  • Sparse checkouts and svn:externals

    - by JesperE
I'm trying to do a sparse checkout of a folder containing externals, but none of the externals are being checked out. This issue seems to indicate that this behavior may be by design, or at least that it isn't clear what the behavior should be. From my point of view, the obvious behavior is that externals are treated just as any other directory, and checked out following the same sparse checkout rules. Is there a way to work around this except manually checking out the externals?

  • lisp, differences in assignment functions

    - by johnc
I'm pretty new to lisp, so apologies for what may be a simple question, Whilst I understand the difference between DEFVAR and DEFPARAMETER (defvar only sets undefined variables), and the LET is for local scope only, what is the is the use of SETF as opposed to the other, previously mentioned assignment functions?

  • remove/ignore float from outer div

    - by acidzombie24
This may sound weird but i have some css which aligns mys divs. In one place i also use http://www.brunildo.org/test/img_center.html which centers images. Now i want my divs inside a larger div to go to another line if this one gets full. float: left seems to be the answer. The problem is it ruins my formatting. Including solution in the above link. I have this test code. If i remove the width and float it looks fine except it may take up too much space and not go to another line. I was thinking i could use float on an outerdiv and center the image within. However float: left is still breaking it. I am hoping there is a way to remove the float so each div does go left but the div inside centers correctly not breaking my formatting. <style type="text/css"> .wraptocenter { display: table-cell; text-align: center; vertical-align: middle; width: 200px; height: 200px; background: blue; } .wraptocenter * { vertical-align: middle; } /*\*//*/ .wraptocenter { display: block; } .wraptocenter span { display: inline-block; height: 100%; width: 1px; } /**/ div.c { background: red; overflow: hidden; min-width: 400px; max-width: 400px; } div.c div { float: left; } </style> <!--[if lt IE 8]><style> .wraptocenter span { display: inline-block; height: 100%; } </style><![endif]--> <div class="c"> <div> <div> <div class="wraptocenter"><span></span><img src="a.jpg" alt="/a.jpg"></div> <div class="wraptocenter"><span></span><img src="a.jpg" alt="/a.jpg"></div> <div class="wraptocenter"><span></span><img src="a.jpg" alt="/a.jpg"></div> </div></div></div>

  • Custom Error page | Redirect type =301?

    - by FlopScientist
I guess this may be a novice question ( Which I am :) ). While redirecting user to custom error page, for e.g. 404, to tell that page wasn't found, the type of this redirect is 302. <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" /> <error statusCode="400" redirect="/Utility/Error404.aspx" /> Is it possible to make this redirect 301 through Web.config? Thanks in advance to you all code maniacs.

If you want to some code to execute based on two or more conditions which is the best way to format that if statement ? first example:- if(ConditionOne && ConditionTwo && ConditionThree) { Code to execute } Second example:- if(ConditionOne) { if(ConditionTwo ) { if(ConditionThree) { Code to execute } } } which is easiest to understand and read bearing in mind that each condition may be a long function name or something.

  • Planning to create PDF files in Ruby on Rails

    - by deau
Hi there, A Ruby on Rails app will have access to a number of images and fonts. The images are components of a visual layout which will be stored separately as a set of rules. The rules specify document dimensions along with which images are used and where. The app needs to take these rules, fetch the images, and generate a PDF that is ready for local printing or emailing. The fonts will also be important. The user needs to customize the layout by inputting text which will be included in the PDF. The PDF must therefore also contain the desired font so that the document renders identically across different machines. Each PDF may have many pages. Each page may have different dimensions but this is not essential. Either way, the ability to manipulate the dimensions and margins given by the PDF is essential. The only thing that needs to be regularly changed is the text. If this is takes too much development then the app can store the layouts in 3rd party PDFs and edit the textual content directly. Eventually though, this will prove too restrictive on the apps intended functionality so I would prefer the app to generate the PDF's itself. I have never worked with PDFs before and, for the most part, I've never had to output anything to the user outside their monitor. A printed medium could require a very different approach to get the best results. If anyone has any advice on how to model the PDF format this it would be really appreciated. The technical aspects of printing such as bleed, resolution and colour have already been factored in to the layouts and images. I am aware that PDF is a proprietary file format and I want to use free or open source software. I have seen a number of Ruby libraries for generating PDF files but because I am new on this scene I have no way to reliably compare them and too little time to implement and test them all. I also have the option of using C to handle this feature and if this is process intensive then that might be preferred. What should I be thinking about and how should I be planning to implement this?

  • Backbone View: Inherit and extend events from parent

    - by brent
    Backbone's documentation states: The events property may also be defined as a function that returns an events hash, to make it easier to programmatically define your events, as well as inherit them from parent views. How do you inherit a parent's view events and extend them? Parent View var ParentView = Backbone.View.extend({ events: { 'click': 'onclick' } }); Child View var ChildView = ParentView.extend({ events: function(){ ???? } });

I don't mean to start a holy war here, but I cannot fathom why would anybody use Visual Basic for a new project. Can you explain me why is it used? What new applications (which a lay person may be familiar with) have been developed in it? Why is it chosen over other languages? Thanks.

  • How could I pass the float number by value in obj-c?

    - by user313439
    - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application{ // Override point for customization after application launch [window makeKeyAndVisible]; [self printFloat:1.3f]; } - (void)printFloat:(float)f { NSLog(@"%f",f); } I passed the "1.3f" to printFloat, but it was the wrong value (in this case, -2.000000) after "f" received. And there is a warning that "AppDelegate may not respond to -printFloat:" Where did I get it wrong? Thanks.

Hi there, I have a Classic ASP shopping cart, but I need to add in an option to enter a promo code and (if valid) apply a discount to the total. There is a promo codes table that stores the promotional codes and the value of the discount to apply. So I was wondering if someone might be able to help me integrate this? Happy to pay for the time. I think it may only take an hour or so at most. :S

  • C99 variable length automatic array performance

    - by aaa
Is there significant cpu/memory overhead associated with using automatic arrays with g++/Intel on 64-bit x86 linux platform? int function(int N) { double array[N]; overhead compared to allocating array before hand (assuming function is called multiple times) overhead compared to using new overhead compared to using malloc The range of N may be from 1kb to 16kb roughly, stack overrun is not a problem.
