    Database i am using is MySQL 5.1. I specified, i believe, right connectionstring in my web.config. but when i run my web app. it throws this exception:- MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException: The user specified as a definer ('root'@'%') does not exist Any help. Why am i getting this?

    I've been perusing some hep forums and some help books but cant seem to get my head wrapped around this. My task is to read data from two text files and then load that data into an existing MS Access 2007 database. So here is what i'm trying to do: Read data from first text file and for every line of data add data to a DataTable using CarID as my unique field. Read data from second text file and look for existing CarID in DataTable if exists update that row. If it doesnt exist add a new row. once im done push the contents of the DataTable to the database. What i have so far: Dim sSQL As String = "SELECT * FROM tblCars" Dim da As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sSQL, conn) Dim ds As New DataSet da.Fill(ds, "CarData") Dim cb As New OleDb.OleDbCommandBuilder(da) 'loop read a line of text and parse it out. gets dd, dc, and carId 'create a new empty row Dim dsNewRow As DataRow = ds.Tables("CarData").NewRow() 'update the new row with fresh data dsNewRow.Item("DriveDate") = dd dsNewRow.Item("DCode") = dc dsNewRow.Item("CarNum") = carID 'about 15 more fields 'add the filled row to the DataSet table ds.Tables("CarData").Rows.Add(dsNewRow) 'end loop 'update the database with the new rows da.Update(ds, "CarData") Questions: In constructing my table i use "SELECT * FROM tblCars" but what if that table has millions of records already. Is that not a waste of resources? Should i be trying something different if i want to update with new records? Once Im done with the first text file i then go to my next text file. Whats the best approach here: To First look for an existing record based on CarNum or to create a second table and then merge the two at the end? Finally when the DataTable is done being populated and im pushing it to the database i want to make sure that if records already exist with three primary fields (DriveDate, DCode, and CarNum) that they get updated with new fields and if it doesn't exist then those records get appended.   • Using Enum in Hibernate causes select followed by an update statement

    Hi all, I have a mapped entity wich has an enum property. By loking at log file, whenever I run a select statement on such entity, the result is an immediately following update. For example if my result set contains 100 records, then I have: [INFO org... select...] [INFO org... update... where id=?] [INFO org... update... where id=?] .... repeated 100 times If I mark the property as update=false the problem disappear. The enum is assigned trough an enum converter class, which I copied from a well known book. So I don't know if I just copy and paste the code. Here it is how is declared on hbm file. <typedef class="mypackage.HbnEnumConverter" name="the_type"> <param name="enumClassname">mypackage.TheType</param> </typedef> Can you point out a direction to investigate this ? Beside, what are the consequences of having update=false on hibernate field ? thanks

    I have an export from a MYSQL database on a linux machine however when importing that database into MYSQL on windows all of the table names that were camel cased are now all lower case. The sql dump has the correct case in it but the importing via phpmyadmin seams to remove these. How can I import it and keep the case? Thanks

    Is it possible to get the duplicate count when executing MySQL "INSERT IGNORE" statement via JDBC? For example, when I execute an INSERT IGNORE statement on the mysql command line, and there are duplicates I get something like Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.02 sec) Records: 1 Duplicates: 1 Warnings: 0 Note where it says "Duplicates: 1", indicating that there were duplicates that were ignored. Is it possible to get the same information when executing the query via JDBC? Thanks.

    Hi, I was watching the Profiler on a live system of our application and I saw that there was an update instruction that we run periodically (every second) that was quite slow. It took around 400ms every time. The query includes this update (which is the slow part) UPDATE BufferTable SET LrbCount = LrbCount + 1, LrbUpdated = getdate() WHERE LrbId = @LrbId This is the table CREATE TABLE BufferTable( LrbId [bigint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, ... LrbInserted [datetime] NOT NULL, LrbProcessed [bit] NOT NULL, LrbUpdated [datetime] NOT NULL, LrbCount [tinyint] NOT NULL, ) The table has 2 indexes (non unique and non clustered) with the fields by this order: * Index1 - (LrbProcessed, LrbCount) * Index2 - (LrbInserted, LrbCount, LrbProcessed) When I looked at this I thought that the problem would come from Index1 since LrbCount is changing a lot and it changes the order of the data in the index. But after desactivating index1 I saw the query was taking the same time as initially. Then I rebuilt index1 and desactivated index2, this time the query was very fast. It seems to me that Index2 should be faster to update, the order of the data shouldn't change since the LrbInserted time is not changed. Can someone explain why index2 is much heavier to update then index1? Thank you!
