• I'm using spring, hibernate and mysql. How can I let my app create the table automatically.

  Hi guys, I'm using spring, all my annotated entity class information are put in the ApplicationContext.xml. I'm using a MySql database, now how can I use the SchemaExport function in hibernate to create the tables? My application can't create the table automatically, though i have set <prop key="hbm2ddl.auto">create</prop>. • IIS 6 forces AppRoot/Starting Point to upper case when Virtual Directory is imported from a file

  I have searched the web for this and couldn't find anything (well one remotely relevant post), so here I am. We have multiple ASP.NET apps in IIS 6 using Forms Authentication with dedicated path for each app. Since path is case sensitive it must match URL's path section exactly. However, because of an incorrect casing in IIS 6 Metabase for AppRoot (or Starting Point in IIS UI) bowser doesn't send Form cookie to the server whenever URL is previously resolved on the server and sent to client in incorrect case. Example: App URL = "https://Test.net/Application1" Cookie path = /Application1 Metabase AppRoot = /LM/W3SVC/1393818691/ROOT/APPLICATIONPATH1 Resolved URL = "https://Test.net/APPLICATIONPATH1" Now to the root cause... We create virtual directories on test server manually in a specific case (matches Path for each application). We then export virtual directory using UI to an XML file, which is then imported to another server (let's say production), at which point IIS decides to uppercase AppRoot element of the metabase. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is there a setting on IIS I am not aware of? I am trying to avoid manual edit of metabase after the import. Is that a bug?

• Configuring 32-Bit ASP.NET Application on a 64-Bit IIS Server

  Hello, I’m trying to install a 32-bit ASP.NET application onto a 64-bit IIS server running on Windows Server 2008. This is a clean installation of the operating system with no other applications installed. As a prerequisite for our installation, we run the 32-bit version of aspnet_regiis –i It fails with the following message: The error indicates that IIS is not installed on the machine. Please install IIS before using this tool. Additionally: IIS is definitely installed. The 64 bit version of aspnet_regiis runs cleanly without warnings. “Enable 32 bit applications” is set to True in the DefaultAppPool’s Advanced Settings. The IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility” component is installed. We have a test VM where this error occurs as well as test VM where both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of aspnet_regiis run without errors. We've had no luck distinguishing the differences between the two test VMs. We have struggled with this issue for several days to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

• Duck type testing with C# 4 for dynamic objects.

  I'm wanting to have a simple duck typing example in C# using dynamic objects. It would seem to me, that a dynamic object should have HasValue/HasProperty/HasMethod methods with a single string parameter for the name of the value, property, or method you are looking for before trying to run against it. I'm trying to avoid try/catch blocks, and deeper reflection if possible. It just seems to be a common practice for duck typing in dynamic languages (JS, Ruby, Python etc.) that is to test for a property/method before trying to use it, then falling back to a default, or throwing a controlled exception. The example below is basically what I want to accomplish. If the methods described above don't exist, does anyone have premade extension methods for dynamic that will do this? Example: In JavaScript I can test for a method on an object fairly easily. //JavaScript function quack(duck) { if (duck && typeof duck.quack === "function") { return duck.quack(); } return null; //nothing to return, not a duck } How would I do the same in C#? //C# 4 dynamic Quack(dynamic duck) { //how do I test that the duck is not null, //and has a quack method? //if it doesn't quack, return null }

  I think this is sufficiently different from similar questions to warrant a new one. I have the following regex to match the beginning hyperlink tags in HTML, including the http(s):// part in order to avoid mailto: links <a[^>]*?href=[""'](?<href>\\b(https?)://[^\[\]""]+?)[""'][^>]*?> When I run this through Nregex (with escaping removed) it matches correctly for the following test cases: <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk"> <a href="http://bbc.co.uk"> <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk"> <a href="mailto:[email protected]"> However when I run this in my C# code it fails.   Hi , I am the newbie of android, but i hava seen the tutorial and implement some simple applications. The question i met is that I am tring to stream some video from my server to android, but the android VideoView class just plays the audition sololy without "image"@@!~ Here is my setting and android code : 1. android core code: mVideoView01.setVideoURI(Uri.parse("rtsp://192.168.16.1:8080/test.sdp")); mVideoView01.start(); 2. my streaming server is VLC and the command is: vlc -vvv d:\nobody.mp4 --sout=#transcode{vcodec=h264,width=320,hegiht=240}:rtp{dst=192.168.16.1,port=4444,sdp=rtsp://192.168.16.1:8080/test.sdp} ps: My ip is got from DHCP but I have checked it really can be connected(Android could play audition after all) ps2: I haved trid to stream some video from "http://www.americafree.tv/" and the playing is good!!@@ So I guess that the problem maybe is caused by streaming Video format, but I have almost tried every figument option form VLC, and it still don't workQQ.   Hi folks, I've been given the task of posting to a RESTful server. I'm new to the official "REST" but I've played with the concept before. However, this time I have an XML Payload example file that I am supposed to post. I'm struggling to figure out how the two relate. Can you help? Right now I can post to a specific site, say www.pcpost.com/schema/Application I can generate the URL for the inital, ie: postApplication?userid=4&... Being relatively new to web programming, I find that don't know how to take the following and interface it with the server. I'm at least familiar with Javascript and PHP. If this is impossible with those two types, I can learn whatever would be best. Thanks for your help on this.   I'm having a problem instantiating a ListItem object with specified attributes. For some reason all attributes are set to nil even if I specify values. However, if I specify attributes for a List, they retain their values. It runs the test method. However I want to call multiple methods who all have different parameters. I don't know what parameters these are (so not only String.class). But how is this possible? how can I get the parameter types of a method ? I know of the following method: Class[] parameterTypes = method.getParameterTypes(); But that will return the parameterTypes of the method I just selected! with the following statement: Method method = cl.getMethod(s, String.class); Any help would be appreciated !

• Passing custom Python objects to nosetests

  I am attempting to re-organize our test libraries for automation and nose seems really promising. My question is, what is the best strategy for passing Python objects into nose tests? Our tests are organized in a testlib with a bunch of modules that exercise different types of request operations. Something like this: testlib \-testmoda \-testmodb \-testmodc In some cases the test modules (i.e. testmoda) is nothing but test_something(), test_something2() functions while in some cases we have a TestModB class in testmob with the test_anotherthing1(), test_anotherthing2() functions. The cool thing is that nose easily finds both. Most of those test functions are request factory stuff that can easily share a single connection to our server farm. Thus we do a lot of test_something1(cnn), TestModB.test_anotherthing2(cnn), etc. Currently we don't use nose, instead we have a hodge-podge of homegrown driver scripts with hard-coded lists of tests to execute. Each of those driver scripts creates its own connection object. Maintaining those scripts and the connection minutia is painful. I'd like to take free advantage of nose's beautiful discovery functionality, passing in a connection object of my choosing. Thanks in advance! Rob P.S. The connection objects are not pickle-able. :(

• Run a .java file using ProcessBuilder

  I'm a novice programmer working in Eclipse, and I need to get multiple processes running (this is going to be a simulation of a multi-computer system). My initial hackup used multiple threads to multiple classes, but now I'm trying to replace the threads with processes. From my reading, I've gleaned that ProcessBuilder is the way to go. I have tried many many versions of the input you see below, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly use it. I am trying to run the .java files I previously created as classes (which I have modified). I eventually just made a dummy test.java to make sure my process is working properly - its only function is to print that it ran. My code for the two files are below. Am I using ProcessBuilder correctly? Is this the correct way to read the output of my subprocess? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm using the Reply-To field to attempt to make it easier to hit reply and easily get back to people. The message comes up with the 'from' address and ignores the 'reply-to' address. • Unit Testing in the real world

  I manage a rather large application (50k+ lines of code) by myself, and it manages some rather critical business actions. To describe the program simple, I would say it's a fancy UI with the ability to display and change data from the database, and it's managing around 1,000 rental units, and about 3k tenants and all the finances. When I make changes, because it's so large of a code base, I sometimes break something somewhere else. I typically test it by going though the stuff I changed at the functional level (i.e. I run the program and work through the UI), but I can't test for every situation. That is why I want to get started with unit testing. However, this isn't a true, three tier program with a database tier, a business tier, and a UI tier. A lot of the business logic is performed in the UI classes, and many things are done on events. To complicate things, everything is database driven, and I've not seen (so far) good suggestions on how to unit test database interactions. How would be a good way to get started with unit testing for this application. Keep in mind. I've never done unit testing or TDD before. Should I rewrite it to remove the business logic from the UI classes (a lot of work)? Or is there a better way?

  This is somewhat related to my security question here. Is it a bad idea to use an hg / mercurial repository for a live website? If so, why? Furthermore, we have dev, test and production installations of our website, like dev.example.com, test.example.com and www.example.com. If it's a bad idea to use a repository for a live/production website, would it be OK to use an hg repository for the dev and test sites? I'm also concerned about ease of deployment. We have technical and less technical co-workers who will be working with the site. The technical guys (software engineers) won't have any problem working with the command line or TortoiseHG. I'm more concerned about the less technical guys (web designers). They won't be comfortable working on the command line, and may even find TortoiseHG daunting. These guys mostly upload .css files and images to the server. I'd like for these files (at least the .css files) to be under version control, but I want this to be as transparent as possible for the non technical guys. What's the best way to achieve this? Edit: Our 'site' is actually a multi-site CMS setup with a main repository and several subrepositories. Mock-up of the repository structure: /root [main repository containing core files and subrepositories] /modules [modules subrepository] /sites/global [subrepository for global .css and .php files] /sites/site1 [site1 subrepository] ... /sites/siteN [siteN subrepository] Software engineers would work in the root, modules and sites/global repositories. Less technical guys (web designers) would work only in the site1 ... siteN subrepositories.

  The following $header is being sent via PHP's mail($to,$subject,$content,$header) command. The mail arrives and appears to have an attachment. But the mail text is empty as is the file. I think this has something to do with line spacing but I can't see the problem. I have tried putting the contents (between the boundaries) in $contents rather than appending it to $header.   i have a bunch of Console.WriteLines in my code that I can observe at runtime. I communicate with a native library that I also wrote. I'd like to stick some printf's in the native library and observe them too. I don't see them at runtime however. I've created a convoluted hello world app to demonstrate my problem. When the app runs, I can debug into the native library and see that the hello world is called. The output never lands in the textwriter though. Note that if the same code is run as a console app then everything works fine.
