  • error 2016: Condition cannot be specified for Column member

    - by IP
I am having some issues with Entity Framework in VS2010 The problem I'm getting is described very well here... http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/adonetefx/thread/cacf6a76-09a8-4c90-9502-d8b87c2f6bea It's basically happening when a Foreign key is pointed at the primary key of another table...but if I take off the StoreGeneratedPattern as "Identity", then it tries to insert a value into the identity field ** EDIT So, what it seems to be is that EF4 can't handle a null relationship when the primary key is set to StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity". If I create a FK pointing to this primary key, and make it nullable (effectively creating a 0...M relationship), then it throws this compilation error. Removing StoreGeneratedPattern="Identity" fixes the issue, but causes issues elseware It works if the foreign key is set to not nullable

  • Ambiguous access to base class template member function

    - by Johann Gerell
In Visual Studio 2008, the compiler cannot resolve the call to SetCustomer in _tmain below and make it unambiguous: template <typename TConsumer> struct Producer { void SetConsumer(TConsumer* consumer) { consumer_ = consumer; } TConsumer* consumer_; }; struct AppleConsumer { }; struct MeatConsumer { }; struct ShillyShallyProducer : public Producer<AppleConsumer>, public Producer<MeatConsumer> { }; int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { ShillyShallyProducer producer; AppleConsumer consumer; producer.SetConsumer(&consumer); // <--- Ambiguous call!! return 0; } This is the compilation error: // error C2385: ambiguous access of 'SetConsumer' // could be the 'SetConsumer' in base 'Producer<AppleConsumer>' // or could be the 'SetConsumer' in base 'Producer<MeatConsumer>' I thought the template argument lookup mechanism would be smart enough to deduce the correct base Producer. Why isn't it? I could get around this by changing Producer to template <typename TConsumer> struct Producer { template <typename TConsumer2> void SetConsumer(TConsumer2* consumer) { consumer_ = consumer; } TConsumer* consumer_; }; and call SetConsumer as producer.SetConsumer<AppleConsumer>(&consumer); // Unambiguous call!! but it would be nicer if I didn't have to...

  • Lamda functions in php

    - by Oden
Hey, Im really interested in the way of using lamda functions. Does it make sense to use them in a high-level programming language? If yes, why? Is this really just a function embedded in a function, (Like this) or is there more behind?

  • Eager/Lazy loaded member always empty with JPA one-to-many relationship

    - by Kaleb Pederson
    I have two entities, a User and Role with a one-to-many relationship from user to role. Here's what the tables look like: mysql> select * from User; +----+-------+----------+ | id | name | password | +----+-------+----------+ | 1 | admin | admin | +----+-------+----------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) mysql> select * from Role; +----+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ | id | description | name | summary | +----+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ | 1 | administrator's role | administrator | Administration | | 2 | editor's role | editor | Editing | +----+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) And here's the join table that was created: mysql> select * from User_Role; +---------+----------+ | User_id | roles_id | +---------+----------+ | 1 | 1 | | 1 | 2 | +---------+----------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) And here's the subset of orm.xml that defines the tables and relationships: <entity class="User" name="User"> <table name="User" /> <attributes> <id name="id"> <generated-value strategy="AUTO" /> </id> <basic name="name"> <column name="name" length="100" unique="true" nullable="false"/> </basic> <basic name="password"> <column length="255" nullable="false" /> </basic> <one-to-many name="roles" fetch="EAGER" target-entity="Role" /> </attributes> </entity> <entity class="Role" name="Role"> <table name="Role" /> <attributes> <id name="id"> <generated-value strategy="AUTO"/> </id> <basic name="name"> <column name="name" length="40" unique="true" nullable="false"/> </basic> <basic name="summary"> <column name="summary" length="100" nullable="false"/> </basic> <basic name="description"> <column name="description" length="255"/> </basic> </attributes> </entity> Yet, despite that, when I retrieve the admin user, I get back an empty collection. I'm using Hibernate as my JPA provider and it shows the following debug SQL: select user0_.id as id8_, user0_.name as name8_, user0_.password as password8_ from User user0_ where user0_.name=? limit ? When the one-to-many mapping is lazy loaded, that's the only query that's made. This correctly retrieves the one admin user. I changed the relationship to use eager loading and then the following query is made in addition to the above: select roles0_.User_id as User1_1_, roles0_.roles_id as roles2_1_, role1_.id as id9_0_, role1_.description as descript2_9_0_, role1_.name as name9_0_, role1_.summary as summary9_0_ from User_Role roles0_ left outer join Role role1_ on roles0_.roles_id=role1_.id where roles0_.User_id=? Which results in the following results: +----------+-----------+--------+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ | User1_1_ | roles2_1_ | id9_0_ | descript2_9_0_ | name9_0_ | summary9_0_ | +----------+-----------+--------+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ | 1 | 1 | 1 | administrator's role | administrator | Administration | | 1 | 2 | 2 | editor's role | editor | Editing | +----------+-----------+--------+----------------------+---------------+----------------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec) Hibernate obviously knows about the roles, yet getRoles() still returns an empty collection. Hibernate also recognized the relationship sufficiently to put the data in the first place. What problems can cause these symptoms?

  • C#: Put member variables into a list.

    - by David
Hi all Assuming I have a method which accepts an IList or similar thing as a parameter: public void JiggleMyList(IList<string> list)... Is there an easy way that I can pass in string members of a list of objects? I mean, if for example, I have a list of Person objects which expose a string property called FullName, is there a quick way to stuff the FullNames of all the Person objects into the method parameter, or do I have to create a new List and iterate through the Person objects: List<string> fullNames = new List<string>; foreach (Person person in people) { fullNames.Add(person.FullName); } JiggleMyList(fullNames); I come across this all the time, and it would be nice if there was a shortcut. Many thanks David

  • Storing member function pointers of derived classes in map

    - by Kiran Mohan
Hello, I am trying to implement a factory for two classes Circle, Square both of which inherits from Shape. class Shape { public: virtual static Shape * getInstance() = 0; }; class Circle : public Shape { public: static const std::string type; Shape * getInstance() { return new Circle; } }; const std::string Circle::type = "Circle"; class Square : public Shape { public: static const std::string type; Shape * getInstance() { return new Square; } }; const std::string Square::type = "Square"; I want to now create a map with key as shape type (string) and value as a function pointer to getInstance() of the corresponding derived class. Is it possible? Thanks, Kiran

  • Set Covering : Runtime hang\error at function call in c

    - by EnthuCrazy
I am implementing a set covering application which uses cover function int cover(set *skill_list,set *player_list,set *covering) Suppose skill_set={a,b,c,d,e}, player_list={s1,s2,s3} then output coverin ={s1,s3} where say s1={a,b,c}, s3={d,e} and s2={b,d}. Now when I am calling this function it's hanging at run (set_cover.exe stopped working). Here is my cover function: typedef struct Spst_{ void *key; set *st; }Spst; int cover(set *skill_list,set *player_list,set *covering) { Liste *member,*max_member; Spst *subset; set *intersection; void **data; int max_size; set_init(covering); //to initialize set covering initially while(skill_list->size>0&&player_list->size>0) { max_size=0; for(member=player_list->head;member!=NULL;member=member->next) { if(set_intersection(intersection,((Spst *)(member->data))->st,skill_list)!=0) return -1; if(intersection->size>max_size) { max_member=member; max_size=intersection->size; } set_destroy(intersection); //at the end of iteration } if(max_size==0) //to check for no covering return -1; subset=(Spst *)max_member->data; //to insert max subset from play list to covering set set_inselem(covering,subset); for(member=(((Spst *)max_member->data)->st->head);member!=NULL;member=member->next) //to rem elem from skill list { data=(void **)member->data; set_remelem(skill_list,data); } set_remelem(player_list,(void **)subset); //to rem subset from set of subsets play list } if(skill_list->size>0) return -1; return 0; } Now assuming I have defined three set type sets(as stated above) and calling from main as cover(skills, subsets, covering);=> runtime hang Here Please give inputs on the missing link in this or the prerequisites for a proper call to this function type required. EDIT: Assume other functions used in cover are tested and working fine.

  • Using typedefs from a template class in a template (non-member) function

    - by atomicpirate
The following fails to compile (with gcc 4.2.1 on Linux, anyway): template< typename T > class Foo { public: typedef int FooType; }; void ordinary() { Foo< int >::FooType bar = 0; } template< typename T > void templated() { Foo< T >::FooType bar = T( 0 ); } int main( int argc, char **argv ) { return 0; } The problem is with this line: Foo< T >::FooType bar = 0; ...and the compiler makes this complaint: foo.c: In function ‘void templated()’: foo.c:22: error: expected `;' before ‘bar’ Normally one sees this when a type hasn't been declared, but as far as I can tell, Foo< T ::FooType should be perfectly valid inside templated().

  • vector::erase with pointer member

    - by matt
I am manipulating vectors of objects defined as follow: class Hyp{ public: int x; int y; double wFactor; double hFactor; char shapeNum; double* visibleShape; int xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax; Hyp(int xx, int yy, double ww, double hh, char s): x(xx), y(yy), wFactor(ww), hFactor(hh), shapeNum(s) {visibleShape=0;shapeNum=-1;}; //Copy constructor necessary for support of vector::push_back() with visibleShape Hyp(const Hyp &other) { x = other.x; y = other.y; wFactor = other.wFactor; hFactor = other.hFactor; shapeNum = other.shapeNum; xmin = other.xmin; xmax = other.xmax; ymin = other.ymin; ymax = other.ymax; int visShapeSize = (xmax-xmin+1)*(ymax-ymin+1); visibleShape = new double[visShapeSize]; for (int ind=0; ind<visShapeSize; ind++) { visibleShape[ind] = other.visibleShape[ind]; } }; ~Hyp(){delete[] visibleShape;}; }; When I create a Hyp object, allocate/write memory to visibleShape and add the object to a vector with vector::push_back, everything works as expected: the data pointed by visibleShape is copied using the copy-constructor. But when I use vector::erase to remove a Hyp from the vector, the other elements are moved correctly EXCEPT the pointer members visibleShape that are now pointing to wrong addresses! How to avoid this problem? Am I missing something?

  • Explicitly instantiating a generic member function of a generic structure

    - by Dennis Zickefoose
I have a structure with a template parameter, Stream. Within that structure, there is a function with its own template parameter, Type. If I try to force a specific instance of the function to be generated and called, it works fine, if I am in a context where the exact type of the structure is known. If not, I get a compile error. This feels like a situation where I'm missing a typename, but there are no nested types. I suspect I'm missing something fundamental, but I've been staring at this code for so long all I see are redheads, and frankly writing code that uses templates has never been my forte. The following is the simplest example I could come up with that illustrates the issue. #include <iostream> template<typename Stream> struct Printer { Stream& str; Printer(Stream& str_) : str(str_) { } template<typename Type> Stream& Exec(const Type& t) { return str << t << std::endl; } }; template<typename Stream, typename Type> void Test1(Stream& str, const Type& t) { Printer<Stream> out = Printer<Stream>(str); /****** vvv This is the line the compiler doesn't like vvv ******/ out.Exec<bool>(t); /****** ^^^ That is the line the compiler doesn't like ^^^ ******/ } template<typename Type> void Test2(const Type& t) { Printer<std::ostream> out = Printer<std::ostream>(std::cout); out.Exec<bool>(t); } template<typename Stream, typename Type> void Test3(Stream& str, const Type& t) { Printer<Stream> out = Printer<Stream>(str); out.Exec(t); } int main() { Test2(5); Test3(std::cout, 5); return 0; } As it is written, gcc-4.4 gives the following: test.cpp: In function 'void Test1(Stream&, const Type&)': test.cpp:22: error: expected primary-expression before 'bool' test.cpp:22: error: expected ';' before 'bool' Test2 and Test3 both compile cleanly, and if I comment out Test1 the program executes, and I get "1 5" as I expect. So it looks like there's nothing wrong with the idea of what I want to do, but I've botched something in the implementation. If anybody could shed some light on what I'm overlooking, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why build Javascript functions as JQuery plugins?

    - by Mohammad
I've seen alot of JQuery implementations of existent JavaScript functions that merely wrap the JavaScript code in a JQuery wrapper and don't actually rely on any of JQuery's base for their operation. What are the benefits of using Javascript as a JQuery plugin? If there are none is there a speed loss to use a JQuery plugin that could have easily been implemented outside the wrapper just as well? Many thanks in advance (just trying to learn something here).

  • Accidental Complexity in OpenSSL HMAC functions

    - by Hassan Syed
SSL Documentation Analaysis This question is pertaining the usage of the HMAC routines in OpenSSL. Since Openssl documentation is a tad on the weak side in certain areas, profiling has revealed that using the: unsigned char *HMAC(const EVP_MD *evp_md, const void *key, int key_len, const unsigned char *d, int n, unsigned char *md, unsigned int *md_len); From here, shows 40% of my library runtime is devoted to creating and taking down **HMAC_CTX's behind the scenes. There are also two additional function to create and destroy a HMAC_CTX explicetly: HMAC_CTX_init() initialises a HMAC_CTX before first use. It must be called. HMAC_CTX_cleanup() erases the key and other data from the HMAC_CTX and releases any associated resources. It must be called when an HMAC_CTX is no longer required. These two function calls are prefixed with: The following functions may be used if the message is not completely stored in memory My data fits entirely in memory, so I choose the HMAC function -- the one whose signature is shown above. The context, as described by the man page, is made use of by using the following two functions: HMAC_Update() can be called repeatedly with chunks of the message to be authenticated (len bytes at data). HMAC_Final() places the message authentication code in md, which must have space for the hash function output. The Scope of the Application My application generates a authentic (HMAC, which is also used a nonce), CBC-BF encrypted protocol buffer string. The code will be interfaced with various web-servers and frameworks Windows / Linux as OS, nginx, Apache and IIS as webservers and Python / .NET and C++ web-server filters. The description above should clarify that the library needs to be thread safe, and potentially have resumeable processing state -- i.e., lightweight threads sharing a OS thread (which might leave thread local memory out of the picture). The Question How do I get rid of the 40% overhead on each invocation in a (1) thread-safe / (2) resume-able state way ? (2) is optional since I have all of the source-data present in one go, and can make sure a digest is created in place without relinquishing control of the thread mid-digest-creation. So, (1) can probably be done using thread local memory -- but how do I resuse the CTX's ? does the HMAC_final() call make the CTX reusable ?. (2) optional: in this case I would have to create a pool of CTX's. (3) how does the HMAC function do this ? does it create a CTX in the scope of the function call and destroy it ? Psuedocode and commentary will be useful.

  • C# thread functions not properly sharing a static data member

    - by Umer
I have a class as following public class ScheduledUpdater { private static Queue<int> PendingIDs = new Queue<int>(); private static bool UpdateThreadRunning = false; private static bool IsGetAndSaveScheduledUpdateRunning = false; private static DataTable ScheduleConfiguration; private static Thread updateRefTableThread; private static Thread threadToGetAndSaveScheduledUpdate; public static void ProcessScheduledUpdates(int ID) { //do some stuff // if ( updateRefTableThread not already running) // execute updateRefTableThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(UpdateSchedulingRefTableInThrear)); // execute updateRefTableThread.Start(); //do some stuff GetAndSaveScheduledUpdate(ID) } private static void UpdateSchedulingRefTableInThrear() { UpdateSchedulingRefTable(); } public static void UpdateSchedulingRefTable() { // read DB and update ScheduleConfiguration string query = " SELECT ID,TimeToSendEmail FROM TBLa WHERE MODE = 'WebServiceOrder' AND BDELETE = false "; clsCommandBuilder commandBuilder = new clsCommandBuilder(); DataSet ds = commandBuilder.GetDataSet(query); if (ds != null && ds.Tables.Count > 0 && ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count > 0) { List<string> lstIDs = new List<string>(); for (int i = 0; i < ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count; i++) { lstIDs.Add(ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["ID"].ToString()); if (LastEmailSend.Contains(ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["ID"].ToString())) LastEmailSend[ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["ID"].ToString()] = ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["TimeToSendEmail"].ToString(); else LastEmailSend.Add(ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["ID"].ToString(), ds.Tables[0].Rows[i]["TimeToSendEmail"].ToString()); } if (lstIDs.Count > 0) { string Ids = string.Join(",", lstIDs.ToArray()).Trim(','); dhDBNames dbNames = new dhDBNames(); dbNames.Default_DB_Name = dbNames.ControlDB; dhGeneralPurpose dhGeneral = new dhGeneralPurpose(); dhGeneral.StringDH = Ids; DataSet result = commandBuilder.GetDataSet(dbNames, (object)dhGeneral, "xmlGetConfigurations"); if (result != null && result.Tables.Count > 0) { if (ScheduleConfiguration != null) ScheduleConfiguration.Clear(); ScheduleConfiguration = result.Tables[0]; } } } } public static void GetAndSaveScheduledUpdate(int ID) { //use ScheduleConfiguration if (ScheduleConfiguration == null)[1] UpdateSchedulingRefTable(); DataRow[] result = ScheduleConfiguration.Select("ID = "+ID); //then for each result row, i add this to a static Queue PendingIDs } } The function UpdateSchedulingRefTable can be called any time from outside world (for instance if someone updates the schedule configuration manually) ProcessScheduledUpdates is called from a windows service every other minute. Problem: Datatable ScheduleConfiguration is updated in the UpdateSchedulingRefTable (called from outside world - say manually) but when i try to use Datatable ScheduleConfiguration in GetAndSaveScheduledUpdate, i get the older version of values.... What am I missing in this stuff??? About EDIT: I thought the stuff i have not shown is quite obvious and possibly not desired, perhaps my structure is wrong :) and sorry for incorrect code previously, i made a simple function call as a thread initialization... sorry for my code indentation too because i don't know how to format whole block...

  • Objective-C basics: subclassing and member variable accessability

    - by Krumelur
Hi, Code below is pseudo code. Imagine a class "Fruit" which has a factory method to create a fruit. interface Fruit { } +(Fruit*) createFruit: { return [[Fruit alloc] init autorelease]; } Now I want to subclass the Fruit to get an Apple: interface Apple : Fruit { int iSeeds; } +(Apple*) createAppleWithColor: (int) iSeeds { Apple* oApple = [Apple createFruit:]; oApple.iSeeds = iSeeds; return oApple; } Questions: How can I make "iSeeds" private so it cannot be changed from outside? If I add a "private" keyword it does not build anymore. Still I want to set iSeeds from inside my Apple's factory method. I want users allow to READ the content of iSeeds. So I suppose I should have a getter but I can't get it to work. I always get some error about "LValue assignment". The Fruit's createFruit is making use of autorelease. Does the Apple have to reatin/release anything? René

  • iPhone: error: request for member 'table' in something not a structure or union

    - by Jack Griffiths
Hi there, When it comes to compiling my application, I get the error mentioned in the title. How would I go about remedying this error? Basically, I want to get from one table to the other. Hierarchy, navigation. NextViewController.m #import "RootViewController.h" #import "NextViewController.h" @implementation NextViewController - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview // Release anything that's not essential, such as cached data } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } - (IBAction) changeTable:(NSString *)str{ tblCSS.table = str; } The last line contains the error. If you need any more code, just ask. I'll amend this post with it. Cheers, Jack

  • Spring: Inject static member (System.in) via constructor

    - by Julian Lettner
I wrote some sort of console client for a simple application. To be more flexible, I thought it would be nice to only depend on java.io.Input-/OutputStream, instead of accessing System.in/out directly. I renamed the class ConsoleClient to StreamClient, added setters and made sure that the instance fields are used instead of System.in/out. At the moment my client code looks like this: ApplicationContext appCtx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("..."); StreamClient cc = (StreamClient) appCtx.getBean("streamClient"); cc.setInputStream(System.in); cc.setOutputStream(System.out); cc.run(); // start client Question: Is there a way to move lines 3 and 4 into the Spring configuration (preferably constructor injection)? Thanks for your time.
