  i have some parsed data in two files. i need to send these to a webserver of a website. i also need to be logged into the webserver first. i am new to this web interaction thing. i just need to know how might i go about doing this. i am learning the libcurl library so i guess in can send standard HTTP POST messages. i will make a simple webserver to test it myself. can anyone tell me what kind of interaction is needed. by that i mean how do i send the username and password information, know that i am logged in and then be send the files. may be some examples of Form Posts which i believe is what i shud be doing right now.

• What is the performance impact of tracing in C# and ASP.NET?

  I found this in some production login code I was looking at recently... HttpContext.Current.Trace.Write(query + ": " + username + ", " + password)); ...where query is a short SQL query to grab matching users. Does this have any sort of performance impact? I assume its very small. Also, what is the purpose of this exact type of trace, using the HTTP Context? Where does this data get traced to? Thanks in advance!

• jQuery default/placeholder input text and problems with saved information

  Hey Guys, I'm new to jQuery and have an annoying problem. I have some login fields that are filled with default text when the field is empty and then removed when clicked. • asp.net forms authentication timing out after 1 minute

  I'm using ASP.NET MVC 3 with the Authorize attribute, but it keeps kicking me to the logon page after 1 minute, but even though my expiration is set to a very high value, it times out quickly. I check the cookie in my browser and its still there and not set to expire until about a month later, and it's set to be persistent, so I'm not sure why it keeps booting me.   Hello, I am not a SQL Expert. I’m trying to elegantly solve a query problem that others have had to have had. Surprisingly, Google is not returning anything that is helping. Basically, my application has a “search” box. This search field will allow a user to search for customers in the system. I have a table called “Customer” in my SQL Server 2008 database. This table is defined as follows: Customer UserName (nvarchar) FirstName (nvarchar) LastName (nvarchar) As you can imagine, my users will enter queries of varying cases and probably mis-spell the customer’s names regularly. How do I query my customer table and return the 25 results that are closest to their query? I have no idea how to do this ranking and consider the three fields listed in my table. Thank you!

• Ant deploy WAR file to tomcat server failure

  I am having a little trouble getting my deployment task in ant to function. I have a war file that is generated as part of the build process, and I am now trying to autodeploy that to my test server. In ant I have defined a deployment task as seen below. When I try to run it I get a file not found error on the server in the catalina.out log file. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong that is causing this deploy to not function? I have checked the path, and it is correct and the WAR file exists. • Writing a telnet client

  HI, I have a device that exposes a telnet interface which you can log into using a username and password and then manipulate the working of the device. I have to write a C program that hides the telnet aspect from the client and instead provides an interface for the user to control the device. What would be a good way to proceed. I tried writing a simple socket program but it stops at the login prompt. My guess is that i am not following the TCP protocol. Has anyone attempted this, is there an opensource library out there to do this? Thanks

• Why acegi (Spring Security) converts password to uppercase before comparing ?

  One of my colleague in QA team reported a bug to me, the bug said that can't change password to lowercase, otherwise login is rejected,using number or uppercase is all fine. The login system was implemented using acegi 1.0 (now called Spring Security). This was a very strange bug,changing password is done by encrypting the user input string into MD5 string, I implemented this without using anything related acegi, I don't if the is the origin cause of the problem. When the login is rejected, through debugging, I find that, the user input is converted into uppercase by acegi when passing to the acegi comparing logic. At first, I didn't believe this, when I checkout the acegi source and debugging with it, I find it does convert both username and password to uppercase (source code line 121), Can you tell me why it does this? This can cause password encoding mismatch!

  Hi guys, I have deployed successfully a C# windows service on a windows 7 machine. Now, when I try to create a file using this code : FileStream os = new FileStream(String.Format(folderName, fileName), FileMode.Create); I get Access to filepath is denied. In the service Installer I set the following parameters to : this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Account = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceAccount.LocalSystem; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Password = "Pass"; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Username = "Administrator" I added all the possible accounts with Full permissions to the folder where I want to create the file but nothing helped. • How can I get PHP to compile a LaTeX document if it (www-data) can't get access to the required packages?

  I have a PHP script that compiles LaTeX documents with the use of: exec('cd /path/to/doc && /usr/bin/latexmk -pdf filename.tex'); This is working for some of my LaTeX documents but my latest document doesn't compile and a look at the log reveals: !pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ecrm1000): Font ecrm1000 at 600 not found ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! Which I have found is the result of LaTeX not being able to see the required font packages. When I run the same compile command under my username the document compiles as it should. So my question is, how can I get PHP (executing as www-data) to get access to the necessary LaTeX packages? I have tried installing the required package under the www-data account using: sudo -u www-data sudo apt-get install texlive-fonts-recommended but it askes for www-data's password, which I don't believe was set by me and isn't anything I've thrown at it. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 if it's any help.

  Hi, I was wondering if anyone might be able to explain to me why it's taking nearly 30 seconds each time my Java web app sends an email using Gmail's SMTP server? See the following timestamps: 13/04/2010-22:24:27:281 DEBUG test.service.impl.SynchronousEmailService - Before sending mail. 13/04/2010-22:24:52:625 DEBUG test.service.impl.SynchronousEmailService - After sending mail. I'm using spring's JavaMailSender class with the following settings: email.host=smtp.gmail.com [email protected] email.password=mypassword email.port=465 mail.smtp.auth.required=true Note that the mail is getting sent and I'm receiving it fine, there's just this delay which is resulting in a slow experience for the application user. If you know how I can diagnose the problem myself that would be good too :)

  Hi I'm using an application called Logi info. it requires a connection string to my oracle database. the connection works fine but in order to configure the connection to recive ref cursors from the database, I apparently need to add PLSQLRSet=1 to the end of the string. when I do that I recieve an error "invalid connection string" Here is my connection string without plsqlrset=1 Data Source=SID; User Id=username; Password=password; My concern is that PLSQLRSet=1 might be .NET paramater only.   I'm developing an online website (using Django and Mysql). I have a Tests table and User table. I have 50 tests within the table and each user completes them at their own pace. How do I store the status of the tests in my DB? One idea that came to my mind is to create an additional column in User table. That column containing testid's separated by comma or any other delimiter. userid | username | testscompleted 1 john 1, 5, 34 2 tom 1, 10, 23, 25 Another idea was to create a seperate table to store userid and testid.
