    What should be the ideal number of parallel java threads for copying a large set of files from a quad core linux box to an external shared folder? I can see that with a single thread it is taking a hell lot of time to move the files one by one. Multiple threads is improving the copy performance, but I don't know what should be the exact number of threads. I am using Java executor service to create the thread pool.

What is the best way to use a web interface to modify an .htaccess file? What I want is a way for an admin to log in to the admin area and switch Maintenance Mode on and off using a basic html form. I'm using PHP and I'm already using an .htaccess file for a handful of ReWriting.

    I have a class which loads an xml file using the following: Path.Combine( AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory, "Xml", documentName ); The documents that are being loaded are set to copy to the output directory. However, when I run mstest the xml file is not being copied to the BaseDirectory. Does anyone have any idea how I can accomplish this?

    Hi I have a lot of jpeg files with varying image size. For instance, here is the first 640 bytes as given by hexdump of an image of size 256*384(pixels): 0000000: ffd8 ffe0 0010 4a46 4946 0001 0101 0048 ......JFIF.....H 0000010: 0048 0000 ffdb 0043 0003 0202 0302 0203 .H.....C........ 0000020: 0303 0304 0303 0405 0805 0504 0405 0a07 ................ 0000030: 0706 080c 0a0c 0c0b 0a0b 0b0d 0e12 100d ................ I guess the size information mus be within these lines. But am unable to see which bytes give the sizes correctly. Can anyone help me find the fields that contains the size information?

While I can find examples of attoparsec parsing HTTP, which is essentially text based, I cannot find an example parsing actual binary, for example, a TCP packet, or image file, or mp3. Can someone post some code or pointer to some code which does this using attoparsec?

My \mycommand command takes two parameters, the first being a path to a file, and I want to pass the file's extension to the \inputminted command: \newcommand\mycommand[2]{ \inputminted{#1}{...} } Note that the above won't work since the full path is passed to \inputminted. Example: \mycommand{/path/to/Test.java}{blah} should invoke \inputminted{java}{...}

  • Abort a slow flush to disk after write?

    Is there a way to abort a python write operation in such a way that the OS doesn't feel it's necessary to flush the unwritten data to the disc? I'm writing data to a USB device, typically many megabytes. I'm using 4096 bytes as my block size on the write, but it appears that Linux caches up a bunch of data early on, and write it out to the USB device slowly. If at some point during the write, my user decides to cancel, I want the app to just stop writing immediately. I can see that there's a delay between when the data stops flowing from the application, and the USB activity light stops blinking. Several seconds, up to about 10 seconds typically. I find that the app is holding in the close() method, I'm assuming, waiting for the OS to finish writing the buffered data. I call flush() after every write, but that doesn't appear to have any impact on the delay. I've scoured the python docs for an answer but have found nothing.

    Hi all, I'm looking for a way to automate the deployment of a custom CAS policy in SharePoint. What i would like to achieve is the following: All assemblies that have been built and signed by our build server (with a secret key) should run in SharePoint under the 'higher than normal' trust level. Now I can manually edit the cas policy files to include something like this: <CodeGroup class="UnionCodeGroup" version="1" PermissionSetName="MyPermissionSet" Name="[My Company public key]" Description="Grants all "> <IMembershipCondition class="StrongNameMembershipCondition" version="1" PublicKeyBlob="[public key goes here]" /> </CodeGroup> And that works great. However, we have several huge sharepoint farms, with many applications running on it. I'd like to avoid having to manually edit all policy files to include this xml snippet. My problem is that the file is starting to be heavy and I would like to increase the compression level, since compression time is not an issue. I could not find in the rubyzip documentation a way to specify the compression level for the created ZIP file. Anyone know how to change this setting?
