    I have series of files like this: foo1.txt.gz foo2.txt.gz bar1.txt.gz ..etc.. and a tabular format files that describe the file foo1 - Explain foo1 foo2 - Explain foo2 bar1 - Explain bar1 ..etc.. What I want to do is to have a website with a simple search bar and allow people to type foo1 or just foo and finally return the gzipped file(s) and the explanation of the file(s). What's the best way to implement this. Sorry I am totally new in this area.

    I have a notifications app that generates notifications for users. The notification class has to be really general, because notifications are generated by all sorts of different things. My question is this: How do I insert links into the text of the notifications? What I tried was this: note = Notification(..., notification="""%s %s has accepted the task: <a href="/tasks/%d/">%s</a>.""" % (request.user.first_name, request.user.last_name, task.id, task.name), ...) In retrospect, it's obvious this wouldn't work. How should I go about this? Thanks in advance!

  • Why is my condition onsubmit not returning false?

I didn't have troubles making it return false if the submitted value was 0 but I cannot make it return false when it's the string 'Cambia de ciudad". I'm sure I'm messing with the quotes or something like that.   • PHP 6 not backward compatible

    From what I read, PHP 6 will break a lot of php scripts. I understand the reasons why it may break but why don't they just keep the PHP 5 and simply call PHP 6 as a different language based on PHP syntax? Like for example, why not just call php 6 scripts with an extension, "p6"- why are they trying so hard to make it backward compatible for old scripts when the extension can be used to call a specific interpreter?

  • jQuery image fade not working for unknown reason...?

    Just when I thought I was done for the night, another issue is keeping me awake. It appears that somehow I have broken the fade I was using on my thumbnails. If you go here: http://ftframes.com/milad2/ When you hover your mouse of the thumbnails, it should fade up. To give you an idea, this is a working version of the script: http://nothingcantouchme.com/stackoverflow.php#download_page As you can see, the hover works fine with the fade. And please mind the mess on this one, I just added it to demonstrate. Is there anyone that can kindly assist me in solving this issue? I would lie if I told you that I wasn't completely lost.

    I have a list of phone extensions that I want to print a friendly version of it. I have a print css for it to print appropriately onto paper, the extensions are located within an unordered list, which are floated to the left. <ul> <li>Larry Hughes <span class="ext">8291</span></li> <li>Chuck Davis <span class="ext">3141</span></li> <li>Kevin Skillis <span class="ext">5115</span></li> </ul> I float it left, and when it prints the second page, it leaves off the name part of the list (in Firefox, works fine in Google Chrome and IE), see here: http://cl.ly/de965aea63f66c13ba32 I am referring to this: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/goingtoprint/ - they mentioned something about applying a float:none; to the content part of the page.     'This is bizarre bug. I have CSS3 anchors/buttons, which I've continued to strip properties out of, that sometimes require multiple clicks to fire.     Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic. On: http://www.euroworker.no/order, there is meant to be a display of the amount of tax included in the price like: Tax (25%): 772,- Totalt: 3861,- But unless the user has logged in or created a new account, the tax doesn't display.     I'm working on dropdowns in IE6 (SELECT with OPTIONs as children). I'm experiencing the problem where, in IE6, dropdown menus are truncated to the width of the SELECT element. In other browsers, blur causes every OPTION to not be highlighted. Using JS, how can I de-highlight an option after the dropdown has lost focus.

  • Default js included in Rails

    When creating a new Rails application, it is automatically supplied with several quite large js files. In the application layout, by default, all of them are loaded into the page: <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults %> I was wondering, isn't loading all those javascripts can make the site possibly mush slower? And if so, where can I change the definition of :defaults? Or should I just include the ones I need and remove the code line mentioned above? Thank you
