• PHP header redirection does nor reload <iframe> in IE

  When displaying data from DB usually I'm in this situation I'm in page A.php that shows data from DB, user performs some action (like edit/delete etc) and page B.php is loaded to perform the action, once page B performed the action, it redirects browser to page A, page A is auto reloaded during step (3) therefor it shows an updated situation of the data In order to make page B to redirect to page A i use a simple PHP header("Location: " . "A.php", TRUE, 302); This works well in all situations, except when pages A.php is displaied into an <iframe>: in such a case it does not reload (step 4 does not get done). This seems to happen only in IE7 (don't know about IE8), it works perfectly on FF/Safari. And only when using an <iframe>, if page A.php is not in <iframe> it gest refreshed also in IE7. In order to solve this I simply added a couple of headers in page A.php to set it to not be cached: header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate"); // HTTP/1.1 header("Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT"); // Date in the past But I was curious if you migt have exeperienced the same issue too in the past, and if you good give me some advises about this. • asp.net Membership : Extending Role membership?

  Hi there, I am been taking a look at asp.net membership and it seems to provide everything that i need but i need some kind of custom Role functionality. Currently i can add user to a role, great. But i also need to be able to add Permissions to Roles.. i.e. Role: Editor Permissions: Can View Editor Menu, Can Write to Editors Table, Can Delete Entries in Editors Table. Currently it doesn't support this, The idea behind this is to create a admin option in my program to create a role and then assign permissions to a role to say "allow the user to view a certain part of the application", "allow the user to open a menu item" Any ideas how i would implement soemthing like this? I presume a custom ROLE provider but i was wondering if some kind of framework extension existed already without rolling my own? Or anybody knows a good tutorial of how to tackle this issue? I am quite happy with what asp.net SQL provider has created in terms of tables etc... but i think i need to extend this by adding another table called RolesPermissions and then I presume :-) adding some kind of enumeration into the table for each valid permission?? • ASP.NET MVC2 DataAnnotations not catching error

  Can somebody help me to figure out why DataAnnotations will not work with my MVC2 project in VS 2008 SP1? Here's the situation.. I uninstalled VS2008 and MVC1, then reinstalled VS2008 SP1 and .NET 3.5 SP1 and MVC2. Now when I create a clean project as soon as it has to hit the DataAnnotations Dll (e.g. say when I go to Register.aspx it fails at the first "LabelFor" that it encounters. I can overcome this by changing the "Copy Local" property of the dll to True but this then creates a conflict with the same dll in the Tests project. If then I delete the test project and try agan, it runs but does not catch any validation failures. I have gone right back to basics and followed the step by step ScottGu Datavalidation tutorial at : http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2010/01/15/asp-net-mvc-2-model-validation.aspx And at the "Et viola" bit where we usually go "Whoa! cool!" I say "It never caught!". Any Ideas?

• PHP sessions causing Apache to hang indefinitely

  The problem is that every so often a page that writes to a Session will cause apache to hang forever for a particular session. Once this error occurs for one user any further modifications to any session of any user will cause the website to hang for this user. This problem has been my sole focus for days. I have a development VPS running Windows 2003 and default latest version of XAMPP using the standard PHP session handler. The code in question actually runs on two other machines perfectly normally so although my common sense says it’s a web server configuration issue but at this point I am willing to try anything. On further investigation there are no errors in the Apache, PHP or System event log. Resources are abundant and there is no “AJAX shit storm” or more than a couple writes to a session per page. I have also implemented session_write_close() wherever possible to try and help elevate the problem. I have checked the session’s directory which is set to “C:\windows\Temp” and found that once a user enters this hanging phase that the corresponding session file is exclusively locked and the only way to resolve this is to stop Apache and wait a few moments for the files to become unlocked and delete them. I am not wondering if deletion is required. The Sessions themselves only contain 4 bits of information. ShoppingCartID, UserID, UserLevel and Refering URL and are alphanumerical with an occasional slash. My PHP.INI’s session section is configured like this: session.save_handler = files session.save_path = "C:\WINDOWS\Temp" session.use_cookies = 1 session.name = PHPSESSID session.auto_start = 0 session.cookie_lifetime = 0 session.cookie_path = / session.cookie_domain = session.cookie_httponly = session.serialize_handler = php session.gc_probability = 1 session.gc_divisor = 100 session.gc_maxlifetime = 1440 session.bug_compat_42 = 1 session.bug_compat_warn = 1 session.referer_check = session.entropy_length = 0 session.entropy_file = session.cache_limiter = nocache session.cache_expire = 180 session.use_trans_sid = 0 session.hash_function = 0 session.hash_bits_per_character = 4 I have tried everything I can think of and the whole problem is now a blur to me. • Rails 2.3 session

  Hi, I am developing a rails 2.3.2 app. I need to keep session_id for an order record, retrieve it and finally delete the session_id when the order is completed. It worked when I used cookies as session store but it doesn't for active_record store. (I restarted my browser, so no cache issue.) I know rails 2.3 implements lazy session load. I read some info about it but am still confused. Can somebody clarify how I use session_id for such a case? What I am doing is... A user make an order going through several pages. There is no sign-up, neither login. So I keep session_id in the order record so that no other user can access the order. @order = Order.last :conditions = {:id = params[:id], :session_id = session[:session_id] } When the order is finished, I set nil to session_id column. How would you implement such a case in lazy session(and active_record store) environment? Thanks. Sam

  Hello Everybody, The company details page in my system has a user control to show the founders of the company, that user control represents the founders by using a Rad Grid and three buttons for insert/edit/delete founders, the founders grid is being bind by using a WCF service. the insert button calls a javascript method that opens a Rad Window in which the user can insert the data for a new founder my problem is: in the Add Founder Rad Window I shouldn't save the new founder in the database, when I press Add the Rad Grid should be closed and the new founder should be added to the founders Grid's datasource, and then the grid should be bind again the questions is: what is the best way to do that, I don't want to use sessions nor json, I tried to use another wcf service which takes two parameters: reference to the grid and the new founder, and in this wcf service I get the old datasource then add the new founder to it and finally rebind the grid again, but I have faced some problems like how can I send the reference to the grid from javascript method to a WCF service, also if I add more than one founder how can keep track of the new founders and the original datasource if any of you can lead me to an example similar to my case this would be very much appreciated, also any comments and feedback are most welcomed

• How to make Doxygen ignore specific PHP functions, when generating documentation from a purely proce

  I am writing a PHP Library and I am trying out Doxygen to generate the API documentation. My library does not use OOP. All code is procedural. I use lot of helper functions which have an _ (underscore) prefix in their names. They are not part of the publicly exposed API. They are just used internally. Even though they are commented just like the API functions, I don't want them included when giving out the documentation for the API. I want Doxygen to ignore these functions. I can think of two solutions for this, but I am not able to implement either one of them. First is, I can set some configuration in Doxygen to make it ignore specific function name patterns. I went through Doxygen help documentation and searched the web. There seems to be options to ignore file and folder name patterns. But I am not able to find an option to specify a function name pattern and make it ignore those functions. Second is, along with all the other content in the comments above functions, I could add some other keyword or something and make Doxygen ignore those functions. I haven't been able to find out how to do that either. How can I make Doxygen ignore specific PHP functions when generating documentation? Update I searched within Stack Overflow and came across this question. It looked similar to my question. I found out about EXCLUDE_SYMBOLS config option in one of the answers. You can use that to exclude function names too. More importantly, wildcards were supported. So I am able to ignore all my functions with _ as the prefix :) This ridiculous! I should've done more research :| Someone please delete this question or add this answer as an answer.

It works if i click some other button and click this button. What could be causing this issue and how can i solve it?

  I am building an automation test suite which is running on multiple machines, all reporting their status to a postgresql database. We will run a number of automated tests for which we will store the following information: test ID (a GUID) test name test description status (running, done, waiting to be run) progress (%) start time of test end time of test test result latest screenshot of the running test (updated every 30 seconds) The number of tests isn't huge (say a few thousands) and each machine (say, 50 of them) have a service which checks the database and figures out if it's time to start a new automated test on that machine. How should I organize my SQL table to store all the information? Is a single table with a column per attribute the way to go? If in the future I need to add attributes but want to keep compatibility with old database format (ie I may not want to delete and create a new table with more columns), how should I proceed? Should the new attributes just be in a different table? I'm also thinking of replicating the database. In case of failure, I don't mind if the latest screenshots aren't backed up on the slave database. Should I just store the screenshots in its own table to simplify the replication? Thanks!

• Epoll in EPOLLET mode returning 2 EPOLLIN before reading from the socket

  The epoll manpage says that a fd registered with EPOLLET(edge triggered) shouldn't notify twice EPOLLIN if no read has been done. So after an EPOLLIN you need to empty the buffer before epoll_wait being able to return a new EPOLLIN on new data. However I'm experiencing problems with this approach as I'm seeing duplicated EPOLLIN events for untouched fds. • Version control - stubs and mocks

  For the sake of this question, I don't care about the difference between stubs, mocks, dummies, fakes, etc. Let's say I'm working on a project with one other person. I'm working on component A and he is working on component B. They work together, so I stub out B for testing, and he stubs out A. We're working in a DVCS, let's say Git, because that's actually the case here. When it comes time to merge our components together, we need to get the "real" files from my A and his B, but throw away all the fake stuff. During development, it's likely (unless I need to learn how to properly stub things) that the fakes have the same file names and class names as the real thing. So my question is: what is the proper procedure for doing version control on the fakes, and how are the components correctly merged, making sure to grab the real thing and not the fake? I would guess that one way is just do the merge, expect it to say CONFLICT, and then manually delete all the fake code out of the half-merged files. But this sounds tedious and inefficient. Should the fake things not go under VC at all? Should they be ripped out just before merging? Sorry if the answer to this should be obvious or trivial, I'm just looking for a "suggested practice" here.

  Are there any good alternatives to SQLite + FTS3 for python? I'm iterating over a series of text documents, and would like to categorize them according to some text queries. For example, I might want to know if a document mentions the words "rating" or "upgraded" within three words of "buy." The FTS3 syntax for this query is the following: (rating OR upgraded) NEAR/3 buy That's all well and good, but if I use FTS3, this operation seems rather expensive. The process goes something like this: # create an SQLite3 db in memory conn = sqlite3.connect(':memory:') c = conn.cursor() c.execute('CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE fts USING FTS3(content TEXT)') conn.commit() Then, for each document, do something like this: #insert the document text into the fts table, so I can run a query c.execute('insert into fts(content) values (?)', content) conn.commit() # execute my FTS query here, look at the results, etc # remove the document text from the fts table before working on the next document c.execute('delete from fts') conn.commit() This seems rather expensive to me. The other problem I have with SQLite FTS is that it doesn't appear to work with Python 2.5.4. The 'CREATE VIRTUAL TABLE' syntax is unrecognized. This means that I'd have to upgrade to Python 2.6, which means re-testing numerous existing scripts and programs to make sure they work under 2.6. Is there a better way? Perhaps a different library? Something faster? Thank you.

• How to profile Doctrine in Zend Framework

  Good day. I'm using Doctrine as ORM for my Zend Framework project. This is the first time I use it. I've followed the ZendCasts Doctrine chapters, and everything works for me, but I needed to perform some profiling; There is a Doctrine_Connection_Profiler class that should be used to profile the Doctrine Model internal queries, but I've tried to use it without success. I always get a "PDOException: You cannot serialize or unserialize PDOStatement instances" exception when I perform my Unit Tests. Here is a example: $conn = Doctrine_Manager::connection($doctrineConfig['dsn'], $dbconfname); ... if( APPLICATION_ENV != 'production'){ $obj_doctrine_profiler = new Doctrine_Connection_Profiler(); $conn->setListener($obj_doctrine_profiler); } All of my Unit Tests works if I comment/delete the $conn->setListener($obj_doctrine_profiler); line. This code block is located in my Bootstrap.php class; the weird thing is, the web application works just fine even with the mentioned code line. • How to set QNetworkReply properties to get correct NCBI pages?

  I try to get this following url using the downloadURL function: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore/27884304 But the data is not as what we can see through the browser. Now I know it's because that I need to give the correct information such as browser, how can I know what kind of information I need to set, and how can I set it? (By setHeader function??) In VC++, we can use CInternetSession and CHttpConnection Object to get the correct information without setting any other detail information, is there any similar way in Qt or other cross-platform C++ network lib?? (Yes, I need the the cross-platform property.) • Cocoa/Objective-C - Child window with text input without main window becoming inactive

  Hello All, I have a need to spawn a window that will hover just above my main window in a cocoa application. I want this main window to allow the user to enter some text in an input box. All is well until the text input box actually gains focus. The main window becomes "deactivated." This window is borderless and is a slightly custom shape -- its more like a hover card than anything else, I suppose. Basically, I'd like this thing to work almost exactly like Spotlight (Apple + Space) -- you can enter text, but this is such an an ancillary operation that in the context of the greater UX, you don't want the jarring effect of the main window graying out (becoming inactive). You'll notice when you have some application open and in-focus, spotlight will not cause the window of that application to become inactive. This problem arises because text input seems to REQUIRE that the child window become the key window (it will not let you place the cursor in the text input field). When it becomes key, the main window becomes inactive. So far I've tried: Subclassing NSWindow for my main application and overriding isKeyWindow such that it only loses key when the application is no longer the users focus (as opposed to the window). This had the unintended effect of colliding with key status of the child window and having very strange effects on the keyboard input (some keys are not captured, like delete) Creating a view instead of a window. Doesn't work because of this problem -- you cannot draw over a Webkit WebView these days. Anybody Cocoa/OSX wizards have any ideas? I've become a little obsessed with this one. An itch I can't scratch.

• Assigning specific menu administration rights for roles in drupal

  Hello folks. I'm trying to give one of my roles the administrative rights to add/remove content in a specific menu (but not all menus). I think I found a module that should enable something like this, http://drupalmodules.com/module/delegate-menu-administration I've followed the instructions, added the role to my user, checked the "administer some menus" value for that role and checked the "Make admin" field for that role and specific menu in Menus. I also gave the role permissions to change page and story content. However, it still wont let the user add any new content it creates in any menu, and I get an error message saying "warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/martin/www/drupal/modules/delegate_menu_admin/delegate_menu_admin.module on line 346." Line 346 looks like this: foreach ($form['menu']['parent']['#options'] as $key => $value) { I did a print_r($form); in the file just before it and there's no such array that I can see: [menu] => Array ( [#access] => 1 [delete] => Array ( [#access] => ) ) When I gave the role "administer menu" permissions, nothing extra was printed at all, leading me to the assumption that the delegate_menu_admin.module file is not used at all while both the "administer menu" and the "administer some menus" (from the delegate-menu-administration module) permissions are set! Is this some incompatibility between the module because of some drupal update? Or am I just too tired and too stupid? :)

• Getting nice sound from Java

  I managed to play midi files using Java, but it produces some distracting noise. I figured out that this is caused by the poor quality soundbank file shipped with Java 6 SDK/JRE. How can I improve that quality? Here is what I have so far: MidiNote example using a Receiver works fine (sounds the same as when playing midi files with other players), so it does not seem to use the Soundbank shipped with Java but the fallback mechanism that uses a hardware MIDI port. Using SimpleMidiPlayer example to play a Midi file works, but the quality is poor. When I delete lib/audio/soundbank.gm, the quality is not bad any more, so the fallback is used again. When I put soundbank-deluxe.gm into the same directory, it is used and produces much better sound. Messing with the clients soundbank file as described in the official Installation Instructions certainly isn't an option, so I tried to put the new soundbank-file into the jar-file and load it: Soundbank soundbank = MidiSystem.getSoundbank( getClass().getResourceAsStream("soundbank-deluxe.gm")); if(synthesizer.isSoundbankSupported(soundbank)) { System.out.println(synthesizer.loadAllInstruments(soundbank)); } This prints true, but the sound remains unchanged. What am I doing wrong loading the soundbank file? Can I force the hardware MIDI port to be used instead of the standard soundbank file?

• Creating a content management system for dedicated use

  I've been trying to create a specialised CMS, as none of the current open-source ones fit my needs for this project. I did my research on Google, tried multiple times but haven't got very far with this project. I'm trying to create a CMS for a TV/episode guide which is similar to this: (for some that don't have the :// just copy-and-paste and add it after http in the URL) http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/Police%2C+Camera%2C+Action!-12578 (one such example) - where records expire and delete from the database after expiration. This is the design I'm trying to emulate: http library.digiguide.com/lib/programme/24-84241/Drama/ - the programme http://library.digiguide.com/lib/episode/Under+Surveillance-714873 - a typical episode, could use .htaccess to remove php from name http library.digiguide.com/lib/programmenextshowing/24-84241 - paginated episode display (using script that I found in search here possibly) I don't have access to cron job as it's on Windows/Apache, so that's out the question for this one. I'm not sure how to go about this successfully, anyone got any advice? (Note:Although the linked site runs in ASP.NET, it's the design and feel of it I'm trying to emulate, except in PHP. I've managed to emulate that site's design, but with my own tweaks to it.)
