. Is this incorrect? • Passing a list of files to javac

  How can I get the javac task to use an existing fileset? In my build.xml I have created several filesets to be used in multiple places throughout build file. The macro looks like this: <macrodef name="compile"> <attribute name="sourceref"/> <sequential> <javac srcdir = "${src}" destdir = "${build}" classpathref = "classpath" includeantruntime = "no" debug = "${debug}"> <filelist dir="." files="@{sourceref}" /> <-- email is about this </javac> </sequential> What I'm trying to do is compile only the classes that are needed for specific targets not all the targets in the source tree. And do so without having to specify the files every time. The only problem with this is that javac does not support filelist. It also does not support fileset, path or pathset. I've tried using but it treats the list as a single file name. Another thing I tried is sending the reference directly (not using toString) and using but include does not have a ref attribute. SO THE QUESTION IS: How do you get the javac task to use a reference to a fileset that was defined in another part of the build file? I'm not interested in solutions that cause me to have multiple javac tasks. Completely re-writting the macro is acceptable. Changes to the targets are also acceptable provided redundant code between targets is kept to a minimum. p.s. Another problem is that fileset wants a comma separated list. I've only done a brief search for a way to convert semi-colons to commas and haven't found a way to do that. p.p.s.   We have this dynamic uploader which creates a new instance of swfupload. I'm a little bit confused with the outputs produced by firefox and ie. Firefox have the same output as chrome, safari and opera. Whenever I clicked a button for adding a new instance, the previous instances of swfupload in firefox refresh while IE don't. • Maven does not resolve a local Grails plug-in

  My goal is to take a Grails web application and build it into a Web ARchive (WAR file) using Maven, and the key is that it must populate the "plugins" folder without live access to the internet. An "out of the box" Grails webapp will already have the plugins folder populated with JAR files, but the maven build script should take care of populating it, just like it does for any traditional WAR projects (such as WEB-INF/lib/ if it's empty) This is an error when executing mvn grails:run-app with Grails 1.1 using Maven 2.0.10 and org.grails:grails-maven-plugin:1.0. (This "hibernate-1.1" plugin is needed to do GORM.) [INFO] [grails:run-app] Running pre-compiled script Environment set to development Plugin [hibernate-1.1] not installed, resolving.. I've tried installing the plugin manually to my local repository and making it an explicit dependency in POM.xml, but it's still not being recognized.   We had a 3-drive Windows Server 2008 R2 RAID-5 fail (operating in redundancy mode): WDC 1 TB WDC 1 TB WDC 1 TB We removed the failed hard drive, and put a WDC 1 TB drive (that we had standing by) into the machine. When launched, Disk Manager, asked permission to "initialize" the disk as either: Master Boot Record (MBR) Guid Partition Table (GPT) We initialized the disk as GPT, converted it to dynamic, and tried to use the Repair Volume command - except it was greyed out. (which is a terrifying thing on a failed production server hosting 3 virtual servers) i tried from the diskpart command line tool.   Guys & gals, Hope someone can shed some light on this. I am downloading reports from an AIX-based system by directing them to a TT printer which the terminal emulator (MultiView 2000) intercepts and directs to the default printer on the local system. This local printer is configured as a vanilla Generic/Text printer attached to a FILE port. When I print from AIX, the output is spooled down and the local printer prompts for a file name into which to save the file...but not under Windows 7. This has worked fine for many years, on both Win2K and WinXP. However, on Windows 7 the output gets spooled as a file into spool\PRINTERS (and looks as expected) but the print job then hangs with a status of "Error - Printing" and never prompts for a file name. I have to cancel the job. The Generic/Text printer works as expected with other applications. I have tried setting the printer to print directly rather than spooling but this only serves to hang the terminal session too. I've also tried to run the emulator in Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode and as Administrator in case it was something like that but with no luck. As you might expect, it does work fine in XP Mode (as long as I print to a printer defined therein and not the host's printer) but operationally this isn't going to be an option. Obviously this emulation software is a decade old (at least) and I could just cross/upgrade all the users (at a cost) but, before I do so, has anyone seen this sort of behaviour before and found some sort of fix? • How do I upgrade django on ubuntu 9.04?

  I've got Django 1.0.2 installed on Ubuntu 9.04. I'd like to upgrade Django, because I have an app that needs Django 1.1 or greater. I tried using pip to do the upgrade, but got the following: $ sudo pip install Django==1.1 Downloading/unpacking Django==1.1 Downloading Django-1.1.tar.gz (5.6Mb): 5.6Mb downloaded Running setup.py egg_info for package Django Installing collected packages: Django Found existing installation: Django 1.0.2-final Not uninstalling Django at /var/lib/python-support/python2.6, outside environment /usr Running setup.py install for Django changing mode of build/scripts-2.6/django-admin.py from 644 to 755 changing mode of /usr/local/bin/django-admin.py to 755 Successfully installed Django It seems like it worked, but it refuses to remove the original Django 1.02, and sure enough: $ pip freeze | grep -i django Django==1.0.2-final django-debug-toolbar==0.8.3 django-sphinx==2.2.3 $ /usr/local/bin/django-admin.py --version 1.0.2 final The problem, apparently, is that pip won't uninstall files outside of /usr. I'd like to remove the existing Django files manually, but I have no idea how to do that, because I'm unfamiliar with how Python packages are laid out in Ubuntu. It looks pretty complicated. The site-packages directory is: $ python -c "from distutils.sysconfig import get_python_lib; print get_python_lib()" /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages However, that's not where the django files live: $ ls -ld /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/[Dd]jango* ls: cannot access /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/[Dd]jango*: No such file or directory There's a /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/django directory, and the __init__.py file in that directory points to /usr/share/python-support/python-django/django/__init__.py. Clearly, pip is able to figure out where the files live. Is there any way to retrieve the list of files associated with the django package so I can just delete them manually?

• How to mount a LOFS in Solaris that doesn’t cross mountpoints

  I need to access my "root" ZFS dataset to delete a file under "/var". But "/var" is overlayed by another ZFS dataset. Since these are system datasets I can't "umount" them while the machine is running. And I want to avoid to reboot the system in "failsafe" mode, since this is a production machine. Teorically ZFS would refuse to mount "/var" dataset over the underlying "/var", because it is not empty. But it works, possibly because they are system datasets mounted early in the boot process. But having the underlying "/var" not empty is preventing me to create an ABE (Alternate Boot Environment), so patching is risky, and I can't upgrade my system using Live Upgrade. The machine is remote. I have an IP KVM, but I rather prefer to avoid booting this machine in "failsafe" mode, if I can. I know there is a file in "/var/" because I can snapshot the "root" dataset and check it. But snapshots are read-only, so I can't get rid of the file. I tried "mkdir /tmp/zzz; mount -F lofs / /tmp/zzz", but when I go to "/tmp/zzz/var", I see the "/var" dataset, not the underlying "root" dataset. That is, the LOFS is crossing mountpoints. I would usually like it, but not this time!. Any suggestion, beside rebooting the machine in "failsafe" and mess with it thru the IP KVM?

  A family member of mine recently went on vacation and turned off their computer, something they normally do not do, upon returning home it would not turn on and now returns the error message below. Generally friends and family come to me for help with computers and I have no problem, however this time I am a bit stumped. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As you can see the error message is: Status: 0xc000000e Info: The best selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Before going to this error message it briefly flashes the Windows loading screen. I have been able to confirm through the Windows RE Command Line and the dir command that the C: drive is accessible and likely is just suffering a bootup issue. I have tried: Launching the repair process discussed in the error message three times however each time it requires a restart and then returns to the same error message. Changing the boot order to be hard drive first Getting into safe mode; F8 just results in the same error message before I can get to the menu to select safe mode I have checked to make sure the BCD (bcdedit, Boot Configuration Data) is still intact as per https://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH160475 I plan to try (but would like additional comments on): sfc /scannow; requires a restart and thus will likely result in the error message again A memory scan Bootrec as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392#method1 Swapping IDE cables/ports Resetting the BIOS I noticed others with similar issues around the web are dual-booting however this machine is not setup in a dual-boot environment. Additionally at one point this error message supposedly showed up before I started working on the computer: The instruction at 0xfbe2584d referenced memory at 0x00000008. The memory could not be read. As previously stated any additional suggestions or words of advice would be greatly apprecaited.
