• Need help understanding "TypeError: default __new__ takes no parameters" error in python

  For some reason I am having trouble getting my head around __init__ and __new__. I have a bunch of code that runs fine from the terminal, but when I load it as a plugin for Google Quick Search Box, I get the error TypeError: default __new__ takes no parameters. I have been reading about the error, and it's kind of making my brain spin. As it stands I have 3 classes, with no sub-classes, each class has it's own defs. I never use def __init__ or def __new__, but I have gotten the distinct feeling that these are the functions (or the lack thereof) that would be giving me the error. I have no idea how to summarize the code down to a snippet that would be helpful here, since I'm a bit over my head, but the entire script can be found at github. Not expecting anyone to bugfix my code for me, I am just at my wit's end on this. A simple (plain english, not the quote from the python docs which I have read 20 times and still don't really understand) explination of why this error would pop up, or why I should be, or not be, using the __init__ and/or __new__ functions would be seriously appreciated. • iPhone SDK : UIImageView - Collapsing animation

  Hi All, I'm trying to animating across the screen a horizontal bar with a color gradient. For simplicity, I chose to make a png of the fully extended bar, assign it to a UIImageView, and (attempt to) animate resizing of it using a UIView animation. The problem is that in the "closed" state of the Image, the portion of the image showing is not the part that I want. The image is arranged so that from L to R, a white to red color gradient occurs. The right side (about 20 pixels) is solid red and is the part I want to show when the bar is "collapsed". I'm trying to extend the image out by about 100 pixels to its full width.   I created a custom UITableViewCell class with a UIButton, a UIImage, and two UILabels. The button and the image are overlayed on top of each other, and only one is displayed at a time. The expected behavior is you touch on the button, the button disappears, and it displays the image. The UITableViewCells are set to be reused.   I have some custom UITableViewCells that are made programmatically as needed, I want these to resize.   I'm having a problem with executing a stored procedure from Perl (using the DBI Module). If I execute a simple SELECT * FROM table there are no problems. However, the Perl will only return a new ID, (incrementing by 1 on each run). It also doesn't store the result in the database. It looks like it's executing a DELETE on the new id just after the update_current_stock_price function is run. Any help? Does Perl do anything funky to procedures I should know about? • SQL Server 2008, join or no join?

  Just a small question regarding joins. I have a table with around 30 fields and i was thinking about making a second table to store 10 of those fields. Then i would just join them in with the main data. The 10 fields that i was planning to store in a second table does not get queried directly, it's just some settings for the data in the first table. Something like: Table 1 Id Data1 Data2 Data3 etc ... Table 2 Id (same id as table one) Settings1 Settings2 Settings3 Is this a bad solution? Should i just use 1 table? How much performance inpact does it have? All entries in table 1 would also then have an entry in table 2. Small update is in order. Most of the Data fields are of the type varchar and 2 of them are of the type text. How is indexing treated? My plan is to index 2 data fields, email (varchar 50) and author (varchar 20). And yes, all records in Table 1 will have a record in Table 2. Most of the settings fields are of the bit type, around 80%. The rest is a mix between int and varchar. The varchars can be null.

All is well and good untill I actualy try to invoke methods on the new types. • iOS 5.0 AVAudioPlayer Error loading audio clip: The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -50.)

  So I'm trying to test out the audio player on the iPhone, and I went off Troy Brant's iOS book. I have the Core Audio, Core Foundation, AudioToolbox, and AVFoundation frameworks added to my project. The error message I get is in the subject field. I read like 20 pages of Google search results before resorting to asking here! /sigh. Thanks if you can help. The relation "companyRowByBuyFromCompanyFK" exists, as in Deals_SelectionChanged I can access companyRowByBuyFromCompanyFK property of the Deals row, and I also can access the CompanyName propert of that row. Is the reason why this is not working because XAML binding uses the [] indexer? Rather than properties on the CompanyRows in my DataTable? At the moment im getting values such as - TGS - 3 - TGS - 4 What would be the best way to accomplish this? Make a converter to convert foreign keys using Table being referenced as custom parameter. Create Table View for each table? This would be long winded as I have quite a large number of tables that have foreign keys.

  Hi, I've written a powershell script which removes folders more than 7 days old. It seems to be removing the folders, but for some reason its giving me errors. I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me why?   I'm using django-mptt to manage a simple CMS, with a model called Page, which looks like this (most presumably irrelevant fields removed): class Page(mptt.Model, BaseModel): title = models.CharField(max_length = 20) slug = AutoSlugField(populate_from = 'title') contents = models.TextField() parent = models.ForeignKey('self', null=True, blank=True, related_name='children', help_text = u'The page this page lives under.') removed fields are called attachments, headline_image, nav_override, and published All works fine using SQLite, but when I use MySQL and try and add a Page using the admin (or using ModelForms and the save() method), I get this: ProgrammingError at /admin/mycms/page/add/ (1110, "Column 'level' specified twice") where the SQL generated is: 'INSERT INTO `kaleo_page` (`title`, `slug`, `contents`, `nav_override`, `parent_id`, `published`, `headline_image_id`, `lft`, `rght`, `tree_id`, `level`, `lft`, `rght`, `tree_id`, `level`) VALUES (%s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s)' for some reason I'm getting the django-mptt fields (lft, rght, tree_id and level) twice. It works in SQLite presumably because SQLite is more forgiving about what it accepts than MySQL. get_all_field_names() also shows them twice: >>> Page._meta.get_all_field_names() ['attachments', 'children', 'contents', 'headline_image', 'id', 'level', 'lft', 'nav_override', 'parent', 'published', 'rght', 'slug', 'title', 'tree_id'] Which is presumably why the SQL is bad. What could I have done that would result in those fields appearing twice in get_all_field_names()?

• WPF Toolkit Datagrid - how do you turn selection off?

  I have a datagrid in WPF that I am binding to an object. I have a DataGridCheckBoxColumn on there which I want the users to be able to go through and tick the ones they want. Problem is they have to click twice, once for selection then again to check/uncheck. How on earth do you turn this off, I've been searching for way to long to find the answer to this. The datagrid has SelectionMode and SelectionUnit properties - neither of which accept 'none' or 'go away' Any help is appreciated!   Hi, I'm working on a program that detects circular shapes in images. I decided a Hough Transform would be the best, and I found one in the OpenCV library. The problem is that when I try to use it I get an error that I have no idea how to fix. Is OpenCV for Python not fully implemented? Is there a fix to the library I need for the program to work? • Finding JNP port in JBoss from Servlet

  I have a servlet running in JBoss (4.2.2.GA and 4.3-eap) that needs to connect to an EJB to do work. • open flash chart rails x-axis issue

  Hey guys, I am using open flash chart 2 in my rails application. Everything is looking smooth except for the range on my x axis. I am creating a line to represent cell phone plan cost over a specific amount of usage and I'm generate 8 values, 1-5 are below the allowed usage while 6-8 are demonstrations of the cost for usage over the limit. The problem I'm encountering is how to set the range of the X axis in ruby on rails to something specific to the data. Right now the values being displayed are the indexes of the array that I'm giving. When I try to hand a hash to the values the chart doesn't even load at all. So basically I need help getting a way to set the data for my line properly so that it displays correctly, right now it is treating every value as if it represents the x value of the index of the array.   Hey guys, i've got a problem debugging an iphone app that i'm attempting to write and it's got me stumped, bear with me, i'm a n00b to programming and might get some of the terminology wrong but i'll try to explain it as best as i can. The app gets an XML doc from the a web site, parses it into an array, and then displays it in a table view, i have the parser in a separate file. The ViewDidLoad in RootViewController sends it a url, the parser goes to work and then returns an NSMutableArray. When i run the app it works fine with small XML files (5 entries or so, and 1-3 sections), but when i use a larger one(20+ rows, over 12 sections) i get the error "-[CFString length]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x3881940" when i scroll near the bottom of the tableview, just as the last section title is about to come onto the viewable area on the screen to be precise. if i return a static string instead of the object in my array in this method it doesn't crash, but i can use NSLog to call the array and it returns the title no problems. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)indexPath { return [[returnedEvents objectAtIndex:indexPath ] objectAtIndex:0]; } The returnedEvents array isn't released until -(void) dealloc {} I have read a few other posts on here, and a few guides on debugging and as of yet am unable to find anything that was able to help me, i'd be more than happy to post some code up here and any more information, i'm just not sure where to start...   Hello everyone, I am looking for a map/reduce function to calculate the status in a Design Document. Right now my Map Function looks like this: function(doc) { if(doc.urls){ emit(doc._id, doc.urls) } } And my Reduce Function function(key, value, rereduce){ var reduced_status = "retrieved" for(var url in value){ if(url.status=="new"){ reduced_status = "new"; } } return reduced_status; } The result is that I get retrieved everywhere which is definitely not right. I tried to narrow down the problem and it seems to be that value is no array, when I use the following Reduce Function I get length 1 everywhere, which is impossible because I have 12 documents in my database, each containing between 20 to 200 urls function(key, value, rereduce){ return value.length; } What am I doing wrong? (I know I want you to write code for me and I'm feeling guilty, but right now I do the calculation of the statuses in ruby after getting the data from the database. It would be nice to already get the right data from the database)
