    I have a DB schema composed of MYISAM tables, i am interested to delete old records from time to time from some of the tables. I know that delete does not reclaim the memory space, but as i found in a description of DELETE command, inserts may reuse the space deleted In MyISAM tables, deleted rows are maintained in a linked list and subsequent INSERT operations reuse old row positions. I am interested if LOAD DATA command also reuses the deleted space? UPDATE I am also interested how the index space reclaimed?

    I am using the new Virtual PC Beta on Windows 7 and I saw: The virtual machines have a special directory, but once you are in it, the VMs are shown. How can I do the same thing, with custom headings ("Machine status", "Memory", etc.) and custom toolbar buttons ("Create virtual machine")? I can't seem to find any documentation for this.

    In C#, i want to show the first week in a calendar (in a html table) and i am trying to figure out the most elegant algorithm to generate the right days. If the first day of the week is not Sunday, i want to show the days of preceding month (like you would see on a regular calendar). So, as an input you have a current month. In this case May. I want to generate this: Month: May <table> <tr> <th>S</th> <th>M</th> <th>T</th> <th>W</th> <th>TH</th> <th>F</th> <th>Sa</th> </tr> <tr> <td>25</td> <td>26</td> <td>27</td> <td>28</td> <td>29</td> <td>30</td> <td>1</td> </tr></table> so it should display something like this (ignore the alignment) S | M | T | W | Th | F | Sa | 25 - 26 - 27 - 28 - 29 - 30 - 1 given that each month would have the start of day be a different day of the week, i am trying to figure out an elegant way to get the values of this data using the DateTime object. I see it has a dayofweek property on a date. i am generating this table in C# on my server to pass down to a html page.

    I have a one-time process (hashing all our user passwords) written using datasets. The performance needs improvement so we've profiled the application and found that increasing the 'batch size' of the update will improve performance. I also know that if I load the entire data set into memory the application will start hitting swap and slow down. The question is: how big is a System.Data.DataRow derived class? I'd like to calculate a batch size which I know won't force the application into swap.

    Hi, I need to position this update button on www.euroworker.no/order (you'll have to add an item to the cart, use the Kjøp button to add and Handlevogn to view the cart). Works in FF and IE. (Although there is another alignment problems with IE) but not in Chrome or Safari. I had it working before, but the only thing I can think of to do is target safari and Chrome. Is this possible? I need this so i can do a calculation on size / time to get the speed in realtime. Im planing on performing this calculation in the webClient.DownloadProgressChanged event.

  • dojo dgrid tree, subrows in wrong position

    I have a dgrid, working with tree column plugin. Every time that the user click on the tree, I call the server, catch the subrows(json) and bind it. But when it happens, these subrows are show in wrong position, like the image bellow. The most strange is when I change the pagination, after go back to first page, the subrows stay on the correct place.     Hi All I have a Text File (Sorry, I'm not allowed to work on XML files :(), and it includes customer records. Each text file looks like: Account_ID: 98734BLAH9873 User Name: something_85 First Name: ILove Last Name: XML Age: 209 etc... And I need to be able to use LINQ to get the data from these text files and just store them in memory. I have seen many Linq to SQL, Linq to BLAH but nothing for Linq to Text.     I'm conflicted between a "read once, use memory+pointers to files" and a "read when necessary" approach. The latter is of course much easier (no additional classes needed to store the whole dir structure), but IMO it is slower? A little clarification: I'm writing a simple build system, that read a project file, checks if all files are present, and runs some compile steps. The file tree is static, so the first option doesn't need to be very dynamic and only needs to be built once every time the program is run. Thanks

    Hi, I just encounter a strange problem: var a:ClassA = new ClassA; var b:ClassA = a; The program keeps running sometime, the a = null, b = null. The program is a complex one, I am sure that no part will touch a, and b. My question is, will the runtime(garbage collector) to collect the memory of "a" and then assign a and b to null? I am confused, thanks!

    Hi, I was using Sonar to make my code cleaner, and it pointed that I'm using new Integer(1) instead of Integer.valueOf(1). Because it seems that valueOf does not instantiate a new object so is more memory-friendly. How can valueOf not instantiate a new object ? How does it work ? Is this true for all integers ? thanks.

    I get a St9bad_alloc error which I'm unable to debug. I tried reducing the size of the data structure to eliminate the possibility that I might be running out of memory but that doesn't seem to be the case. These are the relevant files:- gdb backtrace: http://pastebin.com/5hFhHXnL TraceCache.cc: http://pastebin.com/j8vK812j I can't understand how, in the backtrace it jumps from TraceCache.cc:55 to TraceCache.cc:34 whereas in my code I can't see any such path.
