  I've a webapp that apparently uses the standard java.util.Logging (no log4j or other stuff). Everything is logged under "com.bzsearchj.". I'm assuming I can configure Tomcat 6, via $CATALINA_HOME/conf/logging.properties to have it log everything under com.bzsearcj. to its own file, bonus if I can make it rotate daily - right now everything gets logged to the catalina-xxx.log What do I put in the conf/logging.properties to do this ?

• System Out Of Memory Exception in Production Server

  We have .net application installed on production server. It is using .net FrameWork 3.0 on windows server 2003 with RAM 4 GB. But there is a problem in application while running sometimes it throws system out of memory exception. I am very frustrating with this. Also I am unable to simulate the issue. I had checked all the possibilities which can cause the problem but didn’t get any thing which solve the issue I checked on production server event log found the Out Of Memory Exception also INVALID VIEW STATE logs are there. • Extended Logging with Caller Info Attributes

  .NET 4.5 caller info attributes may be one of those features that do not get much airtime, but nonetheless are a great addition to the framework. These attributes will allow you to programmatically access information about the caller of a given method, more specifically, the code file full path, the member name of the caller and the line number at which the method was called. They are implemented by taking advantage of C# 4.0 optional parameters and are a compile time feature so as an added bonus the returned member name is not affected by obfuscation. The main usage scenario will be for tracing and debugging routines as will see right now. In this sample code I’ll be using NLog, but the example is also applicable to other logging frameworks like log4net. • Throwing an exception from a BackgroundWorker which calls an async. method (Webrequest)

  Hi, My main application creates a new BackgroundWorker X the DoWork event handler of X calls a method Y of my controller. This method creates the WebRequest (async.) instance and the callback using AsyncCallback. When the response arrives the callback method Z gets called and the content will be analyzed. It can happen that the response has an unwanted content. At that moment callback Z will throw an exception. I want to catch this exception in my main application. I tried it in DoWork and RunWorkerCompleted but nothing can be caught from there. Error in RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs is always null.

  We're investigating a coding pattern in C# in which we'd like to use a "using" clause with a special class, whose Dispose() method does different things depending on whether the "using" body was exited normally or with an exception. To the best of my understanding, the CLR keeps track of the current exception being handled until it's been consumed by a "catch" handler. However it's not entirely clear whether this information is exposed in any way for the code to access. Do you know whether it is, and if so, how to access it? For example: using (var x = new MyObject()) { x.DoSomething(); x.DoMoreThings(); } class MyObject : IDisposable { public void Dispose() { if (ExceptionIsBeingHandled) Rollback(); else Commit(); } } This looks almost like System.Transactions.TransactionScope, except that success/failure is not determined by a call to x.Complete(), but rather based on whether the using body was exited normally.

  I've seen this sort of pattern in code before: //pseudo C# code var exInfo = null; //Line A try { var p = SomeProperty; //Line B exInfo = new ExceptionMessage("The property was " + p); //Line C } catch(Exception ex) { exInfo.SomeOtherProperty = SomeOtherValue; //Line D } Usually the code is structured in this fashion because exInfo has to be visible outside of the try clause. The problem is that if an exception occurs on Line B, then exInfo will be null at Line D. The issue arises when something happens on Line B that must occur before exInfo is constructed. But if I set exInfo to a new Object at line A then memory may get leaked at Line C (due to "new"-ing the object there). Is there a better pattern for handling this sort of code? Is there a name for this sort of initialization pattern? By the way I know I could check for exInfo == null before line D but that seems a bit clumsy and I'm looking for a better approach.

  As previously blogged in the EBS 11i and 12.1 Support Timeline Changes entry, two important changes to the Oracle Lifetime Support policies were announced at Oracle OpenWorld 2012 - San Francisco.  These changes affect E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12.1. Critical Patch Updates for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support Period You may be wondering about the availability of Critical Patch Updates (CPU) for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period.  The following details the E-Business Suite Critical Patch Update support policy for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period: Oracle will continue to provide CPUs containing critical security fixes for E-Business Suite 11i.  CPUs will be packaged and released as as cumulative patches for both ATG RUP 6 and ATG RUP 7. As always, we try to minimize the number of patches and dependencies required for uptake of a CPU; however, there have been quite a few changes to the 11i baseline since its release.  For dependency reasons the 11i CPUs may require a higher number of files in order to bring them up to a consistent, stable, and well tested level. EBS 11i customer will continue to receive CPUs up to and including the October 2014 CPU. Where can I learn more?   Hi I spent a day trying to make Ent Lib Logging work and log anything into database or event log, I have a web application and console application withe the same Ent Lib config, only the console is capable to log into the Event Log, I tried everything with permissions, but I don't know what exactly I am doing, which services should have what, It does not work!!
