  • UICollectionViewCell imageView

    - by Flink
    Code works fine until I changed UIViewController with tableView to UICollectionViewController. Now all cells shows same image, sometimes it flipping to nil. However textLabels are OK. - (UICollectionViewCell *)collectionView:(UICollectionView *)collectionView cellForItemAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"TourGridCell"; TourGridCell *cell = (TourGridCell *)[collectionView dequeueReusableCellWithReuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier forIndexPath:indexPath]; Guide *guideRecord = [self.fetchedResultsController objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; cell.titleLabel.text = [guideRecord.name uppercaseString]; cell.titleLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; if ([guideRecord.sights count] > 0) { if ([[guideRecord.sights objectAtIndex:0]valueForKey:@"thumbnail"]) { cell.imageView.image = [UIImage drawImage:[[guideRecord.sights objectAtIndex:0]valueForKey:@"thumbnail"] inImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"MultiplePhotos"] inRect:CGRectMake(11, 11, 63, 63)]; }else { cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"placeholder2"]; } NSMutableString *sightsSummary = [NSMutableString stringWithCapacity:[guideRecord.sights count]]; for (Sight *sight in guideRecord.sights) { if ([sight.name length]) { if ([sightsSummary length]) { [sightsSummary appendString:@", "]; } [sightsSummary appendString:sight.name]; } } if ([sightsSummary length]) { [sightsSummary appendString:@"."]; } cell.sightsTextLabel.text = sightsSummary; cell.detailTextLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:NSLocalizedString(@"%i", nil) , [guideRecord.sights count]]; cell.detailTextLabel.hidden = NO; // cell.textLabel.alpha = 0.7; NSPredicate *enabledSightPredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"notify == YES"]; NSArray *sightsEnabled = [[[guideRecord.sights array] filteredArrayUsingPredicate:enabledSightPredicate]mutableCopy]; NSPredicate *visitedSightPredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"visited == YES"]; NSArray *sightsVisited = [[[guideRecord.sights array] filteredArrayUsingPredicate:visitedSightPredicate]mutableCopy]; if ([sightsEnabled count] > 0) { NSLog(@"green_badge"); cell.notifyIV.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"green_badge"]; } else if (sightsVisited.count == 0) { NSLog(@"new_badge"); cell.notifyIV.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"new_badge"]; } else { cell.notifyIV.image = nil; } } else { cell.notifyIV.hidden = YES; // cell.textLabel.textColor = RGB(0, 50, 140); cell.detailTextLabel.hidden = YES; cell.sightsTextLabel.text = nil; } return cell; }

  • PHP str_replace and preg_replace work on one server but not another

    - by retailevolved
    I have a simple function on a php page that takes a url such as: http://myurl.com/mypage.html?param1=value1 and converts it to: http://myurl.com/searchpage.html?param1=value1 All it does it swap out the page.html portion. To do this, I use the following: $currentUrl = $this-getCurrentUrl(); // Grabs the current url, i.e 'http://myurl.com/mypage.html?param1=value1' // Derive a search pattern from the current url $pattern = "/" . str_replace(array("/", ".", "-"), array("\\/", "\\.", "\\-"), $currentUrl) . "/"; // get rid of the 'mypage.html' $newUrl = preg_replace($pattern, 'http://myurl.com/', $currentUrl); // replace the question mark with the correct page $newUrl = str_replace("/?", "/searchpage.html?", $newUrl); The above code is not the exact code but is a good representation. It works beautifully on one server, but when I push to production, the preg_replace does not work. I originally attempted to use str_replace. It also works on my local development machine, but not on the production server. I have confirmed that the URL variables are coming in correctly. Any ideas?

  • Variable Assignment and loops (Java)

    - by Raven Dreamer
    Greetings Stack Overflowers, A while back, I was working on a program that hashed values into a hashtable (I don't remember the specifics, and the specifics themselves are irrelevant to the question at hand). Anyway, I had the following code as part of a "recordInput" method. tempElement = new hashElement(someInt); while(in.hasNext() == true) { int firstVal = in.nextInt(); if (firstVal == -911) { break; } tempElement.setKeyValue(firstVal, 0); for(int i = 1; i<numKeyValues;i++) { tempElement.setKeyValue(in.nextInt(), i); } elementArray[placeValue] = tempElement; placeValue++; } // close while loop } // close method This part of the code was giving me a very nasty bug -- no matter how I finagled it, no matter what input I gave the program, it would always produce an array full of only a single value -- the last one. The problem, as I later determined it, was that because I had not created the tempElement variable within the loop, and because values were not being assigned to elementArray[] until after the loop had ended -- every term was defined rather as "tempElement" -- when the loop terminated, every slot in the array was filled with the last value tempElement had taken. I was able to fix this bug by moving the declaration of tempElement within the while loop. My question to you, Stackoverflow, is whether there is another (read: better) way to avoid this bug while keeping the variable declaration of tempElement outside the while loop. (suggestions for better title and tags also appreciated)

  • PHP autoloader: ignoring non-existing include

    - by Bart van Heukelom
    I have a problem with my autoloader: public function loadClass($className) { $file = str_replace(array('_', '\\'), '/', $className) . '.php'; include_once $file; } As you can see, it's quite simple. I just deduce the filename of the class and try to include it. I have a problem though; I get an exception when trying to load a non-existing class (because I have an error handler which throws exceptions). This is inconvenient, because it's also fired when you use class_exists() on a non-existing class. You don't want an exception there, just a "false" returned. I fixed this earlier by putting an @ before the include (supressing all errors). The big drawback with this, though, is that any parser/compiler errors (that are fatal) in this include won't show up (not even in the logs), resulting in a hard to find bug. What would be the best way to solve both problems at once? The easiest way would be to include something like this in the autoloader (pseudocode): foreach (path in the include_path) { if (is_readable(the path + the class name)) readable = true; } if (!readable) return; But I worry about the performance there. Would it hurt a lot? (Solved) Made it like this: public function loadClass($className) { $file = str_replace(array('_', '\\'), '/', $className) . '.php'; $paths = explode(PATH_SEPARATOR, get_include_path()); foreach ($paths as $path) { if (is_readable($path . '/' . $file)) { include_once $file; return; } } }

  • Yaml::load_file acting different between development and production (Rails)

    - by James
    Hi, I am completely stumped at the nature of this problem. We export data from our application into a 'cleaned' YAML file (stripping out IDs, created_at etc). Then we (will) allow users to import these files back into the application - it is the import that is completely bugging me out. In development, YAML::load_file(params[:uploaded_data].local_path) returns an array of YAML::Objects's (and it doesn't matter which of the number of different ways the file could be loaded): [#{"exception_count"="0", "title"="Start", "amount"="70.00", "colour"=nil, "repeat_type_id"="0", "repeat_interval"="1"}}, etc etc] Which is very nice, as the attributes also include the (associated model) exceptions that you see an exception_count for. However on production (rails 2.3.2, running REE 1.8.7 and 1.8.6 for testing, tested on two different production env's, and running production locally) it returns an array of the Objects within the YAML - in this case, Event: [#, repeat_type_id: 0, colour: nil, repeat_interval: 1, exception_count: 0, etc etc] Now this would be just perplexing if it also included the associated model Exception with it - however it doesn't. Can anyone at all shed some light on why the Yaml parser would behave so differently between production and development? I'm on rails 2.3.2, running REE 1.8.7; however I've also tested running Ruby 1.8.6 with exactly the same results. Thanks for any help!

  • How to efficiently show many Images? (iPhone programming)

    - by Thomas
    In my application I needed something like a particle system so I did the following: While the application initializes I load a UIImage laserImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"laser.png"]; UIImage *laserImage is declared in the Interface of my Controller. Now every time I need a new particle this code makes one: // add new Laserimage UIImageView *newLaser = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:laserImage]; [newLaser setTag:[model.lasers count]-9]; [newLaser setBounds:CGRectMake(0, 0, 17, 1)]; [newLaser setOpaque:YES]; [self.view addSubview:newLaser]; [newLaser release]; Please notice that the images are only 17px * 1px small and model.lasers is a internal array to do all the calculating seperated from graphical output. So in my main drawing loop I set all the UIImageView's positions to the calculated positions in my model.lasers array: for (int i = 0; i < [model.lasers count]; i++) { [[self.view viewWithTag:i+10] setCenter:[[model.lasers objectAtIndex:i] pos]]; } I incremented the tags by 10 because the default is 0 and I don't want to move all the views with the default tag. So the animation looks fine with about 10 - 20 images but really gets slow when working with about 60 images. So my question is: Is there any way to optimize this without starting over in OpenGl ES? Thank you very much and sorry for my english! Greetings from Germany, Thomas

  • Is there some advantage to filling a stack with nils and interpreting the "top" as the last non-nil value?

    - by dwilbank
    While working on a rubymonk exercise, I am asked to implement a stack with a hard size limit. It should return 'nil' if I try to push too many values, or if I try to pop an empty stack. My solution is below, followed by their solution. Mine passes every test I can give it in my IDE, while it fails rubymonk's test. But that isn't my question. Question is, why did they choose to fill the stack with nils instead of letting it shrink and grow like it does in my version? It just makes their code more complex. Here's my solution: class Stack def initialize(size) @max = size @store = Array.new end def pop empty? ? nil : @store.pop end def push(element) return nil if full? @store.push(element) end def size @store.size end def look @store.last end private def full? @store.size == @max end def empty? @store.size == 0 end end and here is the accepted answer class Stack def initialize(size) @size = size @store = Array.new(@size) @top = -1 end def pop if empty? nil else popped = @store[@top] @store[@top] = nil @top = @top.pred popped end end def push(element) if full? or element.nil? nil else @top = @top.succ @store[@top] = element self end end def size @size end def look @store[@top] end private def full? @top == (@size - 1) end def empty? @top == -1 end end

  • Speeding up a soap powered website

    - by ChrisRamakers
    Hi all, We're currently looking into doing some performance tweaking on a website which relies heavily on a Soap webservice. But ... our servers are located in Belgium and the webservice we connect to is locate in San Francisco so it's a long distance connection to say the least. Our website is PHP powered, using PHP's built in SoapClient class. On average a call to the webservice takes 0.7 seconds and we are doing about 3-5 requests per page. All possible request/response caching is already implemented so we are now looking at other ways to improved the connection speed. This is the code which instantiates the SoapClient, what i'm looking for now is other ways/methods to improve speed on single requestes. Anyone has idea's or suggestions? private function _createClient() { try { $wsdl = sprintf($this->config->wsUrl.'?wsdl', $this->wsdl); $client = new SoapClient($wsdl, array( 'soap_version' => SOAP_1_1, 'encoding' => 'utf-8', 'connection_timeout' => 5, 'cache_wsdl' => 1, 'trace' => 1, 'features' => SOAP_SINGLE_ELEMENT_ARRAYS )); $header_tags = array('username' => new SOAPVar($this->config->wsUsername, XSD_STRING, null, null, null, $this->ns), 'password' => new SOAPVar(md5($this->config->wsPassword), XSD_STRING, null, null, null, $this->ns)); $header_body = new SOAPVar($header_tags, SOAP_ENC_OBJECT); $header = new SOAPHeader($this->ns, 'AuthHeaderElement', $header_body); $client->__setSoapHeaders($header); } catch (SoapFault $e){ controller('Error')->error($id.': Webservice connection error '.$e->getCode()); exit; } $this->client = $client; return $this->client; }

  • Drupal 6 node_view empty

    - by kristian nissen
    I'm trying to produce a page with a list of specific nodes but the node_view returns an empty string. This is my query: function events_upcoming() { $output = ''; $has_events = false; $res = pager_query(db_rewrite_sql("SELECT n.nid, n.created FROM {node} n WHERE n.type = 'events' AND n.status = 1 ORDER BY n.sticky DESC, n.created DESC"), variable_get('default_nodes_main', 10)); while ($n = db_fetch_object($res)) { $output .= node_view(node_load($n->nid), 1); $has_events = true; } if ($has_events) { $output .= theme('pager', NULL, variable_get('default_nodes_main', 10)); } return $output; } hook_menu (part of): 'events/upcoming' => array( 'title' => t('Upcoming Events'), 'page callback' => 'events_upcoming', 'access arguments' => array('access content'), 'type' => MENU_SUGGESTED_ITEM ), the implementation of hook_view: function events_view($node, $teaser = false, $page = false) { $node = node_prepare($node, $teaser); if ($page) { // TODO: Handle breadcrump } return $node; } now, if I add a var_dump($node) inside events_view the node is present and I can see the values I want, and if I add a var_dump inside while loop in events_upcoming I also get a node id from the query. the strange thing is, when I load localhost/events/upcoming I see the pager and nothing else. I have used the blog.module as a reference, but what am I missing here?

  • C pointers and addresses

    - by yCalleecharan
    Hi, I always thought that *&p = p = &*p in C. I tried this code: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> char a[] = "programming"; char *ap = &a[4]; int main(void) { printf("%x %x %x\n", ap, &*(ap), *&(ap)); /* line 13 */ printf("%x %x %x\n\n", ap+1, &*(ap+1), *&(ap+1)); /* line 14 */ } The first printf line (line 13) gives me the addresses: 40b0a8 40b0a8 40b0a8 which are the same as expected. But when I added the second printf line, Borland complains: "first.c": E2027 Must take address of a memory location in function main at line 14 I was expecting to get: 40b0a9 40b0a9 40b0a9. It seems that the expression *&(ap+1) on line 14 is the culprit here. I thought all three pointer expressions on line 14 are equivalent. Why am I thinking wrong? A second related question: The line char *ap = a; points to the first element of array a. I used char *ap = &a[4]; to point to the 5th element of array a. Is the expression char *ap = a; same as the expression char *ap = &a[0]; Is the last expression only more verbose than the previous one? Thanks a lot...

  • iPhone dev: Recurse all project resoureces and collect paths

    - by thomax
    I have a bunch of HTML resources in my app organized in a hierarchy like so: dirA |---> index.html |---> a1.html |---> a2.html |---> dirB |---> b1.html |---> b2.html |---> dirC |---> c5.html |---> c19.html I'm trying to collect the absolute paths of all HTML resources however deep down, but can't seem to figure out how. So far I've tried: NSArray myPaths = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathsForResourcesOfType:@"html" inDirectory:nil]; This returns an empty array, because I have no HTML files at the root of my project. Then there is: NSArray myPaths = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathsForResourcesOfType:@"html" inDirectory:@"dirA"]; This returns an array containing only the paths for the three HTML resources directly below dirA. If I read the doc correctly, I guess this is to be expected; pathsForResourcesOfType does not traverse subdirectories. But is there a (preferably nice) way to do it?

  • Capture data read from file into string stream Java

    - by halluc1nati0n
    I'm coming from a C++ background, so be kind on my n00bish queries... I'd like to read data from an input file and store it in a stringstream. I can accomplish this in an easy way in C++ using stringstreams. I'm a bit lost trying to do the same in Java. Following is a crude code/way I've developed where I'm storing the data read line-by-line in a string array. I need to use a string stream to capture my data into (rather than use a string array).. Any help? char dataCharArray[] = new char[2]; int marker=0; String inputLine; String temp_to_write_data[] = new String[100]; // Now, read from output_x into stringstream FileInputStream fstream = new FileInputStream("output_" + dataCharArray[0]); // Convert our input stream to a BufferedReader BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader (new InputStreamReader(fstream)); // Continue to read lines while there are still some left to read while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null ) { // Print file line to screen // System.out.println (inputLine); temp_to_write_data[marker] = inputLine; marker++; }

  • Using Rails, problem testing has_many relationship

    - by east
    The summary is that I've code that works when manually testing, but isn't doing what I would think it should when trying to build an automated test. Here are the details: I've two models: Payment and PaymentTranscation. class Payment ... has_many :transactions, :class_name => 'PaymentTransaction' class PaymentTranscation ... belongs_to payment The PaymentTransaction is only created in a Payment model method, like so: def pay_up ... transactions.create!(params...) ... end I've manually tested this code, inspected the database, and everything works well. The failing automated test looks like this: def test_pay_up purchase = Payment.new(...) assert purchase.save assert_equal purchase.state, :initialized.to_s assert purchase.pay_up # this should create a new PaymentTransaction... assert_equal purchase.state, :succeeded.to_s assert_equal purchase.transactions.count, 1 # FAILS HERE; transactions is an empty array end If I step through the code, it's clear that the PaymentTransaction is getting created correctly (though I can't see it in the database because everything is in a testing transaction). What I can't figure out is why transactions is returning an empty array in the test when I know a valid PaymentTransaction is getting created. Anybody have some suggestions? Thanks in advance, east

  • How do I make PHP's Magic __set work like a natural variable?

    - by Navarr
    Basically, what I want to do is create a class called Variables that uses sessions to store everything in it, allowing me to quickly get and store data that needs to be used throughout the entire site without working directly with sessions. Right now, my code looks like this: <?php class Variables { public function __construct() { if(session_id() === "") { session_start(); } } public function __set($name,$value) { $_SESSION["Variables"][$name] = $value; } public function __get($name) { return $_SESSION["Variables"][$name]; } public function __isset($name) { return isset($_SESSION["Variables"][$name]); } } However, when I try to use it like a natural variable, for example... $tpl = new Variables; $tpl->test[2] = Moo; echo($tpl->test[2]); I end up getting "o" instead of "Moo" as it sets test to be "Moo," completely ignoring the array. I know I can work around it by doing $tpl->test = array("Test","Test","Moo"); echo($tpl->test[2]); but I would like to be able to use it as if it was a natural variable. Is this possible?

  • Precision error on matrix multiplication

    - by Wam
    Hello all, Coding a matrix multiplication in my program, I get precision errors (inaccurate results for large matrices). Here's my code. The current object has data stored in a flattened array, row after row. Other matrix B has data stored in a flattened array, column after column (so I can use pointer arithmetic). protected double[,] multiply (IMatrix B) { int columns = B.columns; int rows = Rows; int size = Columns; double[,] result = new double[rows,columns]; for (int row = 0; row < rows; row++) { for (int col = 0; col < columns; col++) { unsafe { fixed (float* ptrThis = data) fixed (float* ptrB = B.Data) { float* mePtr = ptrThis + row*rows; float* bPtr = ptrB + col*columns; double value = 0.0; for (int i = 0; i < size; i++) { value += *(mePtr++) * *(bPtr++); } result[row, col] = value; } } } } } Actually, the code is a bit more complicated : I do the multiply thing for several chunks (so instead of having i from 0 to size, I go from localStart to localStop), then sum up the resulting matrices. My problem : for a big matrix I get precision error : NUnit.Framework.AssertionException: Error at (0,1) expected: <6.4209571409444209E+18> but was: <6.4207619776304906E+18> Any idea ?

  • WCF service with PHP client - complex type as parameter not working

    - by Matt F
    Hi, I have a WCF service with three methods. Two of the methods return custom types (these work as expected), and the third method takes a custom type as a parameter and returns a boolean. When calling the third method via a PHP soap client it returns an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' exception. Example Custom Type: _ Public Class MyClass Private _propertyA As Double <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyA() As Double Get Return _propertyA End Get Set(ByVal value As Double) _propertyA = value End Set End Property Private _propertyB As Double <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyB() As Double Get Return _propertyB End Get Set(ByVal value As Double) _propertyB = value End Set End Property Private _propertyC As Date <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyC() As Date Get Return _propertyC End Get Set(ByVal value As Date) _propertyC = value End Set End Property End Class Method: Public Function Add(ByVal param As MyClass) As Boolean Implements IService1.Add ' ... End Function PHP client call: $client-Add(array('param'=array( 'PropertyA' = 1, 'PropertyB' = 2, 'PropertyC' = "2009-01-01" ))); The WCF service works fine with a .Net client but I'm new to PHP and can't get this to work. Is it possible to create an instance of 'MyClass' in PHP. Any help would be appreciated. Note: I'm using PHP 5 (XAMPP 1.7.0 for Windows). Thanks Matt

  • LotusScript - Setting element in for loop

    - by Kris.Mitchell
    I have an array set up Dim managerList(1 To 50, 1 To 100) As String what I am trying to do, is set the first, second, and third elements in the row managerList(index,1) = tempManagerName managerList(index,2) = tempIdeaNumber managerList(index,3) = 1 But get an error when I try to do that saying that the object variable is not set. I maintain index as an integer, and the value corresponds to a single manager, but I can't seem to manually set the third element. The first and second elements set correctly. On the flip side, I have the following code that will allow for the element to be set, For x=1 To 50 If StrConv(tempManagerName,3) = managerList(x,1) Then found = x For y=3 to 100 If managerList(x,y) = "" Then managerList(x,y) = tempIdeaNumber Exit for End If Next Exit For End If Next It spins through the array (laterally) trying to find an empty element. Ideally I would like to set the index of the element the y variable is on into the 3rd element in the row, to keep a count of how many ideas are on the row. What is the best way to keep a count like this? Any idea why I am getting a Object variable not set error when I try to manually set the element?

  • How to loop video using NetStream in Data Generation Mode

    - by WesleyJohnson
    I'm using a NetStream in Data Generation Mode to play an embeded FLV using appendBytes. When the stream is finished playing, I'd like to loop the FLV file. I'm not sure how to achieve this. Here is what I have so far (this isn't a complete example): public function createBorderAnimation():void { // Load the skin image borderAnimation = Assets.BorderAnimation; // Convert the animation to a byte array borderAnimationBytes = new borderAnimation(); // Initialize the net connection border_nc = new NetConnection(); border_nc.connect( null ); // Initialize the net stream border_ns = new NetStream( border_nc ); border_ns.client = { onMetaData:function( obj:Object ):void{ trace(obj); } } border_ns.addEventListener( NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, border_netStatusHandler ); border_ns.play( null ); border_ns.appendBytes( borderAnimationBytes ); // Initialize the animation border_vd = new Video( 1024, 768 ); border_vd.attachNetStream( border_ns ); // Add the animation to the stage ui = new UIComponent(); ui.addChild( DisplayObject( border_vd ) ); grpBackground.addElement( ui ); } protected function border_netStatusHandler( event:NetStatusEvent ):void { if( event.info.code == "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" || event.info.code == "NetStream.Buffer.Empty" ) { border_ns.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.RESET_BEGIN ); border_ns.appendBytes( borderAnimationBytes ); border_ns.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.END_SEQUENCE ); } } This will loop the animation, but it starts chewing up memory like crazy. I've tried using NetStream.seek(0) and NetStream.appendBytesAction( NetStreamAppendBytesAction.RESET_SEEK ), but then I'm not sure what to do next. If you just try to call appendBytes again after that, it doesn't work, presumably because I'm appending the full byte array which has the FLV header and stuff? I'm not very familiar with how that all works. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The custom validator that I wrote extends Zend_Validate_Abstract and works correctly in that it passes back the correct error messages. In this case either: isEmpty or isMatch. However, the documentation says to use addErrorMessages to define the correct error messages to be displayed. in this case, i have attached ->addErrorMessages(array("isEmpty"=>"foo", "isMatch"=>"bar")); to the form field. According to everything I've read, if I return "isEmpty" from isValid(), my error message should read "foo" and if i return "isMatch" then it should read "bar". This is not the case I'm running into though. If I return false from is valid, no matter what i set $this-_error() to be, my error message displays "foo", or whatever I have at index[0] of the error messages array. If I don't define errorMessages, then I just get the error code I passed back for the display and I get the proper one, depending on what I passed back. How do I catch the error code and display the correct error message in my form? The fix I have implemented, until I figure it out properly, is to pass back the full message as the errorcode from the custom validator. This will work in this instance, but the error message is specific to this page and doesn't really allow for re-use of code. Things I have already tried: I have already tried validator chaining so that my custom validator only checks for matches: ->setRequired("true") ->addValidator("NotEmpty") ->addErrorMessage("URL May Not Be Empty") ->addValidator([*customValidator]*) ->addErrorMessage("X and Y urls may not be the same") But again, if either throws an error, the last error message to be set displays, regardless of what the error truly is. I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?

  • Subclassing NSArrayController in order to limit size of arrangedObjects

    - by Simone Manganelli
    I'm trying to limit the number of objects in an array controller, but I still want to be able to access the full array, if necessary. A simple solution I came up with was to subclass NSArrayController, and define a new method named "limitedArrangedObjects", that returns a limited number of objects from the real set of arranged objects. (I've seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/694493/limiting-the-number-of-objects-in-nsarraycontroller , but that doesn't address my problem.) I want this property to be observable via bindings, so I set a dependency to arrangedObjects on it. Problem is, when arrangedObjects is updated, limitedArrangedObjects seems not to be observing the value change in arrangedObjects. I've hooked up an NSCollectionView to limitedArrangedObjects, and zero objects are being displayed. (If I bind it to arrangedObjects instead, all the objects show up as expected.) What's the problem? Here's the relevant code: @property (readonly) NSArray *limitedArrangedObjects; - (NSArray *)limitedArrangedObjects; { NSArray *arrangedObjects = [super arrangedObjects]; NSUInteger upperLimit = 10000; NSUInteger count = [arrangedObjects count]; if (count > upperLimit) count = upperLimit; arrayToReturn = [arrangedObjects subarrayWithRange:NSMakeRange(0, count)]; return arrayToReturn; } + (NSSet *)keyPathsForValuesAffectingValueForKey:(NSString *)key; { NSSet *keyPaths = [super keyPathsForValuesAffectingValueForKey:key]; if ([key isEqualToString:@"limitedArrangedObjects"]) { NSSet *affectingKeys = [NSSet setWithObjects:@"arrangedObjects",nil]; keyPaths = [keyPaths setByAddingObjectsFromSet:affectingKeys]; } return keyPaths; }

  • How do I read text from a serial port?

    - by user2164
    I am trying to read data off of a Windows serial port through Java. I have the javax.comm libraries and am able to get some data but not correct data. When I read the port into a byte array and convert it to text I get a series of characters but no real text string. I have tried to specify the byte array as being both "UTF-8" and "US-ASCII". Does anyone know how to get real text out of this? Here is my code: while (inputStream.available() > 0) { int numBytes = inputStream.read(readBuffer); System.out.println("Reading from " + portId.getName() + ": "); System.out.println("Read " + numBytes + " bytes"); } System.out.println(new String(readBuffer)); System.out.println(new String(readBuffer, "UTF-8")); System.out.println(new String(readBuffer, "US-ASCII")); the output of the first three lines will not let me copy and paste (I assume because they are not normal characters). Here is the output of the Hex: 78786000e67e9e60061e8606781e66e0869e98e086f89898861878809e1e9880 I am reading from a Hollux GPS device which does output in string format. I know this for sure because I did it through C#. The settings that I am using for communication which I know are right from the work in the C# app are: Baud Rate: 9600 Databits: 8 Stop bit: 1 parity: none

    Our Silverlight 3.0 Client consumes Images stored/retrieved on the File System thorough ASP.NET HttpHandlers successfully. We are trying to store and read back Images using a SQL Server 2008 Database. Please find the stripped down code pasted below with the Exception.
