  I am using gnosis.xml.pickle to convert an object of my own class to xml. The object is initialized so that: self.logger = MyLogger() But when I do dump the object to a string I get an exception stating that the pickler encountered an unpickleable type . Is there a way to 'tag' the logger attribute so that pickler will know not to try and pickle that attribute?

  I'm working on a college exercise and have the following question: What is the domain of the "country" table? My understanding of domain is that it defines the possible values of an attribute. This means that the table "country" doesn't have a domain, but the various attributes in the table "country" have their own domains. For example the attribute "SurfaceArea" has the domain FLOAT(10,2) and the attribute "Name" has the domain CHAR(52). Is this correct?

• Alert team members of SVN commit?

  I'm hosting my own svn repository on ubuntu 8.04. Is there a way for svn to send emails to team members whenever a commit has happened? If coding is required, the only language I'm able to use on a linux server is PHP. So I could write a php script to be triggered by svn.   I'm wondering if it is possible to create a separate APK file which contains only language specific strings and somehow persuade my program to try to read the string resources first from that package's resource and then from the program's own resources... • Understanding java's native threads and the jvm

  I understand that the jvm is itself an application that turns the bytecode of the java executable into native machine code, but when using native threads I have some questions that I just cannot seem to answer. Does every thread create their own instance of the jvm to handle their particular execution? If not then does the jvm have to have some way to schedule which thread it will handle next, if so wouldn't this render the multi-threaded nature of java useless since only one thread can be ran at a time?

  I'm new to Django and have some code in my views.py like this: try: myfunction() except: assert False, sys.exc_info()[0] This is very helpful because I get an email with lots of useful info if there's an error. The problem is that it also redirects the user to a Webfaction system error page. What I'd like to know is how do I still get the useful error email, but redirect the user to my own error page? Also, is this the best way to be handling errors in Django?
