    - by MAS1
    Hi guys, I want to know how to call Ajax function Recursively. My ajax code is like this, <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> var step='1'; $.ajax ( { url: 'test1.php', data: {step: step}, success: function(output) { step=eval(output); alert(step); } } ); </script> </head> </html> And php code is like this <?php function writeName() { echo "step=2"; } function ReadName() { echo "In Read Name Function"; } if(isset($_REQUEST['step']) && !empty($_REQUEST['step'])) { $step = $_REQUEST['step']; switch($step) { case '1' : writeName(); break; case '2' : ReadName(); break; default : echo "Empty String"; } } ?> first time this function is get called with value of step variable equal to 1 and Function Write name modified it as 2.   • Facebook app submit action type

    - by Axel
    I've been reading about this on StackOverflow and facebook doc, yet I dont seem to be able to submit my action type. I have the following code from the FB doc <script type="text/javascript"> console.log("Function begins"); function postForm() { console.log(FB); FB.api( '/me/concoursvelirium:form', 'post', { recipe: 'http://concours.gestev.com/fbvel2012/form.php' }, function(response) { console.log("Stay"); if (!response || response.error) { console.log("error: " + response); } else { console.log('Cook was successful! Action ID: ' + response.id); } }); } </script> I have added my values from FB autogenerated values: <head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/ns/fb# concoursvelirium: http://ogp.me/ns/fb/concoursvelirium#"> <meta property="fb:app_id" content="194081877384051" /> <meta property="og:type" content="concoursvelirium:form" /> <meta property="og:url" content="Put your own URL to the object here" /> <meta property="og:title" content="Sample Form" /> <meta property="og:image" content="https://s-static.ak.fbcdn.net/images/devsite/attachment_blank.png" /> And yet I see no output in the console past the console.log(FB); I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I'm also getting the Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL error, but I have read here that I should just ignore it. Ty, Axel

  • Suggest joomla html editor extension/software

    - by DMin
    I've started using Joomla 1.5 recently and am using the TinyMCE online WYSIWYG editor that comes with the package to edit articles. I tend to write direct html and javascript rather than use the WYSIWYG functions, I find that after the first time the changes are applied(page updated) most of your html becomes 4-5 separate big paragraphs. Its very hard to find stuff in there cause the content has no formatting -- eg: <p><span id="psy_ass_span" class="pink_heading">Psychometric Assessment</span></p> <div id="psy_ass_div" class="pink_box"><img class="img_right" src="templates/teamwork.jpg" border="0" /> <p><strong>Emporkommen</strong> uses <strong>Psychometric assessment</strong> as a tool in order to gain insight into a person’s personality and psychological thinking. It can help develop team spirit in t <script src="plugins/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js" type="text/javascript"></script> he workplace and assess an individual’s priorities.</p> Plus obviously there is no code highlighting in the editor so you can't figure out what is what. My question is, do you guys know of good(preferably non-commercial) extensions or other softwares or techniques that can make editing html code in Joomla 1.5 articles easier even after applying changes several times.

  • Jquery event to fire in ajax loaded content, IE & FF problem

    - by Sylph
    Hello, I'm trying to trigger onclick events in an ajax loaded content but it doesn't seem to work. Here is my code :- <li><a href="#" id="subtopic">Title</a></li> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#subtopic").click(function() { url: test.html ,success: function(data) { $('#result').html(data); $(".filetree").treeview(); $('#result').click(); $('#result').trigger("update"); } }); }); }); </script> In my loaded content, :- <a href="#" id="addSubTopic">Click here</a> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { alert("000"); }); $(function() { $("#addSubTopic").click(function() { alert("0"); $.ajax({ url: url, success: function(data) { $("#listRes").append(data); } }); }); }); </script> In IE, it works fine, the click works and I can get the "alert" but in Firefox, the whole thing just go dead. However, my jquery plugin for $(".filetree").treeview(); works fine for both IE and FF. Any advice? I have tried using .live, .trigger("update"). Thanks in advance

  • Problem with dropdownbox length

    - by vikitor
    Hello, I'm creating a javascript method that populates lists depending on a radio button selected previously. As it depends on animals or plants to populate it, my problem comes when I have to populate it after it's already been populated. I mean, the plants dropdownlist has 88 elements, and the animals is 888, when I try to come back from animals to plants, I get some of the animals. I know that my controller method is working properly because it returns the values I select, so the problem is the javascript method. Here is the code: if(selector == "sOrder") alert(document.getElementById(selector).options.length); for (i = 0; i < document.getElementById(selector).options.length; i++) { document.getElementById(selector).remove(i); } if (selector == "sOrder") alert(document.getElementById(selector).options.length); document.getElementById(selector).options[0] = new Option("-select-", "0", true, true); for (i = 1; i <= data.length; i++) { document.getElementById(selector).options[i] = new Option(data[i - 1].taxName, data[i - 1].taxRecID);} Here is the strange thing, when I enter the method I try to erase all the elements of the dropdownlist in order to populate it afterwards. As sOrder is the same selector I had previously selected, I get the elements, the thing is that the first alert I get the proper result, 888, but in the second alert, I should get a 0 right? It shows 444, so when I populate it again it just overrides the first 88 plants and then animals till 444. What am I doing wrong? Thank you all in advance, Victor

  • Mirth is Not Picking Up Updated JAR File?

    - by ashes999
    I have some Mirth code (javascript) that's consuming one of my Java classes (let's call it SimpleClass). It seems that Mirth is not picking up my changes to my class. SimpleClass used to look something like this: public class Simpleclass { public SimpleClass(String one) { // do something with one } } Now it looks like: public class Simpleclass { public SimpleClass(String one, String two) { // store one and two } public void Execute() { // do something with one and two } } When I try and call SimpleClass with two strings, I get the error "Java constructor for SimpleClass with arguments string, string not found." When I try to run Execute, I get an error similar to "TypeError: method Execute not found." Perplexingly, I can still call SimpleClass("one string") to call the one-string constructor (which is now nowhere to be seen in the code). To get my code to work, I build a JAR file using ant, and deploy it to \\lib\custom. I have tried: Copying the new JAR and restarting Mirth while it's live Copying the new JAR after stopping Mirth, then starting Mirth Looking for other copies of my JAR or Mirth installations (there are none) Unzipping and reverse-engineering the JAR (it has the two-constructor code) Hashing the JAR (it matches what I'm building in ant) Restarting my computer (hey, you never know) I'm at a loss. I'm not sure why I'm not seeing the latest code. My channel has very simple Javascript: var sp = new Packages.com.hs.channel.scarborough.ScarboroughParser("one", "two"); I know it's not a configuration error of any kind, since this used to work (and does still work, albeit with the old code -- single-parameter constructor).

  • Regex is capturing the whole string

    - by M28
    I am using the following regex: (public|private +)?function +([a-zA-Z_$][0-9a-zA-Z_$]*) *\\(([0-9a-zA-Z_$, ]*)\\) *{(.*)} To match the following string: public function messenger(text){ sendMsg(text); } private function sendMsg(text){ alert(text); } (There is no line breaks in the string, they are converted to whitespaces before the regex runs) I wanted it to capture both functions, but it is capturing: $1: "" $2: "messenger" $3: "text" $4: " sendMsg(text); } private function sendMsg(text){ alert(text); " By the way, I am using Javascript.

  • Dojo DataGrid, programmatic creation

    - by djna
    I'm trying to create a DataGrid dynamically. Declarative creation is working fine: A source of data: <span dojoType="dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore" jsId="theStore" url="dataonly001.json"> </span> a simple layout: <script type="text/javascript" > var layout = [ { field: 'custId', name: 'Id', } // more items elided ... ]; </script> The grid: <body class="tundra" id="mainbody"> <div id="grid" dojoType="dojox.grid.DataGrid" store="theStore" structure="layout" autoWidth="true" ></div> </body> And I get the grid displayed nicely. Instead, I want to create the grid dynamically. For the sake of figuring out what's broken I've tried to use exactly the same layout and store, removing just teh grid declaration and adding this script: <script type="text/javascript" djConfig="parseOnLoad: true, debugAtAllCosts: true"> dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ // initialise and lay out home page console.log("Have a store:" + theStore); console.log("Have a structure:" + layout); var grid = new dojox.grid.DataGrid({ id:"grid", store : theStore, clientSort : "true", structure : layout }); grid.startup(); dojo.place(grid.domNode, dojo.body(), "first"); }); </script> The effect that I get is a completely empty rectangle is displayed. Using FireBug I can see that the DataGrid widget is created but that it has no rows or columns. So my guess is that the datastore or layout are not being passed correctly. However, it does appear that at the point of creation the values of theStore and layout are correct. Suggestions please, or indeed a working example of a programmic grid might solve the problem.

  • JQuery datepicker not working

    - by IniTech
    I'm completely new to JQuery and MVC. I'm working on a pet project that uses both to learn them and I've hit my first snag. I have a date field and I want to add the JQuery datepicker to the UI. Here is what I have done: Added <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> to the site.master Inside my Create.aspx (View), I have <asp:Content ID="Create" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <h2> Create a Task</h2> <% Html.RenderPartial("TaskForm"); %> </asp:Content> and inside "TaskForm" (a user control) I have: <label for="dDueDate"> Due Date</label> <%= Html.TextBox("dDueDate",(Model.Task.TaskID > 0 ? string.Format("{0:g}",Model.Task.DueDate) : DateTime.Today.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy"))) %> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#dDueDate").datepicker(); }); </script> As you can see, the above checks to see if a task has an id 0 (we're not creating a new one) if it does, it uses the date on the task, if not it defaults to today. I would expect the datepicker UI element to show up, but instead I get: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" on the $("#dDueDate").datepicker(); Ideas? It is probably a very simple mistake, so don't over-analyze. As I said, this is the first time I've dealt with MVC or JQuery so I'm lost as to where to start.

  • CSS Menu disappear

    - by WtFudgE
    Hi, I created a menu in html/css but where I wanted the subitems to be shown on parent item hover. The problem is when I hover on it in IE it only shows it's subitems when I hover on the text in the menu item, If I hover over the element and not the text the subitems disappear again. So if I hover and want to move my mouse to my submenu the submenu disappears unless I'm fast enough. This is very annoying, does anyone know how I can solve this? MY menu code is like so: <ul id="leftnav"> Item1 SubItem1 SubItem2 SubItem3 Item2 SubItem1 SubItem2 SubItem3 The menu should be a left sided menu which shows it's subitems only on hover, so I used css to achieve this with the following code: #leftnav, #leftnav ul { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #leftnav ul li { margin-left: 102px; position: relative; top: -19px; /*sets the childitems on the same height as the parent item*/ } #leftnav li { float: left; width: 100px; } #leftnav ul { position: absolute; width: 100px; left: -1000px; /*makes it disappear*/ } #leftnav li:hover ul, #leftnav li.ie_does_hover ul { left: auto; } #leftnav a { display: block; height: 15px; margin-top: 2px; margin-bottom: 2px; } Since this only works with firefox I also had to insert a javascript to get this to work in IE using code: <script language="JavaScript"> sfHover = function() { var sfElsE = document.getElementById("leftnav").getElementsByTagName("LI"); for (var i=0; i<sfElsE.length; i++) { sfElsE[i].onmouseover=function() { this.className+=" ie_does_hover"; } sfElsE[i].onmouseout=function() { this.className=this.className.replace(new RegExp(" ie_does_hover\\b"), ""); } } } if (window.attachEvent) window.attachEvent("onload", sfHover); </script> Many many many thanks for replies

  • Readability and IF-block brackets: best practice

    - by MasterPeter
    I am preparing a short tutorial for level 1 uni students learning JavaScript basics. The task is to validate a phone number. The number must not contain non-digits and must be 14 digits long or less. The following code excerpt is what I came up with and I would like to make it as readable as possible. if ( //set of rules for invalid phone number phoneNumber.length == 0 //empty || phoneNumber.length > 14 //too long || /\D/.test(phoneNumber) //contains non-digits ) { setMessageText(invalid); } else { setMessageText(valid); } A simple question I can not quite answer myself and would like to hear your opinions on: How to position the surrounding (outermost) brackets? It's hard to see the difference between a normal and a curly bracket. Do you usually put the last ) on the same line as the last condition? Do you keep the first opening ( on a line by itself? Do you wrap each individual sub-condition in brackets too? Do you align horizontally the first ( with the last ), or do you place the last ) in the same column as the if? Do you keep ) { on a separate line or you place the last ) on the same line with the last sub-condition and then place the opening { on a new line? Or do you just put the ) { on the same line as the last sub-condition? Community wiki. EDIT Please only post opinions regarding the usage and placement of brackets. The code needs not be re-factored. This is for people who have only been introduced to JavaScript a couple of weeks ago. I am not asking for opinions how to write the code so it's shorter or performs better. I would only like to know how do you place brackets around IF-conditions.

  • radgrid insert using radwinow

    - by Hamza
    Hello Everybody, The company details page in my system has a user control to show the founders of the company, that user control represents the founders by using a Rad Grid and three buttons for insert/edit/delete founders, the founders grid is being bind by using a WCF service. the insert button calls a javascript method that opens a Rad Window in which the user can insert the data for a new founder my problem is: in the Add Founder Rad Window I shouldn't save the new founder in the database, when I press Add the Rad Grid should be closed and the new founder should be added to the founders Grid's datasource, and then the grid should be bind again the questions is: what is the best way to do that, I don't want to use sessions nor json, I tried to use another wcf service which takes two parameters: reference to the grid and the new founder, and in this wcf service I get the old datasource then add the new founder to it and finally rebind the grid again, but I have faced some problems like how can I send the reference to the grid from javascript method to a WCF service, also if I add more than one founder how can keep track of the new founders and the original datasource if any of you can lead me to an example similar to my case this would be very much appreciated, also any comments and feedback are most welcomed

  • Ruby page loading very very slowly - how should I speed it up?

    - by Elliot
    Hey guys, I'm going to try and describe the code in my view, without actually posting all the garbage: It has a standard shell (header, footer etc. in the layout) this is also where the sub navigation exists which is based on a loop (to find the amount of options) - on this page, we have 6 subnav links. Then in the index view, we have a 3rd level nav - with 3 links that use javascript to link/hide divs on the page. This means each of those original 6 options, all have their own 3'rd level nav, with each of their own 3 div pages. These three pages/divs have the input form for creating a record in rails, and then the other 2 pages show the records in different assortments. ALL of this code lives on one page (aside from the shell). The original sub nav uses a javascript tab solution, to browse through all of it... (this means its about 6 divs, which all contain 4 divs of function - so about 24 heavy divs). Loading it seems to take forever, although after loaded its extremely fast (obviously). My big question, is how should I attack this? I don't know ajax - although I imagine it'd be a good solution for loading the tabs when clicked. Thanks! Elliot

  • Web Automation Tool

    - by Aaron
    I've realized I need a full-fledged browser automation tool for testing user interactions with our JavaScript widget library. I was using qunit, starting with unit testing and then I unwisely started incorporating more and more functional tests. That was a bad idea: trying to simulate a lot of user actions with JavaScript. The timing issues have gotten out of control and have made the suite too brittle. Now I spend more time fixing the tests, then I do developing. Is it possible to find a browser automation tool that works in: Windows XP: IE6,7,8, FF3 OSX: Safari, FF3 ? I've looked into SeleniumIDE and RC, but there seems to be some IE8 problems. I've also seen some things about Google's WebDriver, which confusingly seems to work with Selenium. Our organziation has licenses for IBM's Rational Functional Tester, but I don' think that will work on the MAC. The idea is to try to run tests on all the browsers our organization supports. Doable? Are my requirements unrealistic? Any recommendations as far as software to try? Thanks!

  • jQuery Adding DOM Elements

    - by Aren B
    This may be a simple answer, but I'm trying to add a dom-created element (i.e. document.createElement(...)) to a jQuery Selector. jQuery has a great assortment of functions for adding html .html(htmlString) .append(htmlString) .prepend(htmlString) But what i want to do is add a dom OBJECT var myFancyDiv = document.createElement("div"); myFancyDiv.setAttribute("id", "FancyDiv"); // This is the theoretical function im looking for. $("#SomeOtherDiv").htmlDom(myFancyDiv);

  • Debugging site written mainly in JScript with AJAX code injection

    - by blumidoo
    Hello, I have a legacy code to maintain and while trying to understand the logic behind the code, I have run into lots of annoying issues. The application is written mainly in Java Script, with extensive usage of jQuery + different plugins, especially Accordion. It creates a wizard-like flow, where client code for the next step is downloaded in the background by injecting a result of a remote AJAX request. It also uses callbacks a lot and pretty complicated "by convention" programming style (lots of events handlers are created on the fly based on certain object names - e.g. current page name, current step name). Adding to that, the code is very messy and there is no obvious inner structure - the functions are scattered in the code, file names do not reflect the business role of the code, lots of functions and code snippets are most likely not used at all etc. PROBLEM: How to approach this code base, so that the inner flow of the code can be sort-of "reverse engineered" using a suite of smart debugging tools. Ideally, I would like to be able to attach to the running application and step through the code, breaking on each new function call. Also, it would be nice to be able to create a "diagram of calls" in the application (i.e. in order to run a particular page logic, this particular flow of function calls was executed in a particular order). Not to mention to be able to run a coverage analysis, identifying potentially orphaned code fragments. I would like to stress out once more, that it is impossible to understand the inner logic of the application just by looking at the code itself, unless you have LOTS of spare time and beer crates, which I unfortunately do not have :/ (shame...) An IDE of some sort that would aid in extending that code would be also great, but I am currently looking into possibility to use Visual Studio 2010 to do the job, as the site itself is a mix of Classic ASP and ASP.NET (I'd say - 70% Java Script with jQuery, 30% ASP). I have obviously tried FireBug, but I was unable to find a way to define a breakpoint or step into the code, which is "injected" into the client JS using AJAX calls (i.e. the application retrieves the code by invoking an URL and injects it to the client local code). Venkman debugger had similar issues. Any hints would be welcome. Feel free to ask additional questions.

  • Jquery get each div's sub child divs and grab info into an array

    - by McNabbToSkins
    I have a some html that looks like this <div id="main"> <div id="sub_main_1" class="sub_main"> <input type="text" class="sub_name_first" /><br /> <input type="text" class="sub_name_second" /><br /> </div> <div id="sub_main_2" class="sub_main"> <input type="text" class="sub_name_first" /><br /> <input type="text" class="sub_name_second" /><br /> </div> </div> I would like to pull out each sub_main divs information into an array in javascript. So far I have this as my jquery code $('#main').find('.sub_main').each( function() { alert('hi'); }); The alert is just a test that it should show "hi" twice. But this is not working. I am also not clear on how I can store the two inputs in a javascript array. Any help would be great! Thanks,
