  • Configuring sendmail to use one outbound MTA exclusively

    - by Charlie Martin
I have a sendmail problem, and I'm anything but a sendmail guru -- I could use some help. My problem is that I have a system intended to be more or less an "appliance" -- it's not intended to have an admin. Because of this, it needs to be able to "call home" by sending email. As we have configured it, this works fine -- using sendmail, it finds the appropriate relay by looking up an MX record and everything works fine. Now, however, because of security concerns, we want to limit it to using exactly one relay, so for example relay.corp.example.com. Should the user configure it to use, say, fubar.example.com, the mail sending should fail or be deferred. I thought that by configuring sendmail with a /etc/mail/server.switch file containing hosts files without dns, I'd get that effect. This doesn't work -- instead, if it gets mail addressed to foo@example.com, it tries to talk directly to example.com, and ignores the configured server. Any ideas?

  • htaccess for subdomain help

    - by Patrick
Usually I just use the online tools for url mod_rewrite rules but this just wouldn't work. Dynamic url: http://sub.domain.com/index.php?page=index&name=test Rewritten url: http://sub.domain.com/test OR http://sub.domain.com/test/ My htaccess: RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ index.php?page=index&name=$1 [L] Instead of passing "test" for the variable name, I always get the value "index.php" Anyone gurus has have any idea?

  • Subversion error: Repository moved permanently to please relocate

    - by Bart S.
I've set up subversion and apache on my server. If I browse to it through my webbrowser it works fine (http://svn.host.com/reposname). However, if I do a checkout on my machine I get the following error: Command: Checkout from http://svn.host.com/reposname, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included Error: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.host.com/reposname/'; please relocate I checked apache's error log, but it doesn't say anything. (it does now - see edit) My repositories are stored under: /var/www/svn/repos/ My website is stored under: /var/www/vhosts/x/... Here's the conf file for the subdomain: <Location /> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/www/svn/repos/ AuthType Basic AuthName "Authorization Realm" AuthUserFile /var/www/svn/auth/svn.htpasswd Require valid-user </Location> Authentication works fine. Does anyone know what might be causing this? -- Edit So I restarted apache (again) and tried it again and now it give me an error message, but it doesn't really help. Anyone have an idea what it means? [Wed Mar 31 23:41:55 2010] [error] [client my.ip.he.re] Could not fetch resource information. [403, #0] [Wed Mar 31 23:41:55 2010] [error] [client my.ip.he.re] (2)No such file or directory: The URI does not contain the name of a repository. [403, #190001] -- Edit 2 If I do svn info it doesn't give anything usefull: [root@eduro eduro.nl]# svn info http://svn.domain.com/repos/ Username: username Password for 'username': svn: Repository moved permanently to 'http://svn.domain.com/repos/'; please relocate I also tried doing a local checkout (svn checkout file:///var/www/svn/repos/reposname) and that works fine (also adding / commiting works fine). So it seems is has something to do with apache. Some other information: I'm running CentOs 5.3 Plesk 9.3 Subversion, version 1.6.9 (r901367) -- Edit 3 I tried moving the repositories, but it didn't make any difference. selinux is disabled so that isn't it either. -- Edit 4 Really? Nobody :(?

  • Can't ssh from Ubuntu to RHEL or CentOS

    - by Alex N
I am trying to setup publickey based authenitcation for 2 different boxes. One RHEL another on e is CentOS. I am having same issue with both where ssh fails and falls back to password based authentication. Error that seems to be causing this is quite obscure: debug1: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information Credentials cache file '/tmp/krb5cc_1000' not found Both boxes are completely unrelated. I have my public key in .ssh/authorized_keys file on both boxes, all permissions are checked and good(700 for .ssh and 600 for internals) I have bunch of other servers that are running on various flavors(Gentoo, Fedora, FreeBSD etc.) and publickey ssh works just fine, but CentOS and RHEL giving me this for some reason :( Anyone experienced this before? I am not even sure how to further analyze this issue :(

  • GIT Website Deployment

    - by Brian
I am attempting to setup GIT to deploy my project to different locations based on the branch. (I think this is what I want to do anyway). My current setup is this: Local dev machine running Netbeans to make changes. Remote server hosting GIT projects (same server running apache) - 2 subsites exist a test.FQDN.com and a live.FQDN.com What I would like to do is have 1 GIT project (MyProject) and create a new feature branch. Any commits done to the new feature branch would push to test.FQDN.com. Once the features have been tested and then merged into the master branch, it would push to live.FQDN.com. I have looked at GIT's post-receive hooks and was able to use "git checkout -f" command to pull on the test.FQDN.com site however that only pulls the master branch and not the new feature branch. I do not have any funding to use a third party to make this work, and would prefer to stay within GIT but have full root access to the web server if there is a package to install which would help control this. Any suggestions would be great!

  • How to remove RAID flag on unstriped drive without losing data?

    - by Alex Folland
I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3 motherboard. It advertises this new thing called "XHD", which is like RAID but makes a SSD and traditional-style drive work together to enable high speed with high capacity. I don't want to use this feature, and I already have Windows 7 64 installed without using this feature. When I first installed my 2 hard drives (1 SSD and 1 traditional-style drive) in my machine and booted it up for the first time, it ran a program from the mobo that asked me if I wanted to set up XHD. Thinking it would go to some config screen, I said yes. It immediately started doing something with my drives and finished. I considered that strange, but figured it wouldn't matter when I simply install Windows onto my SSD only. I now have my BIOS and Windows running in AHCI mode with no RAID arrays and separate drives. My SSD is one of those new Corsair Force GT drives which loses power every so often, causing Windows to BSOD. I've figured everything out about this problem, including installing the latest firmware from Corsair, and the only way to fix it at this point is by installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology to control AHCI instead of Windows, since the Windows AHCI driver disables the drive's power every once in a while and can't be configured not to do so. I've tried installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology. When I reboot my machine after doing so, it BSODs just after the Windows logo. I've figured out this is because my SSD and my traditional drive are flagged as RAID, as seen in the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" program found by switching the BIOS hard drive handling to "RAID" mode. This is due to the XHD auto-config program I mentioned earlier. Normally, the BIOS is set to AHCI, and when the drives boot in AHCI mode, they work perfectly. So, I've concluded the data is stored in AHCI mode but the drives' flags are set to RAID. I've figured out that I can accomplish my objective by using the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" program on the mobo (with "Reset disks to non-RAID"), but doing so would cause it to completely wipe the drives I select. I want to simply toggle these flags from RAID to AHCI so Intel Rapid Storage Technology doesn't fail and cause a BSOD upon booting, but without wiping the drives.

  • NFS Issues in Gnome

    - by Alex
I mount NFSv4 export via /etc/fstab and mount and use the shared folder in nautilus. There are two issues: When I copy a large file (around 4 GB) to the NFS server, the progress bar rapidly goes to 2 GB and then basically stops moving. But the copy s still in progress - it is just not displayed well When I disconnect from the network without unmounting the nfs share, nautilus freezes. How can I work around that? /etc/export on the server /export/share 192.168.0.0/24(rw,sync,insecure,no_subtree_check,anonuid=1000,anongid=1000) /etc/fstab on the client: server:/share /mnt nfs4 soft, tcp

  • Configuring Vmware virtual machines to run under different IPs and PC specs

    - by Alex
Right now I'm using a simple VmWare virtual machine with preinstalled Win 7. The IP is assigned automatically (it's the same as main OS IP). Is it possible to create several virtual machines that have different hardware specifications and different IP addresses? Here is what I mean regarding these issues: Specs: Certainly, you can easily change some specifications in the Settings menu (RAM size, HDD size), but what about advanced settings? For example: advanced settings for the Processor: is it AMD (2500+,4000+, etc.. ) or Intel (core 2, Pentium, etc..) Ram - is it Corsair 4 Gb 1333 Mhz or Kingston 2 x 2 Gb 866Mhz or something else? Hdd - Is it Seagate Barracuda 80 gb 5400 Rpm or is it Samsung 500Gb 7200 Rpm or some random SSD? Programs that work under a Virtual Machine shouldn't have a clue if that's a VmWare or not. IPs: Every program that's launched under main OS use the real IP: 93.56.xx.xx All programs that are launched under virtual machine A use IP 1: 74.78.xx.xx All programs that are launched under virtual machine B use IP 2: 84.159.xx.xx I believe that you have to use either VPN or Proxy to solve this problem. The Sum Up: The idea is to create 2-3 independent virtual machines with different hardware specifications and IP addresses. Programs that work under a certain Virtual Machine shouldn't have a clue if that's a VmWare or the real PC. Any ideas/tips or experience regarding configuration will be appreciated!

  • Google analytics and multiple independent subdomains

    - by MTilsted
I need some help trying to setup google analytics correct. Here is my setup: We host sites for multiple customers, and each customer have their own subdomain on our site. So we have customerA.oursite.com and customerB.oursite.com As we add more customers we get more subdomains. We do want to track all data for each customer independent, but I don't want to to create a new google tracking code for each new customer. So my plan is to track all visits with "oursite.com", and then I will create a filter in google Analytics to get data for each specific customer(All visits for a specific subdomain). Is this(One tracking code, and a subdomain filter) the right way to do it? To create a subdomain filter i add a new profile for each customer, and then add a custom filter saying include "Request URI" and fill in "CustomerDomain.oursite.com". Is this the correct way to do it? And a general question about filters: Is it really impossible to create a new filter by applying it to data in an existing profile? I would really like to just collect all the data in one "main" profile and then create subdomain filters as we need them. But it seems that google only apply filters to new incomming data, not existing data. Is this really true? The following is my tracking code. Is '_setDomainName','none' the right thing to do? <script type="text/javascript"> /* Tracking code for qrtown.com */ var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-11584298-10']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'none']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); </script>

  • How to redirect a name-based VirtualHost to a different port?

    - by Andra
I have a virtuoso sparql endpoint installed, which I want to make available through a hostname (e.g. www.virtuosoexample.com). The thing with virtuoso is that the is no Document root. The endpoint is initiated by the daemon and made available through a source port (e.g. localhost:1234/) I know how to set a virtual host pointing to a document root, but i don't know how to do this for a server with a port number. Any advice would be appreciated. Below is the code, how I would do it with a document root. I tried to change that (naively) into localhost:1234/sparql, but that didn't work <VirtualHost * ServerName www.virtuosoexample.com <www.virtuosoexample.com> ServerAlias www.virtuosoexample.com <www.virtuosoexample.com> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.wp-sparql.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.wp-sparql.log combined DocumentRoot /var/www/endpoint/sparql/ <Directory /var/www/endpoint/sparql> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost

  • What virtualization solution should I try next, after hitting problems w/ VMWare Player in dual-netw

    - by Alex R
I have been using VMWare Player 2.5 for a while (Ubuntu guest on Vista host, 32-bit). VMWare had worked great until now but then I hit a brick wall: Due to some reorganization of my home network, the host machine now has to use a wireless connection to reach the Internet, while the printer, fileserver, and other important stuff are attached to a local gigabit hub. I have tried several tricks, such as editing the .vmx file, changing settings in vmnetcfg, etc, but I'm still unable to get the virtual Ubuntu box to connect each of the two virtual NICs to different networks (I did get it to recognize two NICs, but both DHCP'd onto the gigabit LAN). So, I'm ready to dump vmware for something with a little more low-level control of network settings. Virtualization is such a crowded space, I could spend months evaluating every product out there. I'm hoping for a shortcut... Can anyone recommend the best VM for my situation described above? Thanks

  • Windows drive letters A: and B:

    - by Workshop Alex
This is a question that just popped into my mind and I can't help but wonder why it's still common for a Windows installation to be installed on C: with all other drive letters going up from D: to Z:. In the early MS-DOS times, all we had were floppy disks and they were at A:. When the 3.5 inch floppy started to replace the 5.25 floppy, many people had an A: and B: drive. Then the hard disk became popular and the hard disk was at C: because A: and B: were taken. Then the 5.25 floppy disappeared and most computers had a gap between A: and C:. Nowadays, the 3.5 floppy is just too outdated so A: disappeared too. All disks now start at C:. Yeah, I know I can assign my own drive letters and I've done so with my data disks. My installation disk will just continue to be stuck at C: and I don't really mind. I have no problems with drive letters. But why do the new Windows versions just continue to install themselves by default on C: instead of assigning the letter A: to the boot hard disk?

  • Best way to run site through https on server which can't add additional certs

    - by penguin
So I'm in a curious situation in that I am using a particular server to host things, which I can't host anywhere else (it has access to user databases etc which can't otherwise be accessed). I've been in quite a bit of discussion with the sysadmin at it looks like the only way to run our site: www.foo.com over https may be through some sort of proxy. Currently, users go to www.foo.com and are redirected to https:// host-server.com/foo, as there is an SSL cert installed on that. I want users to be on https:// www.foo.com. I'm told that for various reasons it's going to be very difficult to add an additional SSL cert to the host server. So I was wondering if it is possible to have the DNS records point to a new server, which then creates the HTTPS connection with the browser. Then it forwards requests to https:// host-server.com/foo and feeds the replies back to the original requester. Does this make sense? And would it be at all feasible? My experience with SSL is limited at best, so thanks in advance for your help :) ps gaps in hyperlinks as ServerFault was getting unhappy with the number of links I was posting!

  • Django fails to find static files served by nginx

    - by Simon
I know this is a really noobish question but I can't find any solution despite finding the problem trivial. I have a django application deployed with gunicorn. The static files are served by the nginx server with the following url : myserver.com/static/admin/css/base.css. However, my django application keep looking for the static files at myserver.com:8001/static/admin/css/base.css and is obviously failing (404). I don't know how to fix this. Is it a django or an nginx problem ? Here is my nginx configuration file : server { server_name myserver.com; access_log off; location /static/ { alias /home/myproject/static/; } location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8001; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Host $server_name; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; add_header P3P 'CP="ALL DSP COR PSAa PSDa OUR NOR ONL UNI COM NAV"'; } } Thanks for the help !

  • Squid url rewrites https>>http

    - by bobfran
I'm exploring some uses with Squid proxy 2.7 and I have seen a good number of examples for url rewrites that take urls such as: http: //somesitename.com and then the rewriter can change the url to: https: //somesitename.com And those examples work great. What I'm wondering though, is if its possible to do the reverse with a squid url rewriter. that is, to go from https: //somesitename.com to http: //somesitename.com ? Simply trying to edit the script file that handles the rewrites doesn't seem to do the trick. So I was wondering if there are some certain things I have to configure squid to do first, if its even possible to do what I am asking. I have my browser manually set up to have squid as a proxy for all requests and I can see https requests showing up in my squid access.log file (via the CONNECT method).

  • Htaccess strange behaviour with Nginx

    - by Termos
    I have a site running on Nginx (v1.0.14) serving as reverse proxy which proxies requests to Apache (v2.2.19). So Nginx runs on port 80, Apache is on 8080. Overall site works fine except that i cannot block access to certain directories with .htaccess file. For example i have 'my-protected-directory' on 'www.site.com' Inside it i have htaccess with following code: <Files *> order deny,allow deny from all allow from 1.2.3.4 <--- my ip address here </Files> When i try to access this page with my ip (1.2.3.4) i get 404 error which is not what i expect: http://www.site.com/my-protected-directory However everything works as expected when this page is served directly by Apache. I can see this page, everyone else can't. http://www.site.com:8080/my-protected-directory Update. Nginx config (7.1.3.7 is site ip.): user apache; worker_processes 4; error_log logs/error.log; pid logs/nginx.pid; events { worker_connections 1024; } http { include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; log_format main '$remote_addr - $remote_user [$time_local] "$request" ' '$status $body_bytes_sent "$http_referer" ' '"$http_user_agent" "$http_x_forwarded_for"'; sendfile on; keepalive_timeout 65; gzip on; gzip_min_length 1024; gzip_http_version 1.1; gzip_proxied any; gzip_comp_level 5; gzip_types text/plain text/css application/x-javascript text/xml application/xml application/xml+rss text/javascript image/x-icon; server { listen 80; server_name www.site.com site.com 7.1.3.7; access_log logs/host.access.log main; # serve static files location ~* ^.+.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|css|zip|tgz|gz|rar|bz2|doc|xls|exe|pdf|ppt|txt|tar|mid|midi|wav|bmp|rtf|js)$ { root /var/www/vhosts/www.site.com/httpdocs; proxy_set_header Range ""; expires 30d; } # pass requests for dynamic content to Apache location / { proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Range ""; proxy_pass http://7.1.3.7:8080; } } Could please anyone tell me what is wrong and how this can be fixed ?

  • Phishing site uses subdomain that I never registered

    - by gotgenes
I recently received the following message from Google Webmaster Tools: Dear site owner or webmaster of http://gotgenes.com/, [...] Below are one or more example URLs on your site which may be part of a phishing attack: http://repair.gotgenes.com/~elmsa/.your-account.php [...] What I don't understand is that I never had a subdomain repair.gotgenes.com, but visiting it in the web browser gives an actual My DNS is FreeDNS, which does not list a repair subdomain. My domain name is registered with GoDaddy, and the nameservers are correctly set to NS1.AFRAID.ORG, NS2.AFRAID.ORG, NS3.AFRAID.ORG, and NS4.AFRAID.ORG. I have the following questions: Where is repair.gotgenes.com actually registered? How was it registered? What action can I take to have it removed from DNSs? How can I prevent this from happening in the future? This is pretty disconcerting; I feel like my domain has been hijacked. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Recommendations of mail merge freeware?

    - by Chris
At work (Exchange server) our team often needs to send emails to 500+ partners. It's currently a very dull job, so I've tried the merge features in Office 2007. However, it can't: Include a merge field in the subject ("Regarding your account: ") Send to semi-colon separated addresses (one line might be "[email protected];[email protected];eve@partnerone.com") Send from a particular mailbox account, and store all the sent mails in Outlook. Can anyone recommend any free/affordable software which will work with Exchange and can be used commercially?

  • Wordpress login fail after .htaccess domain redirect

    - by Gayan
I use .htaccess to redirect requests to my (new) domain to another domain hosted on different server. The file contains: Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?amazon40\.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://steamsigs.com/amazon40/$1 [R=301,L] The redirection works fine. The home page is redirected to steamsigs.com/amazon40 and wordpress login page shows up correctly (steamsigs.com/amazon40/wp-login.php). But the acutual login process doesn't work. It does not show the control panel and keeps on redirecting to the login page. Could be that something's interfering with the GET/POST vars but I'm not sure about this. I'd appreciate any your help to resolve this.

  • Nginx + Apache + Wordpress redirects to localhost/127.0.0.1

    - by jcrcj
Anyone know how to fix an issue with Nginx + Apache + Wordpress redirecting to localhost/127.0.0.1? I've tried a lot of different fixes, but none have worked for me. I can go to http://domain.com/wp-admin just fine and use everything there normally. But if I try to go to http://domain.com it redirects to 127.0.0.1. Everything also works fine if I just run through Apache. Here are the relevant portions of my nginx.conf: server { listen 80; server_name domain.com; root /var/www/html/wordpress; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php; } location ~ \.php$ { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; } } Here are the relevant portions of my httpd.conf: Listen *:8080 ServerName <ip> <VirtualHost *:8080> ServerAdmin test@test DocumentRoot /var/www/html/wordpress ServerName domain.com </VirtualHost> This is what my nginx log loks like: <ip> - - [19/Jun/2012:22:35:35 +0400] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 301 0 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 This is what my httpd log looks like: 127.0.0.1 - - [19/Jun/2012:22:24:46 +0400] "GET /index.php HTTP/1.0" 301 - "-" -- WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) both have same http://domain.com

  • How to force or redirect to SSL in nginx?

    - by Callmeed
I have a signup page on a subdomain like: https://signup.mysite.com It should only be accessible via HTTPS but I'm worried people might somehow stumble upon it via HTTP and get a 404. My html/server block in nginx looks like this: html { server { listen 443; server_name signup.mysite.com; ssl on; ssl_certificate /path/to/my/cert; ssl_certificate_key /path/to/my/key; ssl_session_timeout 30m; location / { root /path/to/my/rails/app/public; index index.html; passenger_enabled on; } } } What can I add so that people who go to http://signup.mysite.com get redirected to https://signup.mysite.com ? (FYI I know there are Rails plugins that can force SSL but was hoping to avoid that)

  • SSD as primary or secondary drive on a small Linux server?

    - by Alex Martelli
I'm pensioning off my 10-years-old home server and replacing it with an Ubuntu 10.04 box. The two storage devices are a Western Digital Caviar Green 2.0TB HD and an Intel X25-M 34nm Gen 2 80GB SATA II 2.5inch SSD (the box has 8GB RAM and an i5 750, if it matters). I don't care much about boot times (since I don't plan to reboot all that often;-); the main frequent, performance-demanding task will be (re)building large open source C or C++ software packages from sources (as an open source contributor, I do that often). So, I thought I'd keep the SSD as the secondary drive and the HD as the primary one, using the SSD mostly for the files that can otherwise demand a lot of seeking (esp. in a parallel make). However, the friendly vendor (perhaps more experienced in Windows systems than in Linux ones) thinks the "normal" way to configure the machine would be with the SSD as the primary drive. I'm pretty rusty on configuring and tuning systems, so, I thought I'd better double check on SuperUser... thanks in advance for advice about this choice!
