  • Problem inserting JavaScript into a CKEditor Instance running inside a jQuery-UI Dialog Box

    Hello Overflowers! Here's what's going on: I'm building an app (using PHP, jQuery, etc), part of which lets users edit various bits of a web page (Header, Footer, Main Content, Sidebar) using CKEditor. It's set up so that each editable bit has an "Edit Content" button in the upper right that, on click, launches an instance of CKEditor inside a jQuery-UI Dialog box. After the user is done editing, they can click an 'Update Changes' button that passes the edited content back off to the main page and closes the Dialog/CKeditor. It's all working magnificently, save for one thing. If someone inserts any JavaScript code, wrapped in 'script' tags, using either the Insert HTML Plugin for CKEditor or by going to 'Source' in CKEditor and placing the code in the source, everything seems okay until they click the 'Update Changes' button. The JavaScript appears to be inserting properly, but when 'Update Changes' is clicked, instead of the Dialog closing and passing the script back into the div where it belongs, what I get instead is an all-white screen with just the output of the JavaScript. For example, a simple 'Hello World' script results in a white screen with the string 'Hello World' in the upper left corner; for more intricate scripts, like an API call to, say Aweber, that generates a newsletter signup form, I get an all-white screen with the resulting form from the Aweber API call perfectly rendered in the middle of the screen. One of the most confusing parts is that, on these pages, if I click 'View Source', I get absolutely nothing. Blank emptiness.   • is there a place to find other jquery ui themes

    for some reason i don't like any of the themes that are on the jquery ui themeroller page (i am looking for something on a business website and these all look either bleak or too corny). I wanted to see if there were other sites where people have uploaded or voted on other themes to view and download. I know i can tweak my own but first wanted to see if anyone has done this already with a better artistic eye.

  • jQuery .ajax success function not rendering html with jQuery UI elements

    How do I have the html loaded into my div from the .ajax render with jquery? the success function loads the HTML, but those elements do not show up as jQuery UI elements, just the static HTML types.   • Questions on about TDD or unit testing in ASP.NET MVC

    I've been searching on how to do Unit testing and find thats is quite easy, but, what I want to know is, In a asp.net mvc application, what should be REALLY important to test and which methods you guys use? I just can't find a clear answer on about WHAT TO REALLY TEST when programming unit tests. I just don't want to make unecessary tests and loose developement time doing overkill tests.

XCode 3 provides templates for both static libraries and unit tests but I am wondering how they should fit together in a static library project? In my static library project I have created a target for unit testing but expect to also create an executable to kick off the unit tests than run against the classes in the static library. What is the procedure for doing this?

I'm looking for a resource that goes into some depth on MVC, event models, delegates, etc. Something in a similar vein to the POSA series would be excellent.   • Testing your code before releasing to QA

    I have heard developers say that people who write code should not be the ones testing it. I am looking for peoples experience in this situation. Many times I have done my share of development, then released to the QA dept and had the code sent back to me becuase some aspect of the application was broken due to my coding, regardless of how much I had tested it prior to QA release. Does anyone on this board have a process to follow, that enables them to throughly test their code before releasing to QA?

  • jQuery-ui tabs: interference between tabs

    I use the jQuery-ui tabs widget as a navigation. Contents of all tabs are load via ajax. Seems that there is interference between tabs. I mean, for example, if in page1 in tab1, there is an element whose ID is foo, and in page2 in tab2, there is an element with the same ID. And in both page, there is javascript code to manipulate the element with ID foo, then weird things will happen. How to deal with this situation?

    Hi, I am using MVC 2 with Area. To test routing, I am using MvcContrib. So far I've been muddling along with Firebug, but it's quite a bit of effort using that, and I would prefer some form of scriptable tool, both to make it easier for me and to allow an automated regression test. Any recommendations?

I'd be open to any advice or third party libraries (if there are any).   • jquery ui autocomplete does't close options menu if there is no focus when ajax returns

    I'm using jquery ui autocomplete widget with ajax, and on noticed the following problem. Background: In order for the user to be able to focus on the autocomplete and get the options without typing anything, I use the focus event: autoComp.focus(function() { $(this).autocomplete("search", "");} However this produces the following effect: when the user clicks, an ajax request is being sent. While waiting for the response, the user then clicks elsewhere and the autocomplete is blurred. But as soon as the response returns, the options menu pops out, even though the autocomplete has no focus. In order to make it go away the user has to click once inside, and again outside the autocomplete, which is a bit annoying. any ideas how I prevent this? EDIT: I solved this in a very ugly way by building another mediator function that knows the element's ID, and this function calls the ajax function with the ID, which on success check the focus of the element, and returns null if it's not focused. It's pretty ugly and I'm still looking for alternatives. EDIT#2: Tried to do as Wlliam suggested, still doesn't work.. the xhr is undefined when blurring. I dont actually want the email to be sent, I just want to make sure that my code is correct. So I want to be able to check that the email is placed in a queue folder for example. Can anybody recommend a SMTP server which is easy to configure?

  • WCF threading - non-responsive UI

    Hi everyone. I'm trying to configure some WCF stuff. Currently, I have a server which allows remote users to download files, and client. In the server, I use a ServiceHost class. I assume it should be running on a separate thread, however, the server UI (WinForms) becomes locked when someone downloads a file. Is there a way to manage the WCF threading model? Thank you!
