Hi,
Is it possible to find all the varchar() columns in my database?
I am using SQL Server 2008 and would like to get the list in SQL server management console.
JD.
I'm trying to create a web page where an user could manage diferent placemark. The management is based on create, drag and drop and delete placemarks. At the moment, I've achieved to create multiple placemarks and drag&drop them but I'm not able to delete it because I cannot identify them individually. I'm using the google earth api examples1 but I cannot find this functionality. I want to get the name of the different placemarks, any idea?
Is there any plugings or text editor to auto-complete SQL statement? I am using SQL Server Management Studio (ssms) 90% of time, but most of time I have to type SELECT FROM WITH(NOLOCK) WHERE blahblah. Trying to find a more efficient way. Thanks.
When I setup sql2005 this problem appear

The current system does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for this SQL Server release. For detailed hardware and software requirements, see the readme file or SQL Server Books Online.
and I continued setup but I couldnot found sql management studio tools in start menue
I have to start a new project where user authentication/management will be required.
A lot of websites use existing authentication mechanisms like facebook/twitter/openID/google/etc (even SO).
While I might understand that they are used to simplify some parts of this workflow can someone enumerate the pluses and minuses of using one of these authentication mechanisms vs. an usual user creation and what should I look for when I do this?
Thanks in advance!
We're currently using Acegi 0.5.2 plugin for Grails 1.2.1. However, we're going to move our user management to external CRM. What would be the best way to link existing Person domain with external CRM entity?
Before going into production, our client demands actual numbers of how many users our web application can handle.
We have all kinds of features implemented including asset management (file uploads/downloads), documents import/export, various statistics, web-services etc.
Which tool (or set of tools) could do this?
Application details:
XHTML/jQuery
Coldfusion 8
SQL Server 2008
Windows Server 2008
Here is the image for my solution Explorer. What i want is to use HR Management forms to b loaded through button click on a form of Classic Steel HR. So can anyone tell me how
We are developing a product for complete payroll management in c#.net. We want to get and display the attendance, leave and overtime (in hours/minutes) details of employees in a graphical form. Is there any third party control available for this?
hi. I am really having a problem about what to use as an alternative for web flow. I have read that not all functionalities should be handled by web flow. Only those which needs complex xstate management. For those easy stuffs like just login, editing or deleting records what will I use as an alternative for web flow?
Hi All,
According to the following section of BOL:
How to: Use Source Control with SQL Server Management Studio
If you have a source control client installed you should be able to choose it in the plug-in selection. I have both source control clients for Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 (tfs2005) installed and there's no plug-in to choose in the list for me.
I need to add a column to an existing table in my live sql database.
I know how to use the ALTER command, but what I want to know is the effect this has on the table.
For example,, if using SQL Management Studio, it claims that adding a column will "drop and recreate" the table.
Will the ALTER table command do that as well?
This table is CONSTANTLY accessed and VERY important so I want to make VERY sure of this before going forward.
I am using EF4 with Visual Studio 2010. I have a SQL database already created and all my columns are documented with the Description property in SQL management studio. When I create the edmx in Visual Studio, how can I make it read those descriptions and use them to add comments to my generated classes? I know I can use the Summary and LongDescription in the edmx properties but I'm looking for a way to do this without having to copy and paste every description.
Thanks!
Hi there,
How to get a script for all tables about all default constraints and indexes from an existing database?
SQL Server Management Studio produces SQL-Scripts with the create table statements and there is no option to dismiss it.
Peace

I have been learning C++ for a while now, I find it very powerful. But, the problem is the the level of abstraction is not much and I have to do memory management myself.
What are the languages that I can use which uses a higher level of abstraction.
If you have ever been fired from a job, did you notice anything different about the behavior of your peers or upper management just before your termination? What are some common signs to look for among your coworkers and project manager(s) that would indicate your position is severely at risk?
EDIT: My instincts were right, and I opted to resign rather than face termination. I guess when you have that "gut feeling" that something is about to happen, it's a strong sign that you should be heading for the exit...
I work for an ecommerce company, and we're gearing up to make some updates to our warehouse system. During a meeting we were asked if there are any viable solutions available that could be integrated into our current systems. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions, or experiences they could share.
Typical requirements:
inventory management
pick and pack shipping integration
with USPS and UPS returns
returns
Thanks in advanced
I'm using the standard gcc compiler in math software development with C-language. I don't know that much about compilers or compiler options, and I was just wondering, is it possible to make faster executables using another compiler or choosing better options? The default Makefile sets options -ffast-math and -O3 and I think both of them have some impact in the overall calculation time. My software is using memory quite extensively, so I imagine some options related to memory management might do the trick?
Any ideas?
What's your opinion about using #region folding using application semantic, instead of folding for "syntax".
For example:
#region Application Loop
#region User Management
#region This Kinf of stuffs
instead of
#region Private Routines
#region Public Properties
#region ThisRoutine // (Yes, I've seen this also!)
In this logic, I'm starting fold even routine bodies. I'm starting to love #region directive (even using #pragma region when using C++!).
Whe I call:
select * from Database.dbo.Table where NAME = 'cat'
It takes:
200 ms
And when I change database to Database in Management Studio and call it without fully qualified name it's much faster:
select * from Table where NAME = 'cat'
It takes:
17 ms
Is there any way to make fully qualified queries faster without changing database?
When you were starting to program, what was the hardest concept for you to grasp? Was it recursion, pointers, linked lists, assignments, memory management?
I was wondering what gave you headaches and how you overcame this issue and learned to love the bomb, I mean understand it.
EDIT: As a followup, what helped you grok your hard-to-grasp concept?
I have no idea if this is intended behaviour, but whenever the application exits (say, the user is double-clicking the home button and pressing on the red dash on the icon) I get the dreaded SIGKILL.
Now, when I try to launch the app again all I get is the old screen state and a frozen (I presume ?) program.
It could be because of clunky memory management, but NSZombieEnabled doesn't seem to agree.
Any thoughts ?
I have about 50 T-SQL files, some of them are 30MB but some of them are 700MB. I thought on executing them manually, but if the file is bigger than 10MB it throws an out of memory exception on the SQL Server Management Studio.
Any ideas?
For what x is
The expression x IS NOT NULL is not equal to NOT(x IS NULL), as is the case in 2VL
(quote from this answer, which is quoting Fabian Pascal Practical Issues in Database Management - A Reference for the Thinking Practitioner -- near the end of that answer)
My guess is when x IS NULL is NULL, but I cannot guess when that would be (i.e. I haven't checked the SQL standard).
