  • Restored Domain Controller does not display any information using dcdiag command

    I am testing restoring a domain controller from system state backup to different hardware in a non production environment as a sanity check for our restoration procedure. When i run the dcdiag command I get "blank info back" and all that is displayed are two lines as follows: Domain Controller Diagnosis Performing initial setup: and then I am returned to the command prompt. Even when I do dcdiag /v i get the same result. I have double checked the DNS settings and Active Directory works properly. All FSMO roles are being held by this restored Domain Controller. I am able to join test pc's to the domain without issue etc Is this a common issue or is there something that I am missing. Thanks.

  • Getting apache to use ldap group and filesystem group information

    We have an Apache server which serves out of a particular directory, and just supplies a listing of files. From this directory, each subdirectory is owned by a certain group of users (at the filesystem level). User groups are determined by a posixGroup in ldap. Is there any simple way I can tell Apache to authorize access based on filesystem permissions, just like if the users were to access the filesystem from a shell? I would like to be able to simply add users/groups/directories without having to add another Directory or Location directive in Apache's conf?

  • Sharing information between nodes in Beowulf Cluster

    I am setting up a beowulf cluster and I've been reading that it might be necessary to make the home directory of the cluster users shared between them (assuming this users are local to each machine). The other case is leave each user with its own home and the communication is up to the master node. Another idea that came up was to use an LDAP unique user logged on each machine in the cluster, that keeps the idea of the shared home between nodes (but is only one home of one user). Which approach is better for this kind of cluster? Edit: The cluster is running openmpi and it will support cuda and opencl

  • Is there a program that gives the result of a chemical reaction?

    Is there a program where I can type one, two or more components of chemical reaction and find out the result of it? For example, I enter "N2 + H2" and it gives me "N2 + H2 ? NH3". Or "C10H8 + O2" and it shows "C10H8 + O2 ? CO2 + H2O". I don't need coefficient calculator, where I type full reaction and it calculates coefficients (marked bold in next example): C10H8 + 12 O2 = 10 CO2 + 4 H2O.

  • Why do we need different CPU architecture for server & mini/mainframe & mixed-core?

    Hello, I was just wondering what other CPU architectures are available other than INTEL & AMD. So, found List of CPU architectures on Wikipedia. It categorizes notable CPU architectures into following categories. Embedded CPU architectures Microcomputer CPU architectures Workstation/Server CPU architectures Mini/Mainframe CPU architectures Mixed core CPU architectures I was analyzing the purposes and have few doubts. I taking Microcomputer CPU (PC) architecture as reference and comparing others. Embedded CPU architecture: They are a completely new world. Embedded systems are small & do very specific task mostly real time & low power consuming so we do not need so many & such wide registers available in a microcomputer CPU (typical PC). In other words we do need a new small & tiny architecture. Hence new architecture & new instruction RISC. The above point also clarifies why do we need a separate operating system (RTOS). Workstation/Server CPU architectures I don't know what is a workstation. Someone clarify regarding the workstation. As of the server. It is dedicated to run a specific software (server software like httpd, mysql etc.). Even if other processes run we need to give server process priority therefore there is a need for new scheduling scheme and thus we need operating system different than general purpose one. If you have any more points for the need of server OS please mention. But I don't get why do we need a new CPU Architecture. Why cant Microcomputer CPU architecture do the job. Can someone please clarify? Mini/Mainframe CPU architectures Again I don't know what are these & what miniframes or mainframes used for? I just know they are very big and occupy complete floor. But I never read about some real world problems they are trying to solve. If any one working on one of these. Share your knowledge. Can some one clarify its purpose & why is it that microcomputer CPU archicture not suitable for it? Is there a new kind of operating system for this too? Why? Mixed core CPU architectures Never heard of these.   • Jenkins shows same information for all projects

    I've been using Jenkins for the last month or so and what started out as a small issue has gotten worse and worse. I have 10 projects in Jenkins, all polling from different Git repos and building to different environments but they all show the same details on the dashboard. I can still build the projects, but I have to manually enter the URL to see any console output etc. I'm running 1.536 under Ubuntu 12.04, there's not much in the logs other than the following; Oct 22, 2013 2:21:19 PM WARNING jenkins.model.lazy.AbstractLazyLoadRunMap search JENKINS-15652 Assertion error #1: failing to load /data/builds #20 EXACT: lo=23,hi=9,size=23,size2=23 – Any ideas?

  • Multicasting and multicast address

    I have confusion about the multicast addresses, I have read an example which is given by. Suppose two applications have been built to send audio over a network. One application accepts and digitizes an audio input stream, and then sends the resulting frame across the network to other application. The second application receives the digitized audio from the network, converts it back to the audio signal and plays the result over a speaker. Unless the two applications use broadcast to send frames, no other computers on the network will receive a copy of the frame. Multicasting provides an excellent solution to the problems of allowing some computers to participate in audio transmission. To use multicasting , a multicast address must be chosen for the audio application. And the receiving application passes the multicast address to the network interface. The interface begins to accept the packets sent to that address. Question: how this multicast address is chosen, how the receiving application knows that the sender using this specific destination address for the audio frames.

  • Get LDAP Information For University Email. For Thunderbird

    I am a Student at Northeastern University. They use G-Apps for email ids, so whenever I need to email someone, using university Id which ends with husky.neu.edu. I have to go Gmails compose mail, They have some LDAP Setting by which I get all the email ids using AJAX in "To" as soon as I start typing. I want to configure same in Thunderbird, I contacted university but they are not able to help me. Is it possible that on my G-Apps Gmail Settings those LDAP Parameter needed for configuration are presents? Can anyone help me? I want to configure a directory reference in my email client thunderbird, I dont know the parameters to use, it is possible I can get it somehow?

  • How to get more information from the system crash

    I'd like to debug an issue I'm having with a linux (debian stable) server, but I'm running out of ideas of how to confirm any diagnosis. Some background: The servers are running DL160 class with hardware raid between two disks. They're running a lot of services, mostly utilising network interface and CPU. There are 8 cpus and 7 "main" most cpu-hungry processes are bound to one core each via cpu affinity. Other random background scripts are not forced anywhere. The filesystem is writing ~1.5k blocks/s the whole time (goes up above 2k/s in peak times). Normal CPU usage for those servers is ~60% on 7 cores and some minimal usage on the last (whatever's running on shells usually). What actually happens is that the "main" services start using 100% CPU at some point, mainly stuck in kernel time. After a couple of seconds, LA goes over 400 and we lose any way to connect to the box (KVM is on it's way, but not there yet). The host is never running out of memory or swapping, no oom reports are spotted. We've got many boxes with similar/same hardware and they all seem to behave that way, but I'm not sure which part fails, so it's probably not a good idea to just grab something more powerful and hope the problem goes away. Applications themselves don't really report anything wrong when they're running. I can run anything safely on the same hardware in an isolated environment. What can I do to narrow down the problem? Where else should I look for explanation?

  • How to clear Outlook's Exchance cache address book information

    When a new email address is added to our company's Exchange server it doesn't show up immediately on my Outlook, and I suspect that it's because of the "cached mode". When I disable cached mode and restart outlook I see the new address fine. But when I restore cached mode and restart outlook it's missing again. So I guess the cache wasn't updated by this move. I tried deleting the .nk2 file in %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook, but that didn't help. How can I force Outlook to clear its address book cache?

    Not sure this is the right place for this question, but here goes: I'm trying to make some sense of the /proc/pid/sched and /proc/pid/task/tid/sched files for a highly threaded server process, however I was not able to find a good explanation of how to interpret this file ( just a few bits here: http://knol.google.com/k/linux-performance-tuning-and-measurement# ) . I assume this entry in procfs is related to newer versions of the kernel that run with the CFS scheduler? CentOS distro running on a 2.6.24.7-149.el5rt kernel version with preempt rt patch. Any thoughts?

  • Duplicate free/busy or full calendar information between two exchange servers

    We have acquired a new entity with their own AD/Exchange environment. Until they fully join our domain, we need to sync their exchange calendars or minimally free/busy for users. All users in the acquisition have a new account in our organization. We have considered a number of options including CalDAV, but nothing seems to meet our needs. Even a client solutions to update the NEW server with the free/busy would be workable.
