• Pull/Clone a svn repository into hg with new default branch name?

  I'm forking a project's SVN repo and need to integrate into my Mercurial repo. To keep things simple I have a local hgsubversion repo and a local hg repo. However both the mercurial and hgsubversion repo uses default as their default branch name. My goal here is to put the original code and updates on one branch and my code on the default branch However I have yet to be able to do this. Is there any suggestions on how to pull changes from an SVN repo and rename the branch to something else?

• Calling an svn update from a php script via a browser is not working

  Hey guys, I have two scripts. running an update and calling shell_exec('svn update') and shell_exec('svn st') running a mysqldump shell_exec('mysqldump params') The svn script is not running the update command, the svn st is printing results but not the svn update I tried to declare parameters when calling svn update eg 'svn update ' . dir . ' --username myuser --password mypasswd --non-interactive'; -- still nothing Played with most of the params If this is something related to binaries/permissions/groups, I don't see it. The mysqldump command works fine and is producing a file, so why isn't the svn updating the filesystem? Please do not advise using core SVN classes in PHP. This is not an option, I don't have complete control over the server and the module is not available. Thanks for your help, -hbt PS: important thing to mention here. The scripts works when called via the command line. It only fails when called via a web browser.

• Rails runner command not saving to cache

  Hi I'm having a bit of a problem with a cron task generated by rails whenever plugin that should store remote data in the rails cache for display. What I have is this: schedule.rb set :path, '/var/www/apps/tuexplore/current' every 1.hour do runner "Weather.cache_remote", :environment => :production end calls this model class Weather def self.cache_remote Rails.cache.write('weather_data', Net::HTTP.get_response(URI.parse(WEATHER_URL)).body) end end Calling whenever returns this PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/home/deploy/.gem/ruby/1.8/bin 0 * * * * /var/www/apps/tuexplore/current/script/runner -e production "Weather.cache_remote" This doesn't work. Calling the weather model method from a controller works fine, but I need to schedule it hourly. The cron task causes a "Cache write: weather_data" entry to appear in the production log but data isn't stored nor output into the page. Additional information, I can log into production console and run Weather.cache_remote, then read the data from the rails cache. I'd be really appreciative if someone could point out the error of my ways. If further explanation is needed please ask. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

  I'm not sure if the title properly explains what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to move from using SQL Reporting Services to a Crystal Reports Web App. I've gotten some reports to design properly because they are simple cross-tab reports that require nothing special. I'm running into a little problem of a user matrix report. Here's how the report looks on SQL Reporting Services: group1 group2 group3 username1 first1 last1 title1 X X username2 first2 last2 title2 X X 2 1 1 Normally in VS2008 with a SQL rdl, I would right click on the row and Insert Column. However, i don't see a way to do this in Crystal Reports. I've tried setting up multiple row groups, but that adds mutliple groupings like: group1 Total ... Username Total ... first Total ... last ...

• Expandable listview with selectall checkbox : group itemclick and scrolling bug

  I have an ExpandableListView with a checkbox next to group name and when expanded, child items with checkbox as well. Let's suppose I have 4 groups with 50 childs. When a group is expanded, and I click on select all checkbox, everything works fine, all checkbox are selected and keep their state if I scroll. But if I scroll untill the last child of the list, scrolling gets buggy after that ( scrolling to the top and then touching the screen to stop the scrolling doesn't work anymore), clicking on group doesn't work anymore too, untill I click on selectall checkbox again. Clicking on a child checkbox does nothing, I must click on selectall checkbox for everything to work. I changed Focusable state of the child checkbox, group checkbox and tried many ways, but I can not find a solution to this. Do you have an idea of where it is coming from?

• lightweight/portable VCS for server-hopping DBA?

  I'm looking for a VCS that'll help me keep all of my work scripts in-sync. Requirements: Portable (as in flash drive, not code-level) Run on Windows XP and Server 2003+ No installation dependencies (Cygwin, perl, Python) I use Mercurial on my work machine for version control of the various T-SQL, ksh, perl, and CMD/BAT scripts that I maintain as a MS SQL Server DBA and Unix sysadmin. So far, hg has worked for my AIX boxes- I mount my home directory as I login, and deal with the repo as if it were local. I haven't been able to find a similar solution for the Windows machines I use. Most of them I do not have Local Admin rights; even if I did, I'd rather not install (and maintain) Python + Mercurial on all of them. I can't get to my home directory on them remotely, which leaves a client running on each machine as the only option. Bonus points for an answer that would let me use a single repo for both the Windows and Unix machines. :) I'm running WinXP, with heavy use of Cygwin and a CrunchBang VM.

  Hi All I am working with the new version of boost 1.42 and I want to use regex with named sub groups. The traditional way is std::string result( mtch["VAL"].first, mtch["VAL"].second ); but i don't want to use this way. I want to use the name of the subgroups as usual in Perl and in regex in general. • ListViewGroup not sorting correctly

  I'm using a ListView control in a C# WinForms application. Items in the list are added to a ListViewGroup (in this case, grouping by country). The one thing that isn't working as expected is that the column sorting appears to be strange. I've hooked into the ListViewItemSorter property of the ListView and everything sorts perfectly except when the country column is sorted in descending order (that is, Z-A). Regardless of how the list sort occurs the groups show in ascending order. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction? EDIT: FWIW, .NET 3.5 on Vista.

• Storing date/times as UTC in database

  I am storing date/times in the database as UTC and computing them inside my application back to local time based on the specific timezone. Say for example I have the following date/time: 01/04/2010 00:00 Say it is for a country e.g. UK which observes DST (Daylight Savings Time) and at this particular time we are in daylight savings. When I convert this date to UTC and store it in the database it is actually stored as: 31/03/2010 23:00 As the date would be adjusted -1 hours for DST. This works fine when your observing DST at time of submission. However, what happens when the clock is adjusted back? When I pull that date from the database and convert it to local time that particular datetime would be seen as 31/03/2009 23:00 when in reality it was processed as 01/04/2010 00:00. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't this a bit of a flaw when storing times as UTC? Example of Timezone conversion Basically what I am doing is storing the date/times of when information is being submitted to my system in order to allow users to do a range report. • Parallel.Foreach loop creating multiple db connections throws connection errors?

  Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication I wanted to get my code running in parallel, so I changed my foreach loop to a parallel foreach loop. It seemed simple enough. Each loop connects to the database, looks up some stuff, performs some logic, adds some stuff, closes the connection. But I get the above error? I'm using my local sql server and entity framework (each loop uses it's own context). Is there some problem with connecting multiple times using the same local login or something? How did I get around this? I have (before trying to covert to a parallel.foreach loop) split my list of objects that I am foreach looping through into four groups (separate csv files) and run four concurrent instances of my program (which ran faster overall than just one, thus the idea for parallel). So it seems connecting to the db shouldn't be a problem? Any ideas?   I need to parse some large text file and extract Display name and area code only if it matches the following pattern: Line starts with display name (any number of words) Followed by 6 digits (can contain spaces) Followed by #text tag e.g. John doe 123 456 #text some text Display name: John doe Area code: 123 456 Test 123456 #text Display name: Test Area code: 123456 Test 123 #test Invalid, area code contains only 3 digits Test 123456 #test1 Invalid, contains invalid tag Test 123g45 #test Invalid, area code contains letters etc. I know how to open the text file and read it line by line, but having trouble with writing the regular expression. • Replicating Active Directory - testing scenarios

  Replicating a production server's Active Directory is possible through a number of approaches as mentioned here and here. I'm looking for a simpler approach if one exists. I have a mixed-mode authentication site that I need to test. Quite simply AD users (internal) will have more privilege's than someone who logs in via forms (external). We have a web service that cache's an AD structure (users & groups). I'm thinking of building a module (http handler I guess?) that will pick up my specially formed URL (http://impersonateduser@localhost/mywebapp) and use the bit before the @ as the username. That will be the username I use for any subsequent operations. How does that sound? Has anyone got other proposals for testing scenarios like this?

• Lost in dates and timezones

  I'm working on an application that stores conferences with their start and end date. Up until now, I was developing in Belgium and my server is in France, so everything is in the same timezone, no problem. But today, I'm in San Francisco, my server is in France and I noticed I have a bug. I'm setting dates from a Flex client (ActionScript automatically adapts date display according to client local timezone, which is GMT-8 for me today. My server runs on Hibernate and MySQL in France (GMT+1). So when I look at my database using phpMyAdmin, I see a date set to "2010-06-07 00:00:01" but in my Flex client it displays "2010-06-06 15:00:01". Ultimately, what I want is that the dates are displayed in the local timezone of the event, which is the date I set it to. So when I'm in Belgium and I set the start date of an event to be "2010-06-07 00:00:01" I want to retrieve it that way. But I'm lost as to what layer adapts what. Is timezone stored in DATETIME MySQL columns (I can't see it in MySQL)? Does Hibernate to anything to it when it transfers it to java.lang.Date that has Timezone information? And ultimately, what is the best way to solve this mess?

• Error HRESULT E_FAIL when creating Exchange mailbox (CDOEXM.IMailboxStore.CreateMailbox)

  I am trying to automate the process of creating an Exchange Mailbox for AD users and am running into an issue. When calling the CreateMailbox method I am receiving the error "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component". I have installed and referenced the Exchange Management Tools and am using impersonation for permissions. • how to modify a json array with jQuery

  I have the following json array of objects in my code var groups = [ { "gid": 28, "name": "Group 1", "ishidden": false, "isprivate": false }, { "gid": 16, "name": "Group 2", "ishidden": true, "isprivate": false }, { "gid": 31, "name": "Group 3", "ishidden": true, "isprivate": false }, { "gid": 11, "name": "Group 4", "ishidden": false, "isprivate": false }, { "gid": 23, "name": "Group 5", "ishidden": false, "isprivate": false } ]; I can access or iterate through this with no problm using jQuery. However a situation arose where I need to change a value of one of the items (e.g. change the ishidden property to true for gid: 28) and then run some other jQuery function against it. Is this possible? or do I have to re-build the whole object ? If possible, how can I achieve this? any help would be appreciated!

In my struggling, I already managed to avoid the javax.naming.NameNotFoundException by: 1. using in java new InitialContext().lookup(connection); instead of new JndiObjectFactoryBean().setJndiName(connection); 2. changing the connection name from: 'jndi-name' to 'java:jndi-name' Now the problem is that the datasouce that I get from the lookup is null. • WPF: Binding an integer to a TextBlock with TemplateBinding

  I have a custom control in WPF. In this I have a DependencyProperty of the type integer. In the template for the custom control I have a TextBlock, I and would like to show the value of the integer in the TextBlock. But I can't get it to work. I'm using TemplateBinding. If I use the same code but change the type of the DependencyProperty to string it works fine. But I really want it to be an integer for the rest of my application to work. How can I do this? I've written simplified code that shows the problem. • Secure Copy File from remote server via scp and os module in Python

  I'm pretty new to Python and programming. I'm trying to copy a file between two computers via a python script. However the code os.system("ssh " + hostname + " scp " + filepath + " " + user + "@" + localhost + ":" cwd) won't work. I think it needs a password, as descriped in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?. I didn't get any error logs, the file just won't show in my current working directory. However every other command with os.system("ssh " + hostname + "command") or os.popen("ssh " + hostname + "command") does work. - command = e.g. ls When I try ssh hostname scp file user@local:directory in the commandline it works without entering a password. I tried to combine os.popen commands with getpass and pxssh module to establish a ssh connection to the remote server and use it to send commands directly (I only tested it for an easy command): import pxssh import getpass ssh = pxssh.pxssh() ssh.force_password = True hostname = raw_input("Hostname: ") user = raw_input("Username: ") password = getpass.getpass("Password: ") ssh.login(hostname, user, password) test = os.popen("hostname") print test But I'm not able to put commands through to the remote server (print test shows, that hostname = local and not the remote server), however I'm sure, the conection is established. I thought it would be easier to establish a connection than always use "ssh " + hostname in the bash commands. I also tried some of the workarounds in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?, but I must admit due to lack of expirience I didn't get them to work. The second file gr1.xml contains something like this: <item name="i1">Item one</item> <item name="i2">Item two</item> <item name="i3">Item three</item> Note that there is no XML declaration in gr1.xml, just plain items without single parent node. So… Which is the best way to replace <group/> with its <item/>s? I have already tried some things like manual enclosing of gr1.xml content into a single node with XML declaration and loading it into XmlDocument, but it doesn't look like a good solution.

• Rake db:migrate returns "rake aborted! no such file to load -- spec"

  For some reason, out of no where, rails began giving me an error on "rake db:migrate", and I can no longer run migrations. It returns the error "no such file to load -- spec /home/ti/rails_apps/appname/Rakefile:10" I've spent two hours searching google for answers, trying to figure this out, but to no avail. What could be the problem? • Creating a ListView/TreeView using Category (Control Panel-Like) View

  I currently have an application which uses a regular ListView with groups to show a bunch of modules. I would like to use a Category view. Category view is the new view introduced in Windows Vista for the Control Panel: Is there a third party control or a way (via API) to create a ListView which mimics the behavior of the Windows 7 Control Panel? Categories with icons and action links. Separate events for Category Click and Action Click. One or two column layout Separators between action links or lines EDIT: Seems like Windows is using a TreeView (SysTreeView32) control internally for this.
