  • MySQLi - declaring variable after bind_param?

    This may be a completely dumb question, but I've seen a couple examples declaring the variables AFTER putting them in bind_param: http://devzone.zend.com/article/686 I've never seen this done before and all my programming knowledge says I should define them before hand. Is this a valid/preferred way?

    I'm trying to figure out the syntax for creating a view (or function) but only if a dependent CLR assembly exits. I've tried both IF EXISTS (SELECT name FROM sys.assemblies WHERE name = 'MyCLRAssembly') begin create view dbo.MyView as select GETDATE() as C1 end and IF EXISTS (SELECT name FROM sys.assemblies WHERE name = 'MyCLRAssembly') create view dbo.MyView as select GETDATE() as C1 go Neither work. I get Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'view'. How can this be done?

  • Improving performance for WRITE operation on Oracle DB in Java

    I've a typical scenario & need to understand best possible way to handle this, so here it goes - I'm developing a solution that will retrieve data from a remote SOAP based web service & will then push this data to an Oracle database on network. Also, this will be a scheduled task that will execute every 15 minutes. I've event queues on remote service that contains the INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE operations that have been done since last retrieval, & once I retrieve the events for last 15 minutes, it again add events for next retrieval. Now, its just pushing data to Oracle so all my interactions are INSERT & UPDATE statements. There are around 60 tables on Oracle with some of them having 100+ columns. Moreover, for every 15 minutes cycle there would be around 60-70 Inserts, 100+ Updates & 10-20 Deletes. This will be an executable jar file that will terminate after operation & will again start on next 15 minutes cycle. So, I need to understand how should I handle WRITE operations (best practices) to improve performance for this application as whole ? Current Test Code (on every cycle) - Connects to remote service to get events. Creates a connection with DB (single connection object). Identifies the type of operation (INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) & table on which it is done. After above, calls the respective method based on type of operation & table. Uses Preparedstatement with positional parameters, & retrieves each column value from remote service & assigns that to statement parameters. Commits the statement & returns to get event class to process next event. Above is repeated till all the retrieved events are processed after which program closes & then starts on next cycle & everything repeats again. Thanks for help !

Is this the preferred method of exception handling in JavaScript? Are there built-in exception types (like NullPointerException)? (if so, what are they, what kind of inheritance do they use, and are they preferred over other options?)

  • How to run dubug file on another computer

    I have a debug .exe file that i want to run on other machines that don't have MS Visual Studio 2008 installed on them. How can this be done? The release option doesn't work as the application does not function correctly when build in release (not sure why). At the moment I'm getting a message saying "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect". An ideas? Cheers.

  • Highlight table view cells when user drags across rows

    I have a grouped table view that does not need to scroll. I'd like each cell to highlight as the user moves their finger down the screen and call didSelectRowAtIndexPath on release. This behaviour can be seen done by apple in 'settings mail add account'? I can't seem to replicate it myself, all I can get is the default, where the cell deselects as soon as the user moves their finger.

  • iPhone OpenGL scrolling background jumps when texture is drawn for first time

    I have been fighting a problem for a while now and would appreciate any help anybody could give. I have a sprite that moves within a landscape. The sprite remains in the center of the screen and the background moves to simulate that the sprite is moving within the landscape. I have split the landscape into sections so that I only draw the sections of the landscape that I need (are on screen). The Problem: As a new texture section of the screen appears on the screen (is drawn for the first time) the movement jumps. Almost like a frame is missed. I have done some timing experiments and I do not thinks a frame is missed. My processing is well below the 30fps that I have the animation set to. It only happens the first time the texture section is drawn. Is there something extra that is done the first time a texture is drawn?     Hi, I guess it has to do something with string being a reference type but I dont get why simply string.Replace("X","Y") does not work? Why I need to do `string A=stringB.Replace("X","Y") I thought it is just a method to be done on specified instance? Thanks for explanation EDIT: Thank you so far.     I'm generating code dynamically, currently using String.Format and embedding placeholders - but reformatting the C# code for use as a template is a pain, and I think using a T4 template would be better. However, the code generation will be happening on a running system, so I need to know that I can safely and legally redistribute the Microsoft T4 Engine with my product. Anyone else done this? Or know the (legal) answer?

I have done this by keeping a list of the original items and selecting matching items from that list each time the search string changes and updating the ListBox.Items Is there a more elegant/efficient way to do this?

    Basically i have binary data, i dont mind if it's unreadable but im writing it to a file which is parsed and so it's importance newline characters are taken out. I thought i had done the right thing when i converted to string.... byte[] b = (byte[])SubKey.GetValue(v[i]); s = System.Text.ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(b); and then removed the newlines String t = s.replace("\n","") but its not working ?

    I'm rubbish at Regular Expressions, really! What I'd like is to split a string containing a CCS property value into an array of [string,value,unit]. For example: if I supplied the .split() method with 1px it'd return ["1px",1,"px"]. If I were to supply, similarly, 10% it'd return ["10%",10,"%"]. Can this be done? I appreciate all your help!

    Hi every one! I really need to make this connection throw wireless (or lan ethernet). I have done this on windows (VS2008 C#, sockets), but here on linux (ubuntu 10.04) I have installed mono, and i can handle many things there, but it's speed is unacceptable for my 600MHz processor. so i decided to move on c++, but i'm new to c++ and i'm not familiar to many of it's headers. Is there any header or any library which can do that for me? thanks
