  • ASP.NET - Update Dataset directly to DB

    - by karthik
Hi, Description: I wanted to update dataset to database in Asp.NET. Instead of retrieving the entire table, I am retrieving only one record using the following statement :- select * from Products where ProductID=3 Now I wanted to update dataset directly in to DB by using following statements (DAP 4.1) db.UpdateDataSet(ds, ds.Tables[0].TableName, null, cmdupdate, null, UpdateBehavior.Standard); Questions Can I Retrieve only one row from DB while a lot of other records are there and update back using Adapter update? ( In other words, I am not selecting all records from table) I am using Data Application Block 4.1? It will work there right? If anyone can give example for update will be great ( with Procedures). Thanks Ka

  • Recommendations with hierarchical data on non-relational databases?

    - by Luki
I'm developing an web application that uses a non-relational database as a backend (django-nonrel + AppEngine). I need to store some hierarchical data (projects/subproject_1/subproject_N/tasks), and I'm wondering which pattern should I use. For now I thought of: Adjacency List (store the item's parent id) Nested sets (store left and right values for the item) In my case, the depth of nesting for a normal user will not exceed 4-5 levels. Also, on the UI, I would like to have a pagination for the items on the first level, to avoid to load too many items at the first page load. From what I understand so far, nested sets are great when the hierarchy is used more for displaying. Adjacency lists are great when editing on the tree is done often. In my case I guess I need the displaying more than the editing (when using nested sets, even if the display would work great, the above pagination could complicate things on editing). Do you have any thoughts and advice, based on your experience with the non-relational databases?

  • python dictionary with constant value-type

    - by s.kap
hi there, I bumped into a case where I need a big (=huge) python dictionary, which turned to be quite memory-consuming. However, since all of the values are of a single type (long) - as well as the keys, I figured I can use python (or numpy, doesn't really matter) array for the values ; and wrap the needed interface (in: x ; out: d[x]) with an object which actually uses these arrays for the keys and values storage. I can use a index-conversion object (input -- index, of 1..n, where n is the different-values counter), and return array[index]. I can elaborate on some techniques of how to implement such an indexing-methods with reasonable memory requirement, it works and even pretty good. However, I wonder if there is such a data-structure-object already exists (in python, or wrapped to python from C/++), in any package (I checked collections, and some Google searches). Any comment will be welcome, thanks.

  • Flexible Data source for Multi-Section Table View Controller

    - by TuanCM
I have a TableViewController which display a list of NewsItem objects: @interface NewsItem : NSObject { NSString *feedID; NSString *title; NSDate *published; } I'm trying to implement a Table View Controller (multiple sections) that can display the list in two ways: One divide News Items into sections which based on Published Date The other would be based on FeedID (News source). And I don't know how to structure the data source so that the code is easy to maintain. I tried to put the list of News Items into a 2 dimension Array in this case is a NSMutableArray of NSArray objects. However I got some objc_exception_throw and I don't think this is flexible enough. Could you guys give me some ideas?

  • Data table to Excel conversion leaves my server side button non responsive

    - by Nikhil Vaghela
We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button. Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button. this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End(); Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired !!! Any idea ? Thanks.

  • create a folder and files in c:\program files\myApp\data in windows 7

    - by ile
I have an old c++ application that needs to be modified to work with windows 7. Problem is in creating a new folder and saving a file in that folder. This folder should be created in c:\program files\myApp\data\newFolder. This is function I use to create new folder and get errors: if(!CreateDirectory(pathSamples,NULL)) //Throw Error { DWORD errorcode = GetLastError(); LPVOID lpMsgBuf; FormatMessage(FORMAT_MESSAGE_ALLOCATE_BUFFER | FORMAT_MESSAGE_FROM_SYSTEM | FORMAT_MESSAGE_IGNORE_INSERTS, NULL, errorcode, MAKELANGID(LANG_NEUTRAL, SUBLANG_DEFAULT), (LPTSTR)&lpMsgBuf, 0, NULL ); MessageBox(NULL, (LPCTSTR)lpMsgBuf, TEXT("Error"), MB_OK); } In XP this works, but in Windows 7 it doesn't. If I run application as administrator than the folder is created, otherwise "Access is denied" error is thrown. My question is following: Is there an option to make changes to the code so that the folder can be created in "program files" nad that files can be saved in this folder? PS I saw this thread already but it doesn't answer my question. Thanks, Ilija

  • Transferring data from 2d Dynamic array in C to CUDA and back

    - by Soumya
    I have a dynamically declared 2D array in my C program, the contents of which I want to transfer to a CUDA kernel for further processing. Once processed, I want to populate the dynamically declared 2D array in my C code with the CUDA processed data. I am able to do this with static 2D C arrays but not with dynamically declared C arrays. Any inputs would be welcome! I mean the dynamic array of dynamic arrays. The test code that I have written is as below. #include "cuda_runtime.h" #include "device_launch_parameters.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <conio.h> #include <math.h> #include <stdlib.h> const int nItt = 10; const int nP = 5; __device__ int d_nItt = 10; __device__ int d_nP = 5; __global__ void arr_chk(float *d_x_k, float *d_w_k, int row_num) { int index = (blockIdx.x * blockDim.x) + threadIdx.x; int index1 = (row_num * d_nP) + index; if ( (index1 >= row_num * d_nP) && (index1 < ((row_num +1)*d_nP))) //Modifying only one row data pertaining to one particular iteration { d_x_k[index1] = row_num * d_nP; d_w_k[index1] = index; } } float **mat_create2(int r, int c) { float **dynamicArray; dynamicArray = (float **) malloc (sizeof (float)*r); for(int i=0; i<r; i++) { dynamicArray[i] = (float *) malloc (sizeof (float)*c); for(int j= 0; j<c;j++) { dynamicArray[i][j] = 0; } } return dynamicArray; } /* Freeing memory - here only number of rows are passed*/ void cleanup2d(float **mat_arr, int x) { int i; for(i=0; i<x; i++) { free(mat_arr[i]); } free(mat_arr); } int main() { //float w_k[nItt][nP]; //Static array declaration - works! //float x_k[nItt][nP]; // if I uncomment this dynamic declaration and comment the static one, it does not work..... float **w_k = mat_create2(nItt,nP); float **x_k = mat_create2(nItt,nP); float *d_w_k, *d_x_k; // Device variables for w_k and x_k int nblocks, blocksize, nthreads; for(int i=0;i<nItt;i++) { for(int j=0;j<nP;j++) { x_k[i][j] = (nP*i); w_k[i][j] = j; } } for(int i=0;i<nItt;i++) { for(int j=0;j<nP;j++) { printf("x_k[%d][%d] = %f\t",i,j,x_k[i][j]); printf("w_k[%d][%d] = %f\n",i,j,w_k[i][j]); } } int size1 = nItt * nP * sizeof(float); printf("\nThe array size in memory bytes is: %d\n",size1); cudaMalloc( (void**)&d_x_k, size1 ); cudaMalloc( (void**)&d_w_k, size1 ); if((nP*nItt)<32) { blocksize = nP*nItt; nblocks = 1; } else { blocksize = 32; // Defines the number of threads running per block.   • Best way to correct garbled data caused by false encoding

    - by ercan
Hi all, I have a set of data that contains garbled text fields because of encoding errors during many import/exports from one database to another. Most of the errors were caused by converting UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1. Strangely enough, the errors are not consistent: the word 'München' appears as 'München' in some place and as 'MÃœnchen'. Is there a trick in SQL server to correct this kind of crap? The first thing that I can think of is to exploit the COLLATE clause, so that ü is interpreted as ü, but I don't exactly know how. If it isn't possible to make it in the DB level, do you know any tool that helps for a bulk correction? (no manual find/replace tool, but a tool that guesses the garbled text somehow and correct them)

  • e-commerce product data/metadata schemas

    - by Shreko
Trying to figure out how is product data/metadata schema designed. For example, how does an e-commerce site enter a product spec. Does it copy and paste from mfg spec sheet, enters it in their own fields or something else? Here is an example, looking at the D3000 Nikon DSLR Manufacturer: http://nikon.ca/en/Product.aspx?m=17300&disp=Specs futureshop.ca: www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/nikon-nikon-d3000-10-2mp-dslr-camera-with-18-55mm-lens-kit-d3000/10128435.aspx?path=865c2348a1542e848982c9dbd9253483en02 memoryexpress.com: www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX25539%28ME%29.aspx They are all slightly different in order or in parent/child field? What's storage is used for this type of info rdbms or xml?

  • Filling a LOV in Oracle Apex based on data in another text box

    - by Martin Pugh
I am fairly new to Oracle Apex, and have a problem. Our application currently has a method of entering data, with several text boxes and Optional List of Values. I would like to have an LOV based on information in another text box like so: select APPOINTMENT_ID PATIENT_ID from APPOINTMENT where PATIENT_ID = :P9_PAT_NUM where P9_PAT_NUM is a patient number in a text box. However, this would apparently only work if the text box has already been submitted, else it assumes the text box is null. Is there any way to get this working with an LOV, or perhaps some other method?

  • Javascript recursive data structure definition

    - by Matt Bierner
I need to define a data structure recursively in Javascript. Here is a simple example of a circular linked list: // List a very simplified example of what the actual (non list) code does. function List(f, r) { return function(){ return [f, r]; }; } var head = List('a', List('b', List('c', head))); When this is executed, head in List 'c' is resolved to undefined, not List 'a' as I need. List is an example function that returns a function (It is not an Javascript list that I can append to). I tried to wrap the definition of head is a self executing named function, but that blew the stack when head was resolved. What is the Javascript style solution that I am overlooking?

  • CoreData and many NSArrayController

    - by unixo
In my CoreData Application, I've an outline view on left of main window, acting as source list (like iTunes); on the right I display a proper view, based on outline selection. Each view has its components, such as table view, connected to array controller, owned by the specific view. Very often different views display same data, for example, a table view of the same entity. From a performance point of view, is better to have a single array controller per entity and share it between all views or does CoreData cache avoid memory waste?

  • What Windows Form control would be a good fit for this use case?

    - by Sergio Tapia
I'm going create an open source Help desk solution free of charge for small to medium businesses to use. I'm currently working on the client application. I want to have a list of tickets that have been opened by the user. So it would be like a table TicketsByUser: Ticket Number | Type | Description | Date | Handled? 123456 | Hardware | My mouse broke | 10/20/2010 | No 123456 | Hardware | My mouse broke | 10/20/2010 | Yes I was thinking of using ListView because of it's name, but I have zero experience with it, so maybe it's not what I'm looking for. I'm going to be pulling the data from a WCF service which in turn pulls it from a MS SQL database.

  • Using .dll methods to load data from file in C# code

    - by Espinas.iss
I want to use in C# these methods: * int LibRaw::open_datastream(LibRaw_abstract_datastream *stream) * int LibRaw::open_file(const char *rawfile) * int LibRaw::open_buffer(void *buffer, size_t bufsize) * int LibRaw::unpack(void) * int LibRaw::unpack_thumb(void) that are stored in a libraw.dll. These functions one by one load data from file... I've been reading about P/Invoke but i'm not sure how to invoke them. Can anyone show me an example how to use all of these functions together in C# to load file (raw image stored in folder) or just how to PIvoke one of them. Thanx!

  • ajax Post data missing with tinyMCE on Firefox

    - by Freeman
    I have a problem with my form when I try to submit with ajax. I am using Malsup Form plugin for Jquery but also using tinyMCE editor. When I submit the form and check the $_POST array, there is no data from the textarea. I have tried to use the triggerSave() function but to no avail. Everything is working well in IE. // These options are common and will be used for many form submissions var options = { target: '#notice', // target element(s) to be updated with server response dataType:'html', resetForm:true, beforeSubmit: function(){tinyMCE.triggerSave(false,true); }, success:function(msg){ $('#notice').html( msg) refresh(3) } }; //prepare form $('#savetext').ajaxForm(options);

  • How to create wordpress-like option table and get values for each row?

    - by Nacho
Hi guys. I'm looking to create an options table in my db that makes every record a system option, so I can work with a little number of fields. My db has the following structure: 3 columns named id, name, and value The following data is inserted as an example: +--+-----------+--------------------------+ |id|name |value | +--+-----------+--------------------------+ | 1|uri |www.example.com | | 2|sitename |Working it out | | 3|base_folder|/folder1/folder2/ | | 4|slogan |Just a slogan for the site| +--+-----------+--------------------------+ That way I can include a large number of customizable system options very easily. The problem is that I don't know how to retrieve them. How do I get the value of uri and store it as a var? And better yet, how do I get, for exmaple, values of id 1 and 4 only without making a query each time? (I assume multiple queries are useless and a pretty ugly method.) I know the question is pretty basic but I'm lost here. I'd really appreciate your answer!

What's the problem???

  • Loading large amounts of data to an Oracle SQL Database

    - by James
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with what I am about to embark on. I have several csv files which are all around a GB or so in size and I need to load them into a an oracle database. While most of my work after loading will be read-only I will need to load updates from time to time. Basically I just need a good tool for loading several rows of data at a time up to my db. Here is what I have found so far: I could use SQL Loader t do a lot of the work I could use Bulk-Insert commands Some sort of batch insert. Using prepared statement somehow might be a good idea. I guess I was wondering what everyone thinks is the fastest way to get this insert done. Any tips?

  • Balanced Search Tree Query, Asymtotic Analysis..

    - by AGeek
Hi, The situation is as follows:- We have n number and we have print them in sorted order. We have access to balanced dictionary data structure, which supports the operations serach, insert, delete, minimum, maximum each in O(log n) time. We want to retrieve the numbers in sorted order in O(n log n) time using only the insert and in-order traversal. The answer to this is:- Sort() initialize(t) while(not EOF) read(x) insert(x,t); Traverse(t); Now the query is if we read the elements in time "n" and then traverse the elements in "log n"(in-order traversal) time,, then the total time for this algorithm (n+logn)time, according to me.. Please explain the follow up of this algorithm for the time calculation.. How it will sort the list in O(nlogn) time?? Thanks.

  • insert data into several tables

    - by csetzkorn
Let us say I have a table (everything is very much simplified): create table OriginalData ( bla char(10) not null ) And I would like to insert its data (set based!) into two tables which model inheritance create table Statements ( Id int IDENTITY NOT NULL, ProposalDateTime DATETIME null ) create table Items ( StatementFk INT not null, ItemName NVARCHAR(255) null, primary key (StatementFk) ) Statements is the parent table and Items is the child table. I have no problem doing this with one row which involves the use of IDENT_CURRENT but I have no idea how to do this set based (i.e. enter several rows into both tables). Thanks. Best wishes, Christian
