• How to view my Android app created database, via my android app?

  I'm creating an application that collects users location (Cell broadcast location code) and saves that location with a name of users option, for example say my CB location code is 546034, now my app allows me to store that location code with a name of my choice say 'Home'. So, essentially my app has that following modules, To collect users CB location. To collect a custom name from user of that location. To store these values in a database. I've succeeded in doing all the above modules. I have a sub-module for my third module which has an option for user, of showing and deleting the database values, the screen shot looks as follows, Now, Users should be able to view and delete entries when he chooses the option 'View my database of locations' I've learned how to query my database values and I'm stuck with creating a list view and providing the delete option. • Taking wrong database configuration array

  Hi, I have one application in which i have used 2 database connections. In my database config file i have given two arrays as below. $active_group = ‘default’; $active_record = TRUE; FIRST ARRAY $db[‘default’][‘hostname’] = ‘hostname’; .............. .......... SECOND ARRAY $db[‘another_db’][‘hostname’] = ‘hostname’; .............. .......... this is working fine. Now, I copied the entire CI folder to develop another application in which only one database connection needed. So, now, in the database config file, i deleted the second configuration array. But, the db class is taking first application’s second array i.e. “another_db” and it is giving the below error. “You have specified an invalid database connection group.” When i change the default (only one) array name to “another_db” in configuration file. It is working fine. Can’t understand from where it is taking the group name as “another_db”. My application autoloads database library. I have debugged the ci_auto_loader in Loader.php class where it calls $this-database() function with no parameters. But in function database($params, $, $) {}, if I echo $params it shows “another_db”.

• Why trigger query fails in the sqlite with Qt?

  I am a beginner in the SQL. I am using SQLite, Qt - on embedded systems. I want to put a trigger here. The trigger is that whenever the primary key Id is greater than 32145, then channelNum=101 should be set. I want to set the attrib name - text also, but I got the compilation issue. I believe that the setting of trigger is the part of DDL - Data definition language. Please let me know that if I am wrong here. Here is my create db code. I get the sql query error. • Distinct() to return List<> returning Duplicates

  I have a list of Filters that are passed into a webservice and I iterate over the collection and do Linq query and then add to the list of products but when I do a GroupBy and Distinct() it doesn't remove the duplicates. I am using a IEnumerable because when you use Disinct it converts it to IEnumerable. If you know how to construct this better and make my function return a type of List<Product> that would be appreciated thanks. • Bash script not working on a new dedicated server

  Recently I have migrated to the new dedicated server which is running on the same operating system - FreeBSD 8.2. I got a root account access and all permissions have been set properly. • A basic load test question

  I have a very basic load test question. I am running a load test using VSTS 2008 and I have test rig with controller + 10 agents. This load test is against a SharePoint farm I have. My goal of the load test is to find out the resource utilization on web+app+db tiers of my farm for any given load scenario. An example of a load scenario is Usage profile: Average collaboration (as defined by SCCP) User Load: 500 (using step load pattern=a step of 50 every 2 mins and a warm up time of 2mins for every step) Think time: 0 Load duration: 8hrs Now, the question is: Is it fair to expect that metrics like Requests/sec, %processor time on web front end / App / DB, Test/sec, and etc become flat or enter a steady state at one point in time during the load test. Like I said, the goal is not to create a bottleneck but to only measure the utilization of resources by the above load profile. I am asking this question because I see something different. At one point in the load test, requests/sec becomes more or less flat. But processor utilization on the web/DB servers keeps increasing. After digging through the data a bit, I see that "tests running" counter also steadily increased over time. So, if I run the load test for more than 8hrs, %processor may go up further. This way, I don't know what to consider as the load excreted by the load profile. What does this "tests running" counter really signify? How is this different from tests/sec? Another question is: how can I find out why "tests running" counter shows an increase overtime? Thanks for your time

Why does it not advance to the next row? if I move the code: $this->listing = $result->fetch_array() or die('could not create object'); foreach ($this->listing as $key => $value) : $info[$key] = stripslashes(html_entity_decode($value)); endforeach; if I move this outside the class, it works exactly as expected outputting a row at a time while looping through the while statement. Is there a way to write this so that I can keep the fetch_array() call in the class and still loop through the records?

• Images won't load if they are of high size

  I have created web-application using JSF 2.0 and mysql. I am storing images in DB using MEDIUMBLOB. When I try to load image, I am able to see those images. However if the image size is big (1 MB or more), I can see half or 3/4th image on the browser. Any idea how to overcome this issue? Do I need to set any variable in JSF or MySQL? I know I should have saved the images over disk instead of DB, however this was client requirement. Client wanted to backup data and provide it to someone else and client don't want to backup DB and images also. Edit 1 Do I need to set any variables on mysql like query_cache. • Architecture of finding movable geotagged objects

  I currently have a Postgres DB filled with approx. 300.000 data-sets of moving vehicles all over the world. My very frequently repeated query is: Give me all vehicles in a 5/10/20mile radius. Currently I spend around 600 to 1200 ms in the DB to prepare the set of located vehicle-objects. I am looking to vastly improve this time by ideally one or two orders of magnitude if possible. I am working in a Ruby on Rails 3.0beta environment if this is relevant. Any ideas how to architect the whole system to accelerate this query? Any NoSQL database able to deliver this kind of geolocation performance? I know of MongoDB working on an extension to facilitate this scenario but haven't tried it yet. Any intelligent use of Redis to achieve this? One problem with SQL-DBs here seems to be that I can't possibly use indexes because my vehicles are mostly moving around, meaning I had to constantly created DB indexes which, by itself, is probably more expensive than just doing the searching without index. • Not getting concept of null

  Hy Guys, Beginning with mysql. I am not able to grasp the concept of NULL. Check screen-shot (*declare_not_null, link*). In it when I specifically declared 'name' field to be NOT NULL. When i run the 'desc test' table command, the table description shows default value for name field to be NULL.Why is that so? From what I have read about NULL, it connotes a missing or information that is not applicable. So when I declare a field to be NOT NULL it implies (as per my understanding) that user must enter a value for the name field else the DB engine should generate an error i.e. record will not be entered in DB. However when i run 'insert into test value();' the DB engine enters the record in table. Check screen-shot(*empty_value, link*). • How to improve my software project's speed?

  I'm doing a school software project with my class mates in Java. We store the info on a remote db. When we start the application we pull all the information from the database and transform it into objects to use in our application (using java sql statemens). In the application we edit some of these objects and then when we exit the application we save or update information in the database using Hibernate. As you see we dont use Hibernate for pulling in information, we use it just for saving and updating. We have 2, but very similar problems. The loading of object(when we start the app) and the saving of objects(with Hibernate) in the db(when closing the app) is taking too much time. And our project its not a huge enterprise application, its a quite small app, we just manage some students, teachers, homeworks and tests. So our db is also very very small. How could we increase performance ? later edit: if we use a local database it runs very quick, it just runs slow on remote databases

  I am new in all the Entity Framework models and the data bindings. I created an interface and generated a model class from my Candidate table in the db. public interface ICandidate { String ID { get; set; } string Name { get; set; } string Mail { get; set; } } i created a partial class to the generated Candidate model so i will be able to implement the ICandidate interface without changing any generated code. public partial class Candidates : ICandidate { string ICandidate.ID { get { return this.PK; } set { _PK = value; } } string ICandidate.Name { get{ return this._Name; } set { _Name = value; } } string ICandidate.Mail { get { return this._Email; } set { this._Email = value; } } } Of course, the generated class has more properties than the interface has (Like IsDeleted field that is not necessary for the interface). I want to display in a DataGridView all the candidates from the db. But I want that only the interface's properties will be shown as columns in the DataGridView. Is there a way bind only the interface's properties the the DataGridView? In my DB there is a table called Candidate_To_Company with these columns: PK, Candidate_FK, Company_FK, Insertion_Date I would like to bind this table to DataGridView. but instead of displaying Candidate_FK i would like to display the candidate name from ICandidate. Is this possible?

• Is my approach for persistent login secure ?

  I'm very much stuck with the reasonable secure approach to implement 'Remember me' feature in a login system. Here's my approach so far, Please advice me if it makes sense and is reasonably secure: Logging: User provides email and password to login (both are valid).. Get the user_id from DB Table Users by comparing provided email Generate 2 random numbers hashed strings: key1, key2 and store in cookies. In DB Table COOKIES, store key1, key2 along with user_id. To Check login: If key1 and key2 both cookies exist, validate both keys in DB Table COOKIES (if a row with key1, and key2 exists, user is logged). if cookie is valid, regenrate key2 and update it in cookie and also database. Why re-genrating key: Because if someone steals cookie and login with that cookie, it will be working only until the real user login. When the real user will login, the stolen cookie will become invalid. Right? Why do I need 2 keys: Because if i store user_id and single key in cookie and database, and the user want to remember the password on another browser, or computer, then the new key will be updated in database, so the user's cookie in earlier browser/PC will become invalid. User wont be able to remember password on more than one place. Thanks for your opinions.

  Hey guys, I'm learning myself to go from function based PHP coding to OOP. And this is the situation: ClassA holds many basic tool methods (functions). it's __construct makes a DB connection. ClassB holds specific methods based on a certain activity (extract widgets). ClassB extends ClassA because it uses some of the basic tools in there e.g. a database call. In a php file I create a $a_class = new ClassA object (thus a new DB connection). Now I need a method in ClassB. I do $b_class = new ClassB; and call a method, which uses a method from it's parent:: ClassA. In this example, i'm having ClassA 'used' twice. Onces as object, and onces via a parent:: call, so ClassA creates another DB connection (or not?). So what is the best setup for this basic classes parent, child (extend) situation? I only want to make one connection of course? I don't like to forward the object to ClassB like this $b_class = new ClassB($a_object); or is that the best way? • PHP and use of the Num_Of_Rows() function?

• Installation of SAP Web Application Server 6.20 in Windows Vista

  I'm receiving this error on a page that previously worked fine, in fact the only change I've made to the page recently was to add another asp:TextBox and asp:RequiredFieldValidator control.   I made a JSONP widget. However, when one of the partner sites put it in their page, (1) it doesn't render at all in IE and (2) in other browsers (Firefox & Google Chrome), the HTML of the widget renders incorrectly: the <aside> closes prematurely, before the Financial Aid Glossary. It's something specific to that page because it works fine on this example college resource center page. To fix these two issues, I tried saving the page source to a local file and messing around with the local file and with Firebug, deleting DOM elements and stuff. I even tried fixing the errors that The W3C Markup Validation Service found. But, I still couldn't get it to render correctly. How should I tell them to change their page so that the widget renders correctly? Or, how should I update the widget script I wrote?
