  Hello guys; I have a conceptual question... I am making an Intranet application (Web platform) for a company. I have a SQL Server DB with these tables: Users (userID, userName, userPass, roleID) Roles (roleID, roleName) Pages (pageID, pageURL) RolesXPages(pageID, roleID) How is the best way to create a structure to store all this information while the user navigates the site, I mean, on the thread I should be able to check his role, his pages (the ones he can access) I have been reading and there is a lot of stuff there where Im confused, I saw the MembershipProvider, IPrincipal, IIdentity, etc classes but Im not sure what should be the best one for me. Any thoughts... Thanks in advance! Edit: Everytime gets more confusing... I just want to handle those structures at runtime and be able to mantain state during page callbacks or changing pages...

  after showing the ModalPopupExtender, there are two radio buttons that are displayed as part of the popup. When you select the second radio button, I display more information in a gridview control. When the ModalPopupExtender first displays, I have it set at 40% for width and height for the panel associated with the popup. After clicking the second radio button, I would like to resize the popup to 80% for width and height. My question is how do you resize ModalPopupExtender after it's initial popup?

  I have 5 links that are on the same form but I would like them all to reference the same AJAX modalpopup extender. I am basically showing a panel with the same view layout with just different data depending on which link is pressed, showing different match scores from games. The only way I can get it to work is have 5 panels with unique names and each link references its own panel. Can I get all the links to call one panel? Thanks

  The Problem: The user entered value is missing in the .Text attribute of the AjaxControlToolkit ComboBox when the enter key pressed. Also the “on change” events events are not called but I am not using postbacks anyway so I do not care. • Duplicate content in ASP.NET MVC because of custom routes MapRoute(), are areas the rescue?

  I use custom routes for my URLs and my action become accessible via two URLs (not counting trailing slash and lower\upper case letters): one via my custom route /my-custom-route-url/ and one via default /controller/action. I see one possible solution -- put all controllers which use default routing (they are mostly backend) in one area, and place all others in separate area and use it without default route. May be there is a better way?

  I have had some problems with authentication in ASP.NET. I'm not used most of the built in authentication in .NET. I gotten some complaints from users using Internet Explorer (any version - may affect other browsers as well) that the login process proceeds but when redirected they aren't authenticated and are bounced back to loginpage (pages that require authentication check if logged in and if not redirect back to loginpage). Can this be a cookie problem? Do I need to check if cookies are enabled by the user? What's the best way to build authentication if you have a custom member table and don't want to use ASP.NET login controls? • Small web-framework like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET

  Are there any similar frameworks like Sinatra, Ramaze etc in .NET? I'm in theory after a framework that let's me create an entire webapp with just one classfile (conceptually) like Sinatra. I'm going to use it for something work-internal, where ASP.NET MVC is too "big" (and I get confused by it's usage) and I have WebForms up to my ears right now (doing a big webforms based project, currently hating it ;) ) Any suggestions? Oh, and I need to be able to host it in IIS. I would go for IronRuby with Sinatra, but I can't find a step-by-step tut for setting it up in IIS ;)

• Common DataAnnotations in ASP.Net MVC2

  Howdy, I have what should be a simple question. I have a set of validations that use System.CompontentModel.DataAnnotations . I have some validations that are specific to certain view models, so I'm comfortable with having the validation code in the same file as my models (as in the default AccountModels.cs file that ships with MVC2). But I have some common validations that apply to several models as well (valid email address format for example). When I cut/paste that validation to the second model that needs it, of course I get a duplicate definition error because they're in the same namespace (projectName.Models). So I thought of removing the common validations to a separate class within the namespace, expecting that all of my view models would be able to access the validations from there. Unexpectedly, the validations are no longer accessible. I've verified that they are still in the same namespace, and they are all public. I wouldn't expect that I would have to have any specific reference to them (tried adding using statement for the same namespace, but that didn't resolve it, and via the add references dialog, a project can't reference itself (makes sense). So any idea why public validations that have simply been moved to another file in the same namespace aren't visible to my models?   I've got very dynamic GridView and I need to allow to user to edit first column of it. After he edit first column of grid it must be updated on DataBase. Is there any ways to handle it ? My only idea is to put some changeable element to first cell of each Row so it must be able to set / get my values for each row but can't find yet any examples of it ... Additional info : GridView takes data from Object data source and all columns are dynamic (yes, maybe except first, but I add it in dynamic way) and load complete DataTable...

This may be due to absent or incorrectly specified EndpointIdentity in the EndpointAddress used to create the channel. Please verify the EndpointIdentity specified or implied by the EndpointAddress correctly identifies the remote endpoint. • How to retarget the scroll wheel in VB.Net?

  I have a form in VB.Net with Autoscroll enabled and several ComboBoxes within it. When I click on a ComboBox, I can use the mouse wheel to scroll through options, but I cannot deselect the ComboBox (by clicking off it on a blank portion of the parent form) in order to return to scrolling the parent form. This makes navigation in the form annoying, as I instinctively click off the control and flip the scroll wheel, causing the ComboBox to change selections instead of moving the parent form. Is there a way to make this work in the intuitive way I expect it to, or do I have some conceptual confusion that makes this the wrong question to ask?

• DateTime from Javascript post to Controller in ASP.NET results in null (01/01/0001)

  This is driving me crazy, similar to this. If I use a standard form and no javascript the controller correctly binds the datetime. However when I'm posting from a form it always binds as null: "MyObject.Name": "Test name", "MyObject.Date": "5/1/2001" I've tried a couple of variations, 5-1-2001, etc. but cannot seem to get it to take. I can confirm that it is being passed to the server as it shows up in the Request.Form string. My culture is Gregorian and I've set: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture; In Application_BeginRequest(). What gives?

  Hi I know stackoverflow uses open authentication. I want to try and use this as well. I am using asp.net mvc 2.0 with C#.
