  I have a view that does 1 simple thing: draws an image. I can rotate the image like this: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation((CGFloat)radians); self.transform = transform; // WORKS: DRAWS, ROTATES But if I delegate the image-drawing function to a subview, and apply the rotation transform to the subview: CGAffineTransform transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation((CGFloat)radians); self.imageView.transform = transform; // DOESN'T WORK: DRAWS, BUT NO ROTATE I get the image drawn, but no rotation. Why? FWIW the "self" view is an MKAnnotationView.

• Ajaxing a link in a table

  I have a table of results in an ASP.Net MVC page where the last column is an View Details link. I want to have the user click the View Details link and an AJAX method be called to open the results in floating dialog. What I am struggling with is how to link the AJAX call to the link in the results table. I was using a link which embedded the ~/ControllerName/ViewDetails/InstanceId link directly in it. Clicking it took the user to a new page and it is this behaviour I want to replace with an AJAX call and a dialog window. Now I want to attach a jQuery handler to the link to trigger the AJAX call and I can't see how to do this other than write an jQuery handler for each row in the results table. There must be a way to mark the link as an ViewDetails link (using a class?) and attach the jQuery click handler to all instances of type class ViewDetails.

• Sharing a UIView between UIViewControllers in a UITabBarController

  Hi all - I have a UIScrollView that houses a gallery of images the user can scroll through. This view needs to be visible on each of three separate UIViewControllers that are housed within a UITabBarController. Right now, I have three separate UIScrollView instances in the UITabBarController subclass, and the controller manages keeping the three synchronized (when a user scrolls the one they can see, programmatically scrolling the other two to match, etc.), which is not ideal. I would like to know if there is a way to work with only ONE instance of the UIScrollView, but have it show up only in the UIViewController that the user is currently interacting with. This would completely eliminate all the synchronization code. Is there something that can be done, using a many-to-one relationship on IBOutlet or something like that, to narrow this down to one instance so I'm not having to manage three scroll views? I tried keeping a single instance and moving the pointer from one view to the next using the UITabBarControllerDelegate methods (calling setGallery:nil on the current and setGallery:scrollerOne on the next each time it changed), but the scroller never moved to the other tabs.   Try as I might, I cannot get this to work. Here is my latest attempt. Can someone clue me in as to why this does not work? In a method which is called by my view controller's init method: UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed: @"window22.png"]; UITabBarItem *item = [[UITabBarItem alloc] initWithTitle: @"Some Title" image: image tag: 0]; self.tabBarItem = item; All it does is put a big square where the image should be. The title in the tab bar remains the same as the view controller's title. Everything is being instantiated programmatically here, including the tab bar controller.

I come from a StarTeam background and we used view labels and release labels to manage multiple overlapping projects. View labels geared more towards compiled code and SQL and the revision labels were used for VB/ASP projects. • application: didFinishLaunchingWithOptions doesn't execute, but RootViewController: viewDidLoad does

  I'm playing around with the iPad SplitView template and it was working fine before I started swapping out view objects in my RootViewController. When it was working fine, the application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method would be called and would setup my persistant store objects, then the RootViewController:viewDidLoad method would be called to populate my rootView with data from my store. I opened up IB and started swapping out view objects in my RootView and now the application:didFinishLaunchingWithOptions method never gets called, but the RootViewController:viewDidLoad method still does. Obviously, the app crashes because the viewDidLoad method depends on the successful execution of the didFinishLauchingWIthOptions method to setup the persistent store objects. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is causing this or how I can go about investigating what's causing this? I'm obviously new to iPhone OS development, so I apologize if this questions is absurd in any way. Thanks so much in advance for your help!

• Why Html.DropDownListFor requires extra cast?

  In my controller I create a list of SelectListItems and store this in the ViewData. When I read the ViewData in my View it gives me an error about incorrect types. If I manually cast the types it works but seems like this should happen automatically. Can someone explain? • Run both Authorize Filter and Action Filter on unauthenticated ASP.NET MVC request

  I have decorated my base controller with a couple of action filters. They work fine. One of those filters sets up the request - does things like set the culture based on the domain, etc. I also have a handful of actions that require authorization using the Authorize attribute. My problem is that when an user attempts to request a page they are not authorized to access, the authorization filter kicks in and redirects them to a page telling them that they cannot vie the page. The issue is that the action filters never run so the culture and other request data is never set. This effectively causes language to be wrong in the view and other data to be missing. I know that authorization filters run first but my question is this: How can I design this such that I can ensure that certain methods are always run before the view is returned, regardless of the authorization. Hope that makes sense.

What I would like is to have the scroller bar outside of my rounded table view, shown in the image link below, but clip the cell separators. • didSelectRowAtIndexPath TableView Popover Issue

  I've tried a lot of different code examples including just brute force try this try that but, stumped. The popover left arrow seems to display just fine if the first row is displayed at the very top of the table view but, when the table scrolls down the popover left arrow doesn't align correctly with the table row selected. Solutions or suggestions would be most appreciated.   Actually, a UITableView is a UIScrollView (inherits from that). Now, I made a UITableView subclass and added this line of code to it: - (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { NSLog(@"contentOffset: %@", NSStringFromCGPoint(self.contentOffset)); } For some reason this is never called when I scroll the table view. But since UITableView has a delegate property on it's own, I assume that it must implement UIScrollViewDelegate protocol and is the delegate for the scroll view itself. Isn't it? How could I intercept scroll position changes? I want to read them only. Probably I couldn't set them with contentOffset, right?

  When performing a schema compare having db_owner rights on the target database results in the following error: The user does not have permission to perform this action. Using the SQL Server Profiler I figured out this error occurs executing a query targeting the master db view: [sys].[dm_database_encryption_keys] While specifically ignoring all object types but Tables one would presume the SQL Compare doesn't need access to the db encryption keys. Also note: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vstsdb/thread/c11a5f8a-b9cc-454f-ba77-e1c69141d64b/ One solution would be to GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE to the db user, but in my case I'm not hosting the database services and won't get the rights to the server state. • RDLC - Adding a Data Source in VS2010

  Greetings. I have an RDLC file and am wanting to add a data source to it, although without any luck so far. The data source is a custom class written by myself (just to add, we do this all the time). We recently converted over to the VS2010 RDLC format which caused some problems, but we've made some changes to our implementation that workaround the more major issues. So, back to the issue at hand, when I attempt to add my data source to the DummyDataSource list in the RDLC view in VS2010 it just does nothing, however it does add the data source to the list of data sources, but you can't select it from the drop-down list in the RDLC view which means I can't add the data source at all. Has anyone come across this problem? Is there anything I need to check? I've searched with fervour and had no luck.

Everything works fine so far but I'm curious why PagingToolbar does not have an option to use parent Grid store? • How can I detect touch events on a UIImageView inside a deep hierarchy of UIViews?

  I am developing a simple game on iPhone and I started with a View based application, and through the UIViewController I am loading a custom UIView that contains some more UIViews and some UIImageViews. I want to detect touch events on some of the UIImageViews, but I wasn't able so far. I've created a second project for testing purposes and figured that UIImageViews handle touch events when the hierarchy is like : UIViewController - UIView - UIImageView, but when it's like : UIViewController - UIView - UIView - UIImageView they are not detected. Notes: - userInteractionEnabled is YES in all cases - all UIViews and UIImageViews I mention above are custom subclasses. Can you think of any reason why, when a custom UIImageView gets deeper in the view hierarchy can't receive touch events?

  Having tried a number of different solutions I keep coming back to this. I need a Window.ShowDialog, using the ViewModelLocator class as a factory via a UnityContainer. Basically I have a View(and ViewModel) which on a button press on the the view needs to create a dialog (taking a couple of parameters in its constructor) that will process some logic and eventally return a result to the caller (along with the results of all the logic it computed). Maybe I'm wrong for stilll looking at this from a Windows Forms perspective, but I know exactly what I want to do and I want to ideally do it using WPF and MVVM. I'm trying to make this work for a project, and ultimately don't want to have to go back to vanilla WPF in order to make it work.

• How do I change the frame position for a custom MKAnnotationView?

  I am trying to make a custom annotation view by subclassing MKAnnotationView and overriding the drawRect method. I want the view to be drawn offset from the annotation's position, somewhat like MKPinAnnotationView does it, so that the point of the pin is at the specified coordinates, rather than the middle of the pin. So I set the frame position and size as shown below. However, it doesn't look like I can affect the position of the frame at all, only the size. The image ends up being drawn centered over the annotation position. Any tips on how to achieve what I want? • Saving custom attributes in NSAttributedString

  I need to add a custom attribute to the selected text in an NSTextView. So I can do that by getting the attributed string for the selection, adding a custom attribute to it, and then replacing the selection with my new attributed string. So now I get the text view's attributed string as NSData and write it to a file. Later when I open that file and restore it to the text view my custom attributes are gone! After working out the entire scheme for my custom attribute I find that custom attributes are not saved for you. Look at the IMPORTANT note here: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Cocoa/Conceptual/AttributedStrings/Tasks/RTFAndAttrStrings.html So I have no idea how to save and restore my documents with this custom attribute. Any help?
