    I just started playing with Django today and so far am finding it rather difficult to do simple things. What I'm struggling with right now is filtering a list of status types. The StatusTypes model is: class StatusTypes(models.Model): status = models.CharField(max_length=50) type = models.IntegerField() def __unicode__(self): return self.status class Meta: db_table = u'status_types' In one admin page I need all the results where type = 0 and in another I'll need all the results where type = 1 so I can't just limit it from within the model. How would I go about doing this?

  • Can I have a shell alias evaluate a history substitution command?

    I'm trying to write an alias for cd !!:1, which takes the 2nd word of the previous command, and changes to the directory of that name. For instance, if I type rails new_project cd !!:1 the second line will cd into the "new_project" directory. Since !!:1 is awkward to type (even though it's short, it requires three SHIFTed keys, on opposite sides of of the keyboard, and then an unSHIFTed version of the key that was typed twice SHIFTed), I want to just type something like cd- but since the !!:1 is evaluated on the command line, I (OBVIOUSLY) can't just do alias cd-=!!:1 or I'd be saving an alias that contained "new_project" hard-coded into it. So I tried alias cd-='!!:1' The problem with this is that the !!:1 is NEVER evaluated, and I get a message that no directory named !!:1 exists. How can I make an alias where the history substitution is evaluated AT THE TIME I ISSUE THE ALIAS COMMAND, not when I define the alias, and not never? (I've tried this in both bash and zsh, and get the same results in both.)

  • How can you determine when the user scrolls to the bottom of a DataGridView?

    I am writing a C# Windows Forms Application in Visual Studio 2008. I have a DataGridView with a lot of data in it. I would like to initially only populate 10,000 rows and add more only when the user scrolls to the bottom. I am handling the DataGridView's Scroll event, but it never seems to raise with the ScrollEventArgs.Type property set to Last, which is the condition I think I need to catch to add more rows. I have read about people having bad experiences with the DataGridView.Scroll event (e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/785200/datagridview-scroll-event-and-scrolleventtype-endscroll), but the solution provided (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/472389/how-can-i-receive-the-scroll-box-type-scroll-events-from-a-datagridview/767603#767603) only adds the ScrollEventArgs.Type property to come back as EndScroll, not Last like I need. Does anybody know how to get the event to raise properly, or another way to accomplish this task?

    Does anybody know where I can find documentation on how to write annotation schemas for Callisto? I'm looking to write something a little more complicated than I can generate from a DTD -- that only gives me the ability to tag different kinds of text mentions. I'm looking to create a schema that represents a single type of relationship between five or six different kinds of textual mentions (and some of these types of mentions have attributes that I need to assign values to), and possibly having a second type of relationship between the first two instances of the first type of relationship. (Alternatively, does anybody know of any software that would be better for this kind of schema? I've been looking at WordFreak, but it's a little clumsy, and it doesn't support attributes on its textual mentions.)

  • Why eGet() in EMF returns Object rather than EObject?

    I am working on some code using the EMF framework in Java, but it is really hard to use, e.g. I cannot implement OCL-like query API on top of EMF which would be type-safe. One of the reasons is that eGet() for a EStructuralFeature return just an Object, not EObject. So anything I would write must use much of null checking, type checking and type casting which is unsafe, not performant and cannot be generalized in a reusable way. Why doesn't EMF generate dummy implementations with EObject wrappers for arbitrary Object value? Implementing the EObject and hence the EClass interfaces even with simple throw UnsupportedOperationException is really a pain (the APIs are too big). The same holds for the eContainer() method which makes navigatinng the model upwards painful.

    Using MVC3 and Ajax.BeginForm I surprisingly discovered that mvc ajax forms submits elements with the attribute disabled="disabled". I have tested both select and text inputs. I was suprised because they should not be submited and they will not when using Html.BeginForm. Is there some hidden option or a workaround for this?   • What is your strategy to avoid dynamic typing errors in Python (NoneType has no attribute x)?

    Python is one of my favorite languages, but I really have a love/hate relationship with it's dynamicness. Apart from the advantages, it often results in me forgetting to check a type, trying to call an attribute and getting the NoneType (or any other) has no attribute x error. A lot of them are pretty harmless but if not handled correctly they can bring down your entire app/process/etc. Over time I got better predicting where these could pop up and adding explicit type checking, but because I'm only human I miss one occasionally and then some end-user finds it. So I'm interested in your strategy to avoid these. Do you use type-checking decorators? Maybe special object wrappers? Please share...

  • How do I change the default for the "df" command in the Unix terminal from KILOBYTES TO MEGABYTES?

    I can't really show the code in Unix, but I can explain it very clearly. In the terminal, when you type "df", you get information on the disk free space all in KILOBYTE units. KILOBYTES is currently set as the default in Unix. My problem is trying to change the default from KILOBYTES to MEGABYTES. After changing of the default, I should be able to type in "df" and all the disk free space should come up in MEGABYTES.

If i type http://127.0.0.1 in my browser url, it works fine, but after typing: http://localhost, i will get a file download window, saying file type as: application/x-httpd-php And in my httpd.conf file, i have the following under VirtualHost *:80 definition: ServerName localhost DocumentRoot E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Directory E:\zend\Apache2\htdocs\my_project\public Perhaps some configuration problem... can anyone guide me..

  • Linux Fiber Channel Host Setup Basic

    I've been googling for about 4 hours now with no luck. I am trying to setup a Linux server running Oracle Server 6.3 as a Fiber Channel host. And then connect it to a Dell Compellent Fibre Channel Host contain a 500GB Volume. The Oracle server itself contains two Brocade 815 FC HBAs. I've discovered their WWN(I think) via cat /sys/class/fc_host/host1/port_name 0x100000051efc3d85 cat /sys/class/fc_host/host2/port_name 0x100000051efc3d9f The next part is where I am at a loss. I've used iSCSI before...is FC the same deal where you have an initiator and a target? If so where do I specific that in linux? I'm also new to Fiber Channel as a protocol, so i am unsure what is needed to make a transaction? WWN and port ID? Similar to IP:Port combination in the Ethernet world. I've read alot regarding using systool, multipath, fc_transport commands, however none of these is recognized as a valid command from Oracle Server 6.3 Appreciate the guidance and assistance.   • FASM vc MASM trasnlation problem in mov si, offset msg

    hi folks, just did my first test with MASM and FASM with the same code (almos) and I falled in trouble. The only difference is that to produce just the 104 bytes I need to write to MBR in FASM I put org 7c00h and in MASM 0h. The problem is on the mov si, offset msg that in the first case transletes it to 44 7C (7c44h) and with masm translates to 44 00 (0044h)! but just when I change org 7c00h to org 0h in MASM.   • Is using the keyword var bad in C# 2.0?

    I read an article about using C# 3 features in C# 2 where you can for instance type var x = 2; and even if the project is a 2.0 project, the Visual Studio 2008 compiler picks it up and generates the same code as it would if you type int x = 2. But what I don't get is, should you not do this in some cases? I always thought that the var keyword didn't arrive until C# 3.. If the compiler generates the same code and I can type C# 3 code and C# 2 code exactly the same, what is the differance really, because the CLI is the same, right? Quote from the link above Behind the scenes, the compiler generate regular .NET 2.0 code. Is there any difference between .NET 2.0 code and .NET 3 code?
