  • find and replace tokens in javascript

    - by Sourabh
    Hello, I have to do something like this string = " this is a good example to show" search = array {this,good,show} find and replace them with a token like string = " {1} is a {2} example to {3}" (order is intact) the string will undergo some processing and then string = " {1} is a {2} numbers to {3}" (order is intact) tokens are again replaced back to the string likem so that the string becomes string = " this is a good number to show" How should it be implemented so that the process is done at high performance ? Thanks in advance.

  • MetadataType and client validation in ASP.NET MVC 2

    - by Kristoffer Ahl
    Inherited properties and MetadataType does not seem to work with client side validation in ASP.NET MVC 2. The validation of our MetadataTypes work as expected on the server but for some reason it does not generate the appropriate client scripts for it. Client side validation kicks in as expected for properties with the DataAnnotations attributes set on the PersonView so I know that client side validation is active and that it works. Does anyone know if or how it can be fixed? Here's what we have: public abstract class PersonView { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } public string Email { get; set; } [Required] public string PhoneNumber { get; set; } public string AddressLine1 { get; set; } public string AddressLine2 { get; set; } public string AddressZipCode { get; set; } public string AddressCity { get; set; } public string AddressCountry { get; set; } } [MetadataType(typeof(CustomerViewMetaData))] public class CustomerView : PersonView {} [MetadataType(typeof(GuestViewMetaData))] public class GuestView : PersonView {} public class GuestViewMetaData { [Required(ErrorMessage = "The guests firstname is required")] public string FirstName { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "The guests lastname is required")] public string LastName { get; set; } } public class CustomerViewMetaData { [Required(ErrorMessage = "The customers firstname is required")] public string FirstName { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "The customers lastname is required")] public string LastName { get; set; } [Required(ErrorMessage = "The customers emails is required")] public string Email { get; set; } } As you can see, it's nothing fancy or strange in there... Can it be fixed? Is it a bug in ASP.NET MVC 2?

  • Error with my Android Application httpGet

    - by Coombes
    Basically I'm getting a strange issue with my Android application, it's supposed to grab a JSON Array and print out some values, the class looks like this: ShowComedianActivity.class package com.example.connecttest; public class ShowComedianActivity extends Activity{ TextView name; TextView add; TextView email; TextView tel; String id; // Progress Dialog private ProgressDialog pDialog; //JSON Parser class JSONParser jsonParser = new JSONParser(); // Single Comedian url private static final String url_comedian_details = "http://86.9.71.17/connect/get_comedian_details.php"; // JSON Node names private static final String TAG_SUCCESS = "success"; private static final String TAG_COMEDIAN = "comedian"; private static final String TAG_ID = "id"; private static final String TAG_NAME = "name"; private static final String TAG_ADDRESS = "address"; private static final String TAG_EMAIL = "email"; private static final String TAG_TEL = "tel"; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState){ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.show_comedian); // Getting Comedian Details from intent Intent i = getIntent(); // Getting id from intent id = i.getStringExtra(TAG_ID); new GetComedianDetails().execute(); } class GetComedianDetails extends AsyncTask<String, String, String>{ protected void onPreExecute(){ super.onPreExecute(); pDialog = new ProgressDialog(ShowComedianActivity.this); pDialog.setMessage("Fetching Comedian details. Please wait..."); pDialog.setIndeterminate(false); pDialog.setCancelable(true); pDialog.show(); } @Override protected String doInBackground(String... params) { runOnUiThread(new Runnable(){ public void run(){ int success; try{ //Building parameters List<NameValuePair> params = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("id",id)); // Getting comedian details via HTTP request // Uses a GET request JSONObject json = jsonParser.makeHttpRequest(url_comedian_details, "GET", params); // Check Log for json response Log.d("Single Comedian details", json.toString()); //JSON Success tag success = json.getInt(TAG_SUCCESS); if(success == 1){ // Succesfully received product details JSONArray comedianObj = json.getJSONArray(TAG_COMEDIAN); //JSON Array // get first comedian object from JSON Array JSONObject comedian = comedianObj.getJSONObject(0); // comedian with id found name = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.name); add = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.add); email = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.email); tel = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tel); // Set text to details name.setText(comedian.getString(TAG_NAME)); add.setText(comedian.getString(TAG_ADDRESS)); email.setText(comedian.getString(TAG_EMAIL)); tel.setText(comedian.getString(TAG_TEL)); } } catch (JSONException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } }); return null; } } } And my JSON Parser class looks like: package com.example.connecttest; public class JSONParser { static InputStream is = null; static JSONObject jObj = null; static String json = ""; // constructor public JSONParser() { } // function get json from url // by making HTTP POST or GET method public JSONObject makeHttpRequest(String url, String method, List<NameValuePair> params) { // Making HTTP request try { // check for request method if(method == "POST"){ // request method is POST // defaultHttpClient DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(url); httpPost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(params)); HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost); HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity(); is = httpEntity.getContent(); }else if(method == "GET"){ // request method is GET DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); String paramString = URLEncodedUtils.format(params, "utf-8"); url += "?" + paramString; HttpGet httpGet = new HttpGet(url); HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpGet); HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity(); is = httpEntity.getContent(); } } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } try { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( is, "iso-8859-1"), 8); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); String line = null; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line + "\n"); } is.close(); json = sb.toString(); } catch (Exception e) { Log.e("Buffer Error", "Error converting result " + e.toString()); } // try parse the string to a JSON object try { jObj = new JSONObject(json); } catch (JSONException e) { Log.e("JSON Parser", "Error parsing data " + e.toString()); } // return JSON String return jObj; } } Now when I run a debug it's querying the correct address with ?id=1 on the end of the URL, and when I navigate to that url I get the following JSON Array: {"success":1,"comedian":[{"id":"1","name":"Michael Coombes","address":"5 Trevethenick Road","email":"[email protected]","tel":"xxxxxxxxxxxx"}]} However my app just crashes, the log-cat report looks like this: 03-22 02:05:02.140: E/Trace(3776): error opening trace file: No such file or directory (2) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): android.os.NetworkOnMainThreadException 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at android.os.StrictMode$AndroidBlockGuardPolicy.onNetwork(StrictMode.java:1117) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at libcore.io.BlockGuardOs.connect(BlockGuardOs.java:84) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at libcore.io.IoBridge.connectErrno(IoBridge.java:127) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at libcore.io.IoBridge.connect(IoBridge.java:112) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:192) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:459) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:842) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.conn.scheme.PlainSocketFactory.connectSocket(PlainSocketFactory.java:119) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.conn.DefaultClientConnectionOperator.openConnection(DefaultClientConnectionOperator.java:144) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.conn.AbstractPoolEntry.open(AbstractPoolEntry.java:164) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.conn.AbstractPooledConnAdapter.open(AbstractPooledConnAdapter.java:119) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultRequestDirector.execute(DefaultRequestDirector.java:360) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.client.AbstractHttpClient.execute(AbstractHttpClient.java:555) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.client.AbstractHttpClient.execute(AbstractHttpClient.java:487) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at org.apache.http.impl.client.AbstractHttpClient.execute(AbstractHttpClient.java:465) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at com.example.connecttest.JSONParser.makeHttpRequest(JSONParser.java:62) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at com.example.connecttest.ShowComedianActivity$GetComedianDetails$1.run(ShowComedianActivity.java:89) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at android.os.Handler.handleCallback(Handler.java:615) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:92) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:137) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4745) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:511) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:786) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:553) 03-22 02:05:04.590: E/AndroidRuntime(3776): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) From this I'm guessing the error is in the jsonParser.makeHttpRequest however I can't for the life of me figure out what's going wrong and was hoping someone brighter than I could illuminate me.

  • Handling inheritance with overriding efficiently

    - by Fyodor Soikin
    I have the following two data structures. First, a list of properties applied to object triples: Object1 Object2 Object3 Property Value O1 O2 O3 P1 "abc" O1 O2 O3 P2 "xyz" O1 O3 O4 P1 "123" O2 O4 O5 P1 "098" Second, an inheritance tree: O1 O2 O4 O3 O5 Or viewed as a relation: Object Parent O2 O1 O4 O2 O3 O1 O5 O3 O1 null The semantics of this being that O2 inherits properties from O1; O4 - from O2 and O1; O3 - from O1; and O5 - from O3 and O1, in that order of precedence. NOTE 1: I have an efficient way to select all children or all parents of a given object. This is currently implemented with left and right indexes, but hierarchyid could also work. This does not seem important right now. NOTE 2: I have tiggers in place that make sure that the "Object" column always contains all possible objects, even when they do not really have to be there (i.e. have no parent or children defined). This makes it possible to use inner joins rather than severely less effiecient outer joins. The objective is: Given a pair of (Property, Value), return all object triples that have that property with that value either defined explicitly or inherited from a parent. NOTE 1: An object triple (X,Y,Z) is considered a "parent" of triple (A,B,C) when it is true that either X = A or X is a parent of A, and the same is true for (Y,B) and (Z,C). NOTE 2: A property defined on a closer parent "overrides" the same property defined on a more distant parent. NOTE 3: When (A,B,C) has two parents - (X1,Y1,Z1) and (X2,Y2,Z2), then (X1,Y1,Z1) is considered a "closer" parent when: (a) X2 is a parent of X1, or (b) X2 = X1 and Y2 is a parent of Y1, or (c) X2 = X1 and Y2 = Y1 and Z2 is a parent of Z1 In other words, the "closeness" in ancestry for triples is defined based on the first components of the triples first, then on the second components, then on the third components. This rule establishes an unambigous partial order for triples in terms of ancestry. For example, given the pair of (P1, "abc"), the result set of triples will be: O1, O2, O3 -- Defined explicitly O1, O2, O5 -- Because O5 inherits from O3 O1, O4, O3 -- Because O4 inherits from O2 O1, O4, O5 -- Because O4 inherits from O2 and O5 inherits from O3 O2, O2, O3 -- Because O2 inherits from O1 O2, O2, O5 -- Because O2 inherits from O1 and O5 inherits from O3 O2, O4, O3 -- Because O2 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 O3, O2, O3 -- Because O3 inherits from O1 O3, O2, O5 -- Because O3 inherits from O1 and O5 inherits from O3 O3, O4, O3 -- Because O3 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 O3, O4, O5 -- Because O3 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 and O5 inherits from O3 O4, O2, O3 -- Because O4 inherits from O1 O4, O2, O5 -- Because O4 inherits from O1 and O5 inherits from O3 O4, O4, O3 -- Because O4 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 O5, O2, O3 -- Because O5 inherits from O1 O5, O2, O5 -- Because O5 inherits from O1 and O5 inherits from O3 O5, O4, O3 -- Because O5 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 O5, O4, O5 -- Because O5 inherits from O1 and O4 inherits from O2 and O5 inherits from O3 Note that the triple (O2, O4, O5) is absent from this list. This is because property P1 is defined explicitly for the triple (O2, O4, O5) and this prevents that triple from inheriting that property from (O1, O2, O3). Also note that the triple (O4, O4, O5) is also absent. This is because that triple inherits its value of P1="098" from (O2, O4, O5), because it is a closer parent than (O1, O2, O3). The straightforward way to do it is the following. First, for every triple that a property is defined on, select all possible child triples: select Children1.Id as O1, Children2.Id as O2, Children3.Id as O3, tp.Property, tp.Value from TriplesAndProperties tp -- Select corresponding objects of the triple inner join Objects as Objects1 on Objects1.Id = tp.O1 inner join Objects as Objects2 on Objects2.Id = tp.O2 inner join Objects as Objects3 on Objects3.Id = tp.O3 -- Then add all possible children of all those objects inner join Objects as Children1 on Objects1.Id [isparentof] Children1.Id inner join Objects as Children2 on Objects2.Id [isparentof] Children2.Id inner join Objects as Children3 on Objects3.Id [isparentof] Children3.Id But this is not the whole story: if some triple inherits the same property from several parents, this query will yield conflicting results. Therefore, second step is to select just one of those conflicting results: select * from ( select Children1.Id as O1, Children2.Id as O2, Children3.Id as O3, tp.Property, tp.Value, row_number() over( partition by Children1.Id, Children2.Id, Children3.Id, tp.Property order by Objects1.[depthInTheTree] descending, Objects2.[depthInTheTree] descending, Objects3.[depthInTheTree] descending ) as InheritancePriority from ... (see above) ) where InheritancePriority = 1 The window function row_number() over( ... ) does the following: for every unique combination of objects triple and property, it sorts all values by the ancestral distance from the triple to the parents that the value is inherited from, and then I only select the very first of the resulting list of values. A similar effect can be achieved with a GROUP BY and ORDER BY statements, but I just find the window function semantically cleaner (the execution plans they yield are identical). The point is, I need to select the closest of contributing ancestors, and for that I need to group and then sort within the group. And finally, now I can simply filter the result set by Property and Value. This scheme works. Very reliably and predictably. It has proven to be very powerful for the business task it implements. The only trouble is, it is awfuly slow. One might point out the join of seven tables might be slowing things down, but that is actually not the bottleneck. According to the actual execution plan I'm getting from the SQL Management Studio (as well as SQL Profiler), the bottleneck is the sorting. The problem is, in order to satisfy my window function, the server has to sort by Children1.Id, Children2.Id, Children3.Id, tp.Property, Parents1.[depthInTheTree] descending, Parents2.[depthInTheTree] descending, Parents3.[depthInTheTree] descending, and there can be no indexes it can use, because the values come from a cross join of several tables. EDIT: Per Michael Buen's suggestion (thank you, Michael), I have posted the whole puzzle to sqlfiddle here. One can see in the execution plan that the Sort operation accounts for 32% of the whole query, and that is going to grow with the number of total rows, because all the other operations use indexes. Usually in such cases I would use an indexed view, but not in this case, because indexed views cannot contain self-joins, of which there are six. The only way that I can think of so far is to create six copies of the Objects table and then use them for the joins, thus enabling an indexed view. Did the time come that I shall be reduced to that kind of hacks? The despair sets in.

  • jquery mouseover animation jumping

    - by Sylph
    Hi all, I have a table which is looped in <li>. On mouseover each row, there will be a border shown, and the row id="resFunc" will be displayed. However, in IE, the animation jumps up and down. Anyone has similar experience or solution to solve this? Thanks in advance! <div id="resDetails" align="left"> <table width="400px" class="resBox"> <tr> <td><b>{creator}</b></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"><div class="edit{_id}" id="{_id}"> {title}</div></td> </tr> <tr style="display:none" class="url{_id}"> <td colspan="2" class="edit_url{_id}" id="{_id}">{url}</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="edit_area{_id}" id="{_id}">{description}</td> </tr> <tr id="resFunc{_id}" style="display:none"> <td colspan="2" align="right"><b><a href="#" id="{_id}" class="editRes">Edit</a>&nbsp;&nbsp; <a href="#" class="deleteResource" id="{_id}">Delete</a></b> </td> </tr> </table><br> </div> This is the onClick function :- $(".resBox").mouseover(function(){ var id = $(this).attr("id"); $(this).addClass('highlight'); $('#resFunc'+id).show(); }); $(".resBox").mouseout(function(){ var id = $(this).attr("id"); $(this).removeClass('highlight'); $('#resFunc'+id).hide(); });

  • Improved way to build nested array of unique values in javascript

    - by dualmon
    The setup: I have a nested html table structure that displays hierarchical data, and the individual rows can be hidden or shown by the user. Each row has a dom id that is comprised of the level number plus the primary key for the record type on that level. I have to have both, because each level is from a different database table, so the primary key alone is not unique in the dom. example: id="level-1-row-216" I am storing the levels and rows of the visible elements in a cookie, so that when the page reloads the same rows the user had open are can be shown automatically. I don't store the full map of dom ids, because I'm concerned about it getting too verbose, and I want to keep my cookie under 4Kb. So I convert the dom ids to a compact json object like this, with one property for each level, and a unique array of primary keys under each level: { 1:[231,432,7656], 2:[234,121], 3:[234,2], 4:[222,423], 5:[222] } With this structure stored in a cookie, I feed it to my show function and restore the user's previous disclosure state when the page loads. The area for improvement: I'm looking for better option for reducing my map of id selectors down to this compact format. Here is my function: function getVisibleIds(){ // example dom id: level-1-row-216-sub var ids = $("tr#[id^=level]:visible").map(function() { return this.id; }); var levels = {}; for(var i in ids ) { var id = ids[i]; if (typeof id == 'string'){ if (id.match(/^level/)){ // here we extract the number for level and row var level = id.replace(/.*(level-)(\d*)(.*)/, '$2'); var row = id.replace(/.*(row-)(\d*)(.*)/, '$2'); // *** Improvement here? *** // This works, but it seems klugy. In PHP it's one line (see below): if(levels.hasOwnProperty(level)){ if($.inArray(parseInt(row, 10) ,levels[level]) == -1){ levels[level].push(parseInt(row, 10)); } } else { levels[level] = [parseInt(row, 10)]; } } } } return levels; } If I were doing it in PHP, I'd build the compact array like this, but I can't figure it out in javascript: foreach($ids as $id) { if (/* the criteria */){ $level = /* extract it from $id */; $row = /* extract it from $id */; $levels[$level][$row]; } }

  • Java: Cannot find a method's symbol even though that method is declared later in the class. The remaining code is looking for a class.

    - by Midimistro
    This is an assignment that we use strings in Java to analyze a phone number. The error I am having is anything below tester=invalidCharacters(c); does not compile because every line past tester=invalidCharacters(c); is looking for a symbol or the class. In get invalidResults, all I am trying to do is evaluate a given string for non-alphabetical characters such as *,(,^,&,%,@,#,), and so on. • Need help with 2 MySql Queries. Join vs Subqueries.

    - by BugBusterX
    I have 2 tables: user: id, name message: sender_id, receiver_id, message, read_at, created_at There are 2 results I need to retrieve and I'm trying to find the best solution. I have included queries that I'm using in the very end. I need to retrieve a list of users, and also with each user have information available whether there are any unread messages from each user (them as sender, me as receiver) and whether or not there are any read messages between us ( they send I'm receiver or I send they are receivers) I need Same as above, but only those members where there has been any messaging between us, sorted by unread first, then by last message received. Can you advise please? Should this be done with joins or subqueries? In first case I do not need the count, I just need to know whether or not there is at least one unread message. I'm posting code and my current queries, please have a look when you get a chance: BTW, everything is the way I want in fist query. My concern is: In second query I would like to order by messages.created_at, but I dont think I can do that with grouping? And also I dont know if this approach is the most optimized and fast. CREATE TABLE `user` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `name` varchar(255) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) INSERT INTO `user` VALUES (1,'User 1'),(2,'User 2'),(3,'User 3'),(4,'User 4'),(5,'User 5'); CREATE TABLE `message` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `sender_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, `receiver_id` bigint(20) DEFAULT NULL, `message` text, `read_at` datetime DEFAULT NULL, `created_at` datetime NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) INSERT INTO `message` VALUES (1,3,1,'Messge',NULL,'2010-10-10 10:10:10'),(2,1,4,'Hey','2010-10-10 10:10:12','2010-10-10 10:10:11'),(3,4,1,'Hello','2010-10-10 10:10:19','2010-10-10 10:10:15'),(4,1,4,'Again','2010-10-10 10:10:25','2010-10-10 10:10:21'),(5,3,1,'Hiii',NULL,'2010-10-10 10:10:21'); SELECT u.*, m_new.id as have_new, m.id as have_any FROM user u LEFT JOIN message m_new ON (u.id = m_new.sender_id AND m_new.receiver_id = 1 AND m_new.read_at IS NULL) LEFT JOIN message m ON ((u.id = m.sender_id AND m.receiver_id = 1) OR (u.id = m.receiver_id AND m.sender_id = 1)) GROUP BY u.id SELECT u.*, m_new.id as have_new, m.id as have_any FROM user u LEFT JOIN message m_new ON (u.id = m_new.sender_id AND m_new.receiver_id = 1 AND m_new.read_at IS NULL) LEFT JOIN message m ON ((u.id = m.sender_id AND m.receiver_id = 1) OR (u.id = m.receiver_id AND m.sender_id = 1)) where m.id IS NOT NULL GROUP BY u.id

  • How to custom query using ORM in Fuelphp?

    - by viyancs
    I have a problem when I want to query table using ORM ,example I have article table with field id,author,text. My code like this : // Single where $article = Model_Article::find()->where('id', 4); print_r($article); that't code will be fetch all field on table article, it's like select * from article where id = 4 Try Possibility $article = Model_Article::find(null, array('id','title'))->where('id', 3); the response is object(Orm\Query)#89 (14) { ["model":protected]=> string(10) "Model_Article" ["connection":protected]=> NULL ["view":protected]=> NULL ["alias":protected]=> string(2) "t0" ["relations":protected]=> array(0) { } ["joins":protected]=> array(0) { } ["select":protected]=> array(1) { ["t0_c0"]=> string(5) "t0.id" } ["limit":protected]=> NULL ["offset":protected]=> NULL ["rows_limit":protected]=> NULL ["rows_offset":protected]=> NULL ["where":protected]=> array(1) { [0]=> array(2) { [0]=> string(9) "and_where" [1]=> array(3) { [0]=> string(5) "t0.id" [1]=> string(1) "=" [2]=> int(3) } } } ["order_by":protected]=> array(0) { } ["values":protected]=> array(0) { } } that's is not return id or title field. but when i'm try by adding get_one() method $article = Model_Article::find(null, array('id','title'))->where('id', 3)->get_one(); id is return , but title is not and another field, i don't know why ? Reference ORM Discussion FuelPHP it's say ORM currently will be select all column, no plans to change that at the moment. My Goal I want to query in orm like this select id,owner from article where id = 4 it's will be return only id & owner, how i can get that using orm ?

    I have been using this "logic" in C++ and VB with success, but am tied up in Java... Simply put, public void DataProviderExample(String user, String pwd, String no_of_links, String link1, String link2, String link3) { for (int i=1;i<=no_of_links;i++) { String link = "link"+i; System.out.println(link); } Now, if the variables link1, link2 and link3 have a value of "X", "Y" and "Z" respectively, upon running this program, I get the following output - link1 link2 link3 What I want is - X Y Z Any ideas?

Everytime I check a particular checkbox and hit refresh button the page loads with all the checkboxes checked. Please help me with this. Thank you in Advance.

  • Using an alternate search platform in Commerce Server 2009

    - by Lewis Benge
    Although Microsoft Commerce Server 2009's architecture is built upon Microsoft SQL Server, and has the full power of the SQL Full Text Indexing Search Platform, there are time however when you may require a richer or alternate search platform. One of these scenarios if when you want to implement a faceted (refinement) search into your site, which provides dynamic refinements based on the search results dataset. Faceted search is becoming popular in most online retail environments as a way of providing an enhanced user experience when browsing a larger catalogue. This is powerful for two reasons, firstly with a traditional search it is down to a user to think of a search term suitable for the product they are trying to find. This typically will not return similar products or help in any way to refine a larger dataset. Faceted searches on the other hand provide a comprehensive list of product properties, grouped together by similarity to help the user narrow down the results returned, as the user progressively restricts the search criteria by selecting additional criteria to search again, these facets needs to continually refresh. The whole experience allows users to explore alternate brands, price-ranges, or find products they hadn't initially thought of or where looking for in a bid to enhance cross sell in the retail environment. The second advantage of this type of search from a business perspective is also to harvest the search result to start to profile your user. Even though anonymous users may routinely visit your site, and will not necessarily register or complete a transaction to build up marketing data- profiling, you can still achieve the same result by recording search facets used within the search sequence. Below is a faceted search scenario generated from eBay using the search term "server". By creating a search profile of clicking through Computer & Networking -> Servers -> Dell - > New and recording this information against my user profile you can start to predict with a lot more certainty what types of products I am interested in. This will allow you to apply shopping-cart analysis against your search data and provide great cross-sale or advertising opportunity, or personalise the user experience based on your prediction of what the user may be interested in. This type of search is extremely beneficial in e-Commerce environments but achieving it out of the box with Commerce Server and SQL Full Text indexing can be challenging. In many deployments it is often easier to use an alternate search platform such as Microsoft's FAST, Apache SOLR, or Endecca, however you still want these products to integrate natively into Commerce Server to ensure that up-to-date inventory information is presented, profile information is generated, and you provide a consistant API. To do so we make the most of the Commerce Server extensibilty points called operation sequence components. In this example I will be talking about Apache Solr hosted on Apache Tomcat, in this specific example I have used the SolrNet C# library to interface to the Java platform. Also I am not going to talk about Solr configuration of indexing – but in a production envionrment this would typically happen by using Powershell to call the Commerce Server management webservice to export your catalog as XML, apply an XSLT transform to the file to make it conform to SOLR and use a simple HTTP Post to send it to the search enginge for indexing. Essentially a sequance component is a step in a serial workflow used to call a data repository (which in most cases is usually the Commerce Server pipelines or databases) and map to and from a Commerce Entity object whilst enforcing any business rules. So the first step in the process is to add a new class library to your existing Commerce Server site. You will need to use a new library as Sequence Components will need to be strongly named to be deployed. Once you are inside of your new project, add a new class file and add a reference to the Microsoft.Commerce.Providers, Microsoft.Commerce.Contracts and the Microsoft.Commerce.Broker assemblies. Now make your new class derive from the base object Microsoft.Commerce.Providers.Components.OperationSequanceComponent and overide the ExecuteQueryMethod. Your screen will then look something similar ot this: As all we are doing on this component is conducting a search we are only interested in the ExecuteQuery method. This method accepts three arguments, queryOperation, operationCache, and response. The queryOperation will be the object in which we receive our search parameters, the cache allows access to the Commerce Server cache allowing us to store regulary accessed information, and the response object is the object which we will return the result of our search upon. Inside this method is simply where we are going to inject our logic for our third party search platform. As I am not going to explain the inner-workings of actually making a SOLR call, I'll simply provide the sample code here. I would highly recommend however looking at the SolrNet wiki as they have some great explinations of how the API works. What you will find however is that there are some further extensions required when attempting to integrate a custom search provider. Firstly you out of the box the CommerceQueryOperation you will receive into the method when conducting a search against a catalog is specifically geared towards a SQL Full Text Search with properties such as a Where clause. To make the operation you receive more relevant you will need to create another class, this time derived from Microsoft.Commerce.Contract.Messages.CommerceSearchCriteria and within this you need to detail the properties you will require to allow you to submit as parameters to the SOLR search API. My exmaple looks like this: [DataContract(Namespace = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/microsoft-multi-channel-commerce-foundation/types/2008/03")] public class CommerceCatalogSolrSearch : CommerceSearchCriteria { private Dictionary<string, string> _facetQueries;   public CommerceCatalogSolrSearch() { _facetQueries = new Dictionary<String, String>();   }     public Dictionary<String, String> FacetQueries { get { return _facetQueries; } set { _facetQueries = value; } }   public String SearchPhrase{ get; set; } public int PageIndex { get; set; } public int PageSize { get; set; } public IEnumerable<String> Facets { get; set; }   public string Sort { get; set; }   public new int FirstItemIndex { get { return (PageIndex-1)*PageSize; } }   public int LastItemIndex { get { return FirstItemIndex + PageSize; } } }  To allow you to construct a CommerceQueryOperation call within the API you will also need to construct another class to derived from Microsoft.Commerce.Common.MessageBuilders.CommerceSearchCriteriaBuilder and is simply used to construct an instance of the CommerceQueryOperation you have just created and expose the properties you want set. My Message builder looks like this: public class CommerceCatalogSolrSearchBuilder : CommerceSearchCriteriaBuilder { private CommerceCatalogSolrSearch _solrSearch;   public CommerceCatalogSolrSearchBuilder() { _solrSearch = new CommerceCatalogSolrSearch(); }   public String SearchPhrase { get { return _solrSearch.SearchPhrase; } set { _solrSearch.SearchPhrase = value; } }   public int PageIndex { get { return _solrSearch.PageIndex; } set { _solrSearch.PageIndex = value; } }   public int PageSize { get { return _solrSearch.PageSize; } set { _solrSearch.PageSize = value; } }   public Dictionary<String,String> FacetQueries { get { return _solrSearch.FacetQueries; } set { _solrSearch.FacetQueries = value; } }   public String[] Facets { get { return _solrSearch.Facets.ToArray(); } set { _solrSearch.Facets = value; } } public override CommerceSearchCriteria ToSearchCriteria() { return _solrSearch; } }  Once you have these two classes in place you can now safely cast the CommerceOperation you receive as an argument of the overidden ExecuteQuery method in the SequenceComponent to the CommerceCatalogSolrSearch operation you have just created, e.g. public CommerceCatalogSolrSearch TryGetSearchCriteria(CommerceOperation operation) { var searchCriteria = operation as CommerceQueryOperation; if (searchCriteria == null) throw new Exception("No search criteria present");   var local = (CommerceCatalogSolrSearch) searchCriteria.SearchCriteria; if (local == null) throw new Exception("Unexpected Search Criteria in Operation");   return local; }  Now you have all of your search parameters present, you can go off an call the external search platform API. You will of-course get proprietry objects returned, so the next step in the process is to convert the results being returned back into CommerceEntities. You do this via another extensibility point within the Commerce Server API called translatators. Translators are another separate class, this time derived inheriting the interface Microsoft.Commerce.Providers.Translators.IToCommerceEntityTranslator . As you can imaginge this interface is specific for the conversion of the object TO a CommerceEntity, you will need to implement a separate interface if you also need to go in the opposite direction. If you implement the required method for the interace you will get a single translate method which has a source onkect, destination CommerceEntity, and a collection of properties as arguments. For simplicity sake in this example I have hard-coded the mappings, however best practice would dictate you map the objects using your metadatadefintions.xml file . Once complete your translator would look something like the following: public class SolrEntityTranslator : IToCommerceEntityTranslator { #region IToCommerceEntityTranslator Members   public void Translate(object source, CommerceEntity destinationCommerceEntity, CommercePropertyCollection propertiesToReturn) { if (source.GetType().Equals(typeof (SearchProduct))) { var searchResult = (SearchProduct) source;   destinationCommerceEntity.Id = searchResult.ProductId; destinationCommerceEntity.SetPropertyValue("DisplayName", searchResult.Title); destinationCommerceEntity.ModelName = "Product";   } }  Once you have a translator in place you can then safely map the results of your search platform into Commerce Entities and attach them on to the CommerceResponse object in a fashion similar to this: foreach (SearchProduct result in matchingProducts) { var destinationEntity = new CommerceEntity(_returnModelName);   Translator.ToCommerceEntity(result, destinationEntity, _queryOperation.Model.Properties); response.CommerceEntities.Add(destinationEntity); }  In SOLR I actually have two objects being returned – a product, and a collection of facets so I have an additional translator for facet (which maps to a custom facet CommerceEntity) and my facet response from SOLR is passed into the Translator helper class seperatley. When all of this is pieced together you have sucessfully completed the extensiblity point coding. You would have created a new OperationSequanceComponent, a custom SearchCritiera object and message builder class, and translators to convert the objects into Commerce Entities. Now you simply need to configure them, and can start calling them in your code. Make sure you sign you assembly, compile it and identiy its signature. Next you need to put this a reference of your new assembly into the Channel.Config configuration file replacing that of the existing SQL Full Text component: You will also need to add your translators to the Translators node of your Channel.Config too: Lastly add any custom CommerceEntities you have developed to your MetaDataDefintions.xml file. Your configuration is now complete, and you should now be able to happily make a call to the Commerce Foundation API, which will act as a proxy to your third party search platform and return back CommerceEntities of your search results. If you require data to be enriched, or logged, or any other logic applied then simply add further sequence components into the OperationSequence (obviously keeping the search response first) to the node of your Channel.Config file. Now to call your code you simply request it as per any other CommerceQuery operation, but taking into account you may be receiving multiple types of CommerceEntity returned: public KeyValuePair<FacetCollection ,List<Product>> DoFacetedProductQuerySearch(string searchPhrase, string orderKey, string sortOrder, int recordIndex, int recordsPerPage, Dictionary<string, string> facetQueries, out int totalItemCount) { var products = new List<Product>(); var query = new CommerceQuery<CatalogEntity, CommerceCatalogSolrSearchBuilder>();   query.SearchCriteria.PageIndex = recordIndex; query.SearchCriteria.PageSize = recordsPerPage; query.SearchCriteria.SearchPhrase = searchPhrase; query.SearchCriteria.FacetQueries = facetQueries;     totalItemCount = 0; CommerceResponse response = SiteContext.ProcessRequest(query.ToRequest()); var queryResponse = response.OperationResponses[0] as CommerceQueryOperationResponse;   // No results. Return the empty list if (queryResponse != null && queryResponse.CommerceEntities.Count == 0) return new KeyValuePair<FacetCollection, List<Product>>();   totalItemCount = (int)queryResponse.TotalItemCount;   // Prepare a multi-operation to retrieve the product variants var multiOperation = new CommerceMultiOperation();     //Add products to results foreach (Product product in queryResponse.CommerceEntities.Where(x => x.ModelName == "Product")) { var productQuery = new CommerceQuery<Product>(Product.ModelNameDefinition); productQuery.SearchCriteria.Model.Id = product.Id; productQuery.SearchCriteria.Model.CatalogId = product.CatalogId;   var variantQuery = new CommerceQueryRelatedItem<Variant>(Product.RelationshipName.Variants);   productQuery.RelatedOperations.Add(variantQuery);   multiOperation.Add(productQuery); }   CommerceResponse variantsResponse = SiteContext.ProcessRequest(multiOperation.ToRequest()); foreach (CommerceQueryOperationResponse queryOpResponse in variantsResponse.OperationResponses) { if (queryOpResponse.CommerceEntities.Count() > 0) products.Add(queryOpResponse.CommerceEntities[0]); }   //Get facet collection FacetCollection facetCollection = queryResponse.CommerceEntities.Where(x => x.ModelName == "FacetCollection").FirstOrDefault();     return new KeyValuePair<FacetCollection, List<Product>>(facetCollection, products); }    ..And that is it – simply a few classes and some configuration will allow you to extend the Commerce Server query operations to call a third party search platform, whilst still maintaing a unifed API in the remainder of your code. This logic stands for any extensibility within CommerceServer, which requires excution in a serial fashioon such as call to LOB systems or web service to validate or enrich data. Feel free to use this example on other applications, and if you have any questions please feel free to e-mail and I'll help out where I can!

  • Metro Walkthrough: Creating a Task List with a ListView and IndexedDB

    - by Stephen.Walther
    The goal of this blog entry is to describe how you can work with data in a Metro style application written with JavaScript. In particular, we create a super simple Task List application which enables you to create and delete tasks. Here’s a video which demonstrates how the Task List application works: In order to build this application, I had to take advantage of several features of the WinJS library and technologies including: IndexedDB – The Task List application stores data in an IndexedDB database. HTML5 Form Validation – The Task List application uses HTML5 validation to ensure that a required field has a value. ListView Control – The Task List application displays the tasks retrieved from the IndexedDB database in a WinJS ListView control. Creating the IndexedDB Database The Task List application stores all of its data in an IndexedDB database named TasksDB. This database is opened/created with the following code: var db; var req = window.msIndexedDB.open("TasksDB", 1); req.onerror = function () { console.log("Could not open database"); }; req.onupgradeneeded = function (evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement:true }); }; The msIndexedDB.open() method accepts two parameters: the name of the database to open and the version of the database to open. If a database with a matching version already exists, then calling the msIndexedDB.open() method opens a connection to the existing database. If the database does not exist then the upgradeneeded event is raised. You handle the upgradeneeded event to create a new database. In the code above, the upgradeneeded event handler creates an object store named “tasks” (An object store roughly corresponds to a database table). When you add items to the tasks object store then each item gets an id property with an auto-incremented value automatically. The code above also includes an error event handler. If the IndexedDB database cannot be opened or created, for whatever reason, then an error message is written to the Visual Studio JavaScript Console window. Displaying a List of Tasks The TaskList application retrieves its list of tasks from the tasks object store, which we created above, and displays the list of tasks in a ListView control. Here is how the ListView control is declared: <div id="tasksListView" data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource: TaskList.tasks.dataSource, itemTemplate: select('#taskTemplate'), tapBehavior: 'toggleSelect', selectionMode: 'multi', layout: { type: WinJS.UI.ListLayout } }"> </div> The ListView control is bound to the TaskList.tasks.dataSource data source. The TaskList.tasks.dataSource is created with the following code: // Create the data source var tasks = new WinJS.Binding.List(); // Open the database var db; var req = window.msIndexedDB.open("TasksDB", 1); req.onerror = function () { console.log("Could not open database"); }; req.onupgradeneeded = function (evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement:true }); }; // Load the data source with data from the database req.onsuccess = function () { db = req.result; var tran = db.transaction("tasks"); tran.objectStore("tasks").openCursor().onsuccess = function(event) { var cursor = event.target.result; if (cursor) { tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, cursor.value); cursor.continue(); }; }; }; // Expose the data source and functions WinJS.Namespace.define("TaskList", { tasks: tasks }); Notice the success event handler. This handler is called when a database is successfully opened/created. In the code above, all of the items from the tasks object store are retrieved into a cursor and added to a WinJS.Binding.List object named tasks. Because the ListView control is bound to the WinJS.Binding.List object, copying the tasks from the object store into the WinJS.Binding.List object causes the tasks to appear in the ListView: Adding a New Task You add a new task in the Task List application by entering the title of a new task into an HTML form and clicking the Add button. Here’s the markup for creating the form: <form id="addTaskForm"> <input id="newTaskTitle" title="New Task" required /> <button>Add</button> </form> Notice that the INPUT element includes a required attribute. In a Metro application, you can take advantage of HTML5 Validation to validate form fields. If you don’t enter a value for the newTaskTitle field then the following validation error message is displayed: For a brief introduction to HTML5 validation, see my previous blog entry: http://stephenwalther.com/blog/archive/2012/03/13/html5-form-validation.aspx When you click the Add button, the form is submitted and the form submit event is raised. The following code is executed in the default.js file: // Handle Add Task document.getElementById("addTaskForm").addEventListener("submit", function (evt) { evt.preventDefault(); var newTaskTitle = document.getElementById("newTaskTitle"); TaskList.addTask({ title: newTaskTitle.value }); newTaskTitle.value = ""; }); The code above retrieves the title of the new task and calls the addTask() method in the tasks.js file. Here’s the code for the addTask() method which is responsible for actually adding the new task to the IndexedDB database: // Add a new task function addTask(taskToAdd) { var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", "readwrite"); var addRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").add(taskToAdd); addRequest.onsuccess = function (evt) { taskToAdd.id = evt.target.result; tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, taskToAdd); } } The code above does two things. First, it adds the new task to the tasks object store in the IndexedDB database. Second, it adds the new task to the data source bound to the ListView. The dataSource.insertAtEnd() method is called to add the new task to the data source so the new task will appear in the ListView (with a nice little animation). Deleting Existing Tasks The Task List application enables you to select one or more tasks by clicking or tapping on one or more tasks in the ListView. When you click the Delete button, the selected tasks are removed from both the IndexedDB database and the ListView. For example, in the following screenshot, two tasks are selected. The selected tasks appear with a teal background and a checkmark: When you click the Delete button, the following code in the default.js file is executed: // Handle Delete Tasks document.getElementById("btnDeleteTasks").addEventListener("click", function (evt) { tasksListView.winControl.selection.getItems().then(function(items) { items.forEach(function (item) { TaskList.deleteTask(item); }); }); }); The selected tasks are retrieved with the TaskList selection.getItem() method. In the code above, the deleteTask() method is called for each of the selected tasks. Here’s the code for the deleteTask() method: // Delete an existing task function deleteTask(listViewItem) { // Database key != ListView key var dbKey = listViewItem.data.id; var listViewKey = listViewItem.key; // Remove item from db and, if success, remove item from ListView var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", “readwrite”); var deleteRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").delete(dbKey); deleteRequest.onsuccess = function () { tasks.dataSource.remove(listViewKey); } } This code does two things: it deletes the existing task from the database and removes the existing task from the ListView. In both cases, the right task is removed by using the key associated with the task. However, the task key is different in the case of the database and in the case of the ListView. In the case of the database, the task key is the value of the task id property. In the case of the ListView, on the other hand, the task key is auto-generated by the ListView. When the task is removed from the ListView, an animation is used to collapse the tasks which appear above and below the task which was removed. The Complete Code Above, I did a lot of jumping around between different files in the application and I left out sections of code. For the sake of completeness, I want to include the entire code here: the default.html, default.js, and tasks.js files. Here are the contents of the default.html file. This file contains the UI for the Task List application: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Task List</title> <!-- WinJS references --> <link href="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/css/ui-dark.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/base.js"></script> <script src="//Microsoft.WinJS.0.6/js/ui.js"></script> <!-- TaskList references --> <link href="/css/default.css" rel="stylesheet"> <script src="/js/default.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/tasks.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> body { font-size: x-large; } form { display: inline; } #appContainer { margin: 20px; width: 600px; } .win-container { padding: 10px; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <!-- Templates --> <div id="taskTemplate" data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template"> <div> <span data-win-bind="innerText:title"></span> </div> </div> <h1>Super Task List</h1> <div id="appContainer"> <form id="addTaskForm"> <input id="newTaskTitle" title="New Task" required /> <button>Add</button> </form> <button id="btnDeleteTasks">Delete</button> <div id="tasksListView" data-win-control="WinJS.UI.ListView" data-win-options="{ itemDataSource: TaskList.tasks.dataSource, itemTemplate: select('#taskTemplate'), tapBehavior: 'toggleSelect', selectionMode: 'multi', layout: { type: WinJS.UI.ListLayout } }"> </div> </div> </div> </body> </html> Here is the code for the default.js file. This code wires up the Add Task form and Delete button: (function () { "use strict"; var app = WinJS.Application; app.onactivated = function (eventObject) { if (eventObject.detail.kind === Windows.ApplicationModel.Activation.ActivationKind.launch) { WinJS.UI.processAll().then(function () { // Get reference to Tasks ListView var tasksListView = document.getElementById("tasksListView"); // Handle Add Task document.getElementById("addTaskForm").addEventListener("submit", function (evt) { evt.preventDefault(); var newTaskTitle = document.getElementById("newTaskTitle"); TaskList.addTask({ title: newTaskTitle.value }); newTaskTitle.value = ""; }); // Handle Delete Tasks document.getElementById("btnDeleteTasks").addEventListener("click", function (evt) { tasksListView.winControl.selection.getItems().then(function(items) { items.forEach(function (item) { TaskList.deleteTask(item); }); }); }); }); } }; app.start(); })(); Finally, here is the tasks.js file. This file contains all of the code for opening, creating, and interacting with IndexedDB: (function () { "use strict"; // Create the data source var tasks = new WinJS.Binding.List(); // Open the database var db; var req = window.msIndexedDB.open("TasksDB", 1); req.onerror = function () { console.log("Could not open database"); }; req.onupgradeneeded = function (evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement:true }); }; // Load the data source with data from the database req.onsuccess = function () { db = req.result; var tran = db.transaction("tasks"); tran.objectStore("tasks").openCursor().onsuccess = function(event) { var cursor = event.target.result; if (cursor) { tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, cursor.value); cursor.continue(); }; }; }; // Add a new task function addTask(taskToAdd) { var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", "readwrite"); var addRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").add(taskToAdd); addRequest.onsuccess = function (evt) { taskToAdd.id = evt.target.result; tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, taskToAdd); } } // Delete an existing task function deleteTask(listViewItem) { // Database key != ListView key var dbKey = listViewItem.data.id; var listViewKey = listViewItem.key; // Remove item from db and, if success, remove item from ListView var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", "readwrite"); var deleteRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").delete(dbKey); deleteRequest.onsuccess = function () { tasks.dataSource.remove(listViewKey); } } // Expose the data source and functions WinJS.Namespace.define("TaskList", { tasks: tasks, addTask: addTask, deleteTask: deleteTask }); })(); Summary I wrote this blog entry because I wanted to create a walkthrough of building a simple database-driven application.

The TaskList.tasks.dataSource is created with the following code: // Create the data source var tasks = new WinJS.Binding.List(); // Open the database var db; var req = window.msIndexedDB.open("TasksDB", 1); req.onerror = function () { console.log("Could not open database"); }; req.onupgradeneeded = function (evt) { var newDB = evt.target.result; newDB.createObjectStore("tasks", { keyPath: "id", autoIncrement:true }); }; // Load the data source with data from the database req.onsuccess = function () { db = req.result; var tran = db.transaction("tasks"); tran.objectStore("tasks").openCursor().onsuccess = function(event) { var cursor = event.target.result; tasks.dataSource.beginEdits(); if (cursor) { tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, cursor.value); cursor.continue(); } else { tasks.dataSource.endEdits(); }; }; }; // Expose the data source and functions WinJS.Namespace.define("TaskList", { tasks: tasks }); Notice the success event handler. Here’s the code for the addTask() method which is responsible for actually adding the new task to the IndexedDB database: // Add a new task function addTask(taskToAdd) { var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", IDBTransaction.READ_WRITE); var addRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").add(taskToAdd); addRequest.onsuccess = function (evt) { taskToAdd.id = evt.target.result; tasks.dataSource.insertAtEnd(null, taskToAdd); } } The code above does two things. Here’s the code for the deleteTask() method: // Delete an existing task function deleteTask(listViewItem) { // Database key != ListView key var dbKey = listViewItem.data.id; var listViewKey = listViewItem.key; // Remove item from db and, if success, remove item from ListView var transaction = db.transaction("tasks", IDBTransaction.READ_WRITE); var deleteRequest = transaction.objectStore("tasks").delete(dbKey); deleteRequest.onsuccess = function () { tasks.dataSource.remove(listViewKey); } } This code does two things: it deletes the existing task from the database and removes the existing task from the ListView. In both cases, the right task is removed by using the key associated with the task. However, the task key is different in the case of the database and in the case of the ListView. I just recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit) and a number of my USB devices have stopped working. At least, they don't work for the first 3-5 minutes. I have two mice (one wireless, one wired) and a camera, which seem to take Ubuntu 3-5 minutes to recognize after booting up. Eventually, they do start to work, but it takes ages! lsusb results: (when the mice are working...) $ lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046d:c512 Logitech, Inc. • Advantage Database Server: slow stored procedure performance.

    - by ie
    I have a question about a performance of stored procedures in the ADS. I created a simple database with the following structure: CREATE TABLE MainTable ( Id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(50), Value INTEGER ); CREATE UNIQUE INDEX MainTableName_UIX ON MainTable ( Name ); CREATE TABLE SubTable ( Id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, MainId INTEGER, Name VARCHAR(50), Value INTEGER ); CREATE INDEX SubTableMainId_UIX ON SubTable ( MainId ); CREATE UNIQUE INDEX SubTableName_UIX ON SubTable ( Name ); CREATE PROCEDURE CreateItems ( MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ), SubName VARCHAR ( 20 ), MainValue INTEGER, SubValue INTEGER, MainId INTEGER OUTPUT, SubId INTEGER OUTPUT ) BEGIN DECLARE @MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ); DECLARE @SubName VARCHAR ( 20 ); DECLARE @MainValue INTEGER; DECLARE @SubValue INTEGER; DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; DECLARE @SubId INTEGER; @MainName = (SELECT MainName FROM __input); @SubName = (SELECT SubName FROM __input); @MainValue = (SELECT MainValue FROM __input); @SubValue = (SELECT SubValue FROM __input); @MainId = (SELECT MAX(Id)+1 FROM MainTable); @SubId = (SELECT MAX(Id)+1 FROM SubTable ); INSERT INTO MainTable (Id, Name, Value) VALUES (@MainId, @MainName, @MainValue); INSERT INTO SubTable (Id, Name, MainId, Value) VALUES (@SubId, @SubName, @MainId, @SubValue); INSERT INTO __output SELECT @MainId, @SubId FROM system.iota; END; CREATE PROCEDURE UpdateItems ( MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ), MainValue INTEGER, SubValue INTEGER ) BEGIN DECLARE @MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ); DECLARE @MainValue INTEGER; DECLARE @SubValue INTEGER; DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; @MainName = (SELECT MainName FROM __input); @MainValue = (SELECT MainValue FROM __input); @SubValue = (SELECT SubValue FROM __input); @MainId = (SELECT TOP 1 Id FROM MainTable WHERE Name = @MainName); UPDATE MainTable SET Value = @MainValue WHERE Id = @MainId; UPDATE SubTable SET Value = @SubValue WHERE MainId = @MainId; END; CREATE PROCEDURE SelectItems ( MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ), CalculatedValue INTEGER OUTPUT ) BEGIN DECLARE @MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ); @MainName = (SELECT MainName FROM __input); INSERT INTO __output SELECT m.Value * s.Value FROM MainTable m INNER JOIN SubTable s ON m.Id = s.MainId WHERE m.Name = @MainName; END; CREATE PROCEDURE DeleteItems ( MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ) ) BEGIN DECLARE @MainName VARCHAR ( 20 ); DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; @MainName = (SELECT MainName FROM __input); @MainId = (SELECT TOP 1 Id FROM MainTable WHERE Name = @MainName); DELETE FROM SubTable WHERE MainId = @MainId; DELETE FROM MainTable WHERE Id = @MainId; END; Actually, the problem I had - even so light stored procedures work very-very slow (about 50-150 ms) relatively to plain queries (0-5ms). To test the performance, I created a simple test (in F# using ADS ADO.NET provider): open System; open System.Data; open System.Diagnostics; open Advantage.Data.Provider; let mainName = "main name #"; let subName = "sub name #"; // INSERT let cmdTextScriptInsert = " DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; DECLARE @SubId INTEGER; @MainId = (SELECT MAX(Id)+1 FROM MainTable); @SubId = (SELECT MAX(Id)+1 FROM SubTable ); INSERT INTO MainTable (Id, Name, Value) VALUES (@MainId, :MainName, :MainValue); INSERT INTO SubTable (Id, Name, MainId, Value) VALUES (@SubId, :SubName, @MainId, :SubValue); SELECT @MainId, @SubId FROM system.iota;"; let cmdTextProcedureInsert = "CreateItems"; // UPDATE let cmdTextScriptUpdate = " DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; @MainId = (SELECT TOP 1 Id FROM MainTable WHERE Name = :MainName); UPDATE MainTable SET Value = :MainValue WHERE Id = @MainId; UPDATE SubTable SET Value = :SubValue WHERE MainId = @MainId;"; let cmdTextProcedureUpdate = "UpdateItems"; // SELECT let cmdTextScriptSelect = " SELECT m.Value * s.Value FROM MainTable m INNER JOIN SubTable s ON m.Id = s.MainId WHERE m.Name = :MainName;"; let cmdTextProcedureSelect = "SelectItems"; // DELETE let cmdTextScriptDelete = " DECLARE @MainId INTEGER; @MainId = (SELECT TOP 1 Id FROM MainTable WHERE Name = :MainName); DELETE FROM SubTable WHERE MainId = @MainId; DELETE FROM MainTable WHERE Id = @MainId;"; let cmdTextProcedureDelete = "DeleteItems"; let cnnStr = @"data source=D:\DB\test.add; ServerType=local; user id=adssys; password=***;"; let cnn = new AdsConnection(cnnStr); try cnn.Open(); let cmd = cnn.CreateCommand(); let parametrize ix prms = cmd.Parameters.Clear(); let addParam = function | "MainName" -> cmd.Parameters.Add(":MainName" , mainName + ix.ToString()) |> ignore; | "SubName" -> cmd.Parameters.Add(":SubName" , subName + ix.ToString() ) |> ignore; | "MainValue" -> cmd.Parameters.Add(":MainValue", ix * 3 ) |> ignore; | "SubValue" -> cmd.Parameters.Add(":SubValue" , ix * 7 ) |> ignore; | _ -> () prms |> List.iter addParam; let runTest testData = let (cmdType, cmdName, cmdText, cmdParams) = testData; let toPrefix cmdType cmdName = let prefix = match cmdType with | CommandType.StoredProcedure -> "Procedure-" | CommandType.Text -> "Script -" | _ -> "Unknown -" in prefix + cmdName; let stopWatch = new Stopwatch(); let runStep ix prms = parametrize ix prms; stopWatch.Start(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery() |> ignore; stopWatch.Stop(); cmd.CommandText <- cmdText; cmd.CommandType <- cmdType; let startId = 1500; let count = 10; for id in startId .. startId+count do runStep id cmdParams; let elapsed = stopWatch.Elapsed; Console.WriteLine("Test '{0}' - total: {1}; per call: {2}ms", toPrefix cmdType cmdName, elapsed, Convert.ToInt32(elapsed.TotalMilliseconds)/count); let lst = [ (CommandType.Text, "Insert", cmdTextScriptInsert, ["MainName"; "SubName"; "MainValue"; "SubValue"]); (CommandType.Text, "Update", cmdTextScriptUpdate, ["MainName"; "MainValue"; "SubValue"]); (CommandType.Text, "Select", cmdTextScriptSelect, ["MainName"]); (CommandType.Text, "Delete", cmdTextScriptDelete, ["MainName"]) (CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Insert", cmdTextProcedureInsert, ["MainName"; "SubName"; "MainValue"; "SubValue"]); (CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Update", cmdTextProcedureUpdate, ["MainName"; "MainValue"; "SubValue"]); (CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Select", cmdTextProcedureSelect, ["MainName"]); (CommandType.StoredProcedure, "Delete", cmdTextProcedureDelete, ["MainName"])]; lst |> List.iter runTest; finally cnn.Close(); And I'm getting the following results: Test 'Script -Insert' - total: 00:00:00.0292841; per call: 2ms Test 'Script -Update' - total: 00:00:00.0056296; per call: 0ms Test 'Script -Select' - total: 00:00:00.0051738; per call: 0ms Test 'Script -Delete' - total: 00:00:00.0059258; per call: 0ms Test 'Procedure-Insert' - total: 00:00:01.2567146; per call: 125ms Test 'Procedure-Update' - total: 00:00:00.7442440; per call: 74ms Test 'Procedure-Select' - total: 00:00:00.5120446; per call: 51ms Test 'Procedure-Delete' - total: 00:00:01.0619165; per call: 106ms The situation with the remote server is much better, but still a great gap between plaqin queries and stored procedures: Test 'Script -Insert' - total: 00:00:00.0709299; per call: 7ms Test 'Script -Update' - total: 00:00:00.0161777; per call: 1ms Test 'Script -Select' - total: 00:00:00.0258113; per call: 2ms Test 'Script -Delete' - total: 00:00:00.0166242; per call: 1ms Test 'Procedure-Insert' - total: 00:00:00.5116138; per call: 51ms Test 'Procedure-Update' - total: 00:00:00.3802251; per call: 38ms Test 'Procedure-Select' - total: 00:00:00.1241245; per call: 12ms Test 'Procedure-Delete' - total: 00:00:00.4336334; per call: 43ms Is it any chance to improve the SP performance? • Pass data from one form to another on a seperate page

    - by Micanio
    I am building a price/distance calculator with Google Maps API and am trying to pass the info from the calculator to a booking form on a separate page. My first form has 2 submit buttons - one to make the calculation, and one to submit the relevant data to the booking form. I'm stuck trying to make the 2nd button work. Once the API calculation has been made, I get 4 values - From, To, Cost, Distance. I am trying to pass the From, To and Cost values into my booking form by clicking the second button. But I can;t seem to get it to work. I've tried POST and GET but I think I may have been doing something wrong with both. Any help is appreciated. Code for API form: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://maps.google.com/maps?file=api&amp;v=2&amp;key=ABQIAAAAwCUxKrPl8_9WadET5dc4KxTqOwVK5HCwTKtW27PjzpqojXnJORQ2kUsdCksByD4hzcGXiOxvn6C4cw&sensor=true"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var geocoder = null; var location1 = null; var location2 = null; var gDir = null; var directions = null; var total = 0; function roundNumber(num, dec) { var result = Math.floor(num*Math.pow(10 ,dec))/Math.pow(10,dec); return result; } function from(form) { address1=form.start.options[form.start.selectedIndex].value form.address1.value=address1 form.address1.focus() } function to(form) { address2=form.end.options[form.end.selectedIndex].value form.address2.value=address2 form.address2.focus() } function initialize() { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(54.019066,-1.381531),9); map.setMapType(G_NORMAL_MAP); geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); gDir = new GDirections(map); GEvent.addListener(gDir, "load", function() { var drivingDistanceMiles = gDir.getDistance().meters / 1609.344; var drivingDistanceKilometers = gDir.getDistance().meters / 1000; var miles = drivingDistanceMiles.toFixed(0); //var cost = (((miles - 1) * 1.9) + 3.6).toFixed(2); var meters = gDir.getDistance().meters.toFixed(1); if(miles < 70){ var cost = miles *1.75; } if(miles >70){ var cost = miles *1.2; } document.getElementById('from').innerHTML = '<strong>From: </strong>' + location1.address; document.getElementById('to').innerHTML = '<strong>To: </strong>' + location2.address; document.getElementById('cost').innerHTML = '<span class="fare"><strong>Estimated Taxi FARE:</strong>' + ' £' + cost.toFixed(2) + '</span>'; document.getElementById('miles').innerHTML = '<strong>Distance: </strong>' + miles + ' Miles'; }); } function showLocation() // start of possible values for address not recognized on google search // values for address1 { if (document.forms[0].address1.value == "heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "heathrow airport" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "Heathrow Airport" || document.forms[0].address1.value == "London Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address1.value =="london heathrow" ) { (document.forms[0].address1.value = "Heathrow Airport"); } if (document.forms[0].address2.value == "heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "heathrow airport" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "Heathrow Airport" || document.forms[0].address2.value == "London Heathrow" || document.forms[0].address2.value =="london heathrow" ) { (document.forms[0].address2.value = "Heathrow Airport"); } geocoder.getLocations(document.forms[0].address1.value + document.forms[0].uk.value || document.forms[0].start.value + document.forms[0].uk.value, function (response) { if (!response || response.Status.code != 200) { alert("Sorry, we were unable to find the first address"); } else { location1 = {lat: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[1], lon: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[0], address: response.Placemark[0].address}; geocoder.getLocations(document.forms[0].address2.value + document.forms[0].uk.value, function (response) { if (!response || response.Status.code != 200) { alert("Sorry, we were unable to find the second address"); } else { location2 = {lat: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[1], lon: response.Placemark[0].Point.coordinates[0], address: response.Placemark[0].address}; gDir.load('from: ' + location1.address + ' to: ' + location2.address); } }); } }); } </script> <style> #quote { font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; } </style> </head> <body style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" onUnload="GUnload()" onLoad="initialize()"> <div id="sidebar"> <!--MAPS--> <div id="calc_top"></div> <div id="calc_body"> <div id="calc_inside"> <span style="font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold;">Get A Quote Now</span> <p class="disclaimer">Fares can be calculated using either Area, Exact Address or Postcode, when entering address please include both road name and area i.e. <em>Harrogate Road, Ripon</em>.
