So, essentially this task has burned 1 hour per day Sprint Burn Down Chart – What’s not possible? The Sprint burn down chart is calculated from the System.AuthorizedDate and not the System.ChangedDate/System.CreatedDate. So, though you can change the System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates you will not be able to synthesize the sprint burn down chart. Image 1 – By changing the Created Date and Changed Date to ‘18/Oct/2012’ you would have expected the burn down to have been impacted, but it won’t be, because the sprint burn down chart uses the value of field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’ to calculate the unfinished work points. The AsOf queries that are used to calculate the unfinished work points use the value of the field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Image 2 – Using the above code I burned down 1 hour effort per day over 5 days from the task work item, I would have expected the sprint burn down to show a constant burn down, instead the burn down shows the effort exhausted on the 24th itself. Simply because the burn down is calculated using the ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Now you would ask… “Can I change the value of the field System.AuthorizedDate to a historic date” Unfortunately that’s not possible! You will run into the exception ValidationException –  “TF26194: The value for field ‘Authorized Date’ cannot be changed.” Conclusion - You need to be a member of the Project Collection Service account group in order to set the fields ‘System.ChangedDate’ and ‘System.CreatedDate’ to historic dates - You need to instantiate the WorkItemStore using the flag ByPassValidation - The System.ChangedDate needs to be set to a historic date at the time of work item creation. You cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date earlier than the existing ChangedDate and you cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date greater than the current date time. - The System.CreatedDate can only be reset after a work item has been created. You cannot set the CreatedDate at the time of work item creation. The CreatedDate cannot be greater than the current date. You can however reset the CreatedDate to a date earlier than the existing value. - You will not be able to synthesize the Sprint burn down chart by changing the value of System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates, since the burn down chart uses AsOf queries to calculate the unfinished work points which internally uses the System.AuthorizedDate and NOT the System.ChangedDate & System.CreatedDate - System.AuthorizedDate cannot be set to a historic date using the TFS API Read other posts on using the TFS API here… Enjoy!

• Throttling Cache Events

  The real-time eventing feature in Coherence is great for relaying state changes to other systems or to users. However, sometimes not all changes need to or can be sent to consumers. For instance; If rapid changes cannot be consumed or interpreted as fast as they are being sent. A user looking at changing Stock prices may only be able to interpret and react to 1 change per second. A client may be using low bandwidth connection, so rapidly sending events will only result in them being queued and delayed A large number of clients may need to be notified of state changes and sending 100 events p/s to 1000 clients cannot be supported with the available hardware, but 10 events p/s to 1000 clients can. Note this example assumes that many of the state changes are to the same value. One simple approach to throttling Coherence cache events is to use a cache store to capture changes to one cache (data cache) and insert those changes periodically in another cache (events cache). Consumers interested in state changes to entires in the first cache register an interest (event listener) against the second event cache. By using the cache store write-behind feature rapid updates to the same cache entry are coalesced so that updates are merged and written at the interval configured to the event cache. This is a very simple pattern which has a lot of additional possibilities, but it also has a few drawbacks you should be aware of: This event throttling implementation will use additional memory as a duplicate copy of entries held in the data cache need to be held in the events cache too - 2 if the event cache has backups A data cache may already use a cache store, so a "multiplexing cache store pattern" must also be used to send changes to the existing and throttling cache store.  If you would like to try out this throttling example you can download it here.   I have a J2EE application running on an IBM Websphere Application Server on a Windows Operating System. Given the relatively normal number of threads and heap size a lot lower than the maximum, I am trying to figure out why I see this error? • jstree dynamic JSON data from django

  I'm trying to set up jsTree to dynamically accept JSON data from django. This is the test data i have django returning to jstree: result=[{ "data" : "A node", "children" : [ { "data" : "Only child", "state" : "closed" } ], "state" : "open" },"Ajax node"] response=HttpResponse(content=result,mimetype="application/json") this is the jstree code I'm using: jQuery("#demo1").jstree({ "json_data" : { "ajax" : { "url" : "/dirlist", "data" : function (n) { return { id : n.attr ? n.attr("id") : 0 }; }, error: function(e){alert(e);} } }, "plugins" : [ "themes","json_data"] }); All I get is the ajax loading symbol, the ajax error response is also triggered and it alerts "undefined". I've also tried simpleJson encoding in django but with the same result. If I change the url so that it is receiving a JSON file with identical data, it works as expected. Any ideas on what the issue might be?

  Hi, I am trying to use the Silverlight DataStateBehavior, it works fine in most cases where I click a button which sets say a 'Selected' Property in the view model to either false or true. The DataStateBehavior then tells the VisualStateManager to go to the relevant state. Like this: <Button...> <i:Interaction.Behaviors> <id:DataStateBehavior Binding="{Binding Selected}" Value="True" TrueState="SelectedVisualState" FalseState="DeselectedVisualState"/> </i:Interaction.Behaviors> </Button> The above works fine. What I am trying to do though is to get it to set the correct state when the application loads, if I were to set the 'Selected' property on the view model to true by default I wouldn't see any changes in the UI until I clicked the button to change the viewmodel property. • Removing offline/defunct files in SQL server 2008

  How to remove traces of files marked as OFFLINE or DEFUNCT in Microsoft SQL server 2008? I have been playing around with a setup where I create a database with 3 file-groups which are: Primary, FileGroupData and FileGroupIndex. The clustered index is using FileGroupData and a non-clustered index is set to use FileGroupIndex. To simulate a disk failure I've shut down SQL server and manually deleted the files in index file-group. To start the database I'll mark the files 'OFFLINE', but after that I can't delete the index files, which are now offline. I don't have backup of the files as they are merely indices, but that has the implication that I can't restore the files and have their status as "ONLINE". How would you recommend removing the files and the file-group as they still show up in management studio under files/file-groups. Management studio is not able to delete them. This is likely quite specific to our situation, but perhaps it applies to others as well. Microsoft Network Monitor and an application trace got us the information we needed.

• Problem using SQLDMO/Vb6 against SQL2008

  I have a client, that uses SQLDMO for a portion of a custom application that was written against SQL 2000, and they recently upgraded to SQL2008. The majority of the app still runs fine (doesn't use SQLDMO), but the admin functions which rely on SQLDMO stopped working. I installed the SQL2005 backward compatibility pack, and now SQLDMO partially works, i.e. I can run "select" type queries, but any "Update" queries fail with the error message: to connect to the server you must use SQL Server management studio or sql server management objects (SMO) Any thoughts? Should the backward compatibility pack give me ALL the functionality back, or is this a known issue? BTW: I realize SQLDMO has been deprecated and will go away next release, none-the-less I need to do what I can to solve the problem at hand.

  I am little confused with my Opengl game loop. as I am skipping touch events some times. My game loop is some thing like this.. I have ScreenManager which draw and update all game screens who so ever has control.In update I am checking input of all screen also. if input state changes, then whichever screen has control, consume touches. EaglView draw update | | ScreenManager.draw ScreenManager.update -> handle input stack ___________ ___________ of ___________ ___________ screen ___________ ___________ Problem comes.. I am changing input state as touch begun and end methods called. but sometimes In my game loop both touchbegun/end methods get called between two updates and I am missing events. I guess approach is not good. can you guys share your approach to this problem.

• Updating the icons in an ObjectListView

  I'm using an TreeListView (a sub type of ObjectListView) in my current project. Each item in the list is given an icon, but the icon my vary depending on the state of the item. For example if the item is readonly I want to use an icon with a little lock symbol. When the items are first added to the TreeListView the icons are show correctly, yet later when the state of an item changes the icons are not updating. How do I force the control to regenerate all the icons?
