  • Entity Framework - Using Transactions or SaveChanges(false) and AcceptAllChanges()?

    - by mark smith
Hi there, I have been investigating transactions and it appears that they take call of them selves in EF as long as i pass false to savechanges.. SaveChanges(false) and if all goes well then AcceptAllChanges() Question is what is something goes bad, don't have to rollback? or as soon as the my method goes out of scope its ended? What happens to any indentiy columns that were assigned half way through the transaction.. i presume if somebody else added a record after mine before mine went bad then this means there will be a missing Identity value. Is there any reason to use standard "transactionScope" in code? ideas? - thanks

  • How to add Transactions with a DataSet created using the Add Connection Wizard?

    - by RoguePlanetoid
I have a DataSet that I have added to my project where I can Insert and Add records using the Add Query function in Visual Studio 2010, however I want to add transactions to this, I have found a few examples but cannot seem to find one that works with these. I know I need to use the SQLClient.SQLTransaction Class somehow. I used the Add New Data Source Wizard and added the Tables/View/Functions I need, I just need an example using this process such as How to get the DataConnection my DataSet has used. Assuming all options have been set in the wizard and I am only using the pre-defined adapters and options asked for in this wizard, how to I add the Transaction logic to my Database. For example I have a DataSet called ProductDataSet with the XSD created for this, I have then added my Stock table as a Datasource and Added an AddStock method with a wizard, this also if a new item calls an AddItem method, if either of these fails I want to rollback the AddItem and AddStock in this case.

  • Threaded Django task doesn't automatically handle transactions or db connections?

    - by Gabriel Hurley
I've got Django set up to run some recurring tasks in their own threads, and I noticed that they were always leaving behind unfinished database connection processes (pgsql "Idle In Transaction"). I looked through the Postgres logs and found that the transactions weren't being completed (no ROLLBACK). I tried using the various transaction decorators on my functions, no luck. I switched to manual transaction management and did the rollback manually, that worked, but still left the processes as "Idle". So then I called connection.close(), and all is well. But I'm left wondering, why doesn't Django's typical transaction and connection management work for these threaded tasks that are being spawned from the main Django thread?

  • Is it possible from Spring to inject the result of calling a method on a ref bean?

    - by Alex Worden
Hi, Is it possible from Spring to inject the result of calling a method on a ref bean? I'm trying to refactor some cut/pasted code from two separate projects into a common class. In one of the projects, the code lives in a class I'll call "MyClient" that is being instantiated from Spring. It is injected with another spring-instantiated class "MyRegistry", then the MyClient class uses that class to look up an endpoint. All I really need is the endpoint String in my refactored class, which can be initialized via a Setter. I really cannot have a dependency on MyRegistry from MyClient in the refactored code. So, my question is this... is there a way I can inject the endpoint String from spring that was looked up in the MyRegistry class. So, I currently have: <bean id="registryService" class="foo.MyRegistry"> ...properties set etc... </bean> <bean id="MyClient" class="foo.MyClient"> <property name="registry" ref="registryService"/> </bean> But I'd like to have (and I know this is imaginary Spring syntax) <bean id="MyClient" class="foo.MyClient"> <property name="endPoint" value="registryService.getEndPoint('bar')"/> </bean> where MyRegistry will have a method getEndPoint(Stirng endPointName) Hope that makes sense from a the standpoint of what I'm trying to achieve. Please let me know if something like this is possible in Spring!

  • How to make Spring load a JDBC Driver BEFORE initializing Hibernate's SessionFactory?

    - by Bill_BsB
I'm developing a Spring(2.5.6)+Hibernate(3.2.6) web application to connect to a custom database. For that I have custom JDBC Driver and Hibernate Dialect. I know for sure that these custom classes work (hard coded stuff on my unit tests). The problem, I guess, is with the order on which things get loaded by Spring. Basically: Custom Database initializes Spring load beans from web.xml Spring loads ServletBeans(applicationContext.xml) Hibernate kicks in: shows version and all the properties correctly loaded. Hibernate's HbmBinder runs (maps all my classes) LocalSessionFactoryBean - Building new Hibernate SessionFactory DriverManagerConnectionProvider - using driver: MyCustomJDBCDriver at CustomDBURL I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL Hibernate loads the Custom Dialect My CustomJDBCDriver finally gets registered with DriverManager (log messages) SettingsFactory runs SchemaExport runs (hbm2ddl) I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL (again?!) Application get successfully deployed but there are no tables on my custom Database. Things that I tried so far: Different techniques for passing hibernate properties: embedded in the 'sessionFactory' bean, loaded from a hibernate.properties file. Nothing worked but I didn't try with hibernate.cfg.xml file neither with a dataSource bean yet. MyCustomJDBCDriver has a static initializer block that registers it self with the DriverManager. Tried different combinations of lazy initializing (lazy-init="true") of the Spring beans but nothing worked. My custom JDBC driver should be the first thing to be loaded - not sure if by Spring but...! Can anyone give me a solution for this or maybe a hint for what else I could try? I can provide more details (huge stack traces for instance) if that helps. Thanks in advance.

  • Custom Filter Problem?

    - by mr.lost
    greetings all,iam using spring security 3 and i want to perform some logic(saving some data in the session) when the user is visiting the site and he's remembered so i extended the GenericFilterBean class and performed the logic in the doFilter method then complete the filter chain by calling the chain.doFilter method,and then inserted that filter after the remember me filter in the security.xml file? but there's a problem is the filter is executed on each page even if the user is remembered or not is there's something wrong with the filter implementation or the position of the filter? and i have a simple question,is the filter chain by default is executed on each page? and when making a custom filter should i add it to the web.xml too? the filter class: package projects.internal; import java.io.IOException; import javax.servlet.FilterChain; import javax.servlet.ServletException; import javax.servlet.ServletRequest; import javax.servlet.ServletResponse; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired; import org.springframework.security.core.Authentication; import org.springframework.security.core.context.SecurityContextHolder; import org.springframework.web.filter.GenericFilterBean; import projects.ProjectManager; public class rememberMeFilter extends GenericFilterBean { private ProjectManager projectManager; @Autowired public rememberMeFilter(ProjectManager projectManager) { this.projectManager = projectManager; } @Override public void doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse res, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { System.out.println("In The Filter"); Authentication auth = (Authentication) SecurityContextHolder .getContext().getAuthentication(); HttpServletResponse response = ((HttpServletResponse) res); HttpServletRequest request = ((HttpServletRequest) req); // if the user is not remembered,do nothing if (auth == null) { chain.doFilter(request, response); } else { // the user is remembered save some data in the session System.out.println("User Is Remembered"); chain.doFilter(request, response); } } } the security.xml file: <beans:beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/security" xmlns:beans="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd http://www.springframework.org/schema/security http://www.springframework.org/schema/security/spring-security-3.0.xsd"> <global-method-security pre-post-annotations="enabled"> </global-method-security> <http use-expressions="true" > <remember-me data-source-ref="dataSource"/> <intercept-url pattern="/" access="permitAll" /> <intercept-url pattern="/images/**" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/scripts/**" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/styles/**" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/p/login" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/p/register" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/p/forgot_password" filters="none" /> <intercept-url pattern="/p/**" access="isAuthenticated()" /> <custom-filter after="REMEMBER_ME_FILTER" ref="rememberMeFilter" /> <form-login login-processing-url="/j_spring_security_check" login-page="/p/login" authentication-failure-url="/p/login?login_error=1" default-target-url="/p/dashboard" authentication-success-handler-ref="myAuthenticationHandler" always-use-default-target="false" /> <logout/> </http> <beans:bean id="myAuthenticationHandler" class="projects.internal.myAuthenticationHandler" /> <beans:bean id="rememberMeFilter" class="projects.internal.rememberMeFilter" > </beans:bean> <authentication-manager alias="authenticationManager"> <authentication-provider> <password-encoder hash="md5" /> <jdbc-user-service data-source-ref="dataSource" /> </authentication-provider> </authentication-manager> </beans:beans> any help?

  • JavaOne: Parleys.com, Spring Vs. Java EE and HTML5 tooling

    - by delabassee
Parleys.com, a 2012 Duke's Choice Award winner, is an E-Learning platform that host content from different sources (conferences, JUGs meetings, etc.). There is a lot of technical content available for online but also offline consumption, including many sessions on Java EE. Parleys has just released, for free, all the Devoxx 2011 sessions (video and slides sync'ed!). From a technical point of view, Parleys.com is interesting as they have switched from Spring to Java EE 6 to avoid being locked in a proprietary framework. During the GlassFish Community BoF, Stephan Janssen (Parleys.com and Devoxx founder) also presented how GlassFish is used to support 2000 concurrent Parleys users over a cluster of 2 GlassFish instances. Talking about Java EE and/or Spring, Harshad Oak has posted an update on the 'Spring Vs. Java EE' panel discussion that took place on Tuesday. As Arun said standards such as Java EE does not necessarily refrain innovation: "JBoss Forge & Arquillian from RedHat are great examples of innovation in the JavaEE community. Standardization is important but innovation does continue even within that framework." Simplicity, productivity along with HTML5 are the driving themes of Java EE 7. In terms of simplicity and productivity, the developer experience can also be improved by the tooling. Every NetBeans release comes with a large set of improvements, the just released NetBeans 7.3 beta is no exception. The goal of ‘NB 7.3’s Project Easel’ is to improve HTML5 development, something that will be handy for Java EE 7 developers. Project Easel can, for example, communicate directly to Chrome's WebKit engine, this feature was shown during Sunday's Technical Keynote at the end of the Java EE section. In this beta release, Chrome and the embedded JavaFX browser are the only supported browsers but the NetBeans team plan to add support, over time, for other WebKit based browsers. • Mock versus Implementation. How to share both approaches in a single Test class ?

    - by Arthur Ronald F D Garcia
Hi, See the following Mock Test by using Spring/Spring-MVC public class OrderTest { // SimpleFormController private OrderController controller; private OrderService service; private MockHttpServletRequest request; @BeforeMethod public void setUp() { request = new MockHttpServletRequest(); request.setMethod("POST"); Integer orderNumber = 421; Order order = new Order(orderNumber); // Set up a Mock service service = createMock(OrderService.class); service.save(order); replay(service); controller = new OrderController(); controller.setService(service); controller.setValidator(new OrderValidator()); request.addParameter("orderNumber", String.valueOf(orderNumber)); } @Test public void successSave() { controller.handleRequest(request, new MockHttpServletResponse()); // Our OrderService has been called by our controller verify(service); } @Test public void failureSave() { // Ops... our orderNumber is required request.removeAllParameters(); ModelAndView mav = controller.handleRequest(request, new MockHttpServletResponse()); BindingResult bindException = (BindingResult) mav.getModel().get(BindingResult.MODEL_KEY_PREFIX + "command"); assertEquals("Our Validator has thrown one FieldError", bindException.getAllErrors(), 1); } } As you can see, i do as proposed by Triple A pattern Arrange (setUp method) Act (controller.handleRequest) Assert (verify and assertEquals) But i would like to test both Mock and Implementation class (OrderService) by using this single Test class. So in order to retrieve my Implementation, i re-write my class as follows @ContextConfiguration(locations="/app.xml") public class OrderTest extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests { } So how should i write my single test to Arrange both Mock and Implementation OrderService without change my Test method (sucessSave and failureSave) I am using TestNG, but you can show in JUnit if you want regards,

  • @Autowire strange problem

    - by Javi
Hello, I have a strange behaviour when autowiring I have a similar code like this one, and it works @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2{ ... } The problem is that I need that the Class2 implements an interface so I've only changed the Class2 so it's now like: @Controller public class Class1 { @Autowired private Class2 object2; ... } @Service @Transactional public class Class2 implements IServiceReference<Class3, Long>{ ... } public interface IServiceReference<T, PK extends Serializable> { public T reference(PK id); } with this code I get a org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type for Class2. It seems that @ Transitional annotation is not compatible with the interface because if I remove the @Transitional annotation or the "implements IServiceReference" the problem disapears and the bean is injected (though I need to have both in this class). It also happens if I put the annotation @Transitional in the methods instead of in the Class. I use Spring 3.0.2 if this helps. Is not compatible the interface with the transactional method? May it be a Spring bug? Thanks

  • Can not find Driver when using generic database bundle

    - by Marc
I have a project that is build up from several OSGi bundles. One of them is a generic Database bundle that defines a DataSource that can be used throughout the project. The spring bean definition of this service is: <osgi:service interface="javax.sql.DataSource"> <bean class="org.postgresql.ds.PGPoolingDataSource"> <property name="databaseName" value="xxx" /> <property name="serverName" value="xxx" /> <property name="user" value="xxx" /> <property name="password" value="xxx" /> </bean> </osgi:service> Now, when using this DataSource is a different bundle, we get an error: No suitable driver found for jdbc:postgresql://localhost/xxx I have tried the following to add the org.postgresql.Driver to the DriverManager: Instantiated an empty bean for that Driver in the spring context, like this: <bean class="org.postgresql.Driver" /> Instantiated the Driver statically in one of the classes, like this: Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver"); Added a file META-INF\services\java.sql.Driver with the content org.postgresql.Driver None of these solutions seems to help.

  • How do I authenticate regarding EJB3 Container ?

    - by FMR
    I have my business classes protected by EJB3 security annotations, now I would like to call these methods from a Spring controller, how do I do it? edit I will add some information about my setup, I'm using Tomcat for the webcontainer and OpenEJB for embedding EJB into tomcat. I did not settle on any version of spring so it's more or less open to suggestions. edit current setup works this way : I have a login form + controller that puts a User pojo inside SessionContext. Each time someone access a secured part of the site, the application checks for the User pojo, if it's there check roles and then show the page, if it's not show a appropriate message or redirect to login page. Now the bussiness calls are made thanks to a call method inside User which bypass a probable security context which is a remix of this code found in openejb security examples : Caller managerBean = (Caller) context.lookup("ManagerBeanLocal"); managerBean.call(new Callable() { public Object call() throws Exception { Movies movies = (Movies) context.lookup("MoviesLocal"); movies.addMovie(new Movie("Quentin Tarantino", "Reservoir Dogs", 1992)); movies.addMovie(new Movie("Joel Coen", "Fargo", 1996)); movies.addMovie(new Movie("Joel Coen", "The Big Lebowski", 1998)); List<Movie> list = movies.getMovies(); assertEquals("List.size()", 3, list.size()); for (Movie movie : list) { movies.deleteMovie(movie); } assertEquals("Movies.getMovies()", 0, movies.getMovies().size()); return null; } });

  • Spring AOP AfterThrowing vs. Around Advice

    - by whiskerz
Hey there, when trying to implement an Aspect, that is responsible for catching and logging a certain type of error, I initially thought this would be possible using the AfterThrowing advice. However it seems that his advice doesn't catch the exception, but just provides an additional entry point to do something with the exception. The only advice which would also catch the exception in question would then be an AroundAdvice - either that or I did something wrong. Can anyone assert that indeed if I want to catch the exception I have to use an AroundAdvice? The configuration I used follows: @Pointcut("execution(* test.simple.OtherService.print*(..))") public void printOperation() {} @AfterThrowing(pointcut="printOperation()", throwing="exception") public void logException(Throwable exception) { System.out.println(exception.getMessage()); } @Around("printOperation()") public void swallowException(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp) throws Throwable { try { pjp.proceed(); } catch (Throwable exception) { System.out.println(exception.getMessage()); } } Note that in this example I caught all Exceptions, because it just is an example. I know its bad practice to just swallow all exceptions, but for my current use case I want one special type of exception to be just logged while avoiding duplicate logging logic.

  • Spring 3 Controller Exception handler implementation problems

    - by predhme
I was hoping to implement a single "ExceptionController" to handle exceptions that are thrown in execution of my other controllers' methods. I hadn't specified any HandlerExceptionResolver in my application context so according to the API documentation the AnnotationMethodHandlerExceptionResolver should be started. Verified as such in the source. So I am curious to know why the following isn't working. @Controller public class ExceptionController { @ExceptionHandler(NullPointerException.class) public ModelAndView handleNullPointerException(NullPointerException ex) { // Do some stuff log.error(logging stuff) return myModelAndView; } } @Controller public class AnotherController { @RequestMapping(value="/nullpointerpath") public String throwNullPointer() { throw new NullPointerException(); } } I see in the debug logs that the three default exception handlers are asked for handling of the exception, but nothing is done and I see "DispatcherServlet - Could not complete request". Followed by the user being displayed the stacktrace and a 500 Internal error.

  • spring-mvc binding arraylist in form

    - by Mike
In my controller I added an ArrayList to my model with the attribute name "users". Now I looked around and this is the method I found (including a question here): <form:form action="../user/edit" method="post" modelAttribute="users"> <table> <c:forEach var="user" items="${users}" varStatus="counter"> <tr> <td> <form:input path="users[${counter.index}].age"/> </td> <td><button type="submit" name="updateId" id="Update" value="${user.id}">Update</button></td> </tr> </c:forEach> </table> </form:form> But when I load the JSP page I get: .springframework.beans.NotReadablePropertyException: Invalid property 'projects[0]' of bean class [java.util.ArrayList]: Bean property 'users[0]' is not readable or has an invalid getter method: Does the return type of the getter match the parameter type of the setter? So apparantely this isn't the way to go, but in that case how do I bind an arraylist so I can edit the values?

  • Spring Webflow: cannot get flow execution url at action phase of portlet

    - by tabdulin
The following exception is thrown: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: A flow execution action URL can only be obtained in a RenderRequest using a RenderResponse at org.springframework.webflow.context.portlet.PortletExternalContext.getFlowExecutionUrl(PortletExternalContext.java:2 06) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.impl.RequestControlContextImpl.getFlowExecutionUrl(RequestControlContextImpl.java :178) at org.springframework.webflow.mvc.view.AbstractMvcView.render(AbstractMvcView.java:172) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.ViewState.render(ViewState.java:282) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.ViewState.refresh(ViewState.java:241) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.ViewState.resume(ViewState.java:219) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.Flow.resume(Flow.java:545) at org.springframework.webflow.engine.impl.FlowExecutionImpl.resume(FlowExecutionImpl.java:259) ... 62 more It seems for me like resuming execution of flow at action phase tries to do render phase's stuff. Any ideas?

  • NoSuchMethodError with Spring MutableValues

    - by jakob
Hello experts! I have written a test where i specify my application context location with annotations. I then autowire my dao into the test. @ContextConfiguration(locations = {"file:service/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml"}) public class MyTest extends AbstractTestNGSpringContextTests { @Autowired protected MyDao myDao; private PlatformTransactionManager transactionManager; private TransactionTemplate transactionTemplate; @Test public void shouldSaveEntityToDb() { transactionTemplate.execute(new TransactionCallbackWithoutResult() { protected void doInTransactionWithoutResult(TransactionStatus status) { Entity entity = new Entity(); //test myDao.save(entity) //assert assertNotNull(entity.getId()); } }); } When i run the test i get an exception which states that the application context could not be loaded and it boils down to: Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.springframework.beans.MutablePropertyValues.add(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/Object;)Lorg/springframework/beans/MutablePropertyValues; I have no idea where to start looking, why do i get this error and how can i resolve it? Info springframework 3.0.2.RELEASE, Hibernate 3.4.0.GA, testng 5.9 Thank you!
