  • Projects to learn Python

    I know this isn't a question about a specific snippet of code or anything, but here goes - I've been messing around with the idea of learning Python since I'm pretty bored with PHP (and web development in general), but I can't think of any projects to help me learn. I've already worked through some of Project Euler with Python, but it's getting old. I know the basics, and I want to write something more fun that will introduce me to new things in Python. Is there a cliche beginner project for Python? (for example, PHP's would be a blog or something similiar) Are there any common Python projects for newcomers, or any uncommon ones that you'd suggest? Any ideas would help.

  • Xcode/Interface Builder Mac App Development

    Well i want from the drop down menu(Menu Item List) one item to be working as an link, to open an url/website in safari - thats it. When this is so simple, why no one come up with a clue here - I tried many different ways in Xcode, with Apple Xcode Samples... i think i need an AppDelegate.m, drag or link some parts, get actions... i failed to get it going somewhere - now i'm lost. Any advice/help/link/tip would be much appreciate to solve this "simple" issue... Using Xcode/Interface Builder 3.2.6 - Please help or i go totally mad, insane and i will crash my f...ing mac right now - Thanks

    I'm setting up some goals in Google Analytics and could use a little regex help. Lets say I have 4 URLs http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah2&selector=style&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/search.cfm?metric=blah3&selector=size&value=1 http://www.anydotcom.com/test/details.cfm?metric=blah&selector=size&value=1 I want to create an expression that will identify any URL that contains the string selector=size but does NOT contain details.cfm I know that to find a string that does NOT contain another string I can use this expression: (^((?!details.cfm).)*$) But, I'm not sure how to add in the selector=size portion. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Visual Studio 2008 error while debugging an app with "uiAccess=true" in the manifest

    I have a C# WinForms application that has "uiAccess" set to "True" in it's manifest file. When I try to start/debug it in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 under Windows 7 x64 (RTM) I get this error: Running an Accessibility application requires following the steps described in Help. The help button is a broken link, and clicking ok just closes the application. It is digitally signed, and I can start it just fine in Windows Explorer. Here is the same bug in MS Connect, but unfortunately it's closed: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=384183 Question: Can anyone else using Vista/Win7 x64 (with UAC enabled) confirm that they experience the same problem? Has anyone seen this problem before and have any idea how to work around it?

  • Multiple conditions with will_paginate

    I am using will_paginate for pagination but I can't seem to use more than one condition at a time. For example, if I want to have a sql query that ends in "Where office_id = 5", then it's pretty straight forward, I can do that. but what if I want to do "Where office_id = 5 AND primary_first = 'Mark'"? I can't do that. I have no idea how to enter multiple conditions. Can you help?? Below is an example of my code: def self.search(search, page, office_id) paginate :per_page => 5, :page => page, :conditions => ['office_id', "%#{office_id}"], # + ' and primary_first like ?', "%#{params[:search]}%"], #:conditions => ['primary_first', "%#{search}%"], :order => 'created_at' end Thank you for your help!

    I am using jdbc to connect to a postgresql database in a java application (actually the app is written in Groovy). I have postgresql set up to use the 'trust' authentication method. Is it possible to open a jdbc connection without specifying a password? When I try to use the normal constructor with a blank password, it fails with Exception in thread "Thread-2" org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "myuser" Even though, from the command line, this works fine psql -U myuser mydatabase Welcome to psql 8.3.5, the PostgreSQL interactive terminal.     i was looking how to inject a dll into a program (exe, or dll, etc). i have been googleing dll injecting but i have not found anything that is very helpful :(. i have not worked with dlls very much so im not sure on what to do, i really could use some help on this. uhh the only thing i have really found is setwindowshookex but i can't find any examples for it and i don't how to use it. any questions just ask and i'll try to help. I have a Nib with a view that has a class identity set to TestView In my view controller, I use the following code: CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 320,240); TestView *myTest = [[TestView alloc] initWithFrame:myRect]; [self.view addSubview:myTest]; I have a NSLog in the TestView class's initWithFrame that fires when the above code is executed, but the view doesn't appear in the view controllers view.     I'm just need some help about server design. I need help in the design of the structure of the server application. Need to develop a network of servers that interact with each other. If a server receives a request and the server can not comply it, then the request is sent to another server and the result will be refunded to the sender. Information on all servers is different, and sender did not know where the result is placed in. The first thing that comes to mind is to use the model(scheme) of the DNS. But any interesting detailed articles on this subject I have not found. Any ideas?

    Hi friends, I have a button, while clicking the button i just produce a div containing some checkbox. If the user select the required checkbox, it will produce a iframe according to the value of the checkbox and the div will disappear. Its placed immediately below the button. Up to this its working fine. If the user again click the button, the droping div is comes behind the frame. Please help me to make it visible above the frame.
