• Cocoa - Enumerate mutable array, removing objects

  Hey there, I have a mutable array that contains mutable dictionaries with strings for the keys latitude, longitude and id. Some of the latitude and longitude values are the same and I want to remove the duplicates from the array so I only have one object per location. I can enumerate my array and using a second enumeration review each object to find objects that have different ids, but the same latitude and longitude, but if I try to remove the object, I'm muting the array during enumeration. Is there any way to remove objects from an array while enumerating so I only enumerate the current set of objects as the array is updated? Hope this question makes sense. Thanks, Howie

• QGraphicsView and eventFilter

  Hello everyone, This has been bugging me for more than two days now, so i thought i should ask. I am using Qt 4.5.3 (compiled with VC2008) on Win7. I have MyGraphicsView (inherits QGraphicsView) and MyFilter (inherits QObject) classes. When i install the MyFilter object as an event filter to MyGraphicsView, Mouse events are delivered to MyFilter after they are delivered to MyGraphicsView whereas Key events are delivered to MyFilter before they are delivered to MyGraphicsView. In the second case, i install the MyFilter object as an event filter to MyGraphicsView-viewport() (which is a standart QGLWidget), Mouse events are delivered to MyFilter before they are delivered to MyGraphicsView, whereas Key events are delivered to only MyGraphicsView. The events are supposed to be delivered to event filters before they are delivered to the actual object, so why is this happening? What should i do to ensure this order? Thanks in advance.   I installed gmaps4rails for my Rails app, ran the generator, and required the two files like this in my application.js file, along with underscore.js //= require underscore //= require gmaps4rails/gmaps4rails.base //= require gmaps4rails/gmaps4rails.googlemaps adding, as instructed on github https://github.com/apneadiving/Google-Maps-for-Rails, these dependencies in layout.html.erb When I tried to create the demo map from the github page with this code, I got an error that the object doesn't have a build method. • Misunderstanding I have about javascript prototype inheritance

  Simple questions. function p() { function A() { this.random = "random"; } A.prototype.newfunc = function(){ alert("5");} function B() { } B.prototype = new A(); var bObj = new B(); } Q1: When I set B's prototype, I don't get how B's prototype property will update when/if A's prototype is updated. I mean, to me it just inherits/copies all those properties. It's not like it's: B.prototype = A.prototype where B and A are one in the same. Q2: After A is being returned and intialized to the prototype object of B, how does JS know not to include that prototype property? What I mean is, we never have this type of situation occuring as the JS interpreter knows just to chop off the property of A's prototype: B.prototype = new A(); //any A object has an associated prototype object B.prototype.prototype;//after initialization we no longer have the separate prototype property of A

  I have a grid datawindow with a picture in it's background (with dimensions of an A4 page) and I would like to export both data and the picture as a (single page) PDF file.   During my NSIS setup script for a WinForms app, I use the following CACLS command to give the Users group full rights to a subfolder: Exec 'CACLS "$INSTDIR\SubFolder" /E /T /C /G "Users":F' So in effect the CACLS command executed is something like: CACLS "c:\Program Files\MyApp\SubFolder" /E /T /C /G "Users":F When I then look at the Folder permissions in Windows Explorer (right click on the folder and choose Properties, go to the Security tab), the correct permissions are there but they are uneditable. Furthermore, clicking the Advanced button for the 'Advanced Security Settings' shows that SubFolder is inheriting the "Users" group permissions from a 'Parent Object', but what is that Parent Object, because its not the folder above. Why are the permissions added by CACLS uneditable, and why are they inherited from nonexistent parent object? I thinking I may have set the options on CACLS wrong. I'm on Windows XP.

  I define a method inside a parametrized role that needs to create a new class at run time using Moose::Meta::Class->create and apply that exact parametrized role to it. I am also making a new method for that role using $new_class->meta->add_method( some_name => sub { my ($self) = @_; ... }) inside the sub {...} I want to access a method of the consumer class and use it for something, I have tried using $self->get_method, it didn't work, how do I do this? Please notice that the $self inside the sub above is MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable I also have another question, if I do this: my $object = Moose::Meta::Class->create( "some_type", ); Why isn't $object of type some_type and it's some ugly MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable and how do I get to the object of type some_type?

• "Collection was modified..." Issue

  Hey guys, I've got a function that checks a list of objects to see if they've been clicked and fires the OnClick events accordingly. I believe the function is working correctly, however I'm having an issue: When I hook onto one of the OnClick events and remove and insert the element into a different position in the list (typical functionality for this program), I get the "Collection was modified..." error. I believe I understand what is going on: The function cycles through each object firing OnClick events where necessary An event is fired and the object changes places in the list per the hooked function An exception is thrown for modifying the collection while iterating through it My question is, how to do I allow the function to iterate through all the objects, fire the necessary events at the proper time and still give the user the option of manipulating the object's position in the list?   I know similar questions have been asked before. I'm using the Sync Demo app I found online here, which uses Picture Sharing as a guide. I've integrated it into my desktop and iphone apps and have the connection working, but am clueless as to how to actually sync my objects. Is it as simple as if ([iphone Object] != [desktop object]) { //merge the two } I have the exact same object model used, I just basically want to know how to check if there are differences, and copy the ones that are different over.   I use 3rd party COM to find faces in a picture. One of the methods has the following signature, from SDK: long FindMultipleFaces( IUnknown* pIDibImage, VARIANTARG* FacePositionArray ); Parameters: pIDibImage[in] - The image to search. FacePositionArray[out]- The array of FacePosition2 objects into which face information is placed. This array is in a safe array (VARIANT) of type VT_UNKNOWN. The size of the array dictates the maximum number of faces for which to search. which translates into the following C# method signature (from metadata): int FindMultipleFaces(object pIDibImage, ref object pIFacePositions); Being optimistic I call it the following way but get an exception that the memory is corrupt. The exception is thrown only when a face is present in the image. FacePosition2[] facePositions = new FacePosition2[10]; object positions = facePositions; int faceCount = FaceLocator.FindMultipleFaces(dibImage, ref positions); What's the right way to pass SAFEARRAY to unmanaged code?

• release does not free up memory in low-memory condidtion

  I am trying to follow the Apple's recommendation to handle low-memory warnings (found in Session 416 of WWDC 2009 videos) by freeing up resources used by freeing up my dataController object (referenced in my app delegate) that contains a large number of strings for read from a plist: - (void)applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning:(UIApplication *)application { [_dataController release]; _dataController = nil; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning bottom... retain count:%i", [_dataController retainCount]]); } But when I run ObjectAlloc within Instruments and simulate a Low-Memory Condition, I don't see a decrease in the memory used by my app even though I see the NSLog statements written out and the retain count is zero for the object. I do pass references to the app delegate around to some of the view controllers. But the code above releases the reference to the _dataController object (containing the plist data) so I would expect the memory to be freed. Any help would be appreciated.

  Hello, I am wondering if there's an elegant solution for doing this in Java (besides the obvious one - of declaring a different/explicit function. Here is the code: private static HashMap<String, Integer> nameStringIndexMap = new HashMap<String, Integer>(); private static HashMap<Buffer, Integer> nameBufferIndexMap = new HashMap<Buffer, Integer>(); // and a function private static String newName(Object object, HashMap<Object, Integer> nameIndexMap){ .... } The problem is that I cannot pass nameStringIndexMap or nameBufferIndexMap parameters to the function. I don't have an idea about a more elegant solution beside doing another function which explicitly wants a HashMap<String, Integer> or HashMap<Buffer, Integer> parameter. Essentially the question is about how to "extract" the information from a JSON object.

  Hello, I need to run the HttpContext.Current.Server.Execute method in my ASP.NET application. This application has a WCF operation that does some processing. Currently, I am to do my processing correctly from within my WCF operation. However, I would like to do this asynchronously. In an error to attempt this asynchronously, I tried running Server.Execute in the DoWork event handler of a BackgroundWorker. Unfortunately, this throws an error that says "object reference not set to an instance of an object" The HttpContext element is not null. I checked that. It is some property nested in the HttpContext object that appears to be null. However, I have not been able to identify why this won't work. It happens as soon as I move the processing to the BackgroundWorker thread. My question is, how can I asynchronously execute the Server.Execute method? Thank you,

• Difference between implementing an interface and applying an attribute in C#

  This might be a stupid question but Ill ask anyway, I was reading "OOP Demystified: A Self-Teaching Guide by Jim Keogh and Mario Giannini" chapter 11 which covers interfaces. The examples in this book are C++. I noticed that C++ uses ISerializable to make a class serializable which you would implement where as in C# you just attribute the class with the [Serializable] attribute. What is the key difference here? Is it that with an interface you must provide the implementation where as if you attribute something the compiler will work out the implementation for you? I guess that with the [Serializable] attribute the .Net framework uses reflection to make the serialized object from the actual object. That said is it possible in that case to have an [Disposable] attribute or using my theory above the framework wont know how to actually dispose of an object hence you have to do it yourself? Would be grateful for a clarification. Thanks.

• How can I exceed the 60% Memory Limit of IIS7 in ASP.NET Caching application

  Pardon if this is more serverfault vs. stackoverflow. It seems to be on the border. We have an application that caches a large amount of product data for an e-commerce application using ASP.NET caching. This is a dictionary object with 65K elements, and our calculations put the object's size at ~10GB. Problem: The amount of memory the object consumes seems to be far in excess of our 10GB calculation. BIGGEST CONCERN: We can't seem to use over 60% of the 32GB in the server. What we've tried so far: In machine.config/system.web (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): processModel autoConfig="true" memoryLimit="80" In web.config/system.web/caching/cache (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): privateBytesLimit = "20000000000" (and 0, the default of course) percentagePhysicalMemoryUsedLimit = "90" Environment: Windows 2008R2 x64 32GB RAM IIS7 Nothing seems to allow us to exceed the 60% value.   I'm trying to run 'dali' a highcharts exporter from nodejs on my Mac under OSX Mountain Lion I'm getting the following error: module.js:485 process.dlopen(filename, module.exports); ^ Error: dlopen(/Users/greg/node_modules/daemon/lib/daemon.v0.8.8.node, 1): no suitable image found. How do I get and install the 64 bit version of this lib?

• Adding a sortcomparefunction to Dynamic Data Grid in flex

  Hi, I am trying to create a dynamic datagrid in Flex 3, I have a list of columns a list of objects which correspond to datapoints for those columns which I fetch from a url. While the grid works perfectly fine the problem is that sorting on the columns is done in lexical order. I am aware that this can be fixed by adding a sortcomparefunction to a column, which is not easy for this case. I have tried doing var dgc:DataGridColumn = new DataGridColumn(dtf); f1[dtf] = function(obj1:Object, obj2:Object):int { return Comparators.sortNumeric(obj1[dtf],obj2[dtf]); }; dgc.sortCompareFunction = f1[dtf];` But the problem is that the function object that I am creating here is being overwritten in every iteration (as I am adding columns) and eventually all the columns will have sorting done only on the last column added. Suggestions please.

From what I understand TypeDescriptor.GetProperties() will return custom TypeDescriptor properties, where as Type.GetProperties() will only return intrinsic "real" properties of the object. Is this right? If obj doesn't have any custom TypeDescriptor properties then it just defaults to also returning the literal intrinsic properties of the object. * Original second line of code before EDIT (had wrong return value): PropertyDescriptorCollection B = obj.GetType().GetProperties();

• Dynamicdata Validation Exception Message Caught in JavaScript, not DynamicValidator

  I have a page here with a few list views on it that are all bound to Linq data sources and they seem to be working just fine. I want to add validation such that when a checkbox (IsVoid on the object) is checked, comments must be entered (VoidedComments on the object). Here's the bound object's OnValidate method: partial void OnValidate(ChangeAction action) { if (action == ChangeAction.Update) { if (_IsVoid) { string comments = this.VoidedComments; if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(this._VoidedComments)) { throw new ValidationException("Voided Comments are Required to Void an Error"); } } } } Despite there being a dynamic validator on the page referencing the same ValidationGroup as the dynamic control, when the exception fires, it's caught in JavaScript and the debugger wants to break in. The message is never delivered to the UI as expected. Any thoughts as to What's going on?

• Any competitors to db4o on compact framework?

  We've been trying db4o for persisting objects on the compact framework. It works very well from our tests so far. However, it appears they are on the expensive side for small startups with minimal units needed. Does anyone know of any similar object databases for the compact framework? How about a open source one that is free for commercial use? :) Thank you. EDIT: We're really looking for an object database. We don't want to create our own persistence framework at this point and would prefer being able to just save/retrieve the actual object trees.
