  • How can I migrate all keyboard shortcuts from one mac to another?

    I have a lot of custom keyboard shortcuts and will be migration Macs. I tested Migration Assistant and it did not seem to get these. I read somewhere that they are stored in the individual application's plist files in the ~/Library/Application Support folder but even after copying a few of these folders over the shortcuts do not seem to follow. How can I get all of the keyboard shortcuts migrated to a new mac?

  • How does /burnmemory=XXX boot.ini switch work?

    I know what the /burnmemory switch does on Windows, but I'd like to understand what Windows is doing under the hood to support it. It's described on msdn as the "amount of memory, in megabytes, that Windows cannot use". Does this mean simply that the kernel does not allow user virtual memory mapping into this area? How is this accomplished in the kernel, and are there other restrictions that the kernel will make when burnmemory is set?

    If I try to install the Windows 8 RTM Final (from MSDN) on my Macbook Air Mid 2011 using Boot Camp, I get this error: Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu I already formatted the disk with NTFS, removed it, reformatted and more... Does anyone know to resolve this error?   • Learn to use both sides of the keyboard

    I'd like to force myself to use the correct (right side or left side) Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys depending on what letter I'm typing. For instance I'd like to use the right Shift key when typing 'A' and the left Shift key when typing 'P'. I find myself using only the left side a lot and I'm looking for a way to set the mappings on my machine so that it only responds to correct pairings. I'm running Fedora, but any Linux distro support would be an acceptable answer.

Futher: "The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014 after Microsoft terminated support of Windows XP" My Questions: What are the risks for still using truecrypt? Will there be any fork of truecrypt? Is Windows "BitLocker" trustable? Is the reason why the development stopped reliable? Which independent alternatives are there for Linux, MacOS and Windows?

    ive got a printer in my Active directory but its standard set to double sided printing but the problem is the printer doesnt support that so you have to switch it manualy Ive found the setting for the user but it is automatically set to the original value if you reboot Where can i find the setting in the active directory ? the printer is a :HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series PCL 6 (its possible that there is a script for this but i dont know where to look)

    I just inherited this a single linux box running pop/smtp for a small office (25 users). I'm new to Linux. I think the box is running Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 as the server (this is bannered accross the screen occassionally) but not sure of the release/kernal/build etc. I need to be certain of both the server os and email linux versions in order to perform research, admin and support.     Does Windows 8 support upgrading from a clean install. For example, buying the upgrade key and entering it on a clear install? Or is it functionally necissary to have the version you are upgrading from installed on the computer. The former was the case with Windows 7, but I recal Windows 2000 needed the an installed copy before an update would proceed. I currently have a linux setup and I have the liceanse for Windows 7, but I don't want to have to downoad two 4 GB isos.

However, I am able to read Wikipedia without having this feature enabled. Is this normal or is this an anomaly with my Win XP SP1 CD?

    I've tried converting a PEM-encoded key to DER format, and it appears the password is stripped regardless of the -passout argument. Example: openssl rsa -in tmp.pem -outform DER -out tmp.der -passin pass:foo -passout pass:bar -des3 The resulting key appears no longer password-protected, so I am assuming that DER format does not support a password - is that correct? What alternative way is there to store this in a compact, binary form, and keep the password-protection?

I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers). What I would like to find is a file manager that could support tags, so instead of hierachical folders, i could find\view files according to their tags...

    Consider that there are two server load balancers working in the tcp proxy mode (e.g., for L7 load balancing). Is it possible to synchronize their states in real time so that they can be a backup for each other? in case that one is down, the other still has all necessary states to uninterruptedly support all existing TCP connections.     I will be buying a 2TB hard drive soon, and would like to use it as media storage. I would like to be able to read/write from both Windows (version 7, 64bit) and Ubuntu Linux, and I need support for files greater than 4GB in size (so I think this rules out FAT32). I'm using IFS drives at the moment to access my linux ext4 partitions, and I find it unstable. Does this mean NTFS? Is there something else I'm missing?
